The first time I went to Leete to get a tire patched, they saved me money by determining the bent rim didn't need to be replaced (and it's still fine a year later). I got a good deal on my last set of tires there and they rotate and balance them every 5k miles for free. When my a/c blower motor was going bad, they drove the car 3 times to duplicate the problem so they could make sure there wasn't a cheaper fix than replacing the motor itself. An oil change includes a safety check to find other problems, really helpful for an old car. Everyone who works there is friendly and professional. They stick to their appointment schedule and have your car ready when promised. read more

I have used this service a few times and previously had good experiences, but I took my Honda in to get some maintenance that resulted in a serious service failure set. Essentially, one thing has led to another with the final straw being that I called to discuss an issue which resulted in a gentleman 'mansplaining' the potential issue (fyi, I have an engineering degree so get the picture). NEVER go to leete tire on 2nd Street!!!!! I went in for a simple state inspection. I waited three hours. At closing time the guy told me my car was ready and out front. I paid before going out. He gave me the keys to someone else's car. When I told him he gave me the wrong keys he ran to the back to find my car and then told me the inspected the wrong car and never did mine. Then they told me to come back the next day and they would do it for free even though I already paid. During the 3 hour wait I watched multiple other customers come in and gave nothing but complaints. I would give this place negative stars if yelp would allowThis place is terrible. NEVER go to Leete tire and auto!!!!!! Went back today to get a refund for the inspection they never did for my car. No apology for wasting almost 3 hours of my time, making me pay for an inspection I didn't get, and didn't do anything to make up for it. Terrible customer service. Probably even worse services. This shop is convenient to my office so I figured I would give them a try. Took my truck in for a state inspection and get a call claiming that I had a bad ball joint. I immediately walked to the shop in order to see for myself why they were claiming a bad ball joint. When I arrived they claimed there was too much movement so I asked the mechanic to show me. I pointed out to them that, visibly, the ball joint looked fine. They jacked the truck up using a floor jack--I then proceeded to grip the tire at 12 and 6 position trying to move it--there was NO movement present. The mechanic then used a large pry bar and managed to get roughly a 1/16 of an inch of movement. I asked what the spec was for the amount of movement allowed he could not answer. I asked if the large pry bar was normal he said yes--my concern was the with this size of pry bar anyone could force something to move. I ended up getting a rejection sticker. After I left I consulted a few mechanic friends of mine who provided me copies of the VA inspection manual pages and also ensured me that a large pry bar was not an acceptable method to check the play in this ball joint. I figured as much but was not sure. I will be filing a formal complaint with the VA State Police informing them of improper practices being used while performing state inspections. I will also be writing a formal complaint to the owner which includes the mechanics first and last name. I wanted to publicly post this information as a warning. This is a classic shady way for a shop to drum up extra money. I fear that they probably take advantage of many people who do not know any better especially being so close to VCU. Between my wife and I, I have 4 vehicles to maintain and will never use a Leete store again. It's a shame honest people are so scarce especially in the auto mechanic trade. read more

I'm glad to see that they finally responded - almost a year later. The fact is that I had my car towed to their garage very late one night. I guess they realized that they had me backed against a wall because they offered to replace my alternator and battery for almost $500. Not knowing better, I agreed. After some research online, I realized that they were taking advantage of me. I was able to get the car to Carroll's on Leigh St, they fixed the alternator for $150, and told me that I didn't need a new battery. After paying Leete to remove the parts, and paying Carroll to make the repairs, I still spent less than what they had quoted me at Leete. This doesn't come down to a misunderstanding or simply dissatisfaction. It comes down to Leete trying to take advantage of me. I'm sure that they are honest nine times out of ten, but mechanics are judged by the quality of their work, and their honesty. How do you know you aren't the tenth customer? read more

With a location that is convenient to my workplace and super friendly staff, it is hard to beat Leete. I bought a new set of tires from Leete two years ago and have been very happy with them. Free rotation for the life of the tires is a nice bonus. I have also had my state inspection done here for the last three years. I've never had any major issues come up as a result of the inspections or felt like anyone was trying to sell me a service I didn't need. read more

Friendly bunch who were extremely patient with a gal who wasnt to knowledgeable. Unfortunately today I went in for o2 sensor and was told the sensor alone would cost $268....I then called the Hyundai dealership and was told the part would be $233. How is it your part is more then the dealer part? After being told the part brand I went to autozone and found the NGK part on their site for 146. Again friendly bunch but either they are getting screwed by there parts warehouse or they thought they could overcharge me because I seemed nieve. Maybe this is a one off occurence but i suggest you ensure you are getting fair pricing on the parts they offer. read more

