Buyer Beware 4/3/26 'Services Not Rendered' issue at the Monticello store. I was charged for an alignment, but the shop did not provide a printout. I was there for a total of 19 minutes from pulling into the parking space to leaving. I was also charged for tire rotation. I definitely thought that was strange to have those services completed within 15 minutes. That was on a Friday. I did not like the noise I was hearing from my car and took it to my mechanic to be inspected on Monday. This mechanic was the one that showed me the tie rods had absolutely not been disturbed and I took photos of the tie rod adjustment nuts. They are covered in heavy, undisturbed road grime and rust, proving no tools were used to adjust them. Not only is there no tool marks on my tie rods, but my mechanic also confirmed I had a bad front ball joint. The Monticello shop charged me for an alignment that is technically impossible to perform correctly with a failed suspension component. They failed to catch this during a standard pre-alignment inspection and charged me for a service they knew (or should have known) couldn't be completed. When I went back for a refund, I asked for the print out and Jay told me their machine does not save the information and they only give print outs 'upon request' the day of service. He also tried to convince me that the nut was moved ever so slightly in my photo evidence, come on! He asked if I wanted the refund or for them to do the alignment, now that I had the ball joint replaced by a professional. I told him there is no way I would ever hand my keys over to anyone in that shop, especially after finally reading the reviews. I only wish I read these reviews before going in the first place. So I did get the refund for the "ghost alignment", but I don't believe they did the tire rotation either. Since it's hard to prove they didn't do the rotation (I will definitely mark my tires before any rotation in the future) they would not honor a FULL refund, only the ghost alignment. It's very disturbing that a so-called reputable establishment allowed me to drive that car out of there under false pretense and no warning about the broken ball joint. I'm still undecided if I should report this to Sullivan County Weights and Measures as well as DMV Consumers and Facilities. read more

If you were going to a mechanic shop to get your brakes fixed, how would you feel if, as the mechanic is saying the car isn't ready yet, you find out from your dash cam he was driving it around and making his own personal taxi trips, dropping people off, using up gas, not putting it back, meanwhile gas has skyrocketed, and not even calling you, letting you know that he will be driving out the car to bring people home? I paid over $700 for this service and the hourly rate. I mean, it's one thing to test it to make sure everything is working, but to bring random strangers in my car, dropping them to their homes, and me getting my car back with less than a half tank of gas is crazy. When I go back to this business to speak with the owner, he is dead silent, doesn't even respond to me as I am explaining the situation, then as I am explaining to the owner, the mechanic comes over and just throws $20 at me; he doesn't even try to hand it to me. At any moment he could have crashed my vehicle or these strangers could have stolen things from my vehicle. If i didn't have a dash cam to know who was driving in my car, would you have told me the truth? I have been coming here for years but after this lack of accountability and blatant disrespect I will never return and make sure nobody else I know comes here either. read more

Had brakes done. Next day while driving on highway,noticed front tires making a noisy vibrating sound,stopped at a rest area,, called and told them about it. Was Told to check tires,lug nuts ?Did that and found they were Loose! And not just few turns,but alot. Called back,technician said- "oh maybe potholes caused it bc we use a torque gun to tighten cant be loose" Well,since that call,been over a month since i tightened them myself so i could drive home,ive hit a few potholes(new york after all) and nothing!! lug ,nuts are still tight! Need a job that doesn't care about their customers safety or vehicle? Look no further! Here at tire discount you don't need to be a mechanic or have any knowledge of vehicle maintenance, they will break your hub assembly and tell you "it happens" or that you don't need a tire alignment (because their lazy) gotta love the places in Sul.Co that I get my vehicle "taken care of". I now go to local junkyards that establish customer relations and do a job 10x better than any kid at Tire Discount. I definitely do not recommend this business as there's been multiple times I've tried to bring my car to them to get tires looked at or an alignment or to get new tires and every time I've arrived there after making an appointment it's always some excuse and or it's not a good day. Was even told over the phone to bring my car in any day to get my brand new tires looked at that have been leaking air and when I arrive and told that Fridays are not a good day so you probably shouldn't tell people to bring something in any day if there's a day that doesn't actually work for you as that was a major inconvenience for me as I've had to take time off of work multiple times to try and go to these people for Help. I'd give zero stars if that was an option. Was an embarrassment of a business. Don't waste your time. They have a terrible attitude and their customer service is disgusting. read more

