No one greeted me as I walked in, I spent some time perusing the store with no one coming and asking if they could help me find something. I actually DID want the assistance. There were three attendants at the store, two men and a lady. One of the men did not even acknowledge me and he was right there at the register. The gentleman with the shaved head was the only friendly one. I want to support local businesses but with that kind of "service," I'd rather spend my money elsewhere.

But as we walked around the store, everything grabbed our attention. The curation of items was full of care. I could have taken almost anything home. The donabe cooking vessel is the central item here. I long to buy one, but since I don't know much about them, I opted for the donabe cookbook (signed!) by the owner first and a stunning mortar and pestle. The service is very Japanese: very kind and grateful. We had no problem finding parking on the street. Prices seemed reasonable for the specific items.
