I was on vacation last week and got a flat tire on my rental car. Rental place told me to get a new tire and they would reimburse me for it. I brought it to TireChoice and couldn't be more pleased with their service! The woman that helped me (she said she was the manager, but I'm not sure of her name. I think it was Dianna), was fantastic. She recommended an economy tire, since it was a rental. As I sat in their waiting room while they changed my tire, I saw her deal with other customers. She was friendly, knowledgable, and even joked around with everyone. I just wish I lived closer so I could use them for my other car needs! Very pleased with my experience! read more

I will NEVER EVER EVER take any of my vehicles to this establishment. The mechanics NEVER put floor mats in the car, they don't clean their hands and don't cover the seats. They leave grease all over the door, steering wheel, car seat and floor mats. I have complained about this before and they quickly half ass clean the grease. Today, I brought in BOTH my cars for an oil change and again the car was left filthy with grease. I immediately went inside to complain and the mechanic had the nerve to say "go somewhere else"... You damn right I will. I will NEVER EVER bring any of my vehicles to them nor will i recommend them. Bad for business. read more

Had flat tire on Saturday afternoon, and limited places open. Called here and they had two tires but compressor was out- waiting on repair- then they were closing for the weekend, even though hours online said open Sunday! So hubby made appointment for Monday at 10:30. Monday called to be sure still had tires, and confirmed appointment. Hubby showed up at 10:15 and was told 60 to 90 minutes to put two new tires on. Person at desk tried to quote MORE for cost of tires, but called him out to honor prices quoted or leaving- same thing that had happened to us before and reason we stopped using this location. After one hour car still in parking lot, only two people working and one of them spending more time inside then at bay working on vehicles! Not sure what he was doing but more time outside would help with short staffing. Now we are stuck, either wait until "looky Lou" can get car in, or start all over again tomorrow with reputable tire dealer. It's a shame that this location continues to do this, when we have been to two other locations in Virginia for tires and never a problem. NEVER again, and I will be sure to report to corporate as well. This is ridiculous as we need to leave town and can't because of tire and now TQ holding us up! read more

TIRECHOICE KDH, NC - DO NOT USE THIS SHOP - THEY WILL PRETEND TO REPLACE PARTS. Took two of my trucks in on a Thursday and Friday. Asked for both to have new tensioners replaced. NEITHER TRUCK HAD THEM REPLACED and then they charged us again for the one truck to fix and the other is still squealing. I ASKED FOR A REFUND they will not give a refund unless I take it to another mechanic who says it is wrong. WELL THE SHOP ADMITTED IT WAS NOT REPLACED, AND FAULSLY REPLACED THE SECOND ONE. DO NOT GO HERE. Been coming here 7 years, cannot believe this is happening. they have $900 they will not refund. And I do not want them working on our trucks, and there is no way to have a mechanic prove what they already admitted to not replacing, and having pictures of the second one they replaced twice blaming our belt. The absolute most rude General Manager I have ever dealt with. After buying several high-dollar sets of tires here over the years, I simply will not ever spend money here again. Ryan - the general manager needs a serious lesson in how to treat customers. I bought the road hazzard warranty when I bought my Yokohamas here 2 months ago. I had an issue on Saturday night. Monday I made an appointment for Tuesday at 12:30 to get the tire replaced. I arrived and was told it would take 2 hours to get to me AND they told me they could not put my new tire back on my car. I said surely we can put one tire on my car after putting it on the rim. The salesman said to talk to the General Manager. I nicely asked the General Manager RYAN if they could put my tire on my car. He turned into an absolute A-hole asking if I expected him to do what his salesman had just told me couldn't be done. Trying to reason with him was a worthless effort. He wouldn't listen to anything. He was just an a#@hole. I will not ever give money to people who treat customers like this. This is simple. I wasn't spending new money there and so they treated me like crap. I won't ever be spending ANYMORE money there. Avoid this location like the plague. read more

