They sell many unique blends of teas and will custom prepare the amount you want versus the prepared selections etc. There were so many selections it was hard to choose but I bought a lovely blend of lemon and blueberry which is delicious. I use a teaspoon of tea leaves per cup and it's rich and bold flavor is perfect on its own or with a bit of honey. They sell many accessories as well and the gift ideas are endless. I loved all the special honey blends too as that's my go to in my tea. The staff was great and helped me figure out the type of tea I would enjoy. read more

Listen up, tea lovers!!! If you love loose tea, teapots, and other tea accessories, this is your place. The staff is very helpful if you need assistance selecting the best tea for your taste or needs. My personal faves are the Moroccan Mint and the Nettle Leaf, but I haven't tried as many as I would like. You can also buy just a cup of tea to enjoy then and there if you aren't interested in taking tea home. Love the shopping center location. There is a Barnes and Noble right next door and lots of cool shops. You can pick up some tea and then take a nice little stroll to do some window shopping. read more

This place is awesome! They have such a wide variety of teas and tea products. The clerk was super helpful in discussing what I like and the options that would work for me. I ended up buying a green rooibos that's white chocolate and pistachio flavored, which smells divine and is much more special than anything I could get at the grocery store. He also told us how the shop is owned by two brothers, which is a cool detail to learn and made the place feel extra special and homey. They have some lovely looking premade blends (my friend bought one called Rip Van Winkle, for example). They also have sampler packs which looked amazing- for example, 5 different kinds of decaf black tea, or 5 different kinds of chai, or 5 different kinds of jasmine. I would love to spend hours here! I am currently in my ~matcha era~ and recently evolved to wanting to make my own matcha lattes at home. Tin Roof Teas' Ceremonial Uji powder was noted to be best for casual drinkers and lattes, it was around $30 for the tin (I don't recall the exact number of grams). Having made a few matcha lattes with their powder now, it is overall pretty good! The lattes are a lovely vibrant green, very umami and more on the vegetal side. Microfoam doesn't really form though (although that could be from my whisking technique, only time will tell), and there is a bit of bitterness (not overwhelming). While their matcha selection isn't extensive, they had so many teas from around the world plus items to make the perfect cup of tea. They also have a tea bar serving up fresh cups for purchase! Lots of parking available, fast service, ambiance full of comforting tea fragrance. 8/10 would recommend! read more

I love a good tea and Tin Roof Teas has a huge variety of them! When we came in, the shop was clean and organized well. We were immediately greeted and were helped during our shopping process. Because of the staff being so helpful, I ended up buying quite a few bags, more than I originally expected to when I came in. Because there were so many flavors, I was honestly skipping a lot...so it was nice that were showing me flavor profiles that I would be interested in. I will say, however, that the teas are expensive and they didn't have any discounts or promotions going on, so I spent nearly $60 on tea...in this economy?? Either way, I was very happy with my selection and now I have an abundance of loose tea leaves to enjoy during these cold months! read more

