I have been looking for a good Chinese restaurant ever since China Villa closed down. Unfortunately, this spot was disappointing. My parents picked up food for lunch: fried rice, family style bean curd, Mongolian beef, and sweet and sour chicken. Usually, the Mongolian beef is spicy, but this Mongolian beef was not spicy at all. However, the family style bean curd was very spicy. I think the cook messed up the spicy level of these two dishes so the flavor profile was completely off. The other two dishes were just fine. Considering my parents ordered take out, no utensils or napkins were provided in the bag. They did at least give some fortune cookies, but that's about it. Honestly, if you are going to charge a decent amount for Chinese food, I expect it to be worth it. read more

The food here was great. We ordered the sweet and sour pork, beef and pork fried rice, chow mein, and orange chicken. They give you complimentary tea before ordering, which is quality. The service is polite, accurate, and extremely fast. I cannot stress how fast they are at giving your order. The ambiance is an elegant Chinese restaurant that has multiple style tables and booths for whatever amount of party of guests. The food was not as good as it used to be we had ordered the dinner for 2 which was $28.50 per person it can with over cooked spring rolls that were over stuffed with hard cabbage the won ton was dark brown very unappealing the soup had so much cabbage that was also hard so the soup was wasted then our main dishes came out and they were sub par as well The waitress was preoccupied with her ear buds in and brought food out as a zombie as she was talking I thought she might have been taking to me but had her own conversation going on through her ear buds very unappealing professional I know costs all over the place but restaurants need to make that u in service and atmosphere which was not here All in all we will check this off on our where to go tonight for dinner list Oh by the way sadly this list is getting shorter every adventure read more

We loved China village in Dublin and were incredibly excited to find out that they had a sister location in Livermore. Sadly, it's just not the same. We got our usual hong kong style combo chow mein but it lacked enough seafood and the flavor. The Peking style pork was just ok. The service was very poor -- there were three of us, and we were initially served three soups but only given two glasses of water. I ate at this place twice, once as a lunch special, and once for a la carte. I used their online service for ordering food and when I was either on my lunch break or heading home, my food was ready when I got there. I ordered about 10 minutes prior to leaving, so it worked out perfectly. The staff had masks on. But I rarely interacted since I just picked up my food and left. For the lunch entree, it was alright at best. The fried rice they offered was very bare and just had egg and rice. The fried wonton didn't come with sweet and sour sauce, so I was a little sad. The garlic chicken was just ok. It didn't have much flavor behind it. Would I order it again, probably not. The BBQ pork fried rice was pretty good. It is what fried rice should be. I have no issues with this dish. The Mongolian Chicken was also pretty good. It wasn't too spicy, but had enough. I love onions, so I had no issue with there being a surplus of it. Presentation wise, I don't want to see a bed of the fried noodle strings when I open the box. But at least I enjoyed it once I actually got to the food. Overall, an alright place. I can see that they are hurting due to Covid, so I'm happy to send business my way if I can. read more

Years later, I still get China Pavilion cravings quite often. Service is super fast. If I call to place an order, it is usually ready in about 10 minutes. My favorite three items I order: chow fun si (pork or beef), beef chow fun, and the eggplant dish. The chow fun si is the glass noodles used in Korean japchae, except I personally like the way the chow fun si here is cooked more. The man at the front counter is very nice. In all my years coming here, I have never been disappointed with my orders. Glad to see when I dropped in that business seems to be booming. I never knew they had a sister location in Dublin--I am learning now for the first time from reviews on here that it has closed. This is one of our go to places for lunch at work. Restaurant is conveniently located off of 580 on Vasco and is within a couple miles of work. Place looks like it's been there forever and is part of the community with plenty of regulars. You have the male serving room staff in uniform with booths and round tables with lazy Susan's. Service is quick, efficient and orders are always correct which is a BIG plus! Food is predictably good, not amazingly great and never bad. You get plenty too, if I'm really hungry I can finish my lunch but usually I have enough for leftovers. Since I've only been here for lunch, this review is based only on lunch platters. We usually get a special order of honey walnut prawns, substitute walnuts for cashews and add broccoli with brown rice. Lunch includes soup, salad and a fried wonton. The batter is the right amount, crunchy and not doughy. Price is good too, most lunches are about $12. read more