I always bring my own brand new parts from advanced auto parts. I've gone to this leetes for 2 years and never had an issue supplying my own oil and parts. They never said there was an issue prior. They said it was no issue to install. They gave me a call today saying I needed another part, so I agreed. Was given a call an hour later stating they bought the wrong part and we're going to charge me for labor and time when they admitted to the mistake multiple times. I was on speakerphone while in a room full of people and it was not just embarrassing but uncalled for seeing now I'm worried they may purposely mess something up on my vehicle. I was interrupted on the phone while speaking and not able to clearly convey my issues with what was going on. Micheal called me stupid on the phone after I called him out on his mistake, threatened me by charging me more , threatened that he would take my car of the lift I worked on and leave it on the street, and then when I asked him to calm down and lower his voice he tried then repeatedly started lying, raising his voice, and threatening me more. This is unacceptable customer service. It's unacceptable how they are unable to take responsibility for making a mistake and trying to charge me a mark up for the vehicle. Due to the car I brought in I feel as if they were trying to run my pockets for money. I was forced to call another store and ask for a higher up because of the situation where Wes the son of the owner tried to fix everything. I appreciate everything Wes did by handling it professionally but it doesn't change what happened today. I will no longer go here nor recommend it to anyone. read more

I've been going to Leete for a couple of years now and they have saved me tons of money on repairs. They replaced my timing belt for $300 less than what I was quoted other places. I have always had quick and courteous service there. It's one of those neighborhood type places, the guys will try to get to know you and make an effort to remember you and your preferences. I have been bringing my vehicles to Leete's for the last two years and have had nothing but great experiences so far. I would typically bring my vehicle into dealership's service shops in the past but got fed up with paying for overpriced work and average service on my vehicles once they were out of warranty. I decided to try Leete's for some repairs and regular maintenance years ago and am glad I made the switch! Their prices are very reasonable and their location is very convenient. The staff there has always been polite, friendly, and knowledgable. Most importantly, they have never pressured me into paying for a service that I did not bring my vehicle in for. They give me their honest opinion on whether or not a "recommended" service should be performed and let me make the decision for myself. I am a regular customer at Leete Tire on Hull Street. I have my trucks serviced there. First over the years the service manager has lied to me about small things like checking the fluids, back to my warehouse, system was empty(example)......etc Dude said sorry and sent someone out to fill it up...... and on and on.......... My big truck broke down thinking it was the transmission. I had it towed to Leete on Hull street. Talked to Brent about checking the transmission. The drive shaft was off due to towing. He told me he would check the transmission out. The truck sat in the same spot for over a week. I called several times to ask if he checked the transmission. After two weeks and calling for several more days ; I called and Brent told me that the trans was shot. He did not check the transmission because the truck never moved from the spot it was towed to and the drive shaft was still off the truck, bolts in the glove compartment. Never checked the transmission!!! I ordered a rebuilt transmission. It took several weeks for Leete to install the transmission. Then he told me that it was the wrong transmission. OK I will get another one. I ordered another one locally. Transmission arrived and it took another week to get to my truck. Finally the new transmission is installed So the wrong transmission could be returned for credit, unfortunately Leete removed several parts off the wrong transmission so when I returned it I was told that I would not receive any refund. Leete said they only took off bad parts like the kickdown module and something else. Cost me $500 plus $200 shipping because they ruined the transmission by taking off the parts and not reinstalling prior to return. Well it turns out that due to not checking the transmission and going through all this expense of transmission swap outs. Turns out the original transmission was fine, I had to return the original transmission as a core exchange. The transmission shop said the core charge transmission (original one) was fine!!! What the real problem on the truck was the Hydroboost was bad which locked up and rendered the truck immobile. After driving the truck with the new transmission for a few miles the truck locked up again and it seemed like the the transmission was not engaging again just as this happened in the first place. To sum up, I had the Hydroboost replaced at another shop. All along it was just the hydroboost!! After almost $3,800 spent screwing around with Leete , I spent another $250 on the Hydroboost. Finally problem solved. If Leete would have checked the transmission in the first place they would have found the real problem. Leete does not have the most honest people working for them. Lots more to this that Leete was not honest with, but I am tired of writing and so pissed. Customer beware, Never again. read more

I find your response to be inadequate. You never once directly address the issue. I am not arguing the fact that you fixed the two tires you had mounted wrong. I give you credit for that in the above. However, I do find it shady that in your response you say that the wheel was scratched and do not once say that you DID NOT BEND THE RIM. It's a wonderful way of throwing the focus off of the problem & instead just dancing around the issue, without having to admit to the fact that you did something wrong. First I would like to say I was a customer for at least 15 years. We have multiple cars and all were serviced by Leete. Ver few if any problems. I set up an appointment a a week ahead for an inspection. I actually let them tell the best day. The car was dropped off by 8:30. I let them know I needed the car by 4:30. At 3 I called to check and was informed they could not get to it that day. As a long time customer I was extremely upset with the lack of professionalism. No phone the day before saying they were that backed. Nothing when I dropped it off that it would not get done that day. I cannot deal with them to fix my car if they can't keep an appointment made a week ahead of time. I hate to see a good business go down let their customer service slide. I can no longer recommend Leete as an acceptable auto service option. read more

