The service was miserable. We only came here because life cafe was closed for renovations. We waited forever to even order. Then when the lady finally came, she mumbled to us what do you want and as an afterthought asked us if we wanted something to drink. We then got our food and were ignored for the duration of our visit. In fact, the waitress walked by our table with the pot of coffee, gave our neighbors coffee and brought the coffee back without even glancing our way. It was as if she hated the fact that we were there interrupting whatever the hell she was doing. We then finished our food and waited 20 minutes for the check and didn't get it until the cook looked our way. The food was decent enough and pretty cheap but I will never go back there. read more

There are so many things that would have made our fine dining experience at Tina's more pleasant. The décor was a drab "dive-diner chic" that could have been refined to match the "hipster vogue" of nearby Brooklyn eateries. I was disappointed that our breakfast was not served on very fancy/expensive plates. The coffee cups were similarly cheap, and I almost left when a gentleman dressed in a paint-splattered sweatshirt, corduroys, and boots presented us with plain made-in-China flatware on thin pedestrian napkins. Our waitress clearly did not give two hoots about her personal appearance. She was wearing an apron (circa 1948? circa 1949?), ostensibly to shield herself from the splattering of food particles from the grill. Seriously, guys. Tina's is a small simple diner that has numerous options that average five dollars each. Five dollars. Five dollars for a plate filed with home fries, eggs, sausage, and toast, coffee included. Those same five dollars would maybe get you a couple of crackers and a Smart Water (TM) at the nearby Khim's Millenium Market, or provide you the round-trip subway fare to pay $30 for bottomless wilted kale at some hipster joint in DUMBO. I am definitely a regular here. It's good cheap diner food and always the same friendly staff. They have every medicine, tea, and bottled juices and drinks you can imagine if you're hung over. It's covered in wood paneling and they often play TV Land on a really old TV in the back and I love it. It gets crowded but you're never waiting for a table for more than a few minutes. read more

Tina's has apparently been a Bushwick neighborhood staple for 39 years, and in a city where authentic neighborhood diners are becoming fewer and further in between, I was thrilled to give this place a shot. The short of it? Cheap prices (breakfast specials start at $3.50 before 11, and they include a complimentary beverage of your choosing). Decent, albeit greasy food - nothing to write home about. Exactly what you'd expect from a diner. Average service. Another score? It's definitely still got a neighborhood vibe and isn't overrun with the brunch crowd. They let us sit there for over an hour reading the paper and finishing our puzzles without a problem. If you live in this city, you don't need me to tell you what that's worth. Bushwick native for 23 years (SOME of the hipster reviews are made by pretentious new guys who think they know what's best in this neighborhood, HA) & I can honestly say: Tina's is a staple in the community for cheap, yet tasty, breakfast. Granted, the food takes a little long to come off the grill, but it is soon forgotten when the food finally arrives. I, personally, go with either the turkey bacon egg & cheese (pork? yuck) or the steak & eggs combo. The food isn't gourmet, say as something you'd find in midtown west, but it's made with love (& isn't that all that really matters??). All in all, a great little spot to come with friends after a wild night & just reminisce about all the shenanigans you got into the night before. If you're looking for a full plate (ie: chicken tenders, waffle fries or any other diner food of that nature) look elsewhere, but if you want more of a humble meal (eggs, burgers, finger sandwiches, etc) then Tina's your girl. read more

Amazing place for when you are drunk and have no money. Service is fine, the food is not the best, but it matches the price point and its what you want. Very akin to a small town cafe on the westcoast where truckers would drink coffee on breaks. Love it. Definitely get up and go to the counter to pay your bill or you might have to wait a while. No shenanigans or Tina will basically ignore you. Charming old school diner, ordered takeout 3 blocks...would prefer to not have my over eggs piled on top of the waffle...making it as soggy as an ego waffle in the microwave. Tina's gets 4 stars as a diner because they are always friendly, the food is always cheap, and totally satisfying. Is it the best food you're ever going it eat? Will it be your last meal? This place sucks! My boyfriend took me there on a Saturday morning. There was one tired waitress doing all the serving, one juice/ water/ coffee runner, who worked at the speed of smell, and one chef. We were there for an hr and only got served one cup of coffee, even thow we had asked for another. The couple next to us came in a half hr after we did, and received their food first. Then, when we were about ready to leave our food arrives. The food wouldn't have been half bad if the ketchup we put on it hadn't been rancid. The waitress disagreed with us and said it was just the ketchup.. rancid ketchup? We left 4 bucks on the table for the coffee and walked out. I will never go back read more

I'm a big fan of no-nonsense diners. Here's your coffee, here's your home fries, eggs and bacon. When it's super busy the service does suffer but the staff are always friendly, polite, and accommodating. And it's insanely cheap. I went with two friends, each of us got a full breakfast and coffee and the check was ~$20.
