Got take out for lunch here, and the place was very empty. However, their takeout (doordash?) were off the charts. I can't believe there were canto style food in the Davis area, and I had to try for myself. The service can be slow - front desk was empty and I waited a while (short staffed likely). The indoor vibe was nice, but I was in a hurry. I ordered baked pork chop rice and Hainan chicken. Both were decently good, but the Hainan chicken's rice could be more flavorful. The pork chop rice was good, but will likely order the noodle next time. Looking forward to returning to try other dishes. read more

So glad they moved from the old sweet honey spot! They definitely deserve a bigger dining area. This place has a good amount of space and we sat much more comfortably. They just opened not too long ago at this new location. I really love their food. It's the traditional type of HK style food and being Canto, this is my jam! Their combos are also awesome. I ordered a combo B which I chose (tomato chicken spaghetti, 6 chicken wings and a lemon iced tea) which was about 15 bucks. The portion sizes are great, especially for someone like me who eats a lot :) the chicken was so tender. My kids don't really like meat, but my 3 yo totally approved and ate almost the whole chicken steak We also ordered the half Hainanese chicken which was silky smooth and tender, it was bomb. Plus they give you a good amount of that green ginger sauce! The roast pork had a really crunchy skin and the meat was good! The drink sizes are so large in comparison to other restaurants which is amazing! Definitely coming back more frequently since their food is so good and now they have so many tables! We have been waiting a few weeks for Tim's Kitchen to open and can now say with confidence that it was worth the wait! We tried the Hainanese Chicken Rice Plate & Crispy Pork Belly Rice Plate as takeout and both were excellent. Both were mouthwatering and really hit the spot. Dishes also came with pickled veggies and honey lemon tea which helped round out the savory with sour. The serving sizes here are quite generous so you will definitely get great value! Although we didn't dine in, the restaurant looked clean and the staff was very nice. Next time we visit, it's going to be tough to choose between trying out the other menu items or getting these delicious dishes again! read more

Came here on New Year's Eve and had a terrific meal! I ordered the Black pepper steak combo which came with a drink of choice and an appetizer, a really great deal. I got spaghetti with my steak and the portion was generous, and the honey lemon tea was delicious too! We had their potstickers for appetizer- superb flavor and the dipping sauce paired really well. Our table also ordered a plate of Hainan chicken, stir fried bok choy, and crispy pork belly. Everything had wonderful seasoning and were cooked just right! When I fancy for a Hong Kong style pork chop baked rice, this is the place to go. The owners are very nice and always offer a drink when we dine in. Their neon tea is delicious and refreshing. The only problem we had during our visit (first time) was that we waited for 1hour 10mins before our food arrived! the server told us they had only one chef in kitchen but they could have told us when we placed the order. The crispy pork is hands down some of the best in Davis. Order the spicy pig ears extra spicy if you like it with more of a kick. But wow that crispy pork belly has me wanting more! read more

Hong Kong cafe food in Davis! Really affordable and pretty good deal for their food items. Their entrees are on average about $10-12 which is a pretty good deal because the portion size are big and usually comes with a complimentary drink (and some time egg puffs). Pork Chop rice: I recommend their pork chop rice (with tomato sauce, no cheese). I've also tried it with white cream sauce but it just didn't have that traditional hong kong style taste to me. In term of portion size, there's a lot of rice so it's large enough to be shared amongst 2-3 people. Additional: I've tried the Hainan chicken rice. Sadly, it's not really Hainan chicken rice... it's more of chicken with rice (no broth). read more

Just found this place the other day! I'm so excited to have HK cafe food in Davis (it's been ages since I've been back to Oakland Chinatown). Staff is nice (I always see the auntie and the one cook, and both are very sweet), food is good, and portion sizes are generous! I ordered a Hainanese chicken rice, which came with a drink, and gailan (chinese broccoli). Total was only ~15$ and I will be fed for days hahaha. Chicken was moist and tender, and the ginger/green onion sauce was really good. Peanuts seemed fresh roasted. HK black lemon tea was the best I've had! Food might take a bit longer to come out, but it's worth the wait-- feels like care was put into it, and makes me feel a little homesick. Will definitely be coming back :) read more