Most amazing tire store. We were visiting the area this week. Was in a rental mini-van. We got in the car on Wednesday morning and noticed that tire pressure came up and said that one of the tires was 30 pounds. We drove down there and Anthony, one of the employees, helped us. Said that there was a nail. He patched/pulled the tire while we stayed in the car. They didn't charge, but we gave him a tip. So helpful and accommodating. I went in first thing in the morning on a weekday for a tire with a slow leak. They saw me immediately and found the issue within a matter of minutes. They plugged it, explained what was causing the leak all within 20 minutes. They did not charge me for the plug even though I insisted on it. This was the third shop I saw in the area for this issue. The other two were big chains ran literally by teenagers. These guys were able to find the issue so they have my confidence in their skillet. read more

be careful with these folks when you call for an estimate. They give you the tire price. But they don't give you the price of installation and tax. So you want to ask that question when you're calling for an estimate on tires. read more

Regarding the company's reply to my review: I sent an email to that address the day after it happened, on Sat 2/24, (since your company is closed on weekends), expressing the issue. I also sent another email on this past Thursday (3/1), after viewing your message, and as requested. To date - no response, whatsoever, to either email. I find it hard to believe a sincerely concerned organization would require more than 9 days to reply to a potentially catastrophic error, and especially after requesting my email. read more

I've done business here several times over the past years. Their work was always appropriate and efficient. They could take a stab at a smile once in a while, but not a huge issue: I go to buy tires, not look for bedside manner. Which is good, because not one of them has any to give. But now I'm done with them. On Friday morning I called to see if they might carry the size tire I need for my car. No answer, so I went online at a well-constructed website. Lots of prompts to leave a message and be contacted back within 24 hours. Well, they were closed Saturday (Why? How much weekend work are they losing?) and Sunday. Irritated, I tried the same thing for their sister shop in Middletown. Left a message for them online, too, for a call-back for an appointment on Monday or Tuesday. Neither Tire Discount shop returned my call by end of day on Friday (I called in the early morning). I had no choice but to wait for Monday. Monday has come, and it's now 30 hours later even in business days, and still no call back. So be it. I called a competitor this morning, got an immediate price quote including installation and an appointment. Job done. Guess where I'm NOT going from now on! read more

I gave two stars because they were courteous, however the tire they put on went flat within an hour of my leaving their site. There was no puncture and the valve was loose. I brought the car to my mechanic who said another tire was almost bald that they completely missed. read more

Refused to service my vehicle. Told me it was their policy that unless you bought brand new tires from THEM they do not service tire mounting. Knowing they are the only tire place in town. It's always a scam or a catch that comes along with this place. These people are the reason mechanics are not trusted. read more

I have been dealing with tire discount off an on for at least 20 years. They have always been a wealth of information, to the point where they have steered me away from more expensive tires tell me I did not have to spend that much. They have always been nice, friendly and easy to work with. If they did not have the tire in stock that I wanted or needed, they got on the phone and either found them at their other shops or ordered them and were in a few days. I spent my youth repairing British and European cars from MGB's to Porche, Mercedes, Lotus, and man, many more. I find that the wrenches that work there have for the most part been there forever. That indicates to me that they are both knowledgeable about their work( if not they would have been terminated) and happy with the employer. Happy employees do a good job. I should know I have employed over 25 people at a time. I have never had an issue with any work they have performed. They have also repair flats for free on tires I did not buy from them. I feel that says something about their commitment to service. I have no idea what happened with the one bad review, but something seems fishy, He checked the wheel to see if it was loose. He says it did not move, with the minimum of a 1/4 of the car's weight on the wheel it won't move very much. Not till he got home and pulled the wheel cover off did he notice the bolts were gone. He did not hear them rattling in the wheel cover. Like he said they are bolts so most likely they did not just fly away, without damaging the fender or some car part, as they have weight and rotating at that speed they would have done damage. If the techs had not installed the bolts, he would have felt it backing out or pulling forward in the bay. If he really thought there was a risk of injury to his family, why did he not pull over and call for service? Disclaimer: I am not related to Tire Discount in any way but being a happy customer. I do not know the owners or tech by name. I just hate to see a relatively small shop get a bad rap on one complaint. I do not know the customer either. Got a flat tire while visiting the area on vacation. They patched my tire in just a few minutes and it was completely free. Great service!!

Fast service. Was in and out in 15 minutes. Needed 2 front tires for my car. Had my car up and changing the tires as soon as i arrived. I called ahead and one of the employees was waiting for me as i pulled in. Was greeted outside immediately and car was brought in. Will come back again for my back tires! read more
