I'm very happy with my experience at this location. I sent out an inquiry on Yelp and heard back from Monique right away. Her communication was very consistent and responsive so I felt like this was a good fit. I got my wedding dress altered, nothing crazy but Monique did a wonderful job and I'm very happy with how it turned out. She also gave me some tips on how to walk in my dress. The alterations took about less than two weeks, but I also didn't do anything crazy to my dress. Just a strap, hem and bust adjustments. My alterations were under $200. I definitely plan to come back and have my wedding dress cleaned and have Monique do any other alterations I might need in the future. read more

This is low quality work. I brought in my old t -shirt that had a hole in the armpit; just wanted to get it sewn back up. Seemed simple enough. When I picked up my shirt it was returned to me with the hole not sewn closed all the way; and extra fabric strings hanging. It looks sloppy and incomplete. This could've been done nicely for being something so simple, but it wasn't. I was charged $15 for this- which to me isn't cheap for the work provided because the hole will probably just need to be repaired again soon. I will not be coming here again, especially with an expensive item of clothing..... thankfully this was just an old t shirt. I didn't bother going back to mention this or get it re-done. Ruined my suit for Mom's Funeral!!!! WARNING: Read ALL reviews before considering who you do business with. When asked, it's my first time @ Aki's, didn't know her mother, and this needed to be ready for a family funeral. No time to mess around and nonsense. Marked mildew pants areas with their colored tape. No issues with suit coat, but was in same storage bag. Monique said no problem, gave ticket, and receipt. They text when ready. Picked up days later. Noticed bubbling all over coat breasts, around buttons, and cracked inner spare button beside care cleaning label. Only pants cleaned of mildew spots. Brought this back & pointed out to her. She said they would improve/redo press and replace button. She asked again if I knew her mother; No. I looked at her (very concerned) & reiterated that this suit was for my Mom's Funeral. No improvement when suit coat was ready for pickup; still bubbling on coat and damaged button untouched. Found a split seam later on. Monique nonchalantly said, "it looked better." I said, "No, bubbling still there!" She tried flattery-saying it's because "you're a perfectionist." That doesn't change the fact that my suit looked ruined. Button wasn't even replaced! She blamed the suit material & she said they weren't responsible. I've had many dry cleaning experiences with other dry cleaners, all without issues. Never had this bubbling before and had to look this up. De-lamination (?) is caused by excessive heat or the solvents. I pointed out the dry cleaning care label by the broken button. She gave no apologies and no compensation back before I left. My suit was now ruined--2 days before my mom's funeral!!! I had to be focused on that, her eulogy, my family, and alternative appropriate attire. I contacted my credit card company for help. The dry cleaning fee charge dispute is minimal compared to putting someone in a difficult time before a family funeral, a loss of a favorite suit, and several hundred dollars. Aki's Cleaners failed. The did NOT acknowledge the damage NOR any responsibility. Even tried to downplay it, deflected and blamed someone else. Very unprofessional. read more