Food is tasty and great customer service! The rice had corn and egg in it. The sauce was creamy. If you order in person you get a free drink. You can also scan a QR code that they have outside on tables and windows but you won't get a free drink. They accidentally gave my friend spaghetti instead of rice but offered to give us free drinks. Pretty good Hainanese chicken rice. The side green onion and ginger oil that's goes with the chicken oil was overly salty. The stomach intestine has a spice numbing flavor which is great because I love spicy food. Bummer that their free drink is now only soda or water. Past pictures of offers they had they were offering milk tea and honey lemon tea but not anymore. read more

Chinese cafe style food with substantial size and variety of combinations for a relatively good price. Besides combos, their individual plates satisfy a variety of palettes should their main attraction not appeal to you. After the good reviews we decided to try Tim's Kitchen and ordered two dishes that had earned some praise-- the Hainan chicken and pork belly. Both were barely edible. The accompanying rice was dry, devoid of any flavoring. The vegetables had been steamed, again with no trace of flavoring. Maybe it's the style of Chinese, but it's not for us. They packed everything really nicely and we served it up as soon as we got home. Their rice noodle rolls are so flavorful and I love the sweet, salty and savory sauce that comes with it. The noodles are really filling, and the dishes we got would be enough food for 2-4 people depending on how hungry you are. We ate the rice rolls right away and then had leftover green beans and beef and mushrooms for lunch today. The green beans were fresh and had a great garlic flavor, without it being too much. The Beef and Mushrooms was great, the beef was tender and flavorful and the mushrooms soaked up all the sauce. There were also green beans in this dish, which was a perfect addition. I really need to dine in soon for the full experience, but take-out has always been a win for me.

The Golden Pumpkin and Shrimp is a must order here. It is savory and delicious and has a great juxtaposition of textures, crunchy and soft. The interior is a typical suburban Chinese restaurant complete with signs on the wall with photos of what you can order. Complete with Lazy Susans and lucky plants.

It doesn't look like a lot of food because it comes out in plastic containers, but we were pretty satisfied by the amount of food that we got. The star of the show were definitely the pan fried buns. They were super crispy and well fried on the outside, and the inside was delicious. Lots of juice, well seasoned, perfectly cooked in my opinion. There's a QR code taped to the table, you scan, you order your food and drinks, you pay, and the wait staff brings you your food. The staff is very respectful, very polite, and attentive when you need something. Diners tip: with a Yelp check-in, they offer a free beverage. This is such a wonderful bonus, especially in today's economy. Everything we ordered was delicious. I really enjoy watching what happens in the kitchen, and much of the seating is situated so that you can see through the glass walls, so you know the food is incredibly fresh. Beef pan fried dumplings: the pan fry is perfect and it's presented with the fried side up and is super tasty! One of the things that was immediately impressive, was the fact that the dumplings are nice size, and the filling is tasty and generous. These were by far, my absolute favorite. Pork and cabbage: this tasty dumpling dish was actually a surprise. The cabbage was finally diced and mixed in with the pork. This also had a generous amount of filling, and it wasn't all cabbage, which is what I initially thought might happen. They were very meaty. Fried tofu: I love fried tofu and often make this at home. While this was tasty, this was my least favorite dish. I felt like it needed seasoning and perhaps a dipping sauce. For me, it fell flat based on what I thought we were going to get. We did create our own sauce at the table for dipping, and I was really looking for a different flavor profile. So that's pretty much on me. Drink: order the "tea" in the red can. It's commonly served in Asia, and it's a great digestive, especially when eating spicy foods. It works hand-in-hand. Plus, it's delicious! Unfortunately I found my Vietnamese coffee a little underwhelming. The coffee wasn't the usual strong, full of flavor Vietnamese coffee is used to but the banana pudding was delish.

Great flavor and freshness, if you like this style katsu (which I do). The short rib was juicy and well marinated. I really enjoyed it even as leftovers (because the portions are big!). I asked a lot of questions at the counter and the server was kind and helpful. Will come back with the family when we are in Davis.
