Looking for some great Mexican food? This is your place. Honestly the pork tacos are to die for. Personally, I think that $2 for the size of the tacos is a little steep, especially when it's only 1 taco that you're getting, but they were tasty. You can either eat inside or outside. The outside eating area seems to just be a backyard of their house. There was also some left over food and garbage left on the table from a previous customer. I'm not complaining though. The lady who helped us was very nice and brought the food out to our table. It was a great meal and if I'm in the area again I'll make sure to stop by. read more

Tia's Tacos! Oh, yummy! The food here is fresh and delicious. A must if you are on the island any day. I had the taco combo. Two soft tacos with rice and beans. I had one sweet potato taco and a one beef. The salsa bar had all the fixings I needed to add. Simply delicious! If you don't eat at Tia's , I feel sad for you. I can't wait to come back!! read more

I am new to the island and have been treated poorly by most everyone I have come in contact with...until I came here. The service here was phenomenal nobody made me feel like I was a tourist. I am not. I can't say enough about how kind people are here. I needed that. Not to mention the food is off the hook! I'm from Phoenix and I know Mexican food. No. Don't let the rating lead you astray. Very bland entrees and tacos here, or oddly flavored. There were a bunch of used gallon bottles of soy sauce (?!) in an exterior facing window and um yeah. That might explain a lot. read more

Great and affordable lunch spot in Friday Harbor, which is rare in this tourist town. I thought the salsa could be a little more...interesting (it seemed like it was just puréed tomatoes with a little jalapeño?) but that didn't stop me from eating plenty with the chips! The carne asada tacos were delicious and hit the spot and I really liked the pico de gallo, avocado sauce and sour cream that topped them off. I would give this place 4.5 stars if I could, taking just half a star off for the salsa, but it won't let me, so 4 stars it is. Would definitely recommend. read more

Tina's Tacos is a really cool place, homey and cozy! The food is absolutely yummy! Tina is very friendly and makes the food from scratch. It tastes fresh and healthy! The prices are reasonable given the amount of food you get. My husband had a beef quesadilla and it the best he had ever eaten! I had a taco salad and that was really yummy, too! OK, this place has been around for a little while and it took them a while to get it right, but it's an island gem these days. Totally laid back, friendly, and heart felt vibe. Food is delicious. Chips and salsa are free. This is a locals joint through and through and has developed a loyal local following. It's affordable which is something few island eateries can claim. Tacos are delicious, burritos awesome. Simple menu, but this place is the real deal. Cons? Not much I can come up with. Maybe some bigger cups for water? Nice job Tia's, we love you! read more

The tacos here are good enough for the low cost they are charging. I believe It is a couple bucks a taco, and for island standards that is cheap. The place could be better but they have zero competition on the island for such food so it is what it is. I had cow tongue here and it was decent. If you are in the mood for taco's while on the island then this is the spot to come. read more

Being an island town, Friday Harbor is not exactly overflowing with impressive places to eat, but I am not sure that type of dining is necessary in the San Juan Islands (I mean do you go there for truly gourmet meals or to experience the local outdoors?). I love Tia's Tacos! The food is tasty, authentic and AFFORDABLE. Living here is pricey and we rarely eat out. Most places here the food is just not good enough for the price charged and much as I want to support local businesses I also want to limit how often I feel like a chump for doing it. Tia's Tacos is one of the few exceptions. I nearly always get three pork and sweet potato tacos because they remind me of actual mexican street food which I love. My kids love the chimichangas, pupusas and quesadillas. The toppings bar is always fresh and the staff, as previously noted, is friendly and helpful. The water is free for the taking, though yes, it's not usually served yo you. On nice days their backyard seating is perfect and a quiet oasis (except during the reconstruction happening this summer). And, the coolest thing about Tia's is that they give students a free taco for every 'A' they get on their report cards. How sweet is that? So study up kids and get a real live free lunch! Also, as if their prices weren't already reasonable, if you like their page on Facebook they post a daily deal. read more

Tia's Tacos has some of the best Mexican food on San Juan Island. This restaurant, run from a converted home, is located on a side street running perpendicular to the county court house in Friday Harbor. There is limited seating inside, but the back yard has several picnic tables for outdoor eating. Parking is very limited, so most of the time you will need to park on the street. Service at Tia's is friendly and welcoming. Your server will gladly have a conversation with you if you feel so inclined. Order at the counter in front; there is a small menu board located to the right of the counter. The food is excellent. Portions are average to small, but filling nonetheless. Tacos are $2 each, so order a few. Choose a filling: sweet potato, veggie, beef, pork, or chicken. Tia's also has burritos, which are a good size and taste excellent. I prefer the chimichanga, which is deep fried and comes with a large portion of salsa on top. There is a salsa bar to the left of the counter, for adding extra toppings to your taco or burrito. Prices at Tia's are good by island standards, especially if you order tacos. $6 for 3 tacos will be ample for a tasty lunch. Tia's also does take out, so feel free to take your lunch to a nearby park or the waterfront. If you're looking for affordable, authentic, and delicious Mexican food, Tia's is the place to go in Friday Harbor. read more

I've eaten tacos at some of the best reputed taquerias in the Puget Sound area and this place has them beat. The flavor of the al pastor is outstanding. As an added bonus, the atmosphere is casual, adobe meets San Juan, and the owner and staff are super friendly; they sent us away with complimentary chips and salsa for the kids to enjoy later. We were in Friday Harbor for a school event and stumbled upon this place for a quick bite with four hungry kids. The tacos were amazing, you can't beat the prices especially when most other places around are pricey and cater to tourists. They had vegan options, fresh fish and wonderful carnitas tacos. Immediately pulled over when we saw this spot. I had the pork and the carne tacos. The carne asada was spot on. Closer to Baja taco shop set up then many of the taco shops I'm used to in San Diego. Ate here today with my family. Would have given a 5 star rating however, the owner is a "chip nazi". Their menu says "complimentary chips and salsa" except that after you and the 4 other people in your family finish the tiny nacho size paper bowl, you're asked to pay $2 for more chips. But if we'd each come in separately we would have each received a paper bowl of our own complimentary chips. We purchased 3 adult meals and 2 kids' meals, paid over $60 for burritos and a small cheese quesadilla but had to pay $2 more for chips enough for each of us to be able to have some. Insane. Now for the food. The food was actually really good. But unfortunately, my oldest asked for no pico or jalapeños but got them anyway. Being the person she is, she didn't want to cause problems by asking for them to remake so she picked around what she didn't like.
