    Nachos Grande

We stopped by this place as it was opening up for dinner service. The waiters were so kind they let us in because it was chilly outside. We ordered nachos and tacos. We tried the nachos grande which was so good. It comes with a vegetarian chilli topping that was addictive. And as you can see from the photo, a huge amount of guacamole. We also ordered smoked brisket tacos. The meat was well seasoned and well cooked. And the tacos had so much filling (pico de gallo, sour cream, cheese, lettuce). It also came with a side of beans and rice. It was a decent amount of food for the price, we couldn't finish all we took the rest to go!

Excellent experience and food as usual. Service was quick and friendly. The chips and guacamole were fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the bar size burrito and salad lunch special.

Probably the worst tacos/food I've ever had! Upon walking in I found the atmosphere small, simple, and cool with its Mexican decor! I was noticed when I walked in but not greeted. There was one table occupied with two men having lunch. I stood there looking at the menu in front and decided I wanted to stay. After a few minutes the cashier/server (only visible worker) came to me and I was seated. Socially awkward vibes from the worker but I know how to mold so it was all good. He seemed so shy and uncomfortable speaking with me. Nonetheless, after being seated my order was taken quickly, a good suggestion was made after I asked, and some chips and salsa were served. I was starving and excited to try it. I ordered one steak taco and one fish taco. The tacos had rice and beans included as a side. I was hoping that wasn't to make up for a shortfall. I'm obsessed with tacos and from my experience every place that has amazing ones knows you don't need extras. -Chips and salsa 9/10 -Beans 2/10 (verrrry weird after taste) -Rice 0/10 (blah) -Steak taco 1/10 (took one bite and the small steak portion slid fully out. It was so fatty and chewy like bubblegum unable to eat it normally) -Fish taco 1/10 (plain tasting/ lots of filler as you can see in the photo. It was pretty much a vegan taco) I was starving so I just ate enough to sustain myself and took a mental note that I'd never be back or recommend this place. I was SO surprised with how terrible each food item was. Truly terrible. I usually enjoy most things I eat/try. This was NOT that. This place has so much potential! I know they can do better.

Great casual Mexican restaurant in Montclair. I went with a couple of my friends and we had a great time having lunch and drinking some margaritas. This place is BYOB so you can bring your own bottle and get some margarita mix from the restaurant and have yourself some yummy drinks. Food: we had to start of with the guacamole and chips. Then we enjoyed our entree. For my entree i had the chicken tinga burrito bowl. I enjoyed my food a lot.

One of my favorite spots in Montclair. Nice big portions, staff is so friendly. They always treat you like a regular. Everything is fresh and made on the spot comes out nice and hot. Their guacamole is awesome! I highly recommend this place if you're in the area.

Ordered takeout. There must be a tortilla chip shortage that we were unaware of because we received the teeniest, wimpiest vendor-packaged bag of chips with our $10 guacamole side. It was almost laughable how tiny it was. I remember this place being known for great portion sizes, and I was surprised to see how low the ratings have gotten on their Yelp page (I really used to enjoy their food), but here I am adding in a one-star review. This wimpy bag of tortilla chips is a representation of what Tinga has become- laughably disappointing.

I absolutely love Tinga's. The staff is super personable and their food is delicious. Their enmoladas is my go-to dish. So good!

Love the catfish tacos. Get it everytime and it's five stars. The rest of the menu is competent but not at the same level.

