Consistently a disappointment. Went there a few months ago and totally screwed up my order of bacon ranch Mac and cheese. They have me buffalo chicken mac and cheese and when I asked them to fix it it still tastes like buffalo. Thought I would give them a second chance. We walked into the restaurant and people were sitting on the benches hanging out and low and behold they were employees. So I ordered oven roasted wings with sauce on the side. They brought me fried wings smothered in sauce. I asked them to fix it and 2 minutes later I had wings that looked fried and tasted of the sauce I ordered as if they just wiped the sauce off. The hostess was walking around drinking milk and when we left 4 servers were sprawled out on the benches up front. The ledges by the tables had dust that was caked on. Disgusting. We sat at the bar. We sat there for 15 mins before anyone said anything to us. The bartender seemed irritated with every question we asked him. We decided to ask the other bartender who was a bit more helpful but was preoccupied with the other staff. It seemed as if the staff wanted to hanged out near the register and talk. Ordered takeout. The chicken cob salad didn't have any dressing (should have come with balsamic vinaigrette) and there was no avocado or cucumber. I was very excited to try this place when my customers came in talking about it but I find myself disappointed. It says that the restaurant is open until 1am everyday but Sunday but me and my friend went there at 9pm on a Tuesday and it was closed which is confusing because we called there around 8pm making sure no reservations was needed and that they had room for us and the hostess I talked to said yes. Not only that but the restaurant is so far from the parking lot we couldn't even see it was closed until parking and walking all the way up to the front door, thought the place has mysteriously closed for good until I heard of another of my customers going there later that week. Went in for a nice dinner last night and there were a rowdy group of people in the dining room. They were celebrating a birthday, but could not have been more rude. They were constantly getting loud with their servers, and shouting about them as they walked away. I was just trying to have a nice quiet evening out with my husband. Timothys offers a private room for such large parties. I don't understand how some people can take over 15 people to a restaurant like Timothys and expect the royal treatment. Timothys is a sports pub, so the kind of food you would expect. Quick bites, delicious pastas, and all around amazing burgers. This is my go to spot. One of the most over looked places on the river front! The crabby dip is to die for, the bar has a welcoming atmospherefor all walks of life, and the staff has an excellent understanding of the menu and all give a comfortable feel which leaves you with the urge to visit again soon. I'm sitting a Timothy's On the Riverfront and I am astounded about what just happened. I ordered the Steak Frites medium well. I received a chunk of tough bleeding steak ( somewhere between medium and medium rare. When I told the server he asked me to give him my plate so that he could warm up my steak. When I asked how it would be warmed he said that they would put it back on the grill! Yuck! I had cut the steak multiple times to determine if anything was salvageable. I had to say that it wasn't a good idea and then he asked if I wanted him to just to bring a whole new dish. Ummm, yeah! I was really shocked by this. Also I was surprised that Steak Frites at this restaurant is a big chunk of tough steak! The only positive is that my mom liked her ribs and the kid pizza and hamburger were good. So, 2 stars. Had dinner/happy hour here early in the evening with my family after seeing the yelp reviews, and the fact that they have buy-one-get-one-free burgers during HH advertised on their website. As we ordered our burgers, our very handsome, Russian waiter was unaware that they had the special, so he had to go and ask the manager, but came back with happy news. While I was skeptical about the taste of a burger that has a bar special, my kobe beef burger with provolone and caramelized onions came out surprisingly good. So good in fact, I ended up eating THE. WHOLE. BURGER. (which was pretty big for a girl of my stature). I guess I must of been hungry... I also liked the fact that fries come standard as a mix of regular and sweet potato fries. I often find myself in a horrible predicament, being that I love both. So thanks, Timothy's, you eased my indecisiveness considerably that day. They also had trivia that night (Tuesday), which is a plus since apparently they don't have Geeks Who Drink in DE (get on that Delaware!! You don't know what you're missing out on!) but we were too stuffed to stay an extra hour. I've not been here in awhile but it was always good. Not yesterday. When I got there, I sat at the bar and watched 5 or 6 bartenders talking and drinking at the end of the bar, which was more than half empty. After 5 minutes or so, I waved my arms but still nobody looked over. Finally a bartender saw me but had an attitude when he came over-not friendly AT ALL.My friends arrived and we moved to a table. At first, there were multiple waiters coming to our table and they were very nice but that didn't last. At one point, I had to go get my own drink because there wasn't a waiter around for quite some time although the place was not crowded. The nachos weren't very good. Although the waiter said they were pulled pork, they were actually barbecue pork which I don't like. And yes, I agree with other reviews that the drinks are watered down and I was charged $12 for one vodka and soda...really? There was so much staff, so few customers it doesn't make sense. They all just stand around and talk! I won't be going going back there and will tell my colleagues not to since we work I the City of Wilmington. read more