We are from PA and were at Corolla on vacation when we had a tire problem. It was late Friday. There is no car repair in Corolla. One man I reached by phone said that he couldn't help but said that Tread Quarters is the place to go. I called and learned Saturday hours and was there by about 9 AM. I was informed that because of other work and a shortage of workers it would take about an hour. We were told of a restaurant up the street so my wife and I went there and had a good breakfast. Daughter joined us for vacation in OBX, and i noticed her front tires were balding and rear tires were low on tread. After having no luck finding 4 tires in stock at big box stores, i reached out to Tire Choice. I dealt with Alan over the phone, and he quickly found suitable tires for my daughter's SUV - and more importantly, he had them in stock and could start on it the same day (and they were reasonably priced!). Alan also provided me with very competitive pricing for an alignment and synthetic oil change - and was able to get those items done quickly, as well. Further, Alan noticed my daughter's wipers had partially disintegrated. i picked up a pair of wipers, and Alan was kind enough to install them for her. This was a five star experience! Sooo I just got done pricing tires at tread quarters in KDH I was dealing with a nice 20 yr old who was helpful enough despite the 1000 dollar bill for 4 tires rotated balanced, however there was also a middle aged est. 40 year old roundish, sandy Blonde increadibly rude woman who that decided right as I turned around to look at some tires was the perfect time to whisper to her colleague the tire Gandolf and then both snicker and giggle now I explained to her that that was bad customer service but for the most part It was a horrible experience and I would not suggest to anyones read more

Today was my first experience with the KDH Tread Quarters. First of all, let me begin by saying that Diane is outstanding. Amidst all the chaos of operating an essential business in these trying times, she efficiently and professionally handled the entire experience from beginning to end. She took the extra time to explain the differences between the various price points of tires they offer and helped me make the best decision in order to get the most for my money. Diane was always courteous and promptly ordered the tires I needed. She called me as soon as they came in and scheduled an appointment for installation. When I arrived, she recognized me and notified the fellas in the shop that I had arrived and they began work immediately. They were all very aware of today's social distancing concerns and made me feel very comfortable and appreciated as a customer. We traveled to Corolla NC for a family beach trip from Atlanta, about 12 hours from home (with the normal traffic you see at the Outer Banks). We arrived at our house on Saturday and on Sunday I went to leave to go grocery shopping. I noticed that my drivers side tire was completely deflated. I located this service center online and decided to make an appointment. They were very friendly but advised they didn't have an open appointment until that Friday, which was the day before we were scheduled to leave to come home. I made the appointment after confirming they had a tire available. My husband was able to get the spare on and I drove about 45 minutes to my morning appointment. They had told me it would take about an hour to either patch it or replace the tire once they inspected the tire which had a nail in in. Once I arrived, they were just as friendly and professional as they had been on the phone and I waited patiently in their waiting area. After only about 30 minutes, I see them drive my car back from the garage area and they told me I was ready! They were able to successfully patch the tire!! I am so thankful I found this shop because I was worried about our trip home from the moment the week started when I noticed the flat. They could have easily charged us for a new tire, but were super honest in being able to just patch the tire we had which was of course, much cheaper. I would definitely recommend this place whether you are a local or a vacationer! We made it home safely with no issues! Thank you!! read more

