Shrimp and veggies in brown sauce

Exactly what I envisioned for my shrimp and mixed veggies. Shrimp are legit in size and flavor is there! My shrimp egg roll was yummo too. Will be going back !

After 5 years of searching, I finally found my go-to Chinese spot! Initially I was taken back by the low reviews but realized the one thing I like to eat was rated highly. Tonight I ordered boneless spare ribs combo with steam rice and crab Rangoon. To my surprise, an egg roll was included too (not sure if this is a norm or accident, either way I'm happy). The spare rib was plentiful and cooked well. The crab Rangoon was also delicious! I was stuffed by the time I got to the egg roll but the one bite, was also very tasty. I definitely recommend this place!

    Orange Chicken

I ordered to-go. I ordered 2 egg rolls, a small wonton soup, a pan fried dumpling, and the orange chicken with chicken lo mein instead of fried rice. The egg roll was average and crispy in the outside. It didn't taste greasy, which is always a good thing. The wonton soup had very little flavor and was suspiciously yellow like food dye had been added. The pan fried dumplings were fantastic! The included sauce had a hint of spice. The dumplings were a perfect consistency; they were clearly fried and the perfect balance of chew and not being soggy like most dumplings are. The dumplings were the highlight of the meal! The orange chicken was very sweet. The breaded chicken were large chunks and I didn't care for how large they were. I didn't like the broccoli garnish because it was raw. The lo mein was also great. I wasn't expecting large portion sizes and my spouse and I had enough for leftovers the next day. I will return again and try a different main dish and skip the wonton soup.

Horrible! I ordered mongolian beef, which came with fried rice. Also had the lemon pepper wings. I had a few pieces of beef in this container of full of onions and chestnuts. My rice was bland with none of the things that should be in "fried rice" (egg, veggies, etc). Looked nothing like the rice in customers photos! The wings had a sprinkle of lemon pepper and soaked in butter! Never again....

Veggie Mu shu and steamed dumplings

Typically I'm discouraged by places with 3 stars or less; however, my dude previously ordered the boneless spare ribs and fried rice and really liked it. So when he had a taste for Chinese food for dinner, I decided to go along. And I'm. Glad. I. Did. Rather than order my usual shrimp egg foo young, I decided to go with an oldie but a goodie; veggie mu shu. Ugh! So good. The flavor was really on point. I loved the snow peas and broccoli. Next time I'll get it without the big mushrooms. Not a huge fan of fungus, but I can tolerate the slivers that typically comes with this dish. I don't use the "pancakes" or the sauce that comes with it to make little wraps. I wouldn't be surprised if it's good but just never been a fan of building my Chinese food. It's enough food for two meals though, if you aren't greedy... or extremely famished. Now the steamed dumplings... the flavor is really good and the sauce that accompanies it is as well; however I had to deduct one star because the dough is EXTREMELY thick. It's not the thin, slippery texture and consistency I'm used to. If they could perfect the dough (unless it was an off day) I'd get them again. Definitely going back for take out.

Boneless Spare Ribs, Chicken with Mixed Vegetables and Lo Mein Special.

Delivery was fast, ordered at 12:45pm, food at the door at 1:05 pm. Food was fresh and super hot! Bag was literally steaming! I love it. The Lomein was perfectly cooked, chicken with mixed veggies is delicious, and the boneless spareribs was good too. Egg rolls that came with meals were soo yummy! They put extra sauces in my bag which was nice. Some places don't even care to give out sauces unless you asked for it. But overall. I'm pretty satisfied. Thanks The Golden coast II ! Will definitely order from here again.

GOT TOE MIGHTY!! I'm not sure why people eat here. But I can tell you the reason why I did. Because I was starving. If you're not picky about how your meat taste or how fatty it is, then this is the place for you. My meal had chicken and beef in it. That was the most disgusting crap I've ever eaten. The beef was chewy. It had been the lowest grade of meet I've ever eaten. I was going to get the beef ribs but that was the reason I didn't get them was because they may be too fatty or too chewy. I guess this is why I always eat vegetables when I eat at Chinese restaurants because their meat sucks. So please, don't be spontaneous and try this place you'll be pis-ssed and waste your money.

