Times is a local neighborhood grocery store off King Street. From the outside, the store looks a bit weathered, but the inside is pristine and well organized. A beautiful selection of hand made leis greeted me at the door. The vegetables are local and fresh and prices are reasonable. The bakery offers fresh donuts, Hawaiian cakes and pastries. A pharmacy counter is near the bakery. A counter in the back of the store has a reasonable selection of fresh poke. The store carries everything that you'd expect of a grocery store including fresh meats, canned and dry goods, cleaning and paper products, dairy and even some kitchen supplies. Up front, is a selection of beer, wine and spirits. I was please to find my favorite Maui vodka. I was looking for a specific tile cleaner, that they did not have. I did pick up some vegetables. The staff is friendly, but busy during my visit. There is plenty of free parking in their dedicated lot. I like Times. It has a great local vibe. read more

We normally go to the kaimuki location as the poke thete looks and taste great all the time. Came here to try this time in McCully since it was along the way. The poke didn't look as good and the guy gave about 3/5 amount we normally get at kaimuki. So very disappointing. read more

Call me a Yelp nut for writing a review of a supermarket, but this very supermarket is a lifeline for many, including myself. I pick up discounted poke here often, as well as my grocery staples. I have also picked up readymade dessert for potlucks from here. (I am a fan of the ube pandesal, but I always have to refrain from buying too many sweets from here. My sweet tooth is not unlike many of the politicians running the government: crooked, notorious, and influential.) During a sickly time in my life, I also needed some cold medicine, which was readily available and notably not locked behind glass cases. Saved my life. Pro tip: Pay at the main register first, then bring your receipt to the plate lunch counter. One of my favorite finds here? Cooked sweet potatoes. They take forever to make at home not to mention heating up your kitchen, so I'm more than happy to pay $3 for a huge, ready-to-eat, post-gym carb boost. I like this Times hot food line! The workers are quick and the portion size is perfect. Each plate comes with 3 choices. Customers can select from brown or white rice, potato mac or toss salad, steamed veggies and mash potatoes. They offer steak plates on Wednesdays which are tasty and different specials throughout the week. I totally love the steak plates. Always flavorful and tender. The chef who cooks outside is super friendly and does a great job. On one occasion I purchased some steak and for some reason it was not as good as usual. I decided to call Times and spoke to the Manager "Charles" to explain my experience. What a super cool guy. He said no worries, just come in tomorrow to be reimbursed. No questions asked!! Charles even helped us look up our receipt. I shop at this particular Times 2x a week and will always continue to shop here. It is no real surprise to see the way Charles handled this situation. This is the closest grocery store to me but I drive to Market City Foodland because of my frustrations with this store. Sometimes I'll buy produce only to find out that they're rotten and inedible when I'm getting ready to cook later that day (ex: slicing into an onion). Their seafood selection is small and lacking. I can't find a basic filet of Atlantic salmon--only like two kinds of random, more expensive types of salmon. Sometimes they don't have basic items in stock, like certain common seasonings. Most staff seem apathetic, including the stockers, poke station staff, and the cashiers. They don't greet you with a smile and don't seem happy to assist you or even be there. I've never had issues finding parking but I only come during non-peak hours. I can see how the one-way lanes of the parking lot can be frustrating during rush hours. I do like that they have a surprisingly decent selection of Japanese products and that they offer bento but other than that, I do not prioritize this store for grocery shopping. I can't feel confident that I can find all of the items I need (even the common ones) or that the produce I spend my money on will be edible, and on top of that, the customer service is lacking. read more

One thing I do love about this location is that the parking lot is large and well maintained with just steps away from the market itself so no elevators or crossing the street to access is great. I did come for something very specific and had to be in and out quick so knew that coming here is the best solution...until I browsed since I found that item so quickly that there was always something else I'm looking for and did manage to find something at a great deal omg!! Times also famously have various plate lunches daily, poke counter, even a service counter where you're able to get bus pass, HOLO card, stamps, and Western Union transaction that's a little bit of everything at daily store hours of 6am to 11pm you know it's a great pick up place. Came here to get some liquor for some beer for the better half as the restaurant we were going to eat dinner is byob. When grabbing her beer, I noticed they had a vodka from Japan. If you like vodka you have to try the ones from Japan. A friend told me about the Haku brand and I had to grab it. They even had some whiskeys as well. Maybe next time I come I will grab a bottle or two. Times also has a nice selection of fruits and vegetables. We like getting plate lunches. They also have prepackaged bentos to go which makes it very convenient when you have to eat on the road. I noticed they rent Rug Dr which is a do it yourself carpet cleaning. Everyone should clean their carpets as they would be shocked to see what's in there. Lots of free parking. What's not to like about Times. read more

