When I walked in I was impressed with the different clothing the store had to offer and the wide range of sizes that were available. After filling out the questionnaire and waiting a few minutes I finally made it into the fitting room, was sized, and was brought several bras. I felt crushed that there weren't many options in my size that weren't nude but we finally found one that kind of worked. The issue with it was that it had some sort of line through the bra while wearing that made the bottom half of my boobs look somewhat flat and dented. After playing with it we found out that if we were to stitch it in a certain spot it made it look better. Well, I left the store feeling hopeful and even called back to see if they could order more bras like that in different colors since the nude one was the only one they had in stock (was told they could but it would take a long time to receive it). So to Amazon I went and ordered two of the same bras but in pretty colors. When those arrived I immediately put them on and noticed they didn't have that weird issue like the one in the store had. I called the store and mentioned it, so they told me to bring the new bras in and they'd see what was going on. Once there Tina immediately looked at me in the new bra and loudly said that it was too small--even though it was the same exact bra in the same size I purchased from the store. I tried to show her that the one I purchased from her was not giving me the smooth look like the others did, perhaps the first one was defective? After several minutes of back and forth between the bras she finally snatched the original bra from the fitting room and said she just couldn't see what the problem was (yet she saw it the first time I was there) and that she couldn't help me. I felt like I was doing the walk of shame back to the counter--she had agreed to give me a refund, which is why I gave this place two stars instead of one. I couldn't believe how different I felt leaving the store this time. Based off of my experience there the second time I definitely won't be returning. No customer should leave a store feeling like they're the bad guy simply for speaking up when they weren't satisfied with a product. read more

If it's your first time shopping, make an appointment - I am so glad I called ahead an asked because they get busy! I went for a backless bra needed for a bridesmaid dress, I didn't have a clear idea what my size was because I am currently nursing, Tina was able to size me and find a bra for the dress instantaneously! I was so relieved!! She also told me they sell nursing bras too, so I tried one on and got a couple too!! Definitely super high quality undergarments at a reasonable price and plenty of variety for women of all shapes and sizes. I stopped in at Tina's Closet in mid January 2007, based on Chelsea's review of 4/6/06. I had been looking for undergarments for my wedding dress, and was having no luck in the Indianapolis area (where I currently live). I was up to see my family in the western suburbs and decided to stop in at Tina's Closet with the idea that perhaps I might find something. When I walked in the door, the first thing I noticed was the service - I was immediately greeted and whisked away to fitting rooms to get measured for a bra (this is the store's thing - they specialize in bra fittings). Tina herself was there, and is quite spunky!!! They are definitely hands on, just be forwarned. It's not a bad thing, just not something most bra stores offer (but should!). Once I was fitted (and apparently I am a 34F or some crazy size not a 36D) the staff brought me dozens of things to try on - they did all the hard work in selecting stuff. I found some awesome bras, both for my wedding dress and for everyday. Yes, the bra was tighter than I was used to at the time, but in retrospect, the bras I bought from Tina are now my favorite bras and if I put on any of my older bras, they totally don't fit the same way and I don't like them. On a side note, they also have TONS of swimwear and also some clothes. I got sucked into trying on swimwear while I was there. Swimwear shopping is usually traumatic, but I actually found two suits (a one-piece and a tankini) there. And Tina's Closet did free alterations on one swimsuit (added a band in the back of the suit for better boob support, made the suit a little less cleavage bearing, and fixed some sag in the butt). And all for free, and they even shipped the suit back to me in Indianapolis. Again, the helpful staff pulled at least 35 swimsuits for me to try on. It was seriously like a fashion show with both Tina and at least two other helpful staffers giving me their candid thoughts on the bras and swimsuits. This is BY FAR the BEST RETAIL EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD, bra shopping, or any other type of shopping. I am planning to make it a point to do all my bra shopping with Tina's closet, even though it requires a 3.5 hour drive for me from Indianapolis. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED when you shop here. Seriously. I can't say enough about this place. And I'm fairly young (27) so it's not like this is a bunch of old-ladies trying on gramma bras here!!! (But they have gramma bras, too!) :-) It's expensive, but aren't your boobs worth having the perfect bra? And speaking of which, I dropped over $300 on two bras and two swimsuits, and just wanted everyone to know that they take credit cards, since Yelp isn't showing that they do. read more

