We were returning home from SoCal and decided we wanted to pick up some Thai food on the way back. Decided to try somewhere new and "Yelped" a location off the freeway. Huge mistake! We ordered our usual: Shrimp Pad Thai, yellow curry with brown rice and grilled pork with rice. Upon arriving home, we discovered our take out was not only leaking, but the portions were tiny! And at about $47 for 3 dishes, it wasn't exactly cheap. As for the taste, the pad Thai was flavorful (although they used a very firm Chinese tofu instead of the usual spongy tofu), and the meat dish was very tender but small. Biggest disappointment was the curry as there was very little soup (not enough liquid to saturate any of the rice); mostly potatoes and veggies. I hope you hear the heavy sigh as I'm writing this review. Sadly, really wanted to enjoy this place as it's close to work. However, several factors incited this very generous 2-star review: 1. Customer service: I called in an order for a shrimp pad Thai. I asked for jalapeños on the side. The lady taking my order tsked when I asked but said, "yeah okay" at my request. After she repeated my order to me, I was in the process of asking her if I could have them remove the peanuts (literally four words into my request) when she hung up. Flabbergasted by this lack of patience. Skipping to picking up the order, there was no jalapeños packed but plenty of peanuts. Crying in peanuts 2. Food: I'll break this up in two categories - A) taste and B) amount. A) Taste: I was three bites into my shrimp pad thai when I realized something was missing: flavor. It tasted *nearly* like nothing. Maybe a slight aftertaste of egg. But there wasn't that usual sweet and salty flavor you'd get. Rosniyom is a very solid alternative. Go there. B) Amount: I like to count my shrimps when I order shrimp anything. Guess how many were in this order? Remember when I said in #1 I only got in FOUR words before I was hung up on? I GOT LESS SHRIMPS THAN I GOT WORDS IN. How dare I dream that an order of SHRIMP pad thai have more than THREE (3) shrimps. Maybe if they were prawns that'd be okay? But like...maybe just call it 3 Shrimps Pad Thai so no one else gets sad (still crying in peanuts). I had to cut each shrimp in half so I'd have some shrimp in each bite. Here are some of the few things I have experienced: -Drunken noodles have no basil but owner says it's finely minced mixed within the dish (lie) -This is what really prompted me to write this post an order of Spring Rolls that cost $7 for 3 piece looking lumpia (they didn't even bring me a proper dipping sauce but the ones you get from to go) !!! -I called it Service charge (but owner calls it tip) incorporated in the bill without informing the customer?! -Portions are tiny like...kid portions...you pay for $13 where you'll literally finish within 5 bites I really like the food in the past, but every time I come back, I can't help but notice all the 'adjustment'. It's unassuming as it is in a small strip mall near a lot of business parks. But the food is worth your effort to go! Tried them twice during this Co-vid 19 time and it just involves calling in your order and telling them the time you will pick it up. They have everything bagged and ready to go. We have enjoyed their kow soy immensely (hard to find this dish in many restaurants) and their curries are excellent as well. The worst customer service. My husband I were with our toddler on our way from San Francisco airport. We were starving and decided to have Tin Thai as my husband like this place. But unfortunately it all changed today due to the poor customer service by the lady ( seems like she's the owner also) When we entered at ~3:50pm the sign said take out orders only till 4pm. First we thought we'll order now and when food will be ready by 4pm, will sit out and eat.. We were denied. We needed some energy to wait, so decided to order Thai Tea to go. We were denied. Than we had to explain we are taking Thai Tea TO GO, after some back n forth she gave us Thai tea. And literally kicked us out and locked the door. This should have been the sign to not come back here. My toddler has food allergies and therefore we are limited with option. We need the food to be dairy free and gluten free. Thai food has some options that cater my toddlers needs: sticky rice and bland boiled rice noodles. My husband is also sensitive to dairy. So we ended up ordering eggplant tofu, pad Thai chicken, sticky rice and boiled noodles on side with fried egg. Eggplant Tofu was really good. However pad Thai smelled super bad, like the poultry used is expired. We have been to this place previously, so we know what pad Thai is all about. But the owner came with attitude, didn't try to listen what we are saying. They almost yelled at us for calling out their Pad Thai bad. Became super argumentative. My husband tried to explain that he's been here before and before he could finish, she said " you are lying, you have never been here before and yelled " I will have to throw pad Thai away" Chef came out from the other side and gave us an angry glare. On top we were lectured about they have been in business since 2011 and know what they are serving. We didn't wanna eat there anymore. We really wanted to pull out our statements to show how many times we have been to their place. To run a restaurant with good food you also need some good customer service. We did not tip. On top we were further lectured about not tipping the server. Mind you, I had asked a water cup with lid for my toddler and we never received one. If the owner is so worried about server's paycheck, the owner should pay the server well and not try to get tip out from customers when cannot even talk politely. Im a big tipper, I have given $25+ tips at restaurants, but it all comes down to food, ambience and most importantly CUSTOMER SERVICE! The lady owner turned on her phone with recording as if we have done something wrong and wants to report us. And literally walked out behind us saying: Don't Come Back here". I'm adding another star because we have become big fans of the spicy Drunken Noodle Chicken and the lunch favorite Gra Prow Kai Dow (basil stir fried minced chicken (or beef) over rice with fried egg). Revisiting in Livermore and looked up Thai restrauants and came here to try their food. Small place limited seating. Most of the customers that came on were picking up take out. I thought the spice level was good and not excessively hot. Might be for kids or those who've not experienced Thai food before. The taste and texture was good and we'll be back. On the negative side: at here was an 18% Service fee for eat-in dining and a can of Coke was $3. My Husband and I have been here twice now and to be completely honest didn't leave much of an impression either time that I have a great deal to say about the place. The food is ok, the service I recall was good and overall we both came to the conclusion that it was ''fine'', a little disappointing but not bad.
