Oil Change & Tire Rotation ~ A friend recommended Tire Choice to me and I was hesitant, due to prior poor experiences. I was VERY pleased overall with my experience. I was able to get an appointment within days and Jessee, the Assistant Manager was courteous and efficient throughout the whole process. After the job was complete, I happened to learn that they were under new Management. I met Tim, the Manager and learned he had come from extensive service years with Tire Choice at another location in N.C. and hired Jessee, as well as he was also bringing experienced service technicians to this location who he had worked with before. Subsequently, I returned to see if they could insert new rubber blades in my Honda OEM wipers and Tim quickly handled that for me, while I waited. All my friends are stunned that I found someone to do that as it is very difficult, however saves a great deal of money. I went to Tire Choice hoping for a quick tire patch repair. Since there were no other customers I thought this would be quick and easy. After 2+ hours they said my truck was ready. The next morning my tire was still losing air. I decided to do the repair myself this time, but did go back to Tire Choice to request a refund. Unfortunately, the store was unable to process any refunds. After pressing to speak to someone else I was given contact info for their corporate office. Tire Choice did offer to redo the tire repair, but I obviously declined! After contacting Corporate I was asked to send video of the tire leak(I sprayed tire with Dawn dish soap and it bubbled up) along with a copy of my invoice. This was a time when I tbought it would be faster to have it done by the "expert"! Instead, I wasted time and money. If they can't fix a simple tire repair I can only imagine what would happen for a repair that is more complicated. The store looks like a make shift business and I really wish I'd followed my gut upon entering the store! Don't waste your time or money at this store! I arrived for my 730am appointment to find the manager had been fired and all but 1 staff member quit. It took 5 hours to change my tires, even though I had an appointment. They were trying their best, but, I would say stay away until they get their staffing issues under control. People were coming in and they were really upset - cars everywhere in the parking lot and no one had started work on any of those - yet they were still taking walk-ins and saying 2 - 3 hour wait. There was one person at the desk and one in the shop - both brought in by corporate and from other locations . The company handled this very poorly and should have had a plan to back fill the manager and beef up the staff in anticipation of a "walk out". Come to find out from one of the disgruntled employees packing up his things who stopped to talk to me, there were significant safety issues at this location - he suggested that I go elsewhere for my tires. That did not exactly instill any confidence - so, maybe not a bad thing they cleaned house. The best was when they sent me a survey and I mentioned all of this, gave them a 2 star rating, and they asked me to call their customer service line, which I did, and was on hold for 45 minutes and no one ever picked up. Just stopped by because there's a nail in my tire and it's not holding air at all. As soon as I fill it up, it empties back below 15psi (on a Chevy Tahoe) almost immediately. Lady at the desk told me they were booked until Weds (which is fair being that Monday is New Years) and that no one else on the island is open today. I told her that I'm from out of town and asked what I should do. She suggested that I drive to Currituck or Elizabeth City on a flat tire. This would've been a 15 min job tops and I would've been happy to pay extra for squeezing me in so that I could safely get home on Monday (3 hour drive). I get that it's Saturday and they have full appointments, but come on... telling a visitor that there's nothing she can do and that I need to fend for myself with a flat tire? TC refused to help me out told me they were to busy and it wasn't there problem. What are we talking about...20 mins to replace one tire. Literally every tire place at the Outer Banks told me the exact same thing. It's clear these place don't care for tourists. I chose TC and Pugh to write the review about as they were the rudest. I had to have the car towed back to Raleigh and then had to drive back to get my family/stuff. I won't step foot on the Outer Banks again. We blew out a tire on vacation and were panicked about getting it fixed or replaced in time to head home the following day. We called around opening time (7:30am) and they were able to fit us in for 3pm. Diana was great- She took a look at all of the tires, not just the flat one, and even took the time to walk us out to the car and show us her concerns about the other three. As it turned out, we were close to blowing out the rest of our tires too. She quoted us for one tire vs four (and the per-tire cost was very reasonable) and left it up to us to decide how we wanted to proceed. She didn't pressure us into buying four (although that is what we decided to do, after Diana walked us through her concerns and the quote), which was great. She even recommended a few spots in walking distance if we wanted to wait elsewhere while they installed the tires and did the alignment. We were in and out in just about 60 mins! I