Ordered soups as a first course, and they were a little too salty tasting. The server was really trying to take care of every table, but apprently too many people had came in around the same time. We felt the noise level here was too loud to enjoy a dining experience, so we decided to leave and drive to Lanie's Cafe in Loudonville. At Lanie's, the food we have ordered several different times is always good . PLUS, the ambiance is more relaxed with an acceptable noise level even during peak times. We'd like to give the new Blessings another try during non peak hours. read more

They had as a special tonight, Bolognese. When it came out, there was no meat in the dish at all. It was a bowl of Penne in sauce. I asked the waitress and said it's on the bottom and to stir it up like I hadn't done that. I stirred it in front of her to let her see and then I was told the neat is ground up fine. "You only get one chance to make a first impression." For me, this was a lackluster experience. Currently (3/28/26 - Saturday), their website lists: Easter Brunch Menu, Brunch Menu, Online Catering Orders, Catering Menu, More.... Since it is a Saturday and they opened at noon, I thought the Brunch menu was available. Nope, it wasn't. For some reason, brunch is only offered on specific days/hours and Saturday isn't one of them. It does not specify that fact anywhere on the Brunch menu. Clarity of communication is important. Lunch menu - Fig & goat cheese pinsa (a lighter style pizza). Fine print: Garlic butter, mozzarella, goat cheese, and fig jam topped with fresh arugula and balsamic glaze. Please rename the item as fig jam mozzarella pinsa; that's more in keeping with what you actually get. There was a literal sprinkle of goat cheese and while there was fresh arugula visible atop the pinsa, to my palate, it amounted to nothing. This item seems like a concoction created by accountants to minimize food costs while maximizing profitability at the cost of infuriating customers. Pluses - it is a quaint and cozily stylish establishment. It is neat and clean. The bartender who took my order was very hospitable and efficient. Despite the pluses, I think I'll pass on this place for the foreseeable future. read more

3 orders of fish and chips - 2 orders were not cooked long enough, the batter was gooey, the fries were soggy and pale, steamed by the fish placed on top of them in the kitchen. Service was pleasant but very slow. The noise level gets worse and worse as more customers arrive. Bill for 3 fish and chips ,a chicken salad, 3 glasses of wine, ribs and fried mozzarella was over $200.00 plus tip. We have been disappointed by this restaurant more than once. My family had flown in from California, and we were interested in trying Blessings Restaurant out. The server, Maddy was absolutely WONDERFUL! That's where it ended, sadly. Their female cook, (I think they referred to her as Kasey), had come out to the dining room and was very loud, belligerent, and seemed quite honestly like she was intoxicated/under the influence, we were quite shocked. She was very unprofessional; we were just embarrassed for the restaurant at that moment. The bourbon chicken skewers that came out were sooooo over cooked and terribly dried out, inedible really. Same went for the Chicken Maria, soooooooo overcooked. The fig and goat cheese Pinsa was something my family was familiar with from being on the west coast. They were horribly disappointed that there was literally a SPECK of goat cheese?? The restaurant itself is very cozy and nicely decorated. The drinks were fresh, delicious, and creative. Wonderful meal at the new Blessings Tavern. It recently re-opened under new management. My group shared the pretzels with short rib beer cheese. I had the chicken Marsala with house salad. Pretzels were crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. Chicken Marsala had great depth of flavor. House salad was fantastic. Not overly dressed, loved the addition of red peppers which you don't usually get in side salads. I'm assuming it was the owner, he was hustling! Seating guests, getting drinks, taking orders and checking in on tables. One of the most attentive restaurants I've ever been to. It was obvious they care and want every guest to have a great experience. Only thing that was a little damper on the evening was that it got quite loud in there. Nice visit to a local favorite, Blessings on Thu 5/29/25. We grabbed seats at the bar. Bartender, Jess H, took our drink orders, brought menus, and told us the specials. We had a couple of Pinot Grigios ($9) and Modelo drafts ($5.50). Dinners were a Caesar salad w/ grilled chicken ($17) & Reuben w/ FFs ($18). Both were very good, took 1/2 of salad & Reuben home. I just want to start out by saying this place is pristine, the decor is beautiful and it is so clean. The staff is incredibly friendly. The soups were good, the turkey vegetable lacked a bit of dimension and the veggies weren't as tender like when you have it cooking all day. The Cajun chowder was delicious but had a bit too much salt. Now on to the pasta, we added a chicken cutlet and boy are we glad. They are thin and delicious! The cutlet definitely elevated the dish. this was our first time at Blessings. I was impressed by how clean and fresh the building appeared We ordered mozzarella rounds and they were definitely homemade and very tasty. Came to try the soup sampler. We tried the French onion, corn chowder, and the chili. The soups didn't have much flavor and the chili tasted as if it had ground up beans as well as the whole beans (not a fan of any of them) We split the sausage burger and onion rings. I'm betwixt and between about this place but after last nights take-out meal I'm gradually leaning on the negative. I have read previous reviews and given them 3 chances and there has been issues each time. Yesterday choosing something that would stay hot during transportation I ordered chicken tenders served with marinara sauce @ $9.95. DH ordered Hero Sandwich steak with peppers, onions, and mushrooms topped with marinara and melted cheese @ $11.95. Now mind you we live about 10 minutes away. Being that it was early 5pm and thinking it wouldn't be very busy DH left early just so he would be there when the food came right out of the oven and rushed home to hopefully eat it hot. Opened up the food and there was no marinara sauce for either orders!... have you ever eaten chicken tenders without some sauce they were so dry! I ate half as I was hungry and passed on the rest. DH liked his sandwich but was very disappointed not having the marinara for his order. This happened in the past... Not so sure we will go back one problem is there aren't many take out places close by. I just might have to cook more often! read more

