In the past, their service was good and fairly dependable. Unfortunately, my most recent experience has been disappointing. I reached out in August to schedule our annual trimming and was told I'd receive a quote the next day. It took several follow-ups over several weeks before I received it, and when I replied right away to confirm and get on the schedule, I received no response. Then, out of the blue, I was contacted with a same-day availability that I simply couldn't accommodate. I was told I'd get a new date the following week, but I never heard back. I understand things can get busy, especially since they are contracted with the City of Burlingame for tree service, but as a residential customer, I would have appreciated more reliable communication and follow-through. I've since moved on to another company that was more responsive. I'm sharing this review in hopes it helps Timberline improve their residential customer service in the future, because they've long been a trusted local name.

Thankfully no serious damage occurred other than a large tree branch crashing down onto the front lawn due to gusty winds. A quick Yelp review helped me find Rays Tree Service. It's no wonder so many others have rated Acevedo's Tree Service stars! Ray was at my house within 30 minutes to review the project and provide a very competitive quote for the job. We actually decided on additional work to trim and prune the entire tree. Ray came back the very next morning, a half hour earlier than expected to begin the work. I stayed home to watch the entire job. It was cool to watch him study the job and explain the game plan to his assistant. He was very careful around the neighbors property and especially the surrounding telephone pole wires while getting his aerial lift high into the tree. After cutting was completed, all the debris was placed into the wood chipper. Final raking and leaf blowing cleaned up the area nicely. When I spoke with Sam about it he cursed me out. I took him to court and he lied about everything that day, claiming he was there to guide his crew, and even the trim job which I had pictures showing what he did wrong. He did a cheap and easy lions tailing trim rather than what I asked him to do and what the tree needed. When I left court I asked him why he lied and his response is not repeatable. I would stay away from him for any tree trimming. I believe in supporting small businesses but not this one.

Over the past year, a series of unfortunate events prompted me to store a large amount of trash and…read moreold belongings in my backyard temporarily. I had planned on removing it all last summer, but I didn't finish before the rainy season. After a few storms had come through, the wind and rain spewed old belongings and garbage throughout the yard. On top of having trash all over my backyard, I had vines and weeds everywhere. The vines were growing so aggressively, they buried an 8ft ladder, hid my circuit breaker, and began invading my house. I also had a couple of trees which had died, one of which had fallen over. The dead tree and vines formed a wall which prevented anybody from entering my side yard (see photo link below) I found another company on Yelp and described what I needed. But they said they could not address the breadth of my yard's issues. They recommended Sam's Tree Service. Sam came out August 1st and gave me an estimate. The price was definitely reasonable given the scope of the work. I agreed to the estimate, so he and his crew began the job at 9am on August 2nd. They ripped out weeds, vines, dead trees, and trash. I got home after work on Aug 2nd and barely recognized my yard. Sam and crew came back on Friday, Aug 3rd and finished up. The metamorphosis was awesome. Sam and his team were fast and thorough. Two big branches from a couple of Australian trees that are like eucalyptus trees hit our roof…read more McClenahan's were very responsive and came to remove them with their chipper. Two and a half weeks later, after getting alternative bids, they came ahead of schedule with a lift and very professionally removed the two large trees. The crew asked me about sprinklers as they had to work with big logs near their controls that stuck up out of the ground - I assured them that they were turned off and not to worry. They were very careful to return to their yard to get boards to cover my lawn before moving their lift on to it. I had said I didn't mind any damage to the lawn as it's not the greatest lawn and I could easily reseed and dig it over. Highly recommended. The crew are the best at cleaning up of any of the arborist firms we've used in over 25 years in Portola Valley. I am delighted the trees are gone - the garden is much lighter and I don't have to worry about branches hitting my head outside. The trees had dropped a branch 16 years earlier that went through the pantry wall and on two other occasions had dropped branches almost as high as the house on the lawn that I had had to saw. So it was time for them to go.