This is a long story but...Horrible, horrible, nasty mouthed manager "Ryan Seavey" not only talked over his employees but was talking about "Yankees" coming from out of town to his town and always complaining and throwing their trash everywhere, said it to more than two customers while I was in there. (I am a local but he didn't know that). I ordered a tire last Monday, got a call that it was there Friday, went in at 7:30 this morning with the tire in my truck NOT on a vehicle so to make it easier to mount, the gentleman behind the desk was amazing and trying to multi-task the phones and customers (Said the guy that was suppose to be there was late), 8:30 here comes the so called "Manager, Ryan", he was very unprofessional, loud and obnoxious, right off started talking about the person he had a confrontation with last night to the other employee. Anyway, my tire wasn't ready so I told the gentleman I would be back in a bit to pick it up, I understood they were busy and I didn't have an appointment but he was fitting me in. I came back in at 11:30ish...Another gentleman that was working behind the counter (Very friendly, I would of thought he was the manager, he should of been) checked and said they were mounting my new tire on the rim and it won't be long. Then here comes "Mr So-Called Manager Ryan"...He asks if I needed help, I said no sir, they are actually mounting my tire now...He said, no, it's probably going to be a while. I said, he just told me they were doing it and it won't be long. (I already saw they were working on it, so I knew it wouldn't be too long). He immediately raised his voice and said...Did you have an appointment? I said, I didn't but was here at 7:30 and knew I had to come back. After he yells at me in front of other customers and employees I am definitely upset and a bit embarrassed. He calls me a fu**ing witch and the poor lady beside me got upset as well at that comment he made and said she had been waiting a while also. At that point, I told him he was extremely unprofessional, he then screamed and told me to GET OUT OF his store and again started talking about the "Yankees" causing issues in his town, directing it to me. (Again, I am a local), regardless that was very rude of him. At this point I did call him a jackass and said I will be calling corporate about his behavior. He then came back in and told me my tire was ready, I said, I need to pay for it, he said...Nope, I'm not selling it to you and that I could also load it myself...Which was fine, I had unloaded it myself anyway. When going to load it, not only did a customer come over to me and said to please make sure I called and reported him and they were also calling to report him BUT...Also three of his own employees asked me to make sure I called and reported him. I asked if he talked like that to them and they said yes but if we say anything back he will fire us immediately!!! Seriously...Who does this man think he is?????? We have dealt with Tread Quarters for years and NEVER had an issue. Called the store in MANTEO and Diana was very helpful with getting a new tire when I needed it. I have already called twice and left a message with you Teresa, please call me back. I don't need a reply on here because all the reply's I looked at seem the same, like a generated message. I just want this man dealt with. He is going to destroy any good that this store does have left. read more

This place literally saved me. Me and my family were in town just for the day, about 2hrs from home. Earlier I had a bad tire leak that you could hear and couldnt get 1 lug nut off to install the spare because the tip was rounded off probable during a recent state inspection and the factory tire iron only sits on the end. After going to Pughs car center and not getting any help at all. I finally get to Tread Quarters pumping up tire all the way. It's right at 5pm on a friday and all the workers were gone but the manager Brian was able to get it off and even put my spare on for me. Without going there I would have had to get a tow 2hrs and with 2 adults and a kid in a car seat I dont think the tow truck would have worked out very well. read more

Very Disappointed AGAIN today with my NO-Customer Service at your Kill Devil Hills, NC location. I have been a customer for many years at this location even before you bought out the previous Colony Tire operation. I currently have 3 vehicles that I have serived at your shop. The last several times I have been there, the service hasn't been acceptable and I will think very hard before returning. In the past, I have been overcharged several times, item not fixed as promised and rude employees. The last time I took my vehicle in, one of the items on the list was to remove a nail and patch a tire. When I picked up the car, the nail was still there with no mention of the job not being completed. Today, I returned the car to get the tire fixed as well as replacing some (hard to find) fuse(s). I was told it would be ready in a few hours which was ok with me. When I showed the clerk my coupon that you offer online for a free tire repair, he gave me a smart $$$ look and said it would be the end of the day. I was also going to get an oil change, but after the attitude, I decided to just move on. As a businessman myself, I understand that you have to make a profit, but if you do not want to honor your coupons, or are going to do so reluctantly, do not offer them. Well, it is now another day, and I still haven't heard anything about my vehicle being ready yet. I have spent lots of money with you over the years, but always feel like I am getting ripped off and treated by indifferent employees and may be seriously looking for a more customer friendly shop in the future. read more