The new vendor they have for the musubis is really good! Nicely formed and tasty rice (not mushy like the old vendor). Because I buy them often, wish there was more variety! Had the yakisoba with takoyaki the other day, it was too karai (salty with an MSG after taste). Sorry to say but the instant yakisoba that you can get off the shelf is better. Times yakisoba had like 2 tiny pieces of cabbage and that was it for the veggies! But the Taste of Times plates are very good value and tastes good. I've been a long time fan of Times - it just has that local feel, and this particular location has been my go-to recently because it's conveniently located close to my office. Not only are prices competitive, but they have a great selection of single serving desserts in the refrigerated display cases near the cashiers. This is the closest Times to my house, and the service has really gone down. This is the second time in a row that even my husband was totally offended by the unfriendly, unhelpful, uncaring attitude of the cashier. Our cart was really dragging, and I had a hard time turning it into the lane. Then no offer of helping to bag items. I don't mind bagging, but it is nice to be offered help, esp when we have a lot of items and the cashier zips through the scanning and is standing there watching us. Last time, she even started scanning the next person's items. Both times, she was talking to another employee, grabs the receipt, and while still talking to the other employee, hands us our receipt over her shoulder without eye contact or a thank you. Daily plate lunch specials. Plates include a drink. Or order a side order. Like roast beef, roast pork, guava ribs, steak, garlic shrimp, Hawaiian plate. Update on McCully Times I decided to go there instead of my go to Kaimuki Times. Very busy today the only reason why there was a Matson trailer in the parking lot so it was taking at least 5 stalls. Got into the store I observed the Express line was very busy about 5 deep. The other lines was not bad at all. I got into the produce area and I notice Longan $4.99 lIbs I don't eat that but my understanding is that it taste like Lychee. Got into the ice cream section because I was craving for some ice cream later tonight for dessert. I seen the Boba brown sugar ice cream bar for $7.99 a box of four. Also there was a sign limit 2 boxes. So I'm sure this is the ice cream bar that was popular about 2 months ago. I remembered my boss telling me that his daughter went to Palama market to get this new ice cream bar and it was all sold out. I'm not sure if this price is cheaper than Palama Market oh well I picked 2 boxes up anyway. For convenience since I was here at Times anyway and I'm not sure when I'll be going to Palama Market . The taste was just ok I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it and I'm not sure what all the hype was about. Even though this Times Supermarket is VERY conveniently located. Even though, I pass by it numerous times and is the closest one when I decide I need to go, I just don't go to this Times Supermarket. It's weird. I do go here once in a while, but I still prefer the covered parking at Kalihi and Kaimuki, the close proximity of the freeway at Kahala and Liliha, and being able to walk to Safeway from Times Beretania. A few reasons why I don't come here that often is the odd parking. If you don't find parking on your first attempt, you need to drive back onto the road and back down the other lane. If coming from the other way, you need to make a sharp u-turn that goes into the crosswalk where customers just come out. You also may have cars waiting to go into the same lane, which can create a jam. Patience is needed as cars wait for a spot or wait for people to cross. The inside of the store definitely feels dated. It's a bit smaller than other Times and doesn't carry as much variety as well in every section. It's spacious though! Overall, Times McCully isn't terrible. It's super convenient being able to turn in from King Street or Young St. It has the basics and necessities. Parking has its oddities. I just prefer the other Times Supermarkets than this one. read more

We came in on a Saturday evening -- maybe around 6:00pm and this Times location was out of everything that we needed. Even their Poke station was completely closed and empty. I think 6:00pm is too early to close up shop because I know other Times locations offer poke until 8:00pm or so. We also asked the clerk for a couple of other items our group needed and was advised that they ran out. Given the location of this store (very busy precinct), managers should probably consider ordering enough supplies to cover consumer demands otherwise they might observe negative profit margins. We ended up going to the Times by our hotel which did have everything we wanted and needed! read more

Kinda liking this Times location. It's parking lot is big and there are numerous handicap stalls. They've got tons of ready made food in the front right after you get into the door after the baskets. The veggies are fresh and smart stacked. They gave half portions of lettuce and cabbage and such. Why buy more than you need. It seems like every aisle has a wider demographic selection. I've found so many noodle choices and the packaged ready to take and make ramen, amazing. If you want variety, lots of free parking and easy quick checkout this store is for you. read more

