We were three people at Timothy O'Toole's Pub, and what happened to my pregnant friend was nothing short of discrimination. She ordered non‑alcoholic beer, the server knew she was pregnant, and still treated her like she was drunk when she briefly closed her eyes from fatigue. When I explained -- again -- that she is pregnant, the server said "I know, it's our policy" and walked away. No apology. No basic respect. If the owners imagine someone they love being pregnant and spoken to like that, they would understand how unacceptable this behavior is. So I'm in Chicago for a weeks long conference, staying at the Hilton Grand Vacations (fancy name for a couple of the Doubletree's upper level floors, when they are trying to peddle a timeshare). I was looking for a place to hang out and watch games during my stay, and it just so happens the best place I found was right next door! A quick count of televisions totaled 42, and I'm sure I missed some. The bartenders/servers are more than willing to switch a TV to the game if your choice, provided nobody is watching what is currently on. This is my third night in a row here, and I cannot understate the awesome service I've received consistently over the three nights I've been a patron. I have not tried the food, but it looks and smells legit. I've met some of the locals, who are super friendly and welcoming. I look forward to coming here again next year! read more

This is one of my favourite bars in all of Chicago, but today I saw a very different side of it where my whole group and I got kicked out. It was unreasonable, and disrespectful. My friend was dragged out by his neck, and still has marks on his neck from the whole episode. We aren't quite sure why we were asked to leave, but we were. And none of it was nicely handled. When we tried to talk through it we were pushed to the security guards who didn't quite listen to anything that we were saying. This has tainted my experience of the bar for good, and I'm unfortunately very hesitant to go back. We ordered some Mozz Sticks to start and they were good, not great bar food. For mains, my 15 year old had a plain burger (boring), my wife and I had the O'Toole's original burger. It can be very busy at times, which is not a surprise. They have a lot of TVs and is a great place to watch sporting events. For starters, they have a great beer menu. I had a few different ones and was pleased. They actually had some contest that if you drank a dozen with the holiday theme you could get a t-shirt. On one visit we had the nachos with guacamole. These were definitely above average. They were full of cheese and beans. They were heated well so the cheese really cooked well and the chips were nice and warm, then the guacamole was really good. I am declaring Timothy O'Toole's the best sports bar in Streeterville! I've been here a handful of times over the years and it never disappoints. It is a large, loud, barroom, with lots of tv's. My wife and stopped-in most recently on Friday December 29th. We were in the area and looking for a good place to catch the Purdue men's basketball game. O'Toole's is located in the basement of 622 N Fairbanks. We headed down the stairs (which are a bit steep) - and the place was packed. We were lucky to find two open seats at the bar. I had BBQ Wings, and my wife had the Michigan Wrap with fries. We split a cup of French Onion Soup. Everything was tasty, and paired well with a Purdue victory! Service was quick and professional. Stepping into Timothy O'Toole's was such a relief--it was late on a Friday, we were tired, and it was pretty much the only place open past midnight near our hotel. The immediate walk downstairs gave it this cool, hidden "speakeasy" vibe that I instantly loved. Our waitress was named Bryy, and honestly, she made the night. She was incredibly warm, chatting with us like we were old friends and making us feel right at home. We trusted her recommendations completely! We started with her suggestion of the Birria egg rolls and added a side of the buffalo boneless wings, grabbing a Pinot Noir and a Jack and Coke for drinks. Even though the place was busy, our food and drinks arrived quickly, and Bryy checked on us frequently to make sure we were okay. The food was genuinely delicious. The boneless wings were perfectly crunchy and had a really good kick to the spice level. The birria egg rolls were great too; the dipping sauce wasn't spicy or super authentic tasting, but the rolls themselves hit the spot. We were having such a great time soaking up the atmosphere. It's totally a sports bar--there were like 10 TVs just in our little corner alone, which was really impressive for the space! This is a very lively place! We went here for a late dinner, and the place was packed. Looks like there were a number of people here who were from various conferences on town.
