So, the very small abrasion on my right arm wasn't healing. The biopsy surprised both me and the doctor when it confirmed Basel cell skin cancer. In the early winter of 2011, it was a simple excision procedure to remove the problem. By summer 2011, although Dr. Jochen reminded me that everyone heals differently, I was unhappy with the scar. I appreciated how willingly he offered me laser treatments to reduce the size and color. During routine visits over the next three years, the doctor indulged my continuing to mention my not being completely satisfied with the outcome. Dr. Jochen consistently offered me another incision at no additional charge and always reiterated that he wanted me to be fully satisfied with the results. In November 2014, we started over and, as expected, the wound is currently still healing (late February 2015). I have a follow-up appointment this week which the doctor scheduled and which prompted me to want to publicly thank him and his excellent staff for their dedication to perfection. It wasn't until I began to write this review that I realized the length of time involved since the original excision. Dr. Jochen deserves to be commended for his dedication and perseverance to patient satisfaction. I am confident that the doctor will persist until the scar is reasonably unnoticeable and we've achieved the results we've wanted. And I am sure that we will have the desired conclusion soon! Dr Jochen is knowledgeable, he is kind and cares about what the patient needs. He has help us on many occasions. Both me and my husband have been seen by him. He has been there several times to help my husband with medical issues and has helped me, more on the cosmetic side. He is so smart and yet always finds the time to put you at ease during your appointment. His skill goes beyond most doctors I have been to. I have been going to dermatologist since my early 30's and have never found a doctor with more medical knowledge and guidance to make you look and feel so much better. He will not do a procedure just to do it. I live about 60 miles away and gladly travel to see him for the superior care and treatment you receive from their office. I've been a patient at Contour Dermatology for over 12 years. I've only recently been seeing Kara Crane-NP C. Kara is fantastic. Her genuine concern and treatment are appreciated. They say that great leaders surround themselves with great people. Dr. Jochen has a gem in Kara. When there is an option of who to see for your treatment, I suggest Kara. Being blue eyed, light skinned and having spent earlier years in the sun, I now have a couple of procedures a year and will always go to Kara when possible. Also of note is Natalie at Reception. Contour Derm now has 3 locations so I never know when I'm going to see Natalie, but she always has a solution to any challenge whether scheduling, billing issues, etc. She takes charge and gets things done. Dr. Jochen is a great marketer and is very busy, but I think he needs to clone himself as there just aren't enough hours in the day for him to see all the patients that have chosen Contour Dermatology. I was nervous about getting my photos taken, but the assistant was so sweet and made me feel completely at ease. I am a retired navy rescue swimmer that spent many years in the sun and surf. I first saw Dr. Jochen in 2012. I had a lot of sun damage and wrinkles due to my exposure over the years. He did a full assessment and gave me options. We decided on the CO2 laser. He explained everything extremely clearly and was meticulous in his performance. The results were truly amazing. I have continued to go to him over the last eight years and I've had nothing but top-notch service from him and his entire staff. This man, Timothy Jochen, thought he was a plastic surgeon and convinced me to have body sculpting. I let him. He cut me while I was awake. He gave me a Valium to take so he could cut me with a razor, again and again. I screamed over and over. It was like being brutally attacked but a serial killer. He finally stopped because I was in so much pain, I couldn't go on. I paid him $6,000 for this nightmare and still haven't received my money back. He couldn't complete the liposculpture . That didn't end there. He had me come back and pay more for treatments to try to get the fat out. Didn't work either. So now my stomach is deformed, it has a big lump of scar tissue and a ledge that sticks out. I look terrible and I cannot wear a bathing suit, or go sleeveless because of the dents in my arms, nor can I wear tops or dresses that cling to my stomach. He doesn't care. He is making money. Everything above is heartbreaking and true. To address the comment on my review below from the office: *Lidocaine and a Valium is not going to stop the pain from your flesh getting cut. If you believe it will try it yourself, again and again. The service had to be stopped