This is a great place if you have trouble finding bras to fit you. Tina, the owner, really is a special gal and will measure and fit you to the actual size you wear -- not the size you think you wear. :) If you are larger in chest area this place is great and has sizes that go higher than I ever knew existed. I got my wedding lingerie here as well as all of my nursing bras. Also, if a bra needs to be fixed to fit you Tina does the altering herself. Now, the bras are a bit more than you might pay somewhere else but it is worth it to me...I need the extra support. ;) Anyway, I have recommended this place to several friends and family members.... And a side note -- she does have other items for sale, bathing suits, pj's and I think she is even selling formal attire. WoW, I can't believe I forgot to review this gem of a undergarment shop! I have told dozens of people about this place! Tina knows boobs!! I heard she was writing a book about women and proper fittings, I don't know if she ever finished it?? I know she has been asked to be on Oprah as well!! Beware- when you see Tina for the first time, she doesn't mince words! She tells it the way it is! You may not like it, but she'll put you where you need to be! She can be a little hard to take. My Mom is still afraid to go in there since my wedding when Tina told her she was wearing the "way wrong bra size"! For someone who is constantly dieting and thinking she is way smaller than she is doesn't want to hear she just went from a 38C to a 36F! A little shocking. Bras. You're probably doing it wrong. Not unlike hundreds of thousands of women, I was pretty sure I was wearing the wrong bra size. Despite long hours spent in department store fitting rooms, I still ended up with overflowing cups, falling down straps, and just feeling uncomfortable. Tina's Closet had been on my bookmark list a long time, and when I had a major underwire malfunction at work, I knew it was time to make the time. On a Saturday afternoon, even though I didn't make an appointment, I didn't have to wait long, I filled my sheet out and sat for maybe 5-7 minutes. Tina herself took me back and measured me, then handed me a few to try for size. Sure enough the first one fit well - a smaller band and bigger cup than I'd been wearing. You know what also helps? Putting your bra on the right way. Tina and the woman who took over - I didn't catch her name - gave me a whole bunch more to try on, helped me adjust straps, put the band in the right spot (probably lower than you think) and generally gave advice and help. Try not to be too shy. These ladies have seen it all and are just there to help. If you want different styles or looks, tell them. I was a little worried I might end up spending a lot, but prices were marked on the tags and budget was part of the questionnaire. It seemed pretty in line with department store prices. Not only did I end up with two bras in my correct size, but they also altered them for me, taking the bands in a little for a snugger fit and longer life. What can I say that hasn't already been said? I've been wearing the wrong bra size most likely my whole life, and Tina's Closet fixed that. I went in after work today and although it was quite busy, it was only about a 15 minute wait. I brought along the bridesmaid dress that brought my bra-whoas front and center to make sure anything new I bought fit nicely underneath. I was measured in what seemed like a half a second and in about 2 minutes was handed the first bra I've ever worn that actually fit me. I will definitely be back! The experience was very nice from the start. I called for an appointment and got a call back right away. I wasn't sure what to expect when i walked in because of the poorer Yelp reviews, but the store is clean, comfy and smells very nice. They sell everything from lingerie to room sprays to swimsuits and fancy jewelry. It has very cozy carpeting and soft piano music is playing. The ladies working there were very soft spoken and sweet and I was seen right after I filled out a size sheet and answered some questions. Tina fitted me after chatting about what I was looking for and my previous experiences in bra badness. She is a firm middle aged woman but also very kind and fun. She reminds me of one of my best friends mothers, who was also kind and loving but also called you a twit if you were acting like one. And yes, that is "twit" and not a misspelling of something else. The reason I say this is because she tells you right away you are in the totally wrong size and fits you with a hella tight bra. But her main goal is to make you look and feel as sexy as possible and pull the girls up. She's got a noble fight with gravity as a worthy opponent, but she explains everything to you and why she does what she does. Bras are not meant to be worn waaaaay up on the back, but in the skinniest part of your hourglass in your back. That's why underwire makes me sick to my stomach, it's pulled up and underneath my boobs and into my ribs instead of sitting lower like it's supposed to. I went from a 38DD to a 34/36 H. My husband will be pleasantly surprised, lol. I figure it's like a new pair of shoes. They feel a little weird and uncomfortable at first, maybe a bit too tight in some places, but as you wear them they begin to fall into place and sheep the way you want them to. I walked out with two bras that I never would have thought to try on. I'm big into vintage and retro and these bras make my boobs look a little pointy or than normal, which I love. I was even able to pick up a bra with underwire, which I normally hate. All in all it cost me about $110 which should last me a good long time with the recommendation from Tina that I hand wash everything. They did an alteration on one of my bras right then and there, it only took about 10 minutes to links in the strap. And I was definitely invited back if I needed any more alterations done on either of these bras or other bras. I wish I had asked one of the ladies how often I should wash my bras, I'm a really bad person when it comes to that type of thing. I normally wear my bra off for a week to two weeks at a time and then give it a wash in the washing machine. And yes I said one bra because I hate shopping for them almost as much as I hate shopping for jeans. After going to Tina's closet, I feel a little bit more like an adult. The client base seems to be mainly middle-aged to older women which is what I saw there at least. I guess I am an adult and I should probably be wearing more adult things. And now, I'm off to get used to elastic in some strange new places. read more

