They came, gave an estimate then disappeared. I accepted their bid, tried to schedule the service and no one called me back despite repeated calls to them. Don't waste your time with Mariano the estimator. Wound up using Three Family Members Tree Service who were just a bit higher in cost but well worth it. After reading all of the mixed reviews I had a few questions and so I called and spoke to Steve, the owner. He assured me that they have many happy customers and so I took him at his word. I needed several large trees removed from our yard and scheduled the work. I almost never write reviews but I felt as if I had to as the crew that worked my job were excellent. They arrived on time, did a great job for a fair price and left my yard completely clean and the job was done perfectly. I wouldn't hesitate to use Timberline again. We had a very poor experience trying to work with Timberline Tree Service. They provided us with a quote and when we scheduled them to come out they never showed up or called to let us know. After several calls to see what was happening we were finally able to reschedule. Again, they never showed up or called to let us know where they were at. Called this company to take away some tree's that I cut down and they told me they'll be by the next day to give me an estimate and the lady said they'll be in between 9am-4pm, but they never came so I called them up and they said ithe order was picked up and they'll check with the driver too see what's going on and they'll call me back. They never called or stopped by so I called the next day and they said their guy was supposed to stop by last night but they don't know what happened, so they'll check up what happened and call me back so he can come by the next day. What a surprise no call back and no estimate. How unprofessional is that? I should have just called another company for and estimate. read more

I had a similar experience as a couple other reviewers -- Steve actually came out to our property a couple times and verbally gave us a quote, but then never sent the actual written estimate which was necessary to get the job started. I never heard from him again despite repeated text messages, and despite leaving phone messages at least four or five times over the course of two months. I've used Timberline in the past (about 2yrs ago) and I was satisfied. I'm not sure what has changed in the meantime, but I won't try them again. I called to schedule an estimate, I waited through the scheduling window, and they're a no show. I then call and they say they're running late will be there in an hour, again no show. They never called to let me know they wouldn't be there. I'm not sure why I bothered but over the next two weeks I called trying to get an estimate done. They never returned my calls, when I talked to the scheduler they would tell me they would get in touch with the estimator and call me back. They never did. For two weeks I did this, you would think that they would be interested in having the business, but if they can't even do an estimate, show up on time, or call when they're going to be late they obviously don't care about their customers. read more

I called Timberline because I've used them in the past and was very satisfied. Needing some tree work done again, I called them and asked when they could come out to do the work and we agreed on a date time. The date/time arrived, no show. Called them to ask why, and no reasonable explanation provided. They actually seemed disinterested in doing the work!!! Gave them a second chance because of positive experience in the past, so, called them again, and agreed on date/time, and..... you guessed it.... Again, it was a no show, no call back to explain= no consideration for the customer. Finally, called them one last time to ask for an explanation and didn't get a return call. I guess the people answering the phones there have determined that they don't need the business- go figure, right? Strange, cause I know the people that actually do the tree work- climb/cut, etc. do care about the work they do and would probably want to stay employed. read more

After calling and speaking with both the office and estimator, I have come to the conclusion that these people are TOTALLY unreliable. They made an appointment with me on multiple occasions to give estimates and to do work, and NEVER showed up, or gave me the courtesy of calling to let me know that they have no intentions of showing. Their estimate was WAY high based on what I ended up getting the work done for. I DO NOT recommend Timberline to anyone that wants to get things done in a timely fashion. This is the first time I've used Timberline. I was very impressed from arranging for an estimate, setting a date and the actual removal of English Laurels along a property line everything was flawless. Justin came and gave me a very fair estimate to do the job he was very thorough checked about any details such as Neighbor access and best access point for equipment. On the day we agreed-upon the crew was actually 15 minutes early started on time and the three of them worked together seamlessly it was like watching a very well choreographed ballet. Absolutely pleasant crew to work with and they were very diligent about sprinklers and collateral damage to other plants. As a local realtor this will be my go to team from now on for clients as well. read more

We had a very large project. We were tearing down an old house, cleaning up the lot, and building a new house. The lot also required grading. And we had over 20 California live oaks and an old elm tree that required protection. There were four monster trees at end of life (Monterey pine with a 5 ft trunk, and other problem pines). With surgical precision, Steve and his very experienced team did an exceptional job, and now we have an absolutely beautiful landscaped lot to show for it. Timberline offers full service, with lots of specialized equipment and staff for jobs of any size and complexity. I absolutely recommend them! read more

We had a 100+ ft. tall redwood next to our house that was damaged and needed to be taken down. I got quotes from ~5 companies all within a few hundred $ of each other, and all were charging for disposal of the tree. I kept searching for someone who wouldn't charge for the wood since it was redwood afterall. I finally got lucky and discovered Timberline will often take desirable trees to a small woodmill operation on the coast at no cost. Not coincidentally, Timberline's quote was cheaper than all the others, roughly by the amount of the disposal cost which was over $1K. It took longer than I had hoped to schedule a date to remove the tree because Timberline subcontracts with another firm that has the heavy duty cranes to handle the big trees, like a 100 ft redwood next to a house. I witnessed the first few hours of the operation and was impressed with the quality and care of the crew. They used some of the thickest plywood I've ever seen to limit the damage the crane caused while parking on our frontyard. The crane operator and tree crew were very good. By the time I returned home from work that day every inch of tree save the stump had been cut and hauled away. They sent another crew a few days later to grind the stump. All in all I was very pleased with the entire operation, especially the cost! read more