after too much pain, therefore my arms, stomach, and back are in bad shape. I need to have this fixed ASAP. I am asking for my money to be refunded for this botched procedure which I paid $6,000 as well as the Velashape procedures. A month ago I came to Dr. Timothy for a Botox treatment on my forehead. Even though usually I am doing 25 units the doctor decided I need to do 35 units and since it was my first time over there I don't wanna argue with the doctor I figure out he knows what he's doing. They tell you that after two weeks you can come for Touch up in case the results are not good. Needless to say two weeks later I came to the office that they will fix and give me a touchup. The lady were supposed to give me a touchup was really rude and make me feel like she's doing a favor to me by giving me a touchup. Anyway it was a month ago. Now it's look like the before picture you do before the injections. They charge $12 a unit and even though on Yelp they had a promotion of 15% off nobody told me about that until I've checked on yelp and I told damn that I wanna use those 15% off discount and it's really upsetting that you not letting your customer that fact They can get a discount. Anyway it's not about the money and if the results were good and he would've looked good I would pay $15 a unit but since it's just a month after and it look like I haven't done nothing I had to write this review to save from other people the trouble. I'm actually on my way to another office to fix the horrible appearance of my forehand. If you can go to LA go to Las Vegas find other office in Palm Desert but don't go to this one. I have lived in many cities and had many dermatology physicians and offices across the US and this is far and above the best, most professional and personable office I have been to! The facilities also are new, clean, bright and comforting. I have had regular dermatology work and surgeries as well as fillers and other more cosmetic procedures and have been very pleased at every step. The office staff is so great - everyone I have dealt with has been genuinely concerned with informing me of my options as a patient, explaining things clearly and amazing follow up. I was literally in and out of this office in five minutes and was told what I had would go away. For that, they wanted to charge me $130, but that was the price they told me over the phone to actually have my cyst removed. I called three times to get a quote before going in and then once I was there, they lied and said they never said that. When I told them it was unfair, they took me, and my husband to collections the next day and also added an additional fee. This office is very unethical. Timothy Jochen is a petty little man who mocked me when I called him to discuss the bill by saying, "what, can't you afford to pay, huh, huh," over and over again. The women that work there are equally as rude and hostile. There are a lot of other doctors to go to in this area. Stay clear of this place. His specialty is dermatology, to me he has proved himself far more and it should say on his business card.. skin architect, Sculptor and visionary. He was extremely pleasant, and knew his stuff. As did LaRue, the patient care coordinator. She was no nonsense and helped me achieve what my goals with price and extra questions. I also had an excellent Nurse practitioner named Kara and esthetician named Annmarie. These girls were TOP NOTCH. They were great and you can bet he further educates his staff. His class pours into his business, If you have to wait on line for him or any of his employees, do it. It is worth the wait. I'm a sucker for perfectionist and genius. AND THE ACADEMY AWARD GOES TO; Oscar for best bedside manner, and AMAZING LIPO... No, I was not contacted every 10 minutes and no I was not offered to reschedule, repeat: No offer to reschedule was ever made to me. All someone said to me was "We are about an hour behind" and "would you like a bottle of water?". This was probably the worst experience I have EVER had at a Dr's office hands down!!!! Plus, why is a dermatologist doing lipo? I had just lost my father a month prior on December 8th, 2014; he refused medical attention from anyone, but me so I had to get special clearance to even treat him in the last days of his life. Then weeks prior (09 Jan 2015) to my appointment I lost my service animal, best friend and mascot (for the zoological rescue I am the Director of) who helps me with stress related PTSD. 29 Jan 2015: I called to confirm my appointment in Palm Springs for facial, fillers and consultation. 