STAPLE found cooked in my Sweet and Sour chicken.

Ordered their Sweet and Sour Chicken, had a STAPLE in my food. When I called to complain, they brushed it off like it was nothing and said, "So?" I will NEVER go back.

I actually loved the bright, comfy vibe of the place. Thought it could use a bit louder music to fill the space. I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles, Rainbow Dumplings and this Mango Jasmine Tea drink...and they were all pretty good. Still, I was surprised how my bill totaled about 35 bucks. Normally, I'm not too surprised by the pricing (even for lunch), but it felt a bit high...given that everything was served on paper and plastic wares. I did like how they have these DIY take-home plastic wares accessible and ready to go...so some points for that! Overall, it's just a casual eatery...not a full scale restaurant. I prefer full scale service, complete with nicely plated presentations, but this type of DIY eatery is just something that's becoming more common.

It was pushing 97 degrees outside, and after a long afternoon of computer work and errands, I finally stopped in for the crispy scallion chicken and pan-fried dumplings. Huge portions. Fair prices. Friendly people. Consistently solid food every single time. The best part today honestly might have been the air conditioning. They've got a cool, comfortable space to wait while your order is prepared, which felt amazing after baking outside all day. I forgot to take food photos because I was hungry and ready to get home, but trust me, they pack these takeout containers like a game of Jenga. Nothing spills. Nothing shifts. Everything is packed tight and thoughtfully. Only tiny downside: the dumpling sauce goes into the same container as the hot dumplings, so by the time I got home, it had softened the bottom a bit. Still, the dumpling wrappers are thick and crispy enough to survive the trip. Into the air fryer later they go. One warning: the parking lot can be chaotic since it sits right off busy Providence Road. Just be patient. Cars are constantly pulling in, backing out, blocking entrances, and today people were absolutely treating red lights like suggestions. Saw it multiple times, including a bus cutting across traffic when I had the right-of-way. Charlotte drivers... please relax a little. That said, the food made the trip worth it. Taipei Express is one of those dependable local spots that always comes through when you need a solid meal without spending a fortune. Life is too short to not eat well. Get out there and eat your way through Charlotte.

Unfortunately, the actual experience was nothing like the hype. First, parking is a nightmare. I would seriously add an extra 20-30 minutes just to find a spot. Once we finally made it inside, we waited another 30 minutes to be seated. After sitting down, it took close to another 30 minutes before anyone came to take our order, and then roughly another 30 minutes for the food to arrive. So you're potentially looking at well over an hour and a half of waiting and inconvenience before you really get to eat. And the dim sum cart that brought us there in the first place? We never saw one. They did have a dim sum menu that we could order from, but that was not the experience being promoted in the videos we had seen. The food itself was just okay. Nothing was terrible, but nothing justified the hype or the amount of time and hassle involved. If you've had good dim sum in places like New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, or San Francisco, this isn't remotely in the same league. Between the parking, the long waits, slow service, missing dim sum cart, and average food, I genuinely don't understand the crowds. Hard pass for us. Once and done.

It is busy enough that plenty of other people had also called in for takeout. The price was higher than I thought it would be by a significant margin; I thought something was off but then rechecking their menu I saw it was indeed $20 for a vegetable entree. On the upside, they did offer brown rice at no extra charge. Still, I'll get three meals out of it and as someone who eats a lot of takeout, this was not a great value. In terms of quality, I was thrilled to find that they offered a stir-fried okra dish. This is a ubiquitous Indian dish, and of course okra is common throughout the tropics globally, but I'd never seen this offered at a Chinese restaurant before. And the rapid cooking technique typical of the cuisine produced a delightfully crisp vegetable, which went great with a black bean sauce and some very hot dried chilis. On the other hand, their interpretation of ma po tofu had some fermented broad beans but minimal vegetables (sometimes you get mushrooms or peas or at least some leeks or something) and no numbing sensation. They had a bean curd roll dish that I enjoyed, and some quality dumplings. Overall, not huge portions and a mix of okay to great quality.
