On Sunday afternoon of March 13, 2022, the kids and I were on our way to Raising Cane's to pick up a quick snack when we walked by Tim's Kitchen. One of their window posters displayed a Sesame Ball plate for sale which immediately caught my eye. I literally stopped in the middle of our trek to Cane's and walked back to Tim's to order these dessert balls. Why not? A Sesame Ball order of six for $3.50 + tax isn't a bad price to try out their versions of one of my favourite Chinese desserts. The venue is super small - maximum capacity can't be more than forty in the dining room. It's a no frills eatery, so don't expect to be impressed by any decor. The exterior can be confusing because the sign for SWEETHONEY DESSERT, the former business, is still displayed. In fact, while I was outside, photographing the front entrance of Tim's, a small group of people arrived for SWEETHONEY to find that it was no longer in existence. They were definitely bummed out. Oddly, even though my receipt was for Tim's Kitchen, my credit card account reflected that my charge was for SWEET HONEY. We didn't wait very long for my Sesame Ball order to be fried up. I was excited to try one, fresh from the kitchen. The balls were perfectly sphere, but I was surprised that they were soft with no crisp at bite and slightly chewy, to my disappointment. The red bean taste was also a little off-tasting, in my opinion. My husband found them to be on the bland side. Service was friendly and fast, but I don't think that we will be back. read more

Meandered in here after checking Yelp for prospects. So glad we did. Good prices, portions and service! Ok on with it.... Pretty full house of all Asian students. Good sign. Last week Allen N. posted his picture of roast pork from Aiea. Literally, it was our old stomping grounds before moving to Cali. So for a full week, we debated where to find roaat pork locally. Thankfully, Davis has Tim's AND the roast pork was excellent. Crunchy skin, juicy middle, and not too salty. Perfect over rice and balanced with a side of broccoli, carrots, and radish. They provide a dipping sauce but it was flavorful enough without it. Also got a honey lemon tea with our take out order. Loved the great service, didn't take long at all, and it was reasonably priced. We will be back to try other menu items! read more

Tim's Kitchen used to be located on 3rd street, which is now a T%. When they shut that location down, I was bummed because decent HK style cafe's are rare in the Sacramento area, and Tim's Kitchen is definitely a good one in my opinion. To my surprise while perusing Yelp one day, Tim's Kitchen showed up (and not shown as closed) but in a different location. Knowing this, I made it a priority to come check it out asap. The new location is so much better than the last (two blocks away from their previous location). This new location is bigger and better with obviously more dine in seating. The food and menu is the same as it was before, and the food is just as good as I remembered. When we dined in here, we were the only ones that ate in. However, there was a lot of take out orders. Most of their entrees come with a drink. My go to order is the baked pork chop with tomato sauce. So glad that they didn't completely shut down and only just moved down the street! read more

This spot popped out without me noticing until I walked by one day and saw they have some delicious looking HK style Chinese food. I ordered one of the HK cafe classics, baked pork chop with tomato sauce over spaghetti. Very tasty and a good amount of food for $10! The layer of toasty cheese on top make it so much better. The dish is cheesey, sweet from the ketchup tomato sauce, and the pork chop is delicious. Lots of food for not too much money. The food is just okay though. I'm Chinese so I'm always looking for good Chinese food in Davis. This is probably the worst Chinese food I've had in Davis. It still isn't bad but after having it a couple of times, I realized it's kind of cheap tasting. The prices are good so you get what you pay for, I suppose, but I think it's worth a few extra dollars to go somewhere else. I'd still get it if I was trying to feed a lot of people but not for just me. Beef chow fun is usually how I determine how good a Chinese place is. The noodles are just kind of lacking and the beef is sad. Not a lot of flavor and kind of dry. The same goes for the other dishes I tried. read more

The food here is great been here a few times already. The meals do come with either a soda or honey lemon tea which is a Hong Kong style drink. The service is great but during busy hour you'll have to be patient since there's only one worker for the store front. The place is very clean and it's located at the end of downtown so parking isn't super hard either. Definitely come try this if you're in Davis. This place has got to be one of the best places to go for Hong Kong Style food. The dishes we had were amazing and the black pepper pork chop spaghetti just how mama make it so good!!! CLOSED MONDAYS I love this place, but unfortunately their hours aren't posted on yelp or online anywhere. It's amazing that they have a restaurant with Hong Kong Style food in the Davis Area. I ordered the Baked Pork Chop with Cream Sauce over Rice and it was so flavorful! The cheese is perfectly gooey and the cream sauce is very tasty without being overpowering. The pork chop itself was well seasoned and crunchy. I appreciate that there were a couple of broccoli florettes on the side too. In my order there was enough for two meals, so the portions are very generous. The service is excellent! I believe that if you order inside at the register you can get a free drink included with your meal. I had the milk tea with boba, and it was delicious! Not too sweet and on par with other chain milk tea and certainly generous for the price. There is very limited indoor seating, and a few seats available for outdoor seating. Got take out for lunch here, and the place was very empty. However, their takeout (doordash?) were off the charts. I can't believe there were canto style food in the Davis area, and I had to try for myself. The service can be slow - front desk was empty and I waited a while (short staffed likely). The indoor vibe was nice, but I was in a hurry. I ordered baked pork chop rice and Hainan chicken. Both were decently good, but the Hainan chicken's rice could be more flavorful. I ordered a combo B which I chose (tomato chicken spaghetti, 6 chicken wings and a lemon iced tea) which was about 15 bucks. The portion sizes are great, especially for someone like me who eats a lot :) the chicken was so tender. My kids don't really like meat, but my 3 yo totally approved and ate almost the whole chicken steak We also ordered the half Hainanese chicken which was silky smooth and tender, it was bomb. Plus they give you a good amount of that green ginger sauce! The roast pork had a really crunchy skin and the meat was good! The drink sizes are so large in comparison to other restaurants which is amazing! Definitely coming back more frequently since their food is so good and now they have so many tables! We ordered a baked prawns with cream sauce over rice and another over spaghetti. We also got some chicken wings. The rice and spaghetti looked way better than the pictures shown on DoorDash (not sure why they haven't updated that). The rice and spaghetti taste pretty authentic, like the ones I'd get from other Hong Kong-styled places. I've always preferred the cream sauce over the tomato sauce, so this was perfect for me. When we ordered these off DoorDash, they were giving complimentary egg puffs and we ended up with three free egg puffs (one with each of the two entrees and another for ordering more than $15). The egg puffs is not like the ones I'm used to eating, which has a smooth outer shell and a fluffy center. Their egg puffs almost feel cakey, like a madeleine. The chicken wings were slightly on the oily side but definitely tasty and very well seasoned. Overall, I would order everything again. read more

We have been waiting a few weeks for Tim's Kitchen to open and can now say with confidence that it was worth the wait! We tried the Hainanese Chicken Rice Plate & Crispy Pork Belly Rice Plate as takeout and both were excellent. Both were mouthwatering and really hit the spot. Dishes also came with pickled veggies and honey lemon tea which helped round out the savory with sour. The serving sizes here are quite generous so you will definitely get great value! Although we didn't dine in, the restaurant looked clean and the staff was very nice.