30 Jan 2015: (my birthday), 0908 I had come out from VIRGINIA (3,000 miles away) to see a specific staff member at Contour. I had booked a week prior, filled out the necessary forms and submitted them online asap.This way I did not have to do it in the office. I received a phone call asking me to change my appointment time. I was in the Palm Springs office parking lot as they called. I was informed "Coy is double booked" and they had tried to reach me on several occasions" but I had spoken to their office the day prior; WTF? I was told the day prior my appointment was in Palm Springs office. Nope Rancho Mirage. So I rescheduled and push back another afternoon appointment previous confirmed. 1200 (Noon) Rancho Mirage Offices. I get there and have the BEST FACIAL EVER!!! by Coy James. He met me immediately in the waiting room. After my facial appointment I needed product for m Roscea, Young lady helped Coy pick the perfect items for me. BUT I was whisked to the front waiting area then called back by LaRue before I could even find out what I needed in products or even how to apply them. HIGH Pressure sales from LaRue about a neck tightening procedure before my consult with Dr. Jochen. So I am confused, she acted like she was doing me a favor "squeezing me in". My appointment was supposed to be asap, In the waiting area I called and pushed back my other schedule appointment back another hour. I then sat in exam room #4 so long I ended up pacing like a caged animal. I could hear the staff talking to each other wondering why I was still in the room waiting. "Where is Dr Jochen?", "Why is she still in there?" I called my afternoon appointment and pushed it back again another hour. Dr Jochen breezed in for a few moments where I tried to ask him a few questions about what procedures I was interested in. He said "no fillers if you want a mini face lift or neck procedure the next week. I was WAY beyond that and needed invasive now". Plus my lips were off so much he stated they are "so bad it is distracting". NICE.He then left, I was now beyond mad. LaRue came back in to high pressure sales talk to me again. I stated is this how a consultation goes. She said I had not booked one.The reason I had not received a confirmation was I HAD GIVEN THEM WRONG CONTACT INFORMATION. But no one would show me where I had made a mistake. I repeated what I had told staff on the phone and when I called to verify as I received no confirmation. All the while talking to me like I was inconveniencing her. No one had the forms printed I had submitted via email until I began asking repeatedly how did this happen. I could no longer take it and just wanted to leave, began to cry again. Now no time for anything I wanted to do, but check out.. Once again, we are sorry we have no idea. She has my forms, points to my emergency contact and says, see you put the wrong number. I point to the line above and said, nope. She then asks me how I liked my products, I had still not even seen them. In massive anger I state WTF! Am I being punked? She rushes off to get what they had pulled for me at the rear building and I call my appointment to push back to the next day. I am charged 50% off of facial and full price for products. I scheduled a consultation at Palm Springs office for Monday, 02 Feb 2015 and another facial procedure with Coy in Palm Springs. on 05 Feb 2015. 01 Feb 2015: I thought about how terrible their customer services was and I call and email telling them I am canceling my Monday appointment. Not Thursday 04 Feb 2015: get a text from Coy James stating they let him go. I now fear it was due to his being my friend. Later on that afternoon they call to reschedule my appointment with Coy as he "would not be in the office" that day. Lies again. I canceled the appointment by saying are you f%^king kidding me. I know why he will not be in. Try telling the truth for once. NEVER GO HERE!!!! read more

Have been to the office and it is very professional and have been pleased with the Doctor, staff, and service. The previous reviewer (not even a patient by his own account) should not have been permitted by Yelp to leave a review as the forum is only for current or former patients. As a health care provider myself, charging for a consultation is most reasonable... otherwise offices would be inundated with persons that just come in for free evaluations - and unfortunately that doesn't pay the rent. Anyways, the charge being applied to any procedures is most fair and reasonable. We are aware of many patients that have been pleased with their service and overall experience. Be wary of blatant negative reviews - they may be from competitors - unfortunately Yelp doesn't seem to care to filter. read more

I honestly cannot say enough great things about Dr. Jochen. I'm not one to review many businesses, especially a doctor, but today I saw my face look instantly younger. I received botox around my forehead and also Juvaderm on my cheeks. I have had fillers before, and never saw a difference, honestly. However, this time I immediately noticed I now have my cheeks back! :) I'm so happy and excited about it! Oh, and Dr. Jochen is so very nice, personable, and friendly. He's easy to talk to.
