We ordered some Mozz Sticks to start and they were good, not great bar food. For mains, my 15 year old had a plain burger (boring), my wife and I had the O'Toole's original burger. Simple burger with lettuce and onions. They have other, more adventurous burgers. My other kid had the turkey club. All were really yummy, and I can say the burger was really good. It can be very busy at times, which is not a surprise. They have a lot of TVs and is a great place to watch sporting events. For starters, they have a great beer menu. I had a few different ones and was pleased. They actually had some contest that if you drank a dozen with the holiday theme you could get a t-shirt. On one visit we had the nachos with guacamole. These were definitely above average. They were full of cheese and beans. They were heated well so the cheese really cooked well and the chips were nice and warm, then the guacamole was really good. All areas have good views of different screens and they do well alternating games so you can see multiple things at once. No audio when I went, but maybe for local/bigger games. They played great music instead-early/mid 2000s party type, so it hit my age well and felt energetic, but the place isn't packed out. Little Timmy burger was good, though fried were a bit plain. Perfect consistency on the fries, and a little salt/pepper/ketchup fixed the lack of seasoning. Menu is diverse and well priced, including drinks. Expect to sit among a mix of people who work at the hospital and tourists staying at one of the many hotels nearby. Expect sports on a screen in front of you no matter where you're sitting. Apps are okay if you want deep-fried things. Not awesome. The best thing we had was the deep-fried pickles. Probably wouldn't order any other apps again. My wife and stopped-in most recently on Friday December 29th. We were in the area and looking for a good place to catch the Purdue men's basketball game. O'Toole's is located in the basement of 622 N Fairbanks. We headed down the stairs (which are a bit steep) - and the place was packed. We were lucky to find two open seats at the bar. I had BBQ Wings, and my wife had the Michigan Wrap with fries. We split a cup of French Onion Soup. Everything was tasty, and paired well with a Purdue victory! Service was quick and professional. Prices are in-line with other similar restaurants in the area. Timothy O'Toole's is always solid. I recommend it if you are in the area and looking for a place to catch a game. read more

AVOID FOR WATCHING SPORTS They know how to *take* the reservation, but don't know how to *hold* the reservation. Cancelled all reservations ON THE DAY OF for the CFP National Championship, leaving us stranded, disallowed the privilege of buying 4 hours worth of beer and food. We'd had a reservation for ~a week after failing to walk-in for a conference championship game: then, they had a largely empty bar, but they were "fully reserved" and turned us away. Go figure. The second time I wanted to order it again, but it left the menu. So I instead ordered the Birria Grilled Cheese, which was okay, but not my favorite. Stepping into Timothy O'Toole's was such a relief--it was late on a Friday, we were tired, and it was pretty much the only place open past midnight near our hotel. The immediate walk downstairs gave it this cool, hidden "speakeasy" vibe that I instantly loved. Our waitress was named Bryy, and honestly, she made the night. She was incredibly warm, chatting with us like we were old friends and making us feel right at home. We trusted her recommendations completely! We started with her suggestion of the Birria egg rolls and added a side of the buffalo boneless wings, grabbing a Pinot Noir and a Jack and Coke for drinks. Even though the place was busy, our food and drinks arrived quickly, and Bryy checked on us frequently to make sure we were okay. The food was genuinely delicious. The boneless wings were perfectly crunchy and had a really good kick to the spice level. The birria egg rolls were great too; the dipping sauce wasn't spicy or super authentic tasting, but the rolls themselves hit the spot. We were having such a great time soaking up the atmosphere. It's totally a sports bar--there were like 10 TVs just in our little corner alone, which was really impressive for the space! It is pretty noisy, so maybe not the best place for little kids, but it's perfect for hanging out with friends or grabbing a late-night drink. This is a very lively place! We went here for a late dinner, and the place was packed. Looks like there were a number of people here who were from various conferences on town. The waiter thankfully put us into a quieter corner. "Quieter" is relative though, as the place is pretty loud. We got the Reuben sandwich with coleslaw and a Cuban sandwich with tots. My husband ordered the shepherd's pie because it was one of the restaurant's most recommended items (according to the menu), and he was very disappointed in what he received. The shepherd's pie was incredibly old -- the potatoes on top looked like they had been frozen and then heated in the oven. It was disgusting and repulsive. I wanted to complain to the waiter, but my husband asked me not to. I ordered a side salad, which was fine, and the pretzel trio. The pretzels were over cooked and dry. Don't snooze on their Reuben Egg Rolls which are a direct copy of a reuben sandwich in taste, but the texture of the egg roll was crunchy. A very creative way to have a reuben without comitting to a sandwich. Now it was time for my favorite item here which are their traditional wings. They have a variety of flavors, but we went with their Irish Ghost, Buffalo, and Garlic Parmesan. The Garlic Parmesan was the right ratio of cheesy to garlicky. Crispy exterior, and I really enjoyed these on their own with no dipping sauce. The Irish Ghost reminded me of the Buffalo flavor, but this definitely had a mild kick of spice to it as well. The Buffalo wings were solid, and my favorite combo in bar food history is a nice buffalo wing with some blue cheese.