I'm not a small girl, and I never will be. In fact I had a breast reduction a few years back. Lucky me... They are BACK! I lost a few pounds recently and my bra didn't fit anymore. My friend recomended going to Tina's Closet. Now I live in the city and this is a hike! She lives out this way, so we planned a girls weekend and Tina's was the first stop. Everyone at Tina's was so nice and helpful. We came in and were quickly greeted. As we waited to be fitted for bras, my girlfriend tried on a few swim suits and found one that she really likes. She's a 34 G so she can never find anything that fits. Once in the back, they quickly fit me and gave me a few options to choose from. I got a great sports bra, which is hard when you are bigger and a nice everyday bra. The woman in the next changing room and I were chatting too while being fitted. It was such a relaxing, easy atmosphere. When I got ready to leave, I was happy to find that the bras were pretty reasonably priced. You never find anything above a DD in a regular store and it cost about $50-60 to order them online. This was about the same price but no shipping and you actually get fit for the right size. I had been struggling with bras since i was 13, i'm now 16 and still struggling. I made my mom make herself, me, and my friend an appointment with Tina for a bra fitting and to leave with a perfect bra. Needless to say, we are in-love with our bras and Tina. She is so helpful and caring, she takes so much time to make sure we love the fit and the look of our bras. I came as a 32DDD, overflowing the cup like crazy, back fat popping out of bra, went to the doctor for back pain, almost did physical therapy, etc. I left with no overflow, my entire breast covered, no back fat, perfect posture, and no pain. Tina gave me a 30J (one band size down and 4 cup sizes larger) and right when i put it on i knew right away that was the exact bra i wanted. I left with two bras, my mom got 1, and my friend got 1. When my friend and I came into this store, I was a very excited bride looking for a simple long-line bra to accommodate my wedding dress. When I arrived I barely got a few steps in the door when I was pleasantly greeted. Unfortunately, that's the last thing about my experience that was pleasant. As soon as I explained that I was looking for a bra to go under my wedding dress and the demeanor completely changed. I was first sized up, and then told that they suggest having the dress with you to fit for bridal. I said I understood, but I wouldn't be able to get it before my next fitting because it was still being altered, and asked if I could still try some things on since it was a very simple style that would fit any bra without straps. The three girls in the store continued to stress that without my dress they didn't think I should look at anything and that their sales were final. I even said I understood that, and if I found something that fit properly I would be okay purchasing with the knowledge that I couldn't return it. No matter what I said, no one ever offered to help me. Throughout the entire experience I was extremely uncomfortable and never even got father than 2 feet in the door. It's hard to put into words how poorly treated my friend and I both felt. After about five or ten minutes of attempting to convince them to take my business, I walked out, went elsewhere, was treated with excitement, and got exactly what I needed. I am very pleased with my first time visit to Tina's Closet. This is one well run shop. I arrived about 11:00am on a Saturday. I had to wait about 30 minutes to get fitted but once in the fitting room, it was zoom, zoom, zoom, and within 10 minutes I was walking out of the fitting room wearing one really, really comfortable bra home and taking another with me to the check out counter. I've never had such a terrible experience at a store before. It started from the moment I walked in the door for my scheduled appointment. The woman at the front was rude and unfriendly, didn't even greet me when I walked in the door but aggressively gave me a clipboard to fill out my information. I continued to go into the dressing room where again I was abruptly greeted. I was never asked if I'm looking for a bra/undergarments for a special event, rather quickly measured and given samples to try on that didn't work for me. Instead of actually acting like a consultant at a specialty shop, she was annoyed that the samples didn't work out. This trip was a complete waste of time, I will never go back or recommend this store to anyone in my circle. I will gladly spend my money elsewhere. read more