went to Tire Choice in Kill Devil Hills, NC. They said it needed tires, shocks and struts, they said they'd apply a $100 coupon so I said OK to the price. I said OK and they put on new tires. They replaced the tires and after keeping the car a few days, called and said they don't do alignment anymore and can't fix the car! Then called for us to pick the car up. Now my brand-new expensive Michelins are compromised from driving on them with a bad suspension. When I picked up the car I asked if he gave me the $100 off the tires. He acknowledged promising the $100 off, but charged me full price for the tires, and refused to give me any refund! He told me to call 800 297 9886 and I did. I've been on hold for over an hour and counting. I am very disappointed that Tire Choice took advantage of my trust and since my wife picked up the car and did not check on the discount, we were overcharged $100. I understand form talking to other nearby shops that they do not have any technicians and my experience is not uncommon. read more

Diana at the front desk is knowledgeable, efficient, friendly (even though the tough facade) and her team in the garage got me back on the road in less than 24hrs. Toyota Venza alternator went bad - 164000 miles, called and Diana told me to bring it in right away, luckily I was able to run it down, I was renting from NJ in Duck, I left the car and she called me within a few hours with the problem, I authorized the repair and it was done by lunchtime the next day. Scheduled an appointment 4 days in advanced to dismount 2 tires, very simple job that shouldn't take more than 30 minutes at the absolute most. Dropped them off 12 pm the day of, I came at 4 because I got off work a bit early, tried to call on the way there to let them know I was on the way and got no answer. Got there and my tires had not been touched, sat to wait for about 30 minutes, and in that time I watched every tech pack up and leave. We've been coming down to the OBX for 6 years now, same two weeks every year. You do that enough times, you're going to need some sort of tire repair/replacement. So I ran over a screw in one tire and had the air valve leaking in another. The Tire Choice in Kill Devil Hills was amazing. This is a long story but worth the read. My car broke down on Saturday September 3rd and I had the tow truck drop it off at tire choice around 10:30 am (tow man recommended them to me). I told them I thought it could be alternator because I've had the alternator break before and it seemed similar. They told me they probably couldn't get it done until Tuesday because it's Labor Day which I totally understood. I asked them if they could just look at it Saturday incase it's something small because I have to get back to wilmington tonight. They said there was no way they could look at it today. As I was a little frustrated I understand that these days everyone's under staffed and it was a holiday weekend. My brother went out of his way to drive me back to Wilmington before he drove back to Virginia since we both had work. Two days later I call tire choice and ask them if they have gotten a chance to look at my car. They told me "oh there's nothing wrong with your car it started perfectly fine!" I made sure they went and checked and I even asked them if they test drove it which they said they did. I was shocked that my car "worked perfectly fine" after it completely broke down on the side of the road and would not start again. This afternoon when my roommate got out of class she was generous enough to drive me four hours from wilmington to pick up my car which the tire choice said had nothing wrong with it! No problem we'll drive it back and it'll be fine. Nope. (the mechanic also told me when I picked my car up that he "thinks" the mechanic test drove my car" he thinks??) I got 5 minutes down Croatan HWY and my car started smoking and temp gauge was all the way hot. I pulled into an auto zone and called tire choice. The mechanic told me "well we were told it was coming in for an alternator/ starter so we didn't look at the coolant system". Yes I did tell them when the car was brought it that it could be an alternator but then again I am not the mechanic. Isn't that the mechanics job to tell me what's wrong with my car? I have no idea what it was but I just know that it broke down and they told me nothing was wrong with it. The nice man Derrick at auto zone looked at my car for me and the lower radiator hose had a hole in it and my coolant reservoir was completely empty. We filled the car with coolant and the car wouldn't start and was spewing coolant everywhere from the hole. Derrick thinks maybe a gasket was blown as well. There obviously was a bigger problem here that the tire choice would've noticed if they even bothered to start / test drive my car. It's scary to think that the people I'm supposed to trust with my car didn't care to ensure my vehicle was safe to drive back over the bridges leaving the island, all the way back to wilmington. I've had a lot of car troubles over the year, and dealt with a lot of mechanics looking to scam the young girl out of some money, but I have never had a mechanic who completely neglected the fact that my car had a problem and sent me off in a car that barely runs and didn't even get five minutes down the road without breaking down again. Please be careful if you ever have to take your vehicle here or completely avoid it if you can. read more

