Pros: The campsite was clean and well maintained. It was peaceful despite being very full for the holiday weekend. Lots of shade and tall pretty trees with some wild salmon berry bushes around. Most campsites are great for hanging hammocks. Most campsites accommodate two small to medium sized tents and two cars. There is a picnic table, bear box, and established fire pit with a metal grate for cooking at each campsite. It's also near a shallow river with a rocky beach that was nice to sit in. Pit toilets were relatively clean, though they ran out of toilet paper quickly. It was very easy to book online.
Cons: Potholes!!!! I'm not kidding, Tinkham road is riddled with them and it will take you a while to navigate the road to the campsite.
There is one pump for potable water (though it is yellow) and pit toilets. I don't mind primitive camping, but the cost to reserve the site was high for such minimal facilities. You're not supposed to bring in outside firewood and you can't buy firewood on site, so you have to drive down to nearby Denny Creek campsite to get it.
The highway is right near the park so there is pretty constant traffic noise. It was kind of whooshy like a white noise machine or waves.
Overall I had a good time but would probably only come back to this site if there weren't better options. read more