I've shopped at the McCully store for years but I've started going to the Beretania store instead because I usually end up there anyway!. Twice now the McCully store didn't stock enough of an item for a sale. Fine I'll take a raincheck. Nope. No raincheck for the special deals. Would they offer to find out if the other stores have any? Nope. I called them myself and, as always, the Beretania store DID have it in stock. love coming here in the afternoon when they mark down the bento items. Inari and veggie gyoza pack is one of our faves. A few min in the toaster and the gyoza are nice and crispy. Maki sushi was too heavy on the ginger. Tried shrimp bomb poke and spicy scallop poke for the first time since they were marked down. Both pretty tasty and not spicy. This branch of Times Supermarket is on the way home when I take King Street. Decided to finally go and check it out when I needed to pick up some greens for home lunches. Haven't been in it in years. Parking was a snap. It's one of the smaller supermarkets I've been to recently, but I found everything I needed that day. Major reason to review South King St Times is to talk about the Suntory whisky I got on sale! After getting my lettuce, strolled over to the liquor aisle just to see what was there and how much. Surprised to see Suntory Toki available and on sale for $34.99/750 ml. Good deal! Recently spent $50 getting a bottle of Toki at an ABC store in Waikiki. I'll have to keep an eye out for their weekly sales ads. Repeat and recommend! read more

I realized I have already written a review with this Times Store on South King Street but since the review was too long with one more recognition of another employee that deserves some kudos on his customer service is in the Deli/Daily plate lunch area. His name is Jonathan. I usually get Mushroom Chicken plate on Tuesday and request a bit of more of mushroom gravy on the chicken itself, the mash potatoes and sometimes on the rice. I don't ask for much and the plate lunch are a good deal in these times ( OH NO, no pun intended as I caught myself on that one) as food is going up in prices and some particular products within the last year and a half that I had noticed from labor and fuel costs and now this pandemic!! Also I sometimes see Jonathan on Thursday when laulau plate is sold. Keep up the good work!! This Times Store has good employees that display SUPERB customer service from entering the store with a sanitized basket or shopping cart from the clerk to the cashier. I see their faces but some don't know their names unless I make constant contact with them and notice their name tag. I apologize if I didn't mention your name but I do know your faces that make an impression to me in some ways to me or my wife. I try not to forget. This Times has been here for a long time and as such is kind of like a time warp back to the 70's or something. Even though it hasn't been renovated in years I still find myself shopping here all the time. You have to be careful though as they don't rotate their food so you need to check the expiration dates otherwise it can be rotten! The staff is what really makes the experience when shopping here. They are always smiling and working hard. I really like the overall feel of the store though and I would definitely recommend it! The atmosphere here is very laid back! read more

Unlike the Kaimuki Times with its perpetual incorrectly isted prices, this branch has never had that issue. I guess it depends on management? People are always friendly and quite often sales prices are much lower than the national chains. Fresh kale is great btw! read more

Hey Guys, have you ever took the time out to check out Times Supermarket's plate lunches??? I must say, they do serve up a value packed plate lunch.........and you get quite a lot for your dollar. I found this out, as a friend told me about the bargains, as well as seeing some friends post pics on Facebook. About two weeks ago, I was looking for some grub and could not decide on what I wanted to eat. All of a sudden, Times Supermarket (McCully Branch) came to my mind, as I was jonesing for some Huli Huli Chicken! I've had their Huli Huli Chicken in the past, and was quite pleased on what I got, but today as I picked up my Huli Huli Chicken plate, I noticed there was a little change in the way they this this dish. As a Huli Huli Chicken connoisseur, I know in the past when I got this dish, I received 1/2 of Huli Huli Chicken. But when I had ordered this dish recently, I noticed the Huli Huli Chicken was all cut up in pieces. When I ate it...........I noticed the chicken meat was basically breast meat. It still had the nice smokey flavor, but I felt it was missing something. I like to have my drumstick, chicken wing, thigh, & breast. But oh well, I guess they had to change it up for some reason. Still a great bargain, only $5.99 for this plate. You get two sides, and a scope of rice (white or brown), and also a drink (soda or bottle water). I ended up getting two servings of mixed veggies, and a scope of brown rice, and a bottled water with my Huli Huli Chicken. Still a great deal for $5.99 + tax. I be just visited the Times Supermarket on South King Street. The wait time to pay and pickup was moderate. So I had to order 4 large steak plates and a potion of steak. All 5 plates were really loaded with steak. The quality of steak was moderate but tasty. They gave big potions for the three sides for each plate lunch.
