I always get the hibachi so that's all my review is based off of. I have gotten the shrimp, chicken, steak, and various variations of them and all pretty good hibachi. You can choose from white rice, noodles, fried rice, different proteins, & an assortment of veggies. Comes with a delicious yum yum/shrimp sauce. Only thing I need with it is spice! I've tried the veggie hibachi(broccoli, mushrooms, onions, and zucchini, the salmon hibachi which comes with rice, noodles, carrots, or egg roll. Great coupon online if you want a combination of things. Hibachi can be a hit or miss. Recently, I order steak (medium cook) and chicken with a spring roll, onion, mushroom, sweet carrots, white rice -"also with fried gyoza. There was so much liquid in my takeout bag which thank god didn't spill out! My plate also had a lot of water still. I only enjoyed the gyoza and the spring roll. The steak was cooked well done instead. Chicken disintegrated and tasted odd like maybe it was cooked before ordering. Bland. I wish I had only veggies because I ate around the meat. Discovered this tucked away gem while craving hibachi one night. I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of food options provided with the hibachi dinners. You're able to choose from 4 sides and as you can see, they are not stingy. Their online ordering is easy and the food was ready once I arrived. We also ordered crab Rangoon which were tasty. Walked into a line in at the register blocking the entrance way. Stood there for about 6 minutes before reaching the front of the register just to let them know where waiting to be seated. Once we got seated it took around another 5 minutes to get a drink. The waitress took our orders without writing them down, then continued to confirm our order as she brought out our drinks and appetizers. Would have been easier if she would have written it down. Sushi was wonderful, and the volcano salad was probably my favorite. I ordered the stir fry shrimp udon noodle. Large portion for the whole family. I love the specials at Tin Tin. They have BOGO sushi and a hibachi chicken/shrimp meal that comes with rice and 2 sides. They're perfect for when you're not too sure what you want so you just choose both! I've been here multiple times but on my last visit I ordered the spicy tuna roll, shiki roll which has shrimp tempura inside, and the hibachi shrimp with rice, sweet carrots & zucchini all for $20! So flavorful and fresh. 2nd thing I ordered was the Hawaiian Roll. It was good, but the torched Escolar tasted very fishy, so it came across as "not fresh". I'm sure it was, and I can't say I've had escolar, so probably my bad. But...the rest was tasty so I feel like I just made a bad pick for my taste and I will try another choice. I was unimpressed with our service tonight. It took us 5-10 minutes before even asking what we'd like to drink. I understand if the server is busy but the host could have at least helped her out and gotten our drinks while she was in the weeds. Instead no one offered anything. By the time they came to our table we were ready to order but she needed more time to attend her other tables. She was hardly at our table and I needed to ask another server for help and he didn't seem like he wanted to help us much either. At this point I was just annoyed and ready to get our food. We visited this mockery of a store tonight. We have been before. Recently they started lowering their portions. OK. I called once and was told that many customers had made the same complaint and that I should just check my food before I leave so that they could address. But no problems since. BUT tonight, I did notice the smaller portion. I inquired and this male, asian man (so you know which one he is)loud talked me, pointing his finger and sounding like a crazy person (he was the manager). This is a really difficult review to write. We have been customers at Tin Tin since the day they opened. It has been our favorite sushi dive since that first visit. We'd visit regularly and got to know the servers well. We used to live nearby but almost 4 years ago moved nearly 30 minutes away. We maintained our loyalty post Covid when they reopened as takeout only. Despite having sushi locally, we still have always chosen to make the drive for Tin Tin takeout, with the food still fresh after the 30 min drive back home. Our kids have always loved the hibachi special while we gorge on abundant sushi. We've always raved about TinTin to everyone, giving high recommendation. That all being said, we ordered takeout tonight. What a disappointment. Things have changed dramatically. What was once amazing and abundant dive bar sushi has turned in to fast-food minimal quality and quantity sushi at best. The "deep fried" sushi rolls were barely breaded, 1/2 the size they used to be, and 80% rice with a peek of actual filling, and because deep fried with little to no batter, were also miserably chewy. The other rolls 1/2 of what they used to be. Even the hibachi special has lowered quality with chewy chicken and mushy broccoli. There used to be so much noodle in the container it would barely close; kid heaven for this house. Now, however? We could literally count the number of noodles on our hands. . All the staff seen were completely different than previous visits; didn't see one regular, familiar face. Is there a different sushi chef? New management? What gives, TinTin???? This is the last time we order takeout from here of our usual 6 specialty rolls, hibachi dinners and other additional sides until there is some sort of redemption post that things are back the way they used to be. They weren't very busy, but its an interesting location and I was a little later than the average lunch time. FYI, there is another similar spot .5 mile away. But this place has much nicer decor. They tried and the food wasn't bad. It wasn't super awesome that the lady behind the register was talking on a cell phone and not really paying me attention when I tried to order, but hey, I was on hold on a cell phone as well. I guess its just the way we live these days. The Hibachi combo for less than $5 gets 4-5 stars for value. That's the only reason I gave them a chance instead of Bojangles though. Rice, a veggie and a spring roll. A great deal. The chicken was kind of pale and didnt' have a good sear to it, but still tasted fine and had decent texture. It is what it is. I ordered from doordash, and unfortunately I could tell that the sushi had been sitting out for more than just an hour or so. The shrimp roll smelled off & the rice around the shrimp was tinted yellow. I also ordered the steak dinner rare, but i received pieces of steak that were not cooked at all with large chunks of raw fat attached to it. I am totally down for a cool rare steak, but there were multiple pieces that were entirely raw with absolutely no evidence of it touching the grill at all. read more

Great new restaurant in the University area. The sushi is very good, and the ramen is quite good as well. One of the best in Charlotte - and pretty much the only decent ramen in the University area. I've been there a few times as well as ordered sushi takeout. The sushi has been good each time. I've only ordered the ramen once, but it was quite good. The noodles won't hold up to takeout though so if you're ordering it to go I'd suggest substituting with a sturdier noodle when you order. The exterior of the restaurant itself is in an unassuming strip center, but the inside is very nice so don't be fooled. The service is friendly, though the sushi can take a little time when you order it, but always worth the wait. They have wifi available through TWC so if you are already a TWC user you can easily get online. They really have an interesting menu, but I've found it hard to tear myself away from the sushi long enough to try many other items. So far my favorites are both the Spider Roll and Spider Man Roll as well as the Crazy Hot Roll. I can't wait to sample my way though other options. There are a variety of hibachi and noodle dishes as well as some Chinese and others. read more