I was very disappointed with my experience at Tina's Closet. It was recommended to me from a sales associate at David's Bridal, since I'm trying to find a specialty bra. My friend and I arrived about 15 minutes before closing time and were greeted by a sales associate. We explained what I was looking for and our sales girl excused herself for just a minute. When she came back she told us that I couldn't look at any bras today because Tina insists on fitting everyone herself and requires 30 minutes to do so. I would just have to make an appointment and come back later. This was not the kind of service I was expecting. We explained this would be impossible since I live out of state and that I would not be coming back. I just needed to know if they had what I was looking for. I still got the same reply with more attitude that they would not show us any of the bras Tina's Closet carries. My friend then read the riot act to the sales associate letting her know that she just lost a sale and we would never refer anyone here. It doesn't take much time or effort to be courteous or put forth even just a little effort to see if something can be done. I cannot recommend Tina's Closet to anyone. read more

I decided I needed professional help, as I was a 32DD before pregnancy. After yelping i found Tina's closet and decided to give it a go. Best idea ever! Tina and her staff are amazingly efficient! There was no lack of inventory for me to try on, i don't think there was a size that they did not have for me to try. I was actually a 30G---try finding that size in the department stores. After finding the perfect bra for a reasonable 50$ they did a quick alteration on the spot for me so i could walk away with the bra that day. I visited Tina's yesterday and had a great experience. I recently lost 50 pounds and really needed a good bra fitting. I had a few people suggest this place so I thought I would try it out. I actually did not have Tina size me, I had one of the other women who work there. And I have to say she was great! She was very gentle, kind, and really helped me understand what makes a good fit. I have a harder to find size and I was so happy they carried it in stock! I was even more amazed that the prices were really reasonable. I have been to other places (corporate chains) and I got terrible bra fittings. I think they just wanted to squeeze me into something in stock. Tina's is not like that at all! They will really take the time to make sure you have the right fit for you. I do wish they would update their interior though, the decorations are a bit drab and I think they would benefit from some redecorating. Tina's Closet is just about the only place I can get a bra that fits me. The gals at Victoria's Secret always try to tell me I am a 38D...even though I told them my size 34 bra was too big. At Tina's I always find something that fits. I will say that some people are put off by Tina. She is very honest. There have been times I have left there very frustrated. Sometimes a girl needs a little reassurance when she is half naked in front of a stranger and then is slapping out lots of dough. Sometimes I feel like Tina doesn't hear what I am trying to explain to her. She is often very busy. The bras in my size range are definitely not cheap. However, the alterations are affordable. All in all, this is the only place I buy bras anymore. The pros outway the cons. This is the place that I always suggest to my friends. I just make sure to give the warnings first. Tina's closet was recommended by a friend to get fitted for a nursing bra. Upon entering the store you need to take a number and fill out an application with your size, price range, etc. I was measured by Tina herself and found a great nursing bra within a few minutes. The things I disliked where the fact that if you don't purchase a bra, you are charged a $25 consultation fee to know your size. Another thing was that I said my price limit was $50 and I ended up purchasing a bra for $64 (there wasn't a price tag on it). I'm glad I went there for my nursing bra and I could see going there if you have a bra size that is hard to fit or find, but I won't be going back for a regular bra. read more