These guys are solid. Been going here since 2005. Yes they are very busy certain times of the year, and yes sometimes the wait is long, but so is everyone else. A big plus is they do not push unnecessary work and they try to get you the best value for your money. Not sure what these other reviewers are complaining about. Where do I start, Dropped car off the night before an appointment the next day for oil change. The service tech was leaving for the day so he showed me the drop slot for my keys. My appt was for !0 am the next morning, called at 1:30 to check on car, the very same tech that showed me where to drop the keys tells me he doesn't know anything about it but they will "get right on it" .......you would have thought if the 10 am appointment didn't show, a phone call to the customer would have been nice. Mother-in-law took her car in for tire rotation and balancing. The next day I noticed her right front tire was almost flat. When I went to put air in the tire, couldn't find the valve stem. It was bent up inside the wheel cover and cracked, not in the slot for the valve stem. When checking, ALL 4 valve stems were stuck up in the wheel covers! I took the car back and had them replace all 4 valve stems. Several days later my wife tells me her moms car steering wheel shakes when driving down the road, so I drive it and immediately can tell the tires are out of balance. Take it back and asked if the tires were spin balanced and was told,by the same service tech in the first paragraph, that they don't spin balance tires any more, there is a new way of balancing tires.....couldn't explain it so I talked with another service tech (Thomas), he put the car in the bay and had the tires spin balanced.....guess what, no more shaking steering wheel. So she paid for a tire balancing that wasn't done, they probably thought, she's an older lady, she won't know the difference....... My son's car had a flat and of course it can't be fixed but he has a couple tires from a brand that is being discontinued,for $42 each. Since my son needed another tire, for that price put both of them on, $84.00. When I go to pay the bill is $168.25 !! So I ask what are the other charges? $30 per tire for mounting and balancing !! The website for purchasing tires clearly says, mounting, valve stems, etc. $19.99 per tire. I had called the other Tread Quarters in the next town and a competitor and ask what they charge for mounting and balancing tires purchased from them..$20.00 ! So I ask the service tech why the difference in price at the other Tread Quarters? He tells me that there are different "levels" of tire mounting, really? didn't even try to explain it. I am a mechanic for the State of NC, so I know a little bit about cars & trucks.....I know of only one way to mount and balance a tire. The worst part is that he didn't even offer any solution and no where on the price board behind the counter was a price for tire mounting posted, I guess he just gets to charge what he feels like. I have lived here for 35 years, know alot of people, will not refer them to Tread Quarters unless they talk to Thomas, he will take care of you. As I was leaving I noticed all the shop by doors open and only one car being worked and no mechanics in sight.....word is, they can't keep good mechanics. read more

They patched my tire, and had me on my way in less than 20 minutes. They charged me less than the tow truck driver did to change my flat!!! They were so nice and helpful! They totally saved me!! I needed to leave for a long road trip when I was pulled over for expired registration ! Oops the form was sitting on my desk and I buried it with other papers. I needed an inspection in order to get the registration renewed. I was in a time crunch and needed it NOW. I called at least six places and could not get any help from anyone, all had the typical OBX excuses. its lunch time , its too sunny, too warm what ever apathetic excuse they could come up with. The guys at Tread Quarters were booked solid but told us they'd squeeze us in. After a short wait they inspected they car , repaired the emergency brake as needed to pass and got me on my way. These guys have a rep among OBX locals as being predatory when it comes to tourists, our wives or our moms going in for service. My personal experience was horrible. I bought 4 tires and needed a state inspection. The wiper blades were new. The guy came back and told me I needed wiper blades and they wanted to tack another 25 for that on top of the 600 I was already paying that day. I said, you're kidding, right? Show me the worn out blades. Anyway, they called the manager over, and that guy had the nerve to tell me, "If the state police pulls you over with bad wiper blades, you can be arrested." I almost laughed, then contacted their VP and told him I was going to make sure I told everyone I know the story about how they were telling people they can be arrested for not buying their wiper blades. read more

