I called about a leaking pipe. The receptionist was very curt and made me rephrase my project three times, sort of implying that I was stupid or muddled. Then she informed me that they couldn't get to my problem until three days hence. And just to come out would be $155. So I wrote a check, cut off the water supply to the lower half of my house, and waited. When a T&R plumber came out, he was cheerful but told me nothing was wrong, just runoff from A/C. I gave him the check, and he said it was not enough--I had to pay tax, too. I noted that I was told it would cost $155. Yes, he said, plus tax. I got a twenty dollar bill out, but he refused to make change. My wife asked if we could use a credit card, and he said that would cost an extra 3%. I wrote a new check. This is simply nickel-and-diming, and I find it demeaning and ethically problematic. The plumber was in my house for ten minutes at most, and the receptionist gave me the wrong cost, too. If you are considering using Tindall & Ranson, think again. read more

I called these company as my water heater company suggested me to talk to the contractor listed on their site for the rusted water coming out of the water heater which was still under warranty. This technician who visted was trying brainwash me and suggested to replace the tank which is less that 6 years old. He was trying to oversell by stating that it would cost 600 dollars to replace the anode rod and it was worth replacing the tank, though the tank was absolutely fine and had no leaks. He did not have to flush as i had done it as part my maintanance routine. The company later sent me a quote of 600 dollars for replacing the anode rod. I bought the rod from Amazon for around 25 bucks and replaced it myself in 15 mins... Be Cautious, these guys try to rip you off !! read more

He explained everything thoroughly, was neat and efficient and gave me recommendations on ways to make the furnace/water heater room have better air flow. The actions of one employee can say a lot about a company. While I did not have an occasion to use their services, I can however bear witness to the character of one of their employees. A friend visiting from Japan dropped her wallet while crossing the street in Princeton near the McCarter Theater. A Tindall & Ranson technician was driving by at the time. I dismissed the honk of a horn as he passed as it could not be for us. I then noticed the van slow down and turn around in the middle of the road. He got out and we made eye contact as he crossed the street to retrieve something from the ground. He continued in my direction, handing me my friend's wallet. The guy sat in my house chatting for the rest of the hour and then had the audacity to charge me for the pleasure (also note--I had a back injury and would have far preferred if he had just gone away!) Tried to speak to management at TR but they claim the fee was justified. NEVER EVER again. Take your business *anywhere* else. read more

Finding a good plumber is like finding a diamond in the rough in New Jersey. Tindall & Ranson saved me...no hot water..tank part bad. Our hot water heater went so I called PSEG as we have the worry free repair service (which is very good to have). The service tech said and I agreed that the water heater should be replaced as it was 13 years old. I called the PSEG appliance replacement line and decided to get the 12yr warranty unit. They transferred me to the company that would do the installation. Tindall and Ranson plumbing. They said they would send someone out later that day. About 2hrs later they showed up. Andrew the technician explained what he would do and made several suggestions. I agreed and said ok to do it. Well to my surprise he said he would do it now! 2hrs later it was done. Andrew was amazing. Covered all the floors, removed the old heater, installed the new one, cleaned up when he was done and explained how to properly operate and maintain the unit. He was very professional and personable. As a note I thought the price was a little high but after it was all done it was worth it. Thank you Andrew! read more

Loved that both Dan and Steve showed up to my home in a mask during the Covid10 pandemic. They covered my floors in tarp so that my floors were protected as they came in and out from the snow. Woke up to no heat in the house, January 29, 2019 and the weather calling for a Polar Vortex. I called Tindall & Ranson as they installed and preform maintenance on my heating unit. The receptionist was unsure of when they would be able to come out, but did assure me that it would be that day. I was very happy when I received a call about 11:00 that the technician was on his way. They were very professional, took their time to find out what the issue was and then fix the problem. Beware! Called 10/14 to schedule to have a clog in the drain for my washing machine. Woman on the phone said they didn't have anyone available until the following Monday 10/21. Claims it has been busy. She said the estimate is $92 in addition to fees incurred if I decide to have her plumber fix the problem. I came to read the google reviews because she definitely didn't leave me with a warm fuzzy feeling. Thank goodness I did. Beware of this business!!! read more

I used this company because our pool service recommend them. I thought I had a leak with backwash pool pipe. Plumber didn't want to touch the pool very unhelpful and charged for service. The whole time was an attempt to upsell services. It turns out I never had a backwash pipe problem just irrigation system head stuck and flooded yard. Should have stayed with my usual plumber would not have charged for showing up. read more

Today, I had their technician Bill at my home to install an HEPA filtration and air scrubber system onto my furnace. He was polite, clean, quiet and extremely professional. Not only did he ensure that I knew how to properly monitor the new additions to my HVAC system he installed, he left my basement area cleaner than when he arrived this morning! I was so happy, I called the office right after Bill left to let them know how great he was. Charged $150 for a 15 minute visit where our pilot light had gone out on the coldest night of the year. The invoice said it included a "diagnostic". No such "diagnostic" occurred. The technician opened up the furnace door and then came upstairs to ask me for a lighter with which to re-light it. Price gouging at its best. read more

They told me that it will cost total of $178 ($89+$89) for installation of dish washer. But when the plumber came to my house, he told me that it is going to cost $450. There was big price difference for the service. They should have told me the total cost (at least approximate cost). They charged me $95 doing nothing. I think it is just a cheating to customer. They have to tell the customer upfront everything clearly. I do not recommend anybody to get service from this company. read more

These guys used to be decent, local, service oriented. Don't know what happened. 3 days before Christmas, my furnace blower failed. I called and they dispatched a tech. Only after diagnosing the problem and getting a quote for over $700 (mind you it's 50 degrees and my kids are freezing) did the tech mention, oh, and you'll have to pay now. I said I had always been billed before and he said that they've had too many people slow pay and I needed to pay now. Merry Christmas Tindall and Ranson. My advice is to use a different service - one that treats it's customers like human beings. What a terrible company. Home Depot would have billed me for the same repair. read more