We will NEVER eat here again!!! We ordered 3 dishes for pick up that came out to $60.00 and when we got home to eat, we found a disgusting LARVA PARASITE in the food!!! We were all sick to our stomachs, threw out the food and didn't eat that night. That means they are NOT washing produce and NOT cleaning their kitchen!!!!!!!! After being a regular customer for literally YEARS (15 or more years); and LOYAL customers by ordering pick up from China pavilion regularly throughout COVID this is how long term customers are treated. I called to let them know that we had in larva/parasite in our food and they gave me the run around telling me to call back the next day to speak to David who took our order. Never apologized, never offered anything, but instead was annoyed that I was inconveniencing them and out of pocket for asking for a refund. I was never able to talk to David and never got a refund after having disgusting parasites in the food!!! Ever go out to lunch with your spouse's coworkers? First time for me also. The wife made arrangements for us to meet a group of her former co-workers for lunch in Livermore at the China Pavilion Restaurant. I remember when I first went out to lunch with my wife after my retirement with my former coworkers, with the women co-workers more interested in meeting my wife than me. Guess they wanted to know what type of woman was desperate enough to marry me! The restaurant is located in a huge strip mall, recently built like everything else in Livermore. Wife parks the car 100 yards away next to the nearest trees for shade in the hot summer sun, to protect our perishables in our ice cooler. Restaurant is spacious and clean, with a new carpet, and new but unpretentious furnishings. Decent décor but with little on the walls -recently opened restaurant? Waiting area next to the front door -probably for the numerous take-out. Asian restaurant restrooms don't have the best of reputations. Another reason not to use the restroom, but I make an exception here, as we have another 90 minutes of driving afterwards. Restrooms are clean for any restaurant, let alone a Chinese restaurant! Three older white women, one recently retired, and one young Asian man show up one year after my wife's retirement, 5 minutes late, but right on government time. They greet the wife with hugs and smiles, and me with handshakes as an after thought. Everyone orders from the list of 32 luncheon specials, priced between $8.50 and $9.50 apiece. Service is good. The hot and sour soup comes with the luncheon specials. Lots of tofu, bamboo shoots, but little or no pork. Not too vinegary, but not spicy either. My $9 Mongolian beef dish comes with quality beef that you can cut with a fork, along with lots of green onions, rice , an orange slice, and a fried won ton skin. Presentation is good. Not at all spicy, just right for white folks, the predominate race in this area. The wife's $9.50 Kung Pao Prawns, come with at least 8 small prawns, green peppers, bamboo shoots, peanuts, and white onions in a more sweet than spicy sauce. She gives me some of the white onions, which I prefer crunchy rather than too cooked. Bland sauce, not a dish I would order. The others order Szechwan chicken and the young Asian man gets Oyster sauce beef, which he likes. The wife, myself and the Asian guy are the only ones who finish their plates. Remind me not to order any of the chicken dishes. Waiters quick to leave the check and pick up the $62 in cash for 6 people, but we talk after the meal, as there are plenty of empty tables on this Friday lunch afternoon. The wife and coworkers talk about which people have left in the past year, and who has taken over the wife's duties. When I left, there was a line of co-workers waiting to claim everything in my office that wasn't nailed down. Same with the wife. Never did find out what happened to the wife's workplace goggles. Those are prescription googles, so if someone in goggles is walking into walls, you'll know that's the one! We get out of there in an hour, but it takes us a good 2 hours to drive the remaining 70 miles, as it is get away Friday with traffic crawling at 1240pm towards Sacramento. Would not want to do the Sacramento to Livermore commute, even if I ate at China Pavilion for lunch every day! read more

Been wanting to try this place but get turned off with one staff member kinda rude. Every time I think about going I end up not like hmm myst be for a reason. So my husband came home last night and took me there. Definitely not like any Chinese food I've ever had and was pretty disappointed. Wor wonton soup had no pork, microscopic bits of chicken, and the wonton were super tiny and flavorless. Cashew chicken crap load of onions, bell peppers, and was just ok. Chow fun woth gravy noodles were really white, and the salt and pepper pork chop were breaded and deep fried? I'm used to them being actual chops with bone and lots of salt, pepper, garlic so had to ask for sauce and itcwas just terrible. Cook can't cook or just lazy idk. Almost seemed like they were taking easy route and just didn't care. And for the prices beyond disappointing. I will drive all the way to san mateo and foster city for some good Chinese food. I go every now and then because the food is good but customer service is not good. My observation while eating is certain groups of people get high quality and warm customer service. They get conversations rounds of "are you ok". I'm African American. I always pay attention to make sure that I'm being treated the same. I get dry and one word answers.
