The best bbq you can get outside of Texas, hands down! Super tender, high quality brisket, pulled pork and ribs that fall right off the bone. Excellent smoked meats! The sides were also winners with a great refreshing potato salad, and fried okra and ranch that was so tasty! Amazing BBQ! I had the pork sandwich. It is served with pickles and pickled onion rings. Slaw on the side and the whiskey bbq beans. The bbq was juicy with smoke flavor all the way through and very tender. No fat or gristle anywhere=total bbq ectasy! Their slaw is "pineapple slaw". Not my idea of a try "Southern Cole Slaw" but it works well. Of course, being the Southern Memphian I am, I had to put the slaw on the sandwich. I pulled the pickles off the sandwich. In my opinion, no true bbq connoisseur puts pickles on their bbq or pickled onions. What's the reason??!! True good bbq doesn't need them. I did leave one of the pickled onion rings on it for giggles. I will admit it did add a certain something to the sandwich. I sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and quick. There were four beers on tap of which I had one. The name of which I can't remember but it was one out of Nashville that was light and went well with my meal. The place was very clean. We visited 2 years ago when staying at Center Hill Lake and it was wonderful then, and wonderful when we were back a few weeks ago. Really a hidden treasure. Terrific outdoor patio with casual seating around the stone fireplace. We realized that the restaurant was really only about 20 minutes from home, so we'll be back even if we're not vacationing. We had gotten a gift card to Timberloft a few years ago, but kept forgetting to use it until recently and we're really happy that we finally came out to dine here. The restaurant is right off of I-40, so it's super easy to get to and they have plenty of parking outside. There's 2 dining areas in the summer with the outside area in the back being more casual and the inside being quite homey and comfy. We ended up dining outside and we had great service throughout the meal. We had gotten chips and queso/salsa to start and while the dips were great, the chips were unfortunately too greasy and we would skip them in the future. My wife got the brisket and I got the cheesesteak and both were excellent! I particularly loved my cheesesteak and would definitely get it again. We also had some cocktails and my wife got a regular margarita (delicious) and I got a blackberry margarita (too sweet). It's a very nice restaurant overall and we'll definitely be bringing family to visit in the future! read more

Cute little BBQ spot that will not disappoint. The staff is super friendly and will chat with you if they ain't busy. The menu selection has a little bit of everything. But their BBQ it really good. The ribs had a dry rub on it that I didn't need to use the BBQ sauce that it came with. The whiskey beans had a whole lotta flavor and that corn bread had enough sweet to tie it all together. I've been lucky enough to have tried bbq in Kansas City, Memphis, St. Louis, Baltimore and many other beautiful places. This food was incredible!! The service was amazing! The atmosphere of this place was super homey! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with the nicest people. The hostess was doing double duty cleaning the tables and seating people and she was still kind and patient with our party that had 3 young kids. We sat down and had Mason (who was absolutely incredible and very attentive) as our server. He kept our drinks filled and speaking of drinks, don't miss out on the fruit tea. It's delicious! We had the Texas Smoker Combo which came with ribs, pulled pork, fried chicken and two sides. We got fries and cream corn but what was the best thing was that corn muffin. It was sweet and so good! The kids meals were a little pricey and should have split it between my two kids but we will know for next time, which we will be back! If you're looking for somewhere to go as a family, this is not a good choice. They need to take family-friendly off their list of accommodated crowds. They have made their outdoor seating 13 and older only, and inside they have a sign that tells you to keep your children quiet, non-disruptive, etc... it's not worth the judgmental staff if you have small kids. As a parent, it's very unwelcoming from the beginning. The food is decent but definitely not worth the price (this is not a high end restaurant) and the service has always been iffy. read more

Timberloft is a hunting lodge meets cozy, comforting barbecue. I must say that I like this combination and it works. We came on a Saturday for an early dinner, without reservations but were seated right away. Our server was good and attentive. She asked if we wanted refills and brought us our bill promptly at the end. The first thing I noticed when we got seated was that there were many mounted animal heads on the wall and a wallpaper that went around the room we were seated in with the bar area that had pictures of deer. Although a bit kitchy, I enjoyed it. Their menu includes Tex Mex favorites, barbecue and Southern favorites like Nashville hot chicken. They have a good beer and wine selection as well as cocktails. We both got beer to start then I ordered the BBQ loaded baked potato ($10.25) and my boyfriend got a small rack of the hickory smoked ribs with comes with 2 sides ($16.99). He selected the cheddar macaroni and cheese (+$2) and the whiskey baked beans. I enjoyed the potato but wasn't all that blown away by the pulled pork on it. I tried some of the ribs and they were very good. Our meal and the two beers rang us up around $50. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and the ambiance. Gordonsville is a bit out of the way for us so that may be the reason we don't return but I was glad we tried this spot out. There are so many good barbecue spots in Middle Tennessee that Timberloft's food didn't stand out to me above others but I was happy with everything. read more