Stop, this place is so cute. You're going to see the regulars. You're going to see someone possibly drunk at lunch time. You're going to get great service, some decent beer, and plenty of good foods. This is a neighborhood spot, not a destination. It's honestly perfect for what it is. Friends meeting up here, couples at the bar for lunch, kids and family having lunch together. This is your neighborhood tavern and I live for this. Blessing Tavern was devastated by a horrific, sad and deadly crash a few years back. The infamous tavern was rebuilt into this beautiful little restaurant, and this was my first visit to the new digs. You can't even compare it to the old place. This is bright and warm and definitely feels like home. The mozzarella sticks are *to die for*. Seriously. I should have just ate three orders for lunch with my (several) beers. For my lunch, I decided on getting the soup sampler of all their homemade soups. I enjoyed the soups on the cold day and got a basket of fries to nosh on as well. Ordered buffalo chicken strips that are absolutely delicious. My husband ordered the fish sandwich and you can tell that it was homemade and he said it was excellent. We shared the soup flight and it was Delicious. Just another neighborhood bar and restaurant with standard pub fare. It's usually very busy so parking can be tricky. They have a decent sized lot and a few overflow spots across the street but if both of those are full there isn't anywhere else close by since it is on a busy road and the closest side street is a hike. The food isn't bad but your only options are really burgers/sandwiches, salads, apps or wings. No real dinners, pasta, or pizza. They do however have a large rotating selection of (5 or 6) homemade soups. I tried the turkey and rice. It was a little different than others and had peppers in it. Almost had a Louisiana gumbo type seasoning to it. I tried some of the French onion too. It could have been a little stronger. Last time I got wings and wasn't impressed. This time I got the chicken parm hero and my gf got the meatball hero. It came with choice of fries, mac salad, or coleslaw with the option to upgrade to fresh cut fries, sweet potato fries, Saratoga chips, or onion rings for $1 more. I opted for mac salad and it was made just the way I like it. The chicken parm appeared to be just chicken fingers with a little marinara covered in gooey melted mozzarella but it tasted good and was the perfect size. I didn't care for the meatballs tho. They tasted like plain beef mixed with an overpowering amount of oregano. Overall it's a decent option that is close by. read more

We have eaten there twice now. It is a pleasure to eat there. The atmosphere is welcoming. The service is prompt and friendly. We have had two of their pasta dishes, French dip sandwich, buffalo dip starter and meatball starter. All these choices were exceptionally tasty and served hot. Taverns, pubs, inns, etc. are the backbone of hospitality. These places provide a casual place to find a drink to wet your whistle, a solid meal to fill your belly and a homey atmosphere. As we go along in life, hubby and I are always so happy to visit local taverns and are starting to make a point of seeking such places out to visit. Blessing's is one of those spots. It has been in business for decades and we hope many more. When you walk in, you notice it is cozy and has definite neighborhood, family, place to grab a beer and watch the game, tavern vibe. Husband got the Shepherd's Pie (mmmm!) and I got the burger plate. All was tasty! Service was solid, casual, and friendly. A great tavern visit and we're off to a terrific start! read more

I once went here for lunch about 6 years ago because I had heard people say they had the best french fries in the capital district. On that trip I ordered a burger with fries and decided that there was nothing special here and made no plans to return. Well, today I tagged along with three others who planned to have dinner here after an earlier meet-up. The place is not large and had maybe four TVs showing a playoff game. They also have Quick Draw and a jukebox. I was told, this time, that they have delicious soups. The two soups that I tasted, a butternut squash and a Cuban black bean, were excellent. If I had stopped there I'm sure I would have given another star. But I decided to try another recommendation from a member of our group who was immediately recognized and welcomed by staff when we entered. The Fish Fry was pointed out as being on the daily menu board along with Meatloaf and both were recommended. The Fish Fry was possibly the worst that I've ever had. It looked like one of those frozen, pre-portioned, perfectly molded, shaped and sized pieces of fish that is heavily breaded and longer than the typical hot dog bun. The darkness of the breading should have been a hint that it was overcooked in the fryer. It was very dry. The bun was also very dry and hard as if it was already stale and had been heated to soften it. The chile sauce helped a little. The Fry came with Fries and they were still nothing special at all. Other dishes that I saw but didn't try were the meatloaf with mashed potatoes (looked quite substantial and half of it went home), some type of a wrap sandwich which looked ok, and a Chef's Salad that also looked quite large and ended up going home with the person who ordered it. Beers on tap were mostly main stream American, but they also had Bass, Saranac and Shock Top (a Belgian style distributed by Anheuser-Busch). I'm not including any pricing since I never saw the bill. There will be nine more meet-ups - I probably won't be attending them all. read more

Epic fail on all fronts.....food, service, and bar. Service....it took 15 minutes to take our order because the waitress prioritized the obvious "regulars" and bussing tables over serving us. The service remained poor throughout the meal with my table having to ask for sides that were part of the meal. Bar.......the mixed drinks were poorly crafted and the beers were dead flat. Soup.....the others at the table seemed to satisfied, but my onion soup was not properly cooked as some of the onions and croutons were crunchy. Food......i will only speak to my fish sandwich that was underwhelming. Fish was tasteless and had a weird dark black/brown breading. Fries were cold and tasteless, and coleslaw was totally bland.
