I'm very happy with my experience at this location. I sent out an inquiry on Yelp and heard back from Monique right away. Her communication was very consistent and responsive so I felt like this was a good fit. I got my wedding dress altered, nothing crazy but Monique did a wonderful job and I'm very happy with how it turned out. She also gave me some tips on how to walk in my dress. 20+ years ago, I bought a hooded corduroy jacket that I absolutely love. It's vintage at this point - they just don't make them like this anymore. Due to time and wear, a substantial hole developed in the chest area of the jacket. Initially I brought the jacket to a dry cleaner closer to my home. The nice person who worked there said it would be too costly to patch up, wouldn't look very good afterwards, and recommended I shop for a replacement. I was not ready to say goodbye to the jacket and wanted a second opinion. After reading Aki's Cleaners' positive Yelp reviews, I decided to drop in. Monique recommended that I find material that I like, and her team could patch over both sides of the chest area for a stylish appearance. I let her know that appearance wasn't as important to me as function. She was confident that her team could do a decent job given that information. When I went to pick up the jacket, Monique proudly brought it out to me noting that they found similar material and stitched it over the problem area. Monique paid incredibly close attention to the fit and length, and even sewed a corset into the dress so that it fit me perfectly. One dress was a simple waist adjustment and the other was a bit more involved as it had 3-tiered ruffles and I wanted the overall dress length to be shorter. When I came to Monique to inquire about whether she could do the alterations that I was requesting, I was worried that the more-complicated dress couldn't be done, not without a huge cost. She sounded confident that she could alter it and gave me a very reasonable price. To my surprise, the final cost to alter both dresses ended up being cheaper than what she initially quoted me for! I came to Aki's Cleaner to have my wedding dress altered and couldn't have been more pleased with the entire process. I texted Monique after reading some reviews and told her what I was hoping to achieve and she told me it was a typical ask and gave me a reasonable quote - prior to this I had consultations with two other places and one couldn't alter the dress how I wanted, and the other charged a veryyy steep amount. After discussing my dress with Monique and getting it pinned, I came back to try it on. My main concern was that my strapless dress kept falling down but it now felt secure. AKI'S RUINS $800 JACKET I brought my jacket in for a simple dry clean and alteration to hem the sleeves since they were a little long. Given that the jacket has no special cuff or finish I thought this was a simple job. I was completely wrong. I went to pick up the jacket and the proportion of the sleeve was completely off. It no longer sit correctly and the shape of the jacket was not like how it was when I first picked it up. I asked her what was wrong with the sleeve and she said that the dry clean had shrunk the jacket. Huh??? How is that possible when the rest of the jacket is fine and don't you dry clean your clothes so they don't get shrink?! She had offered to fix the jacket by fixing the shoulder but that would not have fixed it. Monique came off as incompetent and did not know what alteration was even done. Why does Monique charge before you pick up the items? If I knew my jacket was going to be ruined I would not have given her a dime. She refunded me for the alteration but the $800 jacket is now ruined. Save your time, money, and expensive clothes and take your alterations somewhere else. read more
