Taco Plate. Sorry about the photo, it looked so good I got excited and started eating before I remembered to snap a pic. Yum!

I'm always wary of places that deliver multiple cuisines and especially so of those in tourist locations. It turns out there is a hole in the universe where the stars align to produce perfection contrary to what you are used to. Tina's delivers top notch tacos/mexican AND breakfast fit to knock your socks off. The taco end of the menu is on point with great flavor, good portions and I can't wait to go back! This didn't come from the Cisco frozen food truck. Breakfast is not artsy, herb drowned creations with fancy names: it's the classics. Benny's, pancakes, buiscuits and gravy, etc. all done so well that I hurt myself eating because I couldn't stop. Tina's should teach classes and travel around teaching their ways. To cap it all off, the staff is efficient, friendly (sometimes brief during busy tourist times) and very hospitable and helpful. They make great food and get it out to you. One weekend, we hit it 3 times. Enough said?

Yeah, I don't think so. Two tiny tacos and a giant portion of beans and rice. We're already on Friday Harbor so people know it's gonna be expensive regardless. You might as well charge me more and give me a plate that's actually satisfying. I didn't even like the tacos that much. So much cabbage, it's like a cabbage taco that happens to have a little bit of fish in it. And the fish itself is like half breading. And that fish is dry and the breading was inconsistent. I started drizzling Tapatio over everything. Nice rice, what brand of box was it? I agree with the other reviews that question how this can have a near five star average. Maybe some of their other meats are better, but this fish taco is not it. I haven't been to Friday Harbor in forever. If this is considered one of the better restaurants nowadays then it's not worth the ferry ride.

Smoked jalapeño popper hipi hash with eggs over easy and a biscuit

First of all the food was amazing, I had a smoked jalapeño popper hash with eggs over easy. It was really flavorful and I had the biscuit which could have been the best I have ever had, super soft and lightly grilled. The smoked poppers and bacon was really great. My wife had the traditional eggs Benedict which she really enjoyed. We sat outside with a nice view of the harbor over the ferry line. The service was great and we were checked in with several times. The space is a bit funky but works for a casual meal. I can only imagine how good their tacos are....looking forward to finding out!

Visited Tina's this Friday on a day jaunt to Friday Harbor. The place is quite small but the tables are a good size and comfortable. The restaurant is clean, bright and inviting and has a nice vibe. The server was alone and busy but still greeted us, brought us a complimentary chips & salsa before our order. There are the usual drinks and beer, which some folks were enjoying on the outside patio. I had the sweet potato burrito which was MASSIVE, flavorful and so filling. My partner had the chimichanga which he devoured no problem (though he did start to slow down at the end). Prices are reasonable for the area, each entrée was in the $12+ neighborhood, which is a great deal for quality, volume and flavor. Every visit to Friday Harbor will find us in this sweet little joint.

Aloha, when at Friday Harbor and looking for a big breakfast, Tina's Tacos is the place. Located on a side street a great find. Super generous portions at reasonable price. And after seeing the lunches on the next table, I'll be back for lunch too. Enjoy

Way more than tacos. Their breakfast is excellent! I tried different dishes, and all were amazing. I tried 7 restaurants over a 4 day period and this was the best.

The portions here are incredible! I tried the breakfast burrito and the rustic benny. The breakfast burrito would definitely feed two people. It's the size of a newborn baby and came with a side of sour cream. I opted to make it spicy with hot sauce and jalapenos inside. The rustic benny really is just like biscuits and gravy with bacon on it. A perfect place to stop for brunch before your San Juan Island adventure.

This place is good. I'm from Southern California so I'm kind of a Mexican food snob. You're not gonna find anything like Southern California Mexican food around here. It's just not comparable. But it is good. I'm giving this place five stars because it was done fast and the guys working there were cool. Good customer service I will be back. Don't come to this place with super high expectations. We are in the Pacific Northwest after all. Not exactly known for our Mexican food up here. But it's decent. Give it a try.

After noticing that two couples who arrived after us had already been seated, I went back inside to ask about our table. The staff seemed a little irritated by the question, which wasn't a great start to the experience. The waitstaff was very attentive and friendly throughout our meal, which I appreciated. However, it took quite a while for our food to arrive, and when it did, it wasn't very hot. I ordered my eggs over medium, but they came out overdone. From what I observed, the kitchen and counter staff seemed somewhat disorganized, which may have contributed to the long wait and cold food. I've heard mixed reviews about this place, and based on my visit, it seems like your experience may depend on the day. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. There are definitely some positives, especially with the waitstaff, but overall the experience fell short of expectations.

We stopped by Leaven for breakfast one morning on our trip getting a savory crêpe each and a couple pastries. Didn't even make it though breakfast before we knew we had to do a repeat the very next day because it was so good. Crepes are French style and are clearly made with skill and talent. The space is bright and cheery with very friendly staff. I see other reviews mentioning waits during busy times or complaints but experienced nothing of the sort. We were a bit off peak and didn't have that issue but I can honestly say I'd be HAPPY to wait for the food at Leaven. This is really something special and whoever is behind it has a gift.