Today had 730-11 appt and when I called at noon, I was told they had some hiccups and were behind. At 3 PM, I went up there and they hadn't even looked at the vehicle. Seriously? Why do you let us think we might get our vehicles serviced timely when you have no intention of doing that. Was told they had too many "waiters" today and that was the hiccup. I worked in retail for forty years before retiring. Am familiar with hiccups. Am not familiar with the complete lack of customer service offered at Tire Choice. Pick up the phone and alert people when you're not going to honor your commitments. Give people a chance to be understanding. Don't ignore them and hope they won't be mad. The purchase of two tires and mount and balance was uneventful for the most part. All the drama happened two days later when I back to see if this store would honor their 30 price guarantee. Two Cooper Endeavors tires mounted and balanced cost $444 out the door at this location. A few blocks down the road Coastal Tire and Lube quoted me the exact same tires for $358 out the door. Pugh's Car Care had them listed for $326 and Seto's Towing had them for $330. After presenting this to lady at the counter she acted like it didn't matter. She was quite dismissive and didn't want to take any of the quotes I offered her. It wasn't until I asked for her card and the corporate number that she begrudgingly took the higher of the quotes. Tire Choice is the only place in the local area open on a Saturday so they tend to take advantage of the lack of competition. They sure didn't live up to their motto of a "Better Experience". I left feeling that this not the first time that a tourist or Veterans has been treated this way at this establishment. read more

Came here after the husband hit a pothole on 158 that damaged the side wall of his front tire. Called around to a few places but this was the only place that had the tire we needed in stock. Service was super quick- we were quoted an hour but the car was done in 20 minutes. They didn't try to upsell us on anything. The 2018 Jeep was serviced just before we drove from SC to the OBX. No mention was made about the tires. We have the multi point service report. I did my own preflight inspection before we left, and the tires were fine. Nowhere close to the tread wear marker. I called and expressed my utter disbelief that they ripped her off. The manager said things like, "we can't repair tires that are worn below the tread wear marker." True, but her tires were not below the tread wear marker. She said, "She authorized us to put the tires on." True, because they lied and told her her tires were unserviceable, and they would not repair the tire. Then, they charged her for a mount, balance, road warranty at $119.00. Did I say we don't live here? She told them no when they asked if she wanted the road hazard, and they put it on there anyway. They set me up for an appointment to put new wheels on my tires on a Saturday only for their crew to be elderly and not able to handle it. I went back the following week and they told me an hour, it took almost 3. They ruined my (basically new) rims with scratches and gouges. When I emailed them I never heard back. I had to contact their parent company in Florida and then their insurance company who compensated me for the damages. We made an appointment online Friday evening for Saturday 9/29/18 at 8:30 am when we found cracks in one of the tires. We wanted to replace all 4 tires. We showed up on time for the appointment. We stood at the counter for about 20 minutes while the store manager answered the phones and made appointments for other people on the phone. When the phone stopped ringing, he finally looked in the computer for our appointment. We were told we did not have an appointment and there was nothing he could do to help us so we left. I got one of those $19.99 oil change plus coupons in the mail so I decided to use it. The spouse took the car in there. They talked him into getting the high mileage oil which was more expensive. No big deal. It says add $17 for different oil. They charged me labor to put the oil filter on but nothing else. I thought that was weird. But still no big deal. It all adds up. They put too much oil in my car. When I got home and checked it like I always do because I usually change my own oil, they had overfilled the Max line by a additional quart of oil. Turns out they listed the wrong engine, put to much oil in because it is a 2.5 L and not a 3.0 L. They should be double checking this. How many spouses bring their car in that don't know anything about engines? And it says the specification right on top of the engine! Double check tread quarters employees. Jeez! I called them and told them about all this. They did offer for me to bring the car back and then they could let out some of the oil. They did not mention anything about a refund for the extra oil that should not have been put in there. So my bill ended up being over $45. When it should only have been $19.99. read more

They refused to do it. It would have taken 5 minutes but they said they didn't have the time. Because of this We couldn't use our insurance coverage and get reimbursed later. I think it was Dianna), was fantastic. She recommended an economy tire, since it was a rental. As I sat in their waiting room while they changed my tire, I saw her deal with other customers.