This is the third time over a few years I have stopped in here on my trek south to Gatlinburg or SC. What can I say? It's a high end ambience BBQ restaurant, but the food backs it up. My word, does it ever! The brisket was outstanding, falling apart, juicy and not overly seasoned. The pulled pork was spot. The ribs were solid and dry rubbed, the bone rolled right out with a twist, sauce on the side, just perfect. The smoked cream corn was like my grandmas that had been placed in a smoker, it was crazy... the Mac and cheese was rich and legit. If I lived close, my name would be on a seat... I'm not kidding. I had no idea this place was here until I was looking for a spot between Nashville and Cookeville. The food was much better than I expected - ribs were delicious without sauce (the true test), brisket was thick cut and a little firmer than you find in Nashville, but in a good way - very substantial and not fatty at all. The pork bbq was tasty, but was basically what you would expect. The drink prices were outstanding, and I was surprised at how low my bill was when we were done. I will definitely make the trip to Timberloft again. read more

The service and management of this place has gone way down hill. We have eaten at this restaurant for Sunday brunch and dinner a lot over the years, and although it is the most expensive place to eat in this town the food is normally decent. Now the management will not allow children to sit on the outdoor patio. It's hard enough to take young kids out to eat, and now this place wants to make it harder. Had a family Sunday brunch planned, but they wouldn't allow part of our party outside because we had kids under 13 years old with us. Very expensive and now hard to deal with, I won't attempt to spend another dime here!! read more

We have eaten here several times, and it is always delicious. Our favorite dishes are the pulled pork, the fried chicken tenders, and the Nashville hot chicken. Today, I got the pulled pork plate with fried okra and parmesan potato salad. It came with onions and pickles on the side and a roll. It was yummy! My boyfriend got the chopped steak with mushrooms, a baked potato, and the roasted corn on the cob. He was slightly disappointed with his steak, saying it was actually just a hamburger with mushrooms on top of it; but the other stuff he got was good. My eleven year old son had the fried chicken tenders with fries and the bacon macaroni and cheese. He went on and on about how tasty the fries and macaroni and cheese were. He is usually a picky eater, so him bragging on the food is rare. My thirteen year old daughter ordered the fried chicken tenders with fries and the roasted corn on the cob. She said it was delicious as well, all except for the corn, which she said was a bit dry. All four of our meals were served with pickles on the side and dipping sauces. We ate in the dining room this time, but we normally eat out on the patio. We would have today had it not been really hot outdoors. On Friday and Saturday nights (when the COVID mess is not going on) they have live music out on the covered patio. Also on those nights, they accept 'call aheads' thirty minutes in advance of arrival to limit seating wait times. During the COVID, they are offering both dine-in and curbside pickup. We don't drink but for someone who does, they have 'Happy Hour' Tuesday through Friday 3 pm - 6 pm with $3 Bud Light and Miller Light beers and $4 cocktails. They also have food specials during 'Happy Hour'. The prices are a bit on the expensive side. Our total was $75 (not including the tip) for four entrees and four drinks. They accept cash, credit, and debit cards. They have a very cute 'homey' waiting area as you go in, and a sign saying that they sanitize the menus after every customer. The tables were also spaced out enough that although there were people at the tables surrounding ours, they weren't 'right on top of us', as others usually are when dining inside a restaurant. The waitresses were extremely nice and friendly. If you want to enjoy a delicious, fresh BBQ meal in Gordonsville, I highly recommend this restaurant. However, keep in mind that they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. read more

Where to start...I was heading back to Charlotte from Nashville and saw this place and was right off interstate so I thought I'd give it a try, called in order to go. I got there 20minutes before close on a wed so my expectations tend to go down for a restaurant right before they close but as I walked in place immaculately clean n had very nice decor n modern wasn't expecting that. I ordered a half a rack of ribs and their wed special meatloaf with Brussels sprouts. Ribs were fall off the bone and great Smokey flavor just the way I like to eat them. The Texas meatloaf was spot on nice and moist with plenty of smoked flavor it's prolly the best meatloaf I've had at a restaurant and the Brussels sprouts were amazing ( perfectly cooked n crispy ) most places never fully cook them and they really chewy, you kno what I'm talking about . As I waited I used the restrooms before I hit the road and they were absolutely spotless , I always say you tell a lot about a restaurant or store by how they take care of their restrooms. My only regret was not trying their desserts they looked so good!! I'll just make sure next time thru to make room for the dessert.