Our photographer suggested Leaven as a place we could take photos at since we love going to cafes together. We ordered a Cauliflower Crepe, Cauliflower Danish, and Matcha Latte. The crepe was delicious! I love have a savory crepe once in a while, and this crepe had the perfect amount of creaminess from the cheese, crunchiness from the cauliflower and onions, and freshness from the arugula. The same could be said about the danish. They had great components of a creperie/cafe. The Matcha Latte though, was not up to par. It seems it wasn't whisked well, so it tasted grainy. Overall, not taking a point off for it because what they specialize in was so great! Besides the food, the space was pretty lively. During our photoshoot, there was live music and every table was taken up. Leaven seems like a great space for a hangout or catch up with someone. Our party of three visited for lunch at noon on a Thursday. Since we had a reservation, we were seated immediately at a lovely table right by the window. The atmosphere was great, and the staff were incredibly courteous and friendly throughout our meal. We initially thought about starting with some small plates, but we were so eager for seafood that we jumped straight into the entrees. We weren't disappointed: Bouillabaisse: This was our first time trying this dish, and it was the highlight for us. It was incredibly flavorful--exactly what we were craving. Spicy Prawn Mac and Cheese: It definitely lived up to its name! It wasn't "blow-your-head-off" hot, but it had a perfect, noticeable kick that really elevated the dish. Blackened Cod Tacos: These were fantastic. The cod was perfectly prepared and worked so well with the rest of the taco ingredients. We also enjoyed a couple of non-alcoholic drinks that hit the spot, though I'll admit that since I'm writing this a couple of weeks later, I forgot to snag photos or the specific names of the drinks! They also have a really nice patio area if you prefer dining outdoors. Whether you're a seafood lover or just looking for a great meal with a view, this place is a must-visit!

For the nature of the restaurant, we had hoped for our waitress to be more friendly and genuine. However, it felt like they just wanted to fulfill our order and be done. I ordered the South Sound Clams and Snapper Sandwich. Bathing in an umami-packed and rich Thai curry broth, the clams were tender and fresh with a bit of brine. Very good and shareable with one other person. The snapper sandwich wowed me! The bright escovitch and creamy avocado paired wonderfully with the snapper. Every bite was delightful. The house-made potato chips, however, were disappointing. They were thin, not crispy, and sticking to my teeth. If you can, substitute for fries or salad. Despite our subpar service, the delicious, well-priced food and beautiful scenery still make this the perfect date spot.

Owned by the same company, this restaurant is a more casual counter-service type of establishment, apparently famous for their donuts, which we of course had to order as well. It was pretty busy at 11AM, but there were plenty of tables both inside and out. The food took around 20 minutes to arrive. Maple Donut ($2.49) - This donut looks better than it eats. It tastes decent enough - both icing and cake base that aren't too sweet, with vanilla flavored dough and a tiny bit of maple flavoring in the icing. The problem is the texture - when I want a really good cake donut, I expect there to be a crust on the outside contributing a bit of a texture difference vs. the soft and fluffy cake interior. This one, on the other hand, is completely soft and fluffy throughout, like it wasn't fried nearly long enough to develop a crust. Either that, or it had been sitting too long in a moist environment? The sign says they make these fresh daily, so it's a bit strange. It's also a bit on the oily side. (3/5) Clam Chowder, Bowl ($10.95) - Good creaminess, a good amount of ingredients mixed into the stew, with skin on red potato, celery, and clam. There's isn't too much clam swirling around, and the clam taste seems to be a little lacking compared to other clam chowders I've eaten. It's definitely more milky in taste than a lot of other chowders. They add a ton of dried herbs that add a bit more complex flavor. It's salty and milky, but otherwise a bit too light on the clam. Still, it's not a bad clam chowder by any means. (4/5) Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich ($19.95) - This sandwich includes a thinly pounded breast filet, breaded and fried to perfection. While it's white meat, it's surprisingly not dried out and instead is still rather softer in texture and not overcooked. The breading is fried very nicely, being almost cornflake-like in crunch factor. It's applied very evenly and tastes somewhat similar to KFC (texture-wise as well) - not that I've eaten KFC in a while, so I could be wrong! A ton of spices adorn the breading. If this is a frozen, commercial fried chicken patty, I would be very impressed. Lengthwise cut pickles line the bottom bun, which is buttered and toasted well, along with a smattering of fried jalapeno chips. There's a bit of slaw on top, then a bunch of chipotle mayo. It's a little smoky, but not really spicy at all. I do have an issue with the bun - it's a rectangular ciabatta that I don't think goes well with the sandwich. To have good textural contrast, typically fried chicken is paired with a soft and fluffy bun. The ciabatta, on the other hand is a denser and drier bread that doesn't fit as well. Then again, I was not expecting this sandwich to be any good and the quality certainly surprised me. The sandwich comes with some normal commercial thin fries. They are salted heavily, have a good crisp and taste like what a fry should taste. No complaints here. (4/5) I don't think I missed out on anything choosing to eat here instead of Madrona Grill. They serve simple, but satisfying fare. I'm just not sure why they are so famous for their donuts though! Bathrooms - Both larger rooms and individual rooms outside on both sides of the building shared with the other businesses.