Oslo Felipe is one of those places that looks super trendy from the outside... but once you're…read moreinside, it feels more like a loud, kid-friendly diner vibe than the upscale experience you expect. Let's start with the good--food was the win--flavorful across the board, especially the tostada trio special. But everything else kind of missed the mark... The portions are tiny for the price. We literally had to order another appetizer after dinner because we were still hungry, which is never a great sign. Service was also not good at all. Slow, inattentive, and just not what you'd expect for a place like this. And my martini... small, warm, and just not good. That alone was disappointing. Also, be prepared--it is extremely loud. Not the place for a relaxing dinner or conversation. Overall, great flavors coming out of the kitchen, but between the portions, service, noise level, and drinks, it didn't live up to the hype for me

I recently learned of Oso Felipe on social media and thought it seemed like a cool spot. Then, I…read morenoticed that they were having a Mexican spirits tasting event, which sounded like a fun adventure and a great time to visit. We took a rideshare out there and were dropped off in front of the massive restaurant. We walked inside and were in awe of its trendy, modern Mexican vibe. The main floor offered a dining room and large bar, but we were told to head downstairs for the event. The sprawling basement offered two party rooms, the larger of which included a bar and was where we were sitting. These rooms seemed underdone and unfinished in comparison to the well-decorated upstairs, which might have been because the restaurant was on the newer side. The tasting was to include six samples and some light bites for an affordable $28. In front of each place setting were six shot glasses, holding two tequilas, two sotols, and two mezcals. Each spirit had been poured to be a mere taste and barely reached a fourth of the way up the glass. The staff leading the event was very fun and engaging, but took us through the six shots so quickly that we were done in moments. However, since the pours were so small, we were all willing to drink more. Per someone's request, the staff also wound up providing small tastings of three Mexican spirit-infused cocktails to enjoy while we continued to talk; we had all made the trip and did not want to cut the night short when we could be mingling with others. The beverage-accompanying snacks were hit or miss. The Yucca "Tots" were actually fried balls of the starch stuffed with melted cheese. They were delicious! The Salmon Tostadas were round tortilla chips topped with tequila-cured fish, roasted corn, and avocado cream, which combined into something resembling a ceviche. Those were decent and offered a variety of textures, but I thought they were missing some sort of flavor kick. Lastly, the Tortilla Chips were perfectly crisp, but very heavily salted. They served with a "spicy salsa verde" that seemed more like an avocado crema, of which I was not a fan, as well as a red salsa that was deliciously tangy and smokey. After the event wound down, we went back to the main floor bar to enjoy a full cocktail. My spicy mezcal margarita was made with their house bottle of Del Maguey Vida Mezcal and was fantastic. Plus, the bartender was a delight. We also discovered that there was a third floor that was much more of a lounge with couches, another bar, a photo booth and other items that created a sleeker, more celebratory atmosphere. Oso Felipe was such an unique and creative spot that offered festive vibes and bold drinks. Their food menu was vast, and I would like to go back to try some of their other items that I would be more likely to select myself.

Folklore has nice taco options for vegetarians. The hibiscus (flower) taco with slaw was so good. It's flavorful and hearty, and a satisfying meat alternative. We also tried the mushroom-spinach tacos with onion and cilantro; next time I would try this one with the slaw or ask for hot sauce or something to spice it up because it's fresh and good, but it paled in compared to the flavors of the hibiscus tacos. It's fresh ingredients and you can tell they make an effort in preparing, so I would still give it a higher rating. My husband had the veggie burrito bowl. He said it was filling, but did not have a variety of veggies. I suspect that meat bowls are really good. It could have also been that we ordered towards the end of the night. He said next time, he would get the hibiscus from Folklore. Chips and guac were a good side to share. Freshly made and tasty. Also I liked how they were packed in a red and white plaid food boat

It wasn't too bad but the fact that a piece of bone was in my tacos made it all the worse (pic included). From 3-stars to 2-stars. Avoid. Al pastor burrito - I just don't know why it tasted so dry. I tried rotating it so each bite would incorporate all the different components of the burrito but overall, just disappointing. Maybe not enough guac/pico? 3 stars Additionally, I asked for extra salsa but was only given the standard one small cup included with the tacos. Extra salsa would've helped on the burrito so not getting extra salsa was a bummer. Still looking for great Mexican food in the area...have yet to find it and this place most surely wasn't it. Without the snafus, I would rate this place 3 stars. But the bone fragment in my tacos + not providing extra salsa as requested...gotta drop it another star.