The oil was everywhere and they actually accused me of leaving the top off!! How preposterous!! They did not apologize to me and they did not clean up the oil! Stay away!! Had to get a flat changed this past weekend. Tried to charge me $300. When I balked at the price, they found a different tire for $200. They called Monday to let me know the tire was ready. I drove on my donut to get the tire, and after paying them, they wheeled the new tire out to my car. At this point, I was expecting them to mount the tire (I've NEVER had a tire done and been expected to mount it myself), and when I asked, I was told, "nah, we sent our techs home for the day because it's hot. Pop your trunk. You can come back tomorrow and we will take care of it." I told them I didn't feel comfortable continuing to drive on a donut and I was told, "ok have a good afternoon." And he walked inside. I'm a 5'3 110 lb female. I can change a tire, but it seems a little ridiculous that I should be expected to after paying a shop $200, and when the equipment to change the tire is sitting ten feet away behind a closed bay door. After getting my jack and tire iron out, a different employee ended up helping me, but the whole situation was ridiculous. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I should have not been surprised at the total lack of customer care based on the reviews, feedback from friends, and my last $600 crap experience at this location however on a Saturday morning at 830am I get a nail in my tire. Leaks flat in 15 minutes. I arrive for a repair and I'm told at 830am they cannot help me because of no appointment even though they are open til 5pm. I offer to wait the 8.5 hours to be last after the appointments are done. I was told no way. By now tire is almost flat again so I ask can I use air to pump up tire to seek help somewhere else...denied!! Grumpy 80 year old mechanic bitched me out for asking to use the air compressor! I drive quick to circle k to get air. I finally find a repair in Manteo from a local guy who stayed 20 minutes past his noon close time to help me. TQ I will make it my mission to tell everyone to stay away from your rude, no care, nasty eye rolling staff and business. I am a local not some tourist that you never see again. I'm waiting on my car now and everything seems great. The people at the desk were very friendly and knowledgeable. There was a question about if I needed an emissions inspection, I didn't, but they called the DMV and made sure instead of arguing with me or trying to get me to drive 3 hours for something I didn't need. I made an appointment so there was hardly any wait time for them to start on my car. Much better experience than the folks at Soundside. read more

Terrible and not professional. Put 4 new tires on my sister's car and 2 of them weren't tightened properly. I was able to take the lug nuts off by hand. I went back to complain and the 'manager' was rude and refused to take responsibility for inept installer. Argued and got no satisfaction from the store. This terrible installer and his manager could have caused a bad accident and did nothing! I have heard similar complaints at their Manteo location. Never again! read more

Make sure that you inspect the work that you have requested to be done before paying your bill. I have become very skeptical of the work done by Tread Quarters since they rotated my tires and torqued them so hard that they broke two studs that had to be replaced. That was earlier in the Spring. I have done business with this shop many years ( originally Colony Tire). I stopped service with Tread. Quarters briefly but because of the convenience of being able to walk to and from the business I decided to give them a second chance. Saturday I took my vehicle in for a routine oil change and tire rotation. Being a bit of a skeptic I marked the tires to be rotated. When I picked up the vehicle I noticed that they were not rotated so I questioned the Jim, the manager. I was agitated .He got defensive and showed me the paperwork that indeed they had been rotated ..The paperwork was even marked as being torqued to 80 lbs. The mechanic who did the oil change and " tire rotation"denied the accusation to Jim the manager despite the fact that I showed him the proof of the marked tires. He rotated them and I was it charged for the oil change or rotation I was willing to pay and was more concerned about a breach in my trust of them. I accepted the manager's apology but I will no longer be using their service. I feel that it is necessary to share this with other locals (and Corporate Tread Quarters) who want to support our local businesses which are by and large wonderful. read more