Happened upon Timothy's by chance when out on a Saturday drive with my parents. They wanted to walk the River Front, I wanted to drink beer. I walked inside and there was 6 waitress' sitting waiting for people to come in, it was a ghost town. I sat at the Bar and ordered a Guinness, drank that and decided to switch to the Yuengling. I was told by the bartender Stacy that they were on special for $2.00.. $2.00 beers on a Saturday.. you can't go wrong. I enjoyed the beer, and the bartender.. she was a good conversation. My husband and I came here after a previous failed attempt at finding a place for dinner. In the end, things turned out better! We had an attentive, super friendly waiter and the outdoor seating was great. The seating was in the corner so we could get the full effect of the breeze coming off the water and the ambient lighting was wonderful. My $12.00 cheesesteak tasted rubbery and the fries tasted like crappy school cafeteria French fries: soggy and luke warm. This is one of the nicer places to sit outside in Wilmington for a quiet drink and/or meal and it's the one place right on the riverfront that will let us have our small dog with us, so it's disappointing to have only a poor review to offer. Essentially, poor management and training of the wait staff lead to a mediocre experience. We've been here a number of times (though we won't be going again) and, invariably, the hostess places only the food menu on the table as she seats you. Once the waiter arrives, you then have to ask for the drinks menu, which he/she has to go back and get. Why do they do this? It isn't standard practice in other restaurants, and it only creates an unnecessary delay -- as our most most recent visit testifies. Once we got the drinks menu, it then took the waiter three back-and-forth trips to work out which of the beers listed were actually available -- a fraction of those on the menu. Our appetizer arrived before the beer, so we had to eat it without a drink. And the drinks arrived 25 minutes after we'd first been seated. The food itself is unexceptionable; the problem is the time it takes to get served and the inefficiency of a wait staff which is always pleasant but generally doesn't seem fully prepared. read more

By far the worst dining experience I've had in some time. The half hour wait was expected, like most places on a Saturday night. When we did get seated, I didn't expect to only see 5 total occupied tables in the dining area. We were told of a delay in everything because they only have 2 bartenders serving a room full of guests. Fine. But we weren't here for the bar. We waited for a waitress to take out order. Took forever. 3 kids and 3 adults, the meals would be quick to order and worth the wait right?? Nope. It took 45 minutes to get the 3 adult plates to the table. They still forgot the onion rings for one of the plates. The 3 kids meals were another 15 minutes. 15 extra minutes for 2 chicken finger plates and a freak'n hot dog. The entire dining experience took about 3 hours and the crappy service, wrong/missing food, cold adult plates, and late kids plates all culminated into a horrid dining experience. I went to this bar on 6/24 with a friend and had a good experience. We both had drinks and I ate boneless wings. So I decided to go back the next day with 2 other friends. We had drinks, ate pizza and fries. My first Tangueray and tonic was very weak but I contributed this to the younger bartender. I drank it and immediately ordered another with the other bartender. No this place water down their drinks. So we ate dinner and paid the bill. Not thinking, we did not leave a tip. A man approached us at the door and questioned our service. When I started to say one bartender was better than the other, he started telling us how much they make and it's not fair for us not to leave a tip. When his voice got louder, I walked off. He proceeded to follow us out to the sidewalk and tell me I was acting like a 3 year old and holler that we are no longer welcome at his bar and not to return. At this time one person in the party stated to yell back, I politely tell her to walk away. I would of had no problem tipping, I did it very generously the night before but when you walk out and holler at me for not tipping, I will keep my money in my pocket. The man said he was the owner, I'm not sure. But if this is what he does for not getting a tip I don't need to patronize his business ever again. Who tries to shame a customer into giving a tip? Met my college roomie here for lunch several weeks ago. We typically meet in this little riverfront section to have lunch, and we usually go to Iron Hill, but decided to branch out this time, and Timothy's had crab dip so and wasn't Joe's Crab Shack, so it won. The crab dip was pretty good, as was the chips and dip they bring out. We both ordered crab cakes (even though I don't really believe in ordering crab cakes not in Maryland, Delaware usually gets a pass) and it was a poor choice. Dry, minimal flavor. Good fries, though.