My go-to tea place, for loose leaf and tea made there to drink as a special little treat. I've loved this place for the past 7 years and have been thrilled to see them doing well. The assortment of teas is excellent: many flavors and plain whites, blacks, and greens; lots of herbals; and house blended teas too. There always seems to be a new blend or tea when I go to refill my stash, every 4 or 6 months. I'm a big fan of chai teas and they have at least 5! My favorite right now is wedding chai. So good. The staff have always been great at helping me find the right tea, after many sniffs of a variety of leaves of course :) knowledgeable and friendly too. I love finding new tea shops and can't resist walking in. While in Cameron village I noticed Tin Roof Teas. The store is larger than it appears since it extends further back. The front of the shop is filled with various packaged teas, a wall of numerous loose leaf teas, tea sets, and a variety of tea-related products. The back of the shop has sale items and a cafe to purchase iced and hot tea. I love the comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff, and organized teas. The right side of the shop is not as organized as the left. They have a lot of product so it is a little cluttered. The loose leaf teas however are organized alphabetically and by type. I chose 100 grams of Lapsang Souchong and an iced mango tea to drink right away. Both employees greeted me and assisted me with my order. They answered my questions and helped me find what I was looking for. The tea is comparable in price to other specialty tea shops. If I could give a negative I would. I walked in the store 20 minutes ago and there was a salesman helping 2 white women and one sales lady behind the counter. I was not acknowledged but I looked around until he was finished. When the ladies left , he proceeded to the back where he had light banter with the other sales lady. He proceeded to make his tea and I then stood in front of the sales lady. He turned and said hello and I said hi. I stood there and nothing. Then I said what do I need to do to get assistance. He said "I spoke to you and you said nothing" . I wasn't about to go back and forth but I did say that I was leaving a review. I appreciated the wide variety of teas available, but the I think Tin Roof Teas could greatly benefit from a change in direction. Suggestion: Reduce the amount of inventory and invest in a comfortable seating area and personable staff - creating an experience for the customer that makes them want to come back and enjoy the tea they ordered. To that same point, my wife and I spoke at a whisper in response to the awkward ambiance and didn't feel like we could relax and enjoy ourselves. Upon visiting today, someone had called out and the worker was running the shop by himself. Phenomenal -- seriously a haven for the tea lover, and obviously run by someone with a genuine passion for tea! I stopped in here one afternoon because I had yet to get my husband a present for our anniversary, and recalled Erin W mentioning it as the place to go for tea. I wasn't expecting anything mind-blowing, honestly, but I thought I might be able to pick up some Keemun or Nilgiri, two of his favourites that aren't readily available in most shops. Was I in for a surprise! Not only did they have those teas on their Massive Wall of Leafy Tastiness, they had more than one variety of each! My brain shut off as I surveyed the plentiful options, but fortunately the young lady behind the counter must have been used to that response because she pressed a sample cup of the day's tea into my hand, pulled out the bins for each tea I mentioned for comparison and assured me that they have sample packs available. Much easier to make a decision that way! Along with the desired teas, I also bought some of the East Frisian Broken Blend, which is now my go-to morning tea, and while my husband wasn't able to try the teas when I gave them to him (surprise! tornado!), once he did we went back to the shop so he could have a few moments in Paradise himself. In addition to teas, Tin Roof also carries a wide variety of tea-brewing and storing supplies for many different styles and budgets as well as honeys, cupcakes and truffles, plus you can order a brewed cup of any of their teas to enjoy right away, which is a nice touch. A local tea shop that features a large variety of teas, tea accessories, and honeys. We chose the Ghost Pepper Honey, where ghost peppers are infused in clover honey. Ghost peppers are one of the hottest peppers in the world, and this honey had the heat. The honey itself lacked flavor. It's worth paying a little more for honey with ghost peppers or other unusual items, but they also sell plain honey that's rather pricey. The store was clean and well-lit. it's in a shopping center so it's easy to park. read more

Ryan has helped me organize two private tea tastings at his wonderful store. First one was with 9 people and the second with 12 and they've been both a blast. We got to sample different teas and our second tea tasting involved tea and cheese pairings. Ryan also went out of his way to get some unique irish cheese. We can't wait to go back. Tin Roof Teas is a fantastic little shop with a good variety of tea including a number of darjeelings, assams, and ceylons, a good selection of greens, and a smaller but still nice amount of whites, oolongs, herbals, and rooibus. Rooibuses? I admit I don't know the plural. The owner is knowledgeable and excited about tea, and is happy to have you smell things. He steeps using appropriate temperature water and a timer and my tea was perfect even though he was trying to help about three other people at the same time. The environment is pleasant and in addition to the wall of tea there is a lot of tea paraphernalia and also some other tea snacks and chocolate. There are two issues that caused me to give him a 4 rather than a 5. First, there is no tea menu, so if you have trouble reading the tea labels on the tins you may be in some trouble. I'm sure he'll help you out and when I asked he said he was working on a list and hoped to have it in January but has been focused on other aspects of the business. Second, this is strictly a place to pick up loose-leaf tea to brew elsewhere or to get a cup of tea to go. There's technically seating, but it's outdoors and therefore not really accessible in harsher weather conditions. read more

I came here for the first time for one of their monthly tea tastings, which was a sold out event (luckily someone dropped out, so I was able to get in!). I was really impressed by the store - definitely an upgrade from your Teavana's and other big tea stores. The selection, variety, and quality of the tea blends and flavors are all fantastic and creative, and trying to decide what to buy can quickly get overwhelming since everything looks so good. All the teas are also in glass display jars that you can open up and smell, to get an idea of what the tea would taste like. I definitely opened up more than a few, and the green teas in particular smelled incredibly fresh. They also have a tea bar, where I purchased a matcha tea that the owner himself prepared -- very good and prepared authentically. In the back are also a large assortment of local honeys and other kinds I've never seen before. They also carry chocolate bars from the good-quality chocolate makers like Theo, Lake Champlain, and local Escazu + a display case of big, fresh-looking and local-made truffles. The tea tasting itself was also excellent. All the flavors I tried were really interesting and tasty, with Fall themes including Pumpkin Rooibos and three different apple flavors. My favorite was probably Maple Taffy, which paired so well with their milk chocolate bar that it was like synergy. Someone who worked at Tin Roof was also sitting at our table and taking part in the tasting, and he was incredibly knowledgeable about teas and super friendly too. This place makes me want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on tea, but my tea collection was already overflowing so I restrained myself. The teas are on the pricier side, with most around $10 per bag (100g), but the quality is definitely good. I will definitely be visiting here again for my tea needs! read more

Its easy to spend your whole paycheck here if you arent careful; there is so much to try! I got a raspberry truffle as well as oreo truffle and it more than hit my sweet tooth spot.
