Now they come to me and say they have broken the studs on one wheel. Not gonna be able to get it done tonight. I am over an hour away from home!!! This is just unacceptable! OK, made an appointment for tires 4 days before we arrived in ton. Tires shipped from tire rack. Guy on the phone said the whole day was open, so we booked a noon appointment. 4 new tires, rotate, and balance. Since we had an appointment thought it would be 90 minutes, tops. Left and went to lunch. Can back at 2:50 and car had not been touched. Met a woman who just had to rotate her tires and she had a 1PM appointment. Talked to the front guy who works the desk (looked like a thinner Tommy Chong from the 1970's but less smart even without the drug use) who said he would check and came back saying they don't have enough staff. Wait, you booked the appointment and then find out the woman with the 1PM appointment goes before us... total incompetent shop management. Finally get finished around 4:30. I was at Tire Barn on 11/17/24, got 4 new tires and an alignment. Before I left a censor was on my dash was going off so an employee opened my hood to look and then closed the hood (or seemingly so). I was driving home and my hood flies up. This only happened because of not being put back right. This caused damage to my car. I have called, emailed and even stopped by for the General Manager, named Tim to never reach back out to me. After over an hour of waiting the Jerk at the front desk said "I can't repair the tire because it had cracks from sitting too long, the tread was too worn, and the 'plug' would not hold". Really? In the past, I have had good experiences with Tire Barn on W. 3rd St in Bloomington. However, in June 2014 I bought 4 new tires recommended by them (and the tires are appropriately from year 2014) -- Yokohama Avid Ascend -- which have had great ratings online. However, 4.5 years later (December 2018) and under 46,000 miles later, all 4 tires have dry rot. I was advised by a mechanic (doing other work on my car) about the dry rot and that I would need to replace the tires by Spring. He suggested that I go over to where I bought the tires -- Tire Barn -- to show them, which I did the same day (Dec. 28). The mileage warranty on the Avid Ascend (speed rating H) is 75,000. My odometer is at less than 88,00, so I should still have more than 29,000 miles to go. here is still plenty of tread depth. However, when I showed the representative at Tire Barn he insisted that the tires did NOT have dry rot and looked fine to him. Confused by this contradiction, I took the car to a third, unrelated mechanic. He took one look and said, like mechanic 1, that all 4 tires have dry rot and to replace them by Spring. I would NOT want to replace the Yokohama Avid Ascend with more of the same -- they do not have good traction on wet roads, and it rains quite a bit here. Moreover, I believe that this Tire Barn overcharged for the tires -- they are certainly the most expensive I have ever bought: each tire was 141.99, so 4 tires cost me 567.96. I also had to pay a tire recycling fee as well as state tax, for a total of $620.49. Four years ago I had been to the local Walmart and another store, neither of which had my tire size at the time [205/55R16]. Tire Barn was the only local store with the correct size, and they only had one other "choice" which they did not recommend at the time as being as safe. However, I feel I have not only been overcharged but now have to replace the tires much sooner than expected. I don't trust Tire Barn to provide a less expensive, better replacement, nor to prorate the price due to the early ruin of the current tires. They denied that there was anything wrong! I mostly drive in town and was commuting only 2 days a week to Columbus, IN on state road 46. The car and its tires have been maintained according to manufacturer recommendations. I have maintained the tire pressures -- difficult to do with these tires from the very start! They have always lost pressure and have needed at least 2 stems replaced within the first 2 years. So -- I am very unhappy with my experiences with Tire Barn. Yes -- I went back to them throughout with the loss of pressure problems, and now the dry rot problem (which they deny). I am particularly unhappy with the contradiction by their desk person with 2 independent mechanics -- from "all 4 have dry rot" to "none have dry rot". I will be contacting higher-level management with current close-up photos of the tires and the odometer, as well as the original sales receipt from Tire Barn and the current assessment from the independent mechanic to see if Tire Barn will help me. read more

They are not the same under the current owners. They did not tighten the wheels correctly. They put the front tires on the back and the larger tires on front. They rubbed to the point of being ruined. I spent $800 and 5% discount means 5 dollars and not 40 dollars to them. They gave me grief for correcting them on the discount and blamed me for putting the tires on the wrong places. To hide the screw up from the boss they listed it as a road hazard issue the next day. That's not to say their prices are high, they're just not the bottom-rung prices that some people demand when buying tires. Where other places seem to always be trying to put one past you, I always feel like I'm being treated fairly at Tire Barn. The staff is extremely helpful and professional, and they always work quickly. The service here is great and the guys take the time to explain things to you so you understand what is going on. I wasn't treated as if I didn't know anything, due to being female, as I have at other establishments. Prices are comparable to others in town and I believe they match prices as well. Only negative seems to be one employee, that unfortunately spends most of the time with customers, and whose customer service skills seem to be lacking. This one specific gentleman can come across as a little rude, has been heard cursing in the waiting area, and is just generally unhappy. Why would you want to fill your tires in your car with nitrogen instead of plain old ordinary everyday air? Several good reasons. First of all nitrogen is not as sensitive to temperature changes as ordinary air. So your tires will hold their pressure longer. And that's a good thing. I regularly go to this Tire Barn and receive over the top customer service every single time. Every once in a while I'll buy new tires somewhere else, and disappointment ensues. Today I learned my lesson once again. Sam's Club messed up by installing tires that were too large for my truck. Tire Barn fixed the issue, installed a leveling kit at a dirt cheap price, and fixed multiple issues on my suspension for free. They gave me a discount on alignment as well. We had an appointment at 12pm to get tires, we bought at TB, rotated. Forty-Five minutes later, the person at the desk, told us the tires are too worn to rotate and we need new tires. We went to the car, I thought he just had us set there for forty-five minutes, to tell us he wasn't going to do what he said would when we bought the tires(part of the contract). I went back inside to ask him to do what we came there for, a tire rotation. Dishonest service, Does not honor warrenty as sold. On two seperate occasions within 2 months I had flat tires covered under warrenty. The first one was void because I drove 2 blocks on a flat tire that went flat while I was driving. Two months later my tire suddenly when flat while I was driving and I IMMEDIATELY pulled over and changed the tire. Warrenty was viod because it was driven on. I asked the manager to explain what the warrenty covered since it didn't cover tire that went flat while driving and he told me the warrenty did cover it, just not in my case or cases. I asked him to explain and he basically explained my situation but I wasn't covered. He said that he fixed problems like mine everyday under warrenty, but not for me I guess. My guess is it was probably because I was at work and my wonderful girlfriend took it there and they tried to take advantage of her being a female and when she didn't back down and I called for an explaination they had already commited to the fraud and had to hold firm. We bought a tire and they rang it up with the warrenty on it. When she asked to have to warrenty removed because it obviously wasn't as advertised, they tried to explain to the benifits of the warrently and sell it to her agian! "Your previous two tires are on warrenty but not covered, so you should probably get another warrenty" should have been their line. I went to this shady place because the tires are cheap and I get a discount through work. It's not worth it. They sell cheap tires and a warrenty that sounds great until it comes into play.