I came to her a few months ago needing my wedding lehenga (Indian) top altered - it was heavily embroidered and beaded and I was very nervous about taking it to anyone to cut into/rework/stitch on. Monique took one look at it and new exactly what to do. It turned out perfect, and made my wedding look come together perfectly. More recently, I took two dresses to her to alter the neckline because they were just too plunging. Monique altered both of the v-necks in less than 2 day, and now they're perfect. I saw Monique super last minute for a bridesmaid dress. I was panicking because the zipper of the dress wasn't sitting right, and I had a flight out to the wedding later the same day. Monique calmed me down and was able to get the zipper to sit correctly just by adjusting the straps, no alterations needed. Seeing her really relieved all of my anxiety, and she is clearly very knowledgeable about clothes and fashion. I'm very happy with my experience with Monique for the alteration of my two dresses. She replied quickly on Yelp and is a very pleasant person to work with. One dress is a sleek wedding reception dress, which I thought only needs to be hemmed. But after I put it on she carefully examined the waist, the front, and the slip and offered really great suggestions. The finished dress looks better than I thought after those small details being fixed. The second dress is a light weight summer dress that only needs to be hemmed, and she did a good job of making the new edge a little flared out to complement the whole look. I've been going to Aki's for a little over a year and a half, and they consistently do phenomenal work. I've brought in many items for dry cleaning over time, and everything has always been returned looking fresh, clean, and carefully handled. Most recently, I trusted them with my wedding dress and wedding shoes -- which felt like a big deal. She did an incredible job. She was able to get all the dirt out of my dress and completely restore my white silk wedding shoes. I honestly didn't think the shoes would look that clean again, but the before-and-after difference is amazing. Beyond dry cleaning, she has also done multiple alterations for me, including repairing tears in delicate silk and re-hemming pants. 20+ years ago, I bought a hooded corduroy jacket that I absolutely love. It's vintage at this point - they just don't make them like this anymore. Due to time and wear, a substantial hole developed in the chest area of the jacket. Initially I brought the jacket to a dry cleaner closer to my home. The nice person who worked there said it would be too costly to patch up, wouldn't look very good afterwards, and recommended I shop for a replacement. I was not ready to say goodbye to the jacket and wanted a second opinion. After reading Aki's Cleaners' positive Yelp reviews, I decided to drop in. Monique recommended that I find material that I like, and her team could patch over both sides of the chest area for a stylish appearance. I let her know that appearance wasn't as important to me as function. She was confident that her team could do a decent job given that information. When I went to pick up the jacket, Monique proudly brought it out to me noting that they found similar material and stitched it over the problem area. I could not have come to a better place for my wedding dress alterations. Monique paid incredibly close attention to the fit and length, and even sewed a corset into the dress so that it fit me perfectly. I was so taken care of and she is a great communicator, letting me know how long it would take and texting me when it was ready. She also altered my other clothing for the wedding weekend and it all turned out perfectly. She is prompt, and the pricing is incredibly reasonable. I never felt like I was being taken advantage of because it was a wedding- she communicated throughout the pricing of each item and why it would cost what it did. I had reached out to some other shops before finding Monique and they either quoted me absurd prices or simply told me that the alteration was impossible or very difficult. One dress was a simple waist adjustment and the other was a bit more involved as it had 3-tiered ruffles and I wanted the overall dress length to be shorter. When I came to Monique to inquire about whether she could do the alterations that I was requesting, I was worried that the more-complicated dress couldn't be done, not without a huge cost. She sounded confident that she could alter it and gave me a very reasonable price. To my surprise, the final cost to alter both dresses ended up being cheaper than what she initially quoted me for! I trust that not only she knows what alterations are best, but will try to alter your clothes in the best way possible so that it saves you money. I'm so lucky I found her. I came to Aki's Cleaner to have my wedding dress altered and couldn't have been more pleased with the entire process. I texted Monique after reading some reviews and told her what I was hoping to achieve and she told me it was a typical ask and gave me a reasonable quote - prior to this I had consultations with two other places and one couldn't alter the dress how I wanted, and the other charged a veryyy steep amount. After discussing my dress with Monique and getting it pinned, I came back to try it on. My main concern was that my strapless dress kept falling down but it now felt secure. Monique created custom straps for me on the dress I wore for our rehearsal, and tailored the shirt my husband wore for our wedding - it looked great on him and he felt really good in it. Lucky anyone who lives within a mile of Aki's Cleaner or on the Muni 1 line, but, honestly, it's worth the drive/Lyft/Waymo to bring your dry cleaning to Monique at Aki. This is the real deal family business where you deal directly with Monique who is amazing, gifted, talented and fun (when is the last time you described your dry cleaner as "Fun?"). Or with her mom who is brilliant with a needle. Or with her husband who seems to keep everything going smoothly. Our dry cleaning always comes back to us in a timely fashion, beautifully cleaned. We had my daughter's bridal dress, my husband's suit, and my gown all altered before the wedding. AKI'S RUINS $800 JACKET I brought my jacket in for a simple dry clean and alteration to hem the sleeves since they were a little long. Given that the jacket has no special cuff or finish I thought this was a simple job. I was completely wrong. I went to pick up the jacket and the proportion of the sleeve was completely off. It no longer sit correctly and the shape of the jacket was not like how it was when I first picked it up. I asked her what was wrong with the sleeve and she said that the dry clean had shrunk the jacket. Huh??? How is that possible when the rest of the jacket is fine and don't you dry clean your clothes so they don't get shrink?! She had offered to fix the jacket by fixing the shoulder but that would not have fixed it. Monique came off as incompetent and did not know what alteration was even done. Why does Monique charge before you pick up the items? If I knew my jacket was going to be ruined I would not have given her a dime. She refunded me for the alteration but the $800 jacket is now ruined. Save your time, money, and expensive clothes and take your alterations somewhere else. read more

I was referred here by a friend of a friend. She and I were wearing the same bridesmaid dress in a summer wedding but Her's was looking way better than mine. I asked her and she said she had a seamstress that sewed the straps in place rather than tying them (this was a convertible dress). It was a noticeable difference between her dress and mine. When I was invited into another wedding this fall I contacted that friend of a friend. She recommended Aki's cleaners. Owner/Seamstress Monique was amazing. She spoke to me on the phone, told me to come in and she would fit me that day. I walked in and was fitted in less than 10 mins. She gave me recommendations for this and that, all appreciated. I came in on 9/29 and needed my dress by 10/4 at the very latest. I expected to beg her and pay for a rush. Instead, everything was regular priced and she said she needed 1-2 days. 2 days later I received a text to come and pick up the dress at my convenience. 10/10 highly recommend. read more