This was by far the worst auto shop I have ever taken any of my car to. Dishonest mechanics. I was quoted around 1,300 for a job that required little labor and was told it was high because certain parts had to come from the dealership. After getting this quote I found the parts I "needed" on my usual parts website. Getting my car towed there was a huge waste of money and a big regret. Absolutely horrible experience here. I called on Friday to ask if they could put a factory exhaust component back on which they confidently replied that they could on the following Monday. It is just an exhaust piece. I had the part and it is replaced by about five bolts. I brought the car in that Monday morning (11am.) They told me that they should be able to get it done by the end of the day and by the following day at the latest. They estimated the job at 2 hours. I called that morning and asked what time I should pick my car up and they said "we'll let you know" and hung up. I came in at the end of the day the following day. They hadn't even started it and said that they didn't know when it would be started. I could have taken it somewhere else in that time and I rearranged my schedule to have this job done in this time frame. I depended on having this done by that day because I was trading the car in. The manager there kept saying that he's waiting to check with the dealership how to do the job which tells me he has a lack of even a basic understanding of how cars work. Due to their incompetence I had to take it to another shop and rent another car on the days I was not off from work at great personal expense to me. Complete mismanagement of their schedule by the managers there as they booked too many jobs without giving people accurate times of completion and lacked knowledge in how long the jobs would realistically take to complete. It is really not right that they string people along like this. I am trying to track down the owner as well as take this up with the BBB and any other agency available to me. read more

don't go here! APPARENTLY the mechanics don't know how to use a impact wrench. The proper way is to hand tread on the bolts. Not treading them on or mounting any part with the impact wrench! (for leetes information) The impact wrench is for removing bolts. So these so call professionals cross treaded my lugs on the driver side! I knew something was up when they said my power steering fluid was leaking. I don't have power steering! So if you want your car fucked up more than it was and get a trumped up bill for features your car doesn't even have ? Go on down to leete's and let some high school drop outs cross tread your vehicle and over charge you! read more

When my check engine light came on a week after Downtown Leete worked on it, they took it back, ran the diagnosis again, and fixed it again - all *complimentary*! When my car needed body work, though they don't do that, they made many calls to help me find a place. And if you work downtown, the location can't be beat for same day service. The office guys are all super nice (and give my dog treats;) I love Leete! read more

I took them a job that my BMW dealer wanted to charge several hundred dollars to do, and the took care of it for a fraction of the cost and got it right the first time. It's funny that leete auto replied to my post to save their ass but honestly the starter that you supposedly put in wasn't put in correctly then my wires were all out when it was given to the auto shop that actually fixed the problem that your shop created. Due to the lack of knowledge and carelessness of your shop you created a problem that never existed bc funny how if my starter motor was bad as you claimed it to be I would have had problems starting my car. Also I was charged for a diagnostic test but in a video I recorded mike says we didn't do anything to your car but put it on the rack and we knew it was your starter. But also when I received my first call the guy said we cracked your starter probing it during a diagnostic test. Silly me so your shop is ASS and you finessed me of $250 for nothing. read more

Warning! Leete is dishonest. I took my flat trailer tire to the 2nd Street shop and told them I needed it back late the next day. The rep told me they would take it to their Hull Street store, repair and return. I called the next afternoon. The rep said he would call the Hull St. store and check on it but never called me back. I called again and he said the tire was ready but they could not get it back to the 2nd Street shop until the next day. I told him I would drive to the Hull St. store and pick it up. He said OK and he would let that store know I was coming. After a 25 minute drive in traffic, I arrive and the Hull Street store does not have my tire and has never heard of it! They call the 2nd Street store and my tire is there, unrepaired. I had to go back to the Hull Street store the next day and they charged me for the repair. What a joke. The rep lied to my face. Someone else in my office had a bad experience there as well. I will never go there again. read more

Do yourself a favor and do not go here. Had them install a leveling kit on my vehicle plus alignment. Got it back with what they said was a broken abs sensor and steering wheel off center. They said the sensor had to be coincidence and there was no way the caused it to break and if I buy the $200 sensor they would be kind enough to put it on (one bolt by the way). I did some research that all pointed to the wire being stressed during a careless install job of the leveling kit, not the sensor. They said they checked the wire and it was fine however a simple test with my multimeter revealed there was no continuity in the wire. I removed the maze of a wire and spliced in a new one which of course fixed the problem. So to summarize I wound up fixing what they broke... Opposite of how it should be when dealing with a mechanic. read more

I had my state inspection done here for the first time a month ago because they were within walking distance of my job which made it more convenient for me than going all the way to the dealