The food here is always delicious. All the food is so flavorful, and I am always trying something new. Prices are reasonable, (Averaging $10 per plate). I would have left 4 stars, but they were deducted a star not because of the hair that was in my plate, but because they didn't want to comp my plate, (considering I sat while my co-workers ate, and when I got my plate, they had to wait for me to finish and we were all late getting back to work). Hair was in : Kow Pad Poo--Crab meat fried rice with REAL crab! Overall, they are a good restaurant to eat at, and a hair in 1 plate can happen at any restaurant. Rubio's has you order up front, but at least they bring your food to you when it's ready and it's on glass plates / bowls with metal flatware. I love their food. Love it. Now that they have changed their operation from standard service to counter service, I am disappointed when I go there. The prices are the same, but you get zero service including busing your own table. I hate eating from paper plates and plastic utensils. If you don't go early, you will stand in line at an extremely congested counter area. What used to be a normal noise level is now replaced with the few remaining staff yelling out orders to pick up at the counter and incessant explanations to the people in line that they have changed their operation. I feel bad for the few staff that have stuck around. Constantly irritated by irritated customers, and no tips. I don't want this place to leave, but I also don't like the new setup. read more

Glad I discovered this gem as its nearby my workplace. Service is friendly and the food comes out quickly! Prices...are a bit high but the food tastes great and it seems to lean on the authentic side. Its spiced properly and not too sweet. Definitely recommend this restaurant. I expressed my experience with the Owner and the lack of taking my order over the phone Right she in a small nutshell when I arrive to the restaurant she never put my order through and my phone call was disconnected when I wasn't sure of the dish she expressed frustrations of taking my order rather than helping me as good customer service she hung up the phone when I arrived to the restaurant she hadn't even placed the order. Really. Making me late on my Lunch. One week later I return back to one of my favorite places to eat because oh my God the food is amazing don't get me wrong. My experience today was no one answered phone to place order so that I could do a pick up I called several times not to mention when I arrived she realized it was me I started to place my order as she told me to wait a minute and she moved away from the counter where she was taking my order then she proceeded to help other customers then she returned it back to me and told me it would be 15 to 20 or 30 minute wait I told her no problem she could take as much time as she wanted I could tell she was frustrated because of my previous yelp and that's probably why I was treated so poorly today I watched people come in sit down and eat while I still sat in the lobby waiting for my food she then threw my receipt when I signed it and asked me why I continue to come back. I really hate to do this but the woman that owns this place not of good quality customer service it's a shame she has amazing restaurant with great foods I guess will continue to bump heads because I will continue to eat the food. I have been to Tin Thai several times and it's consistently hit or miss. The food is pretty good but the service is HORRIBLE. The staff is a bunch of teenagers who say things like "yo" and "what's up" when they greet you at the door and forget what you ordered because they are too cool to write anythign down. Also, on several occasions we have had to wait over an hour for our food and when we complained, the manager offered nothing but lame excuses such as "we are a gourmet restaurant and do not prep anything in advance". I've never heard of a gourmet restaurant not prepping in advance but that is besides the point. Tin Thai may think they are gourmet, and their food might be good, but they really need to change their mind frame because at the end of the day they are really just a mis-managed hole in the wall restaurant in a strip mall in Livermore. Stop making excuses and just get the food out on time. read more

Disappointing. I've been eating here periodically for several years. Today, got the chicken drunken noodles, yellow curry with rice and the spicy basil beef. Yellow curry was mostly sauce and potatoes. The chicken was grisly and of low quality. The beef in the spicy basil beef was tough and there was clearly more vegetables than when it was previously bought. The drunken noodles were good, but again the chicken was of lower quality. Tin Thai has always been my favorite Thai restaurant. I hope they reassess what they are offering and provide customers better quality for their money. read more

Thai Food is in my top 5 cuisines so I am glad that this place is just down the street from me. Got TO GO a couple dishes for my mom and I to share and they were both delicious. Customer service and portions were on point; the only down side I had was that I felt like this place was a bit on the expensive side compared to some of the other Thai restaurants I've been to. BUT I did get the following dishes so it's still a toss up if prices really are a bit unreasonable: Grilled Skirt Steak - delicious, tender, and grilled to a perfect medium rare. Seafood Panang Curry - plentiful, tons of seafood (shrimp, scallops, squid, and fish filets), and the panang curry sauce was so good. I'd definitely go back for more! Our new favorite Thai restaurant in East Bay. Sorry Lanna Thai.... We accidentally stumbled upon this place as we were going to the Mexican restaurant next door. Good thing our stomachs were telling us to eat Thai food instead. The decor was very pleasant and it appears the tables and chairs were custom made. Things you must try: Drunken Chicken Noodle--extra spicy Kow Pad Poo--Crab meat fried rice with REAL crab! And not just itty, bitty pieces. You'll actually see and taste the crab. Delicious! Basil Beef--extray spicy. I was amazingly surprised at how flavorful this dish was. Get a side of sticky rice and you won't be disappointed. Yellow Chicken Curry--lots of onions and potatoes. Has a sweeter flavor to it. Shrimp Pad Thai--extra, extra spicy...but not spicy enough. Lots of huge shrimps. They sure are not stingy on the seafood here. Really yummy and flavorful. Pan Seared Sole--Fillet sole, sauteed napa, cabbage and yummy caramelized tamarind chili sauce. I wasn't a huge fan of this dish because it wasn't as crispy as I would have like it to be, but my husband devoured this up. The service is impressive and the food is delicious. Went here for lunch yesterday. Not bad at all. We had the appetizer spring rolls, which was ok. For lunch, I had the Gra Krow Kai Dow (minced chicken with long beans and a fried egg. It was very good and the level of spicyness was great! We also had an order of Shrimp Pad Thai, which was ok...I've had better. The Thai Iced tea was good too! The Foods are delicious, I been to Thailand before and honesty foods here taste way better. I love how small and friendly the staff are, if you come on by make sure you try either their Thai tea or Thai coffee. It's just around the corner of my workplace, just the perfect location. ehh... I am NOT impress with their food. My husband and I ordered the Roti for an appetizer $6.00! they give you these 4 "TINY" slices of Roti with a side of curry sauce. He ordered some grilled pork. Gave him two small fatty slices of grilled pork that took them 30min to make. The cashew chicken was little pieces of sliced chicken with more veges than the chicken. I've only eaten here twice, but am already a fan. I've tried two of their spicy lunch options and have enjoyed them both. I haven't dined in yet, but they are quick with their take out orders. The pricing is pretty decent for their lunch menu. The only negative has been the parking. The area it's located in always has terrible parking so take your time and try not to get frustrated when parking. I'll continue to eat here until I have a bad experience-let's hope that I don't! Long work days and long work hours are what I have to put up with, leaving very little time to grab a delicious bite to eat. I went in to Tin for take out with 20 min for a lunch time and they knew my time constraint and threw in the front of the line and I was out of there in 8 minutes flat. I am not a person who likes to give a bad review/rating. But the service that we got here was way TOO terrible. The lady at the counter was not friendly at all, the other young lady who served the food was also very rude. The way they served is enough to ruin our first impression of this place., The food is actually not that bad, our kiddos like the fried rice. Its quite tasty. The pad thai is a bit like rubberized noodles, probably undercooked, but other than that the rests are acceptable. Even so, we won't come back to this place. Reminded me of potato samosas. * Drunken Noodle Chicken = super spicy! This is the best Thai food in the Tri-Valley area. The Gra Prow Ka Dow is amazing and the prices are good. Dining in can sometimes be tricky because they get busy at lunch and the tables are close together so private conversations aren't possible. If you get your food to go make sure you call ahead because the waiting area by the front door is not the best place to hang out and wait for your order but definitely worth it. read more

It's less than a mile from our house, perfect for takeout. I've had Gai Prig Khing and Spicy Basil Beef. Both were great. Be aware that the menu description of hot food is accurate. I happen to like it so it's not a problem for me. My wife loves the Shrimp Pad Thai. I've sampled it and love the shrimp--fresh tasting and properly cooked--and the sauce which isn't overly sweet. In all the dishes we've had the veggies were perfectly done, not overcooked. The beef in the Spicy Basil Beef was tender, not easy to do with the chuck or similar cut in the dish. Like most Thai food it's not cheap. Takeout dinner for 2 was around $30. You can spend almost that much on a pizza so I can't complain, especially because of the quality. read more

Tin Thai is one of my favorite places in Livermore. It's not even close. I order take out about 75% of the time, the rest is usually dining in on a Friday at lunch. I'm not positive, but I believe the take-out portions are smaller. This isn't really a problem for me, but they do charge you the same price so I can understand how some would be bothered. The staff is always friendly and smiling, but there needs to be more of them. Lately dining in has been an exercise in patience. Tin Thai has gotten great reviews outside of Livermore, which has caused more and more people to flock to the tiny restaurant behind a 7-11. A few days ago, it took my table of three more than an hour to complete lunch. That's unacceptable for a place catering mostly to people on their lunch break. Ordering take-out remains speedy ... they can have it ready in ~10 minutes. Please hire more staff... The food. The food. The food. I love heat, so I usually go for the Gra Prow Kai Dow. Great flavors, nice kick, and the fried egg ties everything together nicely. I really should try something else! Their appetizers are all nicely sized for the price and are perfect if you want to share with the table. Overall, Tin Thai is a nice little restaurant with good food and friendly staff ... I will say this; the only thing that prevents this place from being 5 stars is the service. Food comes out slow, and sometimes it feels like there should be more servers than there are. The food here however, is great. It is affordable, has good variety, and is pretty tasty. There are little details here and there that one may like dislike, but overall this place is really good. The Pad Kro Pow is excellent, though there needs to be a balance between mild (not spicy at all) and medium (death by spice). The pad thai is excellent, though I wish they used fresh tofu, and the skirt steak is amazing with sticky rice. Definitely stop by if you're in the area, but keep in mind it is a bit out of the way, and hidden from the road (if you see Subway you're in the right place). read more

Very pleasant surprise! I'm not from the area but this place came recommended and I loved it. The decor and music differ from your typical Thai place and it is stylish. I enjoyed the blues music they played, clean bathroom and the food....LOVED IT. Their menu differs from other Thai places in that it has the standard Thai staples but added to it are some delicacies that I haven't had or seen in any other Thai places. Try the fried Daikon cake starter. I had the 'drunken noodles' or pad kee mao with tofu and it was bursting with flavor. Service is great, place is clean, but the quality of food vs. the price you pay doesn't add up. For the same price I can get the organic version in San Francisco. Very unique Thai restaurant think Cowboy meets Thai. The decor could easily be a BBQ joint, but the food is 100% great. The Thai iced tea was served in a mason jar. . . . All the food was very tasty. While the dishes were for the most part, traditional , they were much better than most Thai places. Most Thai places dumb the dishes for the American tastes, but not this place. You could really taste all the ingredients separately and together. The chicken in the Pad Thai was still juicy. They are not afraid to spice it up and really use the flavors of Thailand. If I would make any suggestions I would add things like Mee Krob, Tom Yung Kai, Crying Tiger salad, Angel wings, sticky rice and custard. read more
