Let me…read morestart by saying I've been seeing Dr. Okihiro for almost 20 years, that should give you an idea about how I feel about his level of service and expertise as a dentist. That being said I would hate to have to find another dentist because the office fails to communicate proactively and productively. Prior to my last visit I was given a quote for a crown, which would have been a two part visit, one visit to prep, the next visit to solidify the crown. Upon the completion of my first visit I made a payment which was higher than I expected it to be. Curious, I asked what would my final payment be after my second visit and I was told an amount which was about 4 times more than what I was expecting. It was explained to me that my insurance wouldn't be covering the service so I would be responsible for the full amount. To say I was shocked was an understatement, I wanted to cancel my next appointment. The office admin encouraged me to keep the next appointment and maybe work out a payment plan with the office manager. I waited for a call from the office manager that never came, instead a received a text message that reads as follows: "Hi XXX, due to circumstances, we are unable to keep your appointment on (insert date here), if you were planning on going through with the crown. We will be cancelling that appointment until you are ready to reschedule it or if you ever want to reschedule it. Thank you and have a great day!" I called the office twice and received their voicemail. I did not leave a message. I replied to the text asking to have their office manager call me. I have not received a call back. A simple phone call to let me know the price had changed, when they found out my insurance wouldn't cover the appointment, would have been extremely helpful. Instead they wait until my first appointment was completed to tell me the price had changed and they didn't volunteer the information, I had to ask. Very poor communication on their part and no accountability. I'm very disappointed.

I was already planning to commit, but didn't feel any type of genuine connection as a patient/client on behalf of the sales team. I did sign. But, having committed to spending thousands of dollars you would think that they would have set me up for success.. only to find out the day I get fitted for my retainers, "Oh, we don't have the digital monitoring attachment for iPhone 17 pro max. We will call you to pick that up when we get the attachment...." Like, shouldn't you have asked what kind of phone I had before? They said the attachment would come in a week, and they would give me a call when it becomes available so I can pick it up. I waited a week.. a month... I am now on week 13 out of 26 and they send me a text asking why I haven't started my digital monitoring...? OH, with the attachment that you never bothered to call me to pick up? Um, hello... I was waiting for a call back. If that wasn't bad enough.. They sent me a "referral" by text message to get my wisdom teeth removed.. I was very nervous to do the removal, and if my nerves weren't already firing, I found out the day of surgery that Holiday Orthodontics Pearl City never even sent a referral stating which teeth should be removed, or anything at all for that matter. Super unprofessional. Super irritating. Super offended as a customer who trusted them with my smile. I am happy with the results of my retainers, but wish I could have filled the pockets of an Orthodontist that actually cares about their patients. Now I'm stuck making installments to these guys. Speaking on the phone to Jo and Corie to make the appointment was a positive first impression. They don't realize how relieved I felt. Both were so nice, welcoming and compassionate. In fact, setting foot in the office was a good feeling. My fear seemed to have disappeared without even realizing. When I met Dr. Hiramoto, my overall well-being was his priority. He was aware of my allergic reactions and gave a brief consultation before the exam. I was greatly impressed with Dr. Hiramoto's vast knowledge and "keen insight." I liked that he looked at the overall picture instead of just my immediate issue. After the exam, he provided a solution for my situation, made a quick phone call then explained the plan to me. I knew at that moment, Dr. Hiramoto will become my new dentist. I explained his situation and asked if he could be seen at this office. OVER THE PHONE, I WAS TOLD, "YES, WE CAN." The reason why we did this emergency visit was because my son was scheduled next week with his doctor but he was sensitive to it this whole day. When we arrived, we AGAIN explained that he is autistic and nonverbal, and we were told that he could be seen. We went through the exam for ONLY his two front teeth and then waited ABOUT 15-20 minutes in the room for the doctor. Only AFTER all of that, Dr. Manon Bersier comes in and says, "Awww, we can't service him because we don't have straps. Is it hurting?" I explained that YES, it is bothering him and that because he is autistic and sensitive to things like this, he was clearly distressed. She then asked AGAIN, "But does it hurt?" MY SON IS NONVERBAL. He cannot verbally tell you, "Yes, my tooth hurts." He was crying, visibly uncomfortable, and showing signs that he was in pain. Those are the signs I have to rely on as his mother to understand what he is communicating. After all of this, we were told that they could not treat him and were essentially denied service -- BUT THEY STILL TOOK THE $79 CHARGE. So let me understand this: I called ahead, explained his disability and his needs, was told that YES, he could be seen, brought him in, explained it AGAIN when we arrived, waited, had him examined, and THEN we were told that his autism was the very reason you could not provide the service? WHY WAS THIS NOT EXPLAINED TO ME WHEN I CALLED? This was an unnecessary waste of our time and, more importantly, an extremely frustrating and upsetting experience for my son. I did my part as his mother by calling ahead and making sure you were able to accommodate him. I was given the wrong information and then still charged $79 after you were unable to provide the service. DO BETTER. Families with autistic and nonverbal children should not have to go through this after specifically calling ahead and explaining their child's needs. This felt incredibly unfair and misleading. SCAMMERS.

As soon as i walked into the office the two receptionist looked up and greeted me with a smile. They gave me paperwork to fill out. As soon as i was done, a dental assistant came out to get me. She asked questions about my permanent retainer and wanted to see it. The Doctor then came out to check it out. They gave me the price to put the retainer back in. Which was a lot however i needed to get it done so i paid for it anyways. As the dental assistant put the retainer back in, she was awesome. She explained exactly what she was about to do. Due to me having braces in High School and having a bad experience i ain't going to lie i was scared! She talked to me and made me feel a lot better when she explained everything. While not my first time here, it was my first experience with the new doctor. Everything went by…read morefast and smoothly, however when I felt like something was wrong or off, I was dismissed or they did it their way instead of really fixing it. I dont really give out reviews unless I find it necessary. That said, I only do so when it's bad service. When I told them it felt off, the doctor fixed it on the OPPOSITE side of where I told them, which wouldn't be a problem, but when they fixed it on the right side, it added up so ultimately it still had the same issue. Not only that, the person who was taking care of me [i didn't get her name] pinched my lip pretty hard between the braces wire and the brackets. When I reacted the first time, it hurt pretty bad. I was still a little worried when she did it again, because she pinched it a few times and it stung a bit while she put it on, I flinched. She seemed kind of annoyed at that. I felt uncared for and like they didn't care about my comfort and needs. Now I look at it, it's really uncomfortable to "rest" my mouth to look normal, and when I actually rest it the "build up" is what they called it, forces my mouth to look crooked due to uneven amounts on each side. It's slightly unclear in the photos, but it's more clear if I had gotten them from the same angle. Other than that normally it's better service, so hopefully it'll get better again with time with this new doctor, but I'm not a fan of it so far.
