I spoke to 4 tree services and my own gardener. Efran gave me equivalent price but throw in removing an oak shrub that others charge 80 on. We did need to reschedule my job because of conflict, but Efran gave me a good heads up. I was not in a hurry with my trim also. Then when his crew came, lead by Victor, they trim to exactly what I wanted. They trimmed/cut away more than 50% of the 3 trees and a tall hedge foliage/branches that some were touching the wires. They also did a good cleaning up. I would recommend them and go with them again next time I need a trim. My trim is in San Mateo. read more

They were also polite to my neighbor, who can be a bit opinionated. My job took about 4.5 hours for a crew of 5 men. They trimmed about 12 trees and shaped them, including my very old and gorgeous olive tree. Everything was done thoroughly and they checked with me whenever there was a question. Their price wasn't the cheapest but they weren't the most expensive either- mid range prices but high end service! I'm extremely pleased with the excellent work this crew did for my backyard. I got a quote from Efrain to remove 2 (8ft Yucca trees) and 3 tree stumps. Total of 5 tree stump grinds, for $700. I had gotten quotes from many other places ranging from $700 - $3000 for the same amount of work. Efrain and his crew appear to be a family business. When I called my husband to wake him up before 9:00 for the service that was going to begin he told me that the workers were already in place taking down the first tree in front of the house. We have several large trees on our property, and during a large rainstorm in early 2018 one of our large trees took up too much water and dropped a huge limb in our front yard. For just about every tree company we called, that meant an opportunity to try and gouge us. Not Olivares Tree Service. Yes,there was a small premium to pay for short notice, but the price was very reasonable. A few months later, we brought Olivares Tree Service back to remove a very tall, mature Monterey pine from our yard that unfortunately became infested with bark beetles. We were concerned that taking down such a large tree would cause damage to our other trees nearby, including a smaller tree underneath the pine. The other tree services that tried to price gouge us when we lost the limb told us that they would "never" be able to save the smaller tree, and would probably damage our mature apple and red cedar trees. Well, Olivares Tree Service was able to take down the Monterey pine without causing any damage to the other trees, and saved the smaller tree underneath the pine. Olivares Tree Service promptly replied to our request for a quote to trim, shape, and strip ivy from an 80' redwood tree planted in our backyard in Burlingame by my wife's grandfather nearly 100 years ago. Olivares' quote, by Efrain, was the lowest we received, and the work was scheduled for the very next week. The team arrived right on time (even a little early), and set up for a long day of climbing, trimming, and removing tree limbs. What great teamwork they displayed. Everyone had a job to do. Not too different from a minor league Cirque de Soleil performance. They were very respectful of the backyard furniture and garden, and when cleaning up even added a little gutter cleaning to the job. My neighbor had a large tree that was leaning quite a bit and the trunk split and 1/3 of it grew on our side of the fence, so we decided for the safety of our houses, we needed to cut this tree down. Together, we got estimates from 5 different companies and Olivares Tree Service had the most competitive bid. They came the same day I called them for an estimate and got the job done (a few days later) within a little over 4 hours on Saturday, which was surprisingly fast considering one of the other companies said it would take them a day or two! Not only that, but for a little extra, they trimmed the branches off another tree, removed all the ivy on the trunk of that tree (which was slowly killing it), and removed a small tree in our yard. Afterwards, they cleaned up all the leaves and branches, even the ones that were there before they cut the tree down. I was amazed at how clean and professional everything was. Efrin and his team did a great job for us. Communication and time it took to set up an appointment was great, and he was very punctual - no wasted time. We had two large juniper trees trimmed down and thinned out to reduce weight, including several large limbs, a large yucca cleaned up and a neighbors's birch trimmed back. They seemed very skilled at climbing and took good precaution not to damage my existing plants, as well as managing their own safety. Efrin was there the entire time checking the angles so they knew exactly which branches to cut - loved that. Another arborist had recommended cutting down one of our trees entirely due to its slanted growth, but Efrin explained to me why he thought we should keep the tree (it was holding up the weight of a nearby tree) and I agreed with him after he explained. I was very happy with the aesthetics of how the tree turned out. When they were done, we thought a few branches could have been trimmed back more and they happily obliged without any complaint. It was important to them to make sure we were pleased. I would say that if you are a particular customer, you might want to be around to monitor the progress. Sometimes we had differing opinions of how much to cut something but they were great at either accommodating us or explaining why we shouldn't cut something. One problem we did have was they cut back our neighbors Birch Tree more then I had explained. This resulted in less privacy but I wasn't sure if I had just not communicated what I wanted properly and they happen to cut that part when I was out. The team did a great job cleaning up as best as they could. Unfortunately trimming juniper trees means a lot of shredded needles and it couldn't be removed from an area covered with bark. This made for a bigger mess than I hoped for, but I don't know what they could've done to prevent this. I would definitely use Oliveira's tree service again. Their quote was very competitive, their work was excellent, and mostly they were just a pleasure to work with.