I have used Timberline for several years and have always found them to be honest, timely, and they do an excellent job. We recently moved to a new home and had a hillside that had been neglected for years. I did not hesitate to call Steve at Timberline as they had done great work at our former home. They removed a dead tree and underbrush (Scotch broom) and trimmed four trees. Steve knew what needed to be done and was on sight to instruct the crew in the morning. Three men worked on the job and they cleaned up very nicely after the work was complete and removed all the debris. They checked in with me to see that I was satisfied. I don't do many reviews, but Timberline provides great service. read more

Timberline is hit or miss. We are now on the miss side of ledger. Had them out to top our oaks for the view...a big job. Steve had bid it out, walked the yard and bid as a one day job. We've had it done in one day many times. Guys were supposed to show up at 8:00 am but didn't come till 8:40. They stood around drinking coffee for awhile. They worked a bit, took breaks then broke for lunch. They were supposed to cut to historical cut lines, but hacked a big dip in middle of grove. They were about halfway finished at 3:00 when they began packing up. It's a lot of work they said. Next day they showed up at noon and had lunch in the backyard. Then did some cutting and took another break around 1:45. We called the office and the Jefe came out to get them moving. He admitted they had mangled part of the job. And we had to negotiate to get him to cut what was agreed to and even out the messed up parts. Day 3. Show up at 8:30, leave at 10:30 with none of the agreed upon fixes done. Bottom line is they worked barely a day over 3 days. Tried to get Steve out, no call returned. Tired of fighting with the workers to get what we asked for. I'll update if there's remedy read more

I would prefer to leave a 0 but it wasn't an option. This company was working at the home next door to my mother's home. She was asked if Timberline Tree Service could prune some branches that were hanging over their customers fence. My mother explained that she had an arborist prune the tree safely and correctly in a manner that was healthy for the natural growth of this special 80+ year old Oak Tree. Much to my moms shock and sadness they destroyed the look and balance of a beautiful tree. They took no care at all and hacked off branches without any concern for the health of the tree or my mothers privacy or property. They destroyed a gorgeous and special tree in 15 minutes with no care for the well being of the tree or the memories or privacy it provided for it's owners who have been watching it grow and loving it for 57 years. I definitely would not recommend Timberline Tree Service. They ruined a private, beautiful yard in 15 minutes. They should be ashamed of their work and lack of integrity. read more

Just had my tree trimmed. Called and got an estimate. I told them to trim my tree. They told me that they would call and sdt up a date. They called within 7 days and set a date. Called and rescheduled trim date because they werestill on a job. Came and trimmed the tree. Asked if trimming was good. I asked for one more limb be trimmed. They did a great cleanup. This is the 2nd time that I used them. They did a great job both times. In the past I have used others with mixed results. I will use Timberline in the future. read more

Steve and his crew were referred to us by one of his commercial customers. They have done a lot of work at our house, including spending an entire week removing some very large downed trees. One time, they showed up about 20 minutes after we called, during a rainstorm (!) to cut trees that had fallen onto our roof and in the pool. Timberline worked with us to get our insurance claim submitted properly. Steve's wife Linda runs the back office. Their son is also on staff. A great, local family business. Like any other business, they probably treat large, frequent customers like us better than one-time or smaller jobs. I'm going to guess that's the reason for the negative reviews. read more

This company is amazing. They came out did the estimate. Once I decided to go with them my appointment was made. Not a long wait!! Let's talk about the crew. Ok incredible!!! This was a big tree. He worked around the lines and was so careful. I watched most of it. It took a couple of days. I left for a short time and when I came back they were starting the trunk. I had their Workers and equipment all over the place. These guys work hard!!! They cleaned up each day. They came back two days later for the stump removal and again great. Prices are very fair! A Timberline truck hit our ivy fence while working on our street. The damage was immediately reported, repair was promised, but Its been over a month and it has yet to be repaired. We have not heard from them since the incident and ivy is rapidly dying. While this does not speak to the quality of the tree service, it does speak to their response for accepting responsibility -very poorly! Cheap? Yes. Worth it in the long run? No. They damaged my property by running a bobcat through my fence. They did not fix the fence. They pushed mounds of dirt mixed with wood chips against the side of my house and patio (approximately 12 cubic yards of it) and left it there. I had to shovel it off the house and patio. Steve came out and gave me a bid to trim a large oak tree that would need a boom truck. I got what I thought was a fair price. A crew came out with a boom truck and did a fantastic job. There were wires in front of the house and they played that boom truck like a fiddle to get everywhere they needed to go. The crew was friendly, efficient and neat. When they left, everything was so clean you'd never know the work that they'd done. This is my second time using Timberline. I recommend them and I'll use them again! Five big stars! read more