Nice location, well ran, extremely nice and helpful staff. Tina herself fitted me and I bought a strapless bra and a sucker-inner-thingy to wear under a bridesmaid dress. Once your name or number has been called, they are very efficient in getting you fitted and out of there. The longest part of the process is that there are no appointments. I went on a Tuesday afternoon around 2pm and had about 4 people ahead of me, which equated to about a 30-minute wait. I'm sure they are swamped on Saturdays. They measure/fit you every time you come in. They have all kinds of bras, some lingerie, bathing suits, and I like that they work with patients who have had mastectomies on getting their bras and prosthesis' fitted. I needed new bras and I've been reading a lot lately about how to get the proper bra size. So, I drove out to Tina's Closet from the far NW side of Chicago because I read so many good things about it on Yelp. I've been getting my bras at Nordstrom for several years because they have fitters on staff. Tina's Closet has them beat hands down. The woman who fitted me at Tina's Closet was not Tina, and was a bit taciturn but she knew her business. She did a couple quick measurements over my clothes, and this concerned me. The night before my visit, I had my boyfriend measure me with my bra off following the instructions I found on a reputable site. http://www.breakoutbras.com/sizing Whenever I've been fitted in the past it was always with me wearing just my bra, not my top, and I knew from my measuring experiences the night before that measuring band size while wearing a bra gave me a different result. I shouldn't have doubted the fitter, though. The band on the first bra was a bit too large, but she spotted that right away and came back with another one that was exactly the measurement my boyfriend noted and which fit me much, much better. I tried on about six or seven different bras trying to get the best cup size and features that I wanted. (I really dislike those molded up bras!) The bra I wore into the shop was purchased at Nordstrom about a year ago with the help of a fitter. It was a 36DDD and it was quite uncomfortable since it had stretched out with wear. But it also was very much the wrong size. My new bras are a 32 band size (Yes! I had been wearing a band much too large for years!) and are either a G or an H cup (different manufacturers). Total cost on the bras was *less* than I normally spend at Nordstrom on bras, and the cost included some minor alterations needed to make the cups fit me perfectly. The only bummer is that I have to wait a few days until the alterations are done to wear my new bras. If you don't drive, the store is about two blocks from the Lisle Metra stop, making it very convenient to reach from the city. The store was very busy on the day on went, but the entire process -- from getting a number, filling out a form, getting fitted and trying on lots of bras, and checking out -- took about an hour. Definitely worth the trip and I hope Tina's Closet is around for a long, long time! read more

Found Tina's on the internet and was a walk in on a Saturday am. Needed some bras for business and exercise. Sales associate putting me in bras from the 60's Nylon and cheap, with underwire that could have been rebar from a construction site. I left with red marks on my torso from trying on all of these bras. Did not leave with anything and spoke to the "bra doctor" owner about my experience and she said "bra shopping not suppose to be fun and come back when I am in another frame on mind" Beware. read more

I love this place! For the past 10 years, I've been driving two hours (each way!) for this place. No other place has been able to fit me as well as this place. Totally worth the drive. I'm in and out and leave with bras that actually fit. I won't waste my time at any other place. read more

I love, love, love this place! I wear a 34GG, so being able to walk into a store and find a bra that fits is not something I take for granted. I've always gotten my bras by mail order in the past-a huge pain because every bra fits differently, so I often had to deal with returns. Tina takes care of me every time, and she carries a huge selection of both everyday bras and cute bras in my size, so I never leave empty-handed. My first trip was about a year and a half ago, for nursing bras. She has seen me through that as well as the post-pregnancy weight loss. I am fitted on each visit to make sure my size hasn't changed. The service is incredible-I purchased a bra there in October, and I had to go to a 40GG (the largest size in that bra) to get the cup to fit, so they altered it, at no charge, to remove 6 inches of fabric from the back in order to make the band fit properly. Try getting that kind of service by mail order! As for the prices, they didn't shock me because I'm used to having to shell out $50 or $60 to get a bra that fits due to my size. I'm just glad to have a place to go where I can try them on rather than just ordering the size that I think will fit. If I'm going to spend that much, I feel better knowing I'm getting the best possible fit. Speaking of fit, some people have complained about leaving with bras that feel tight. She fits you this way because bras begin to stretch very quickly. If she sells you a bra that's already loose, it will be saggy in a few months. She is trying to give you a better fit for a longer period of time. I love this place, and I will definitely be back next time I need bras! read more

Tina is amazing!! I went there today to get fitted for my wedding dress. I have to say didn't know was wearing the wrong size bra for one thing. She was so helpful! She found the perfect bra for my wedding dress. She also recommended so many cute things for our honeymoon from lingerie, bikini, and a cute little dress! She is totally accommodating and no pressure...an absolute sweetheart. I totally recommend her place and will be back. read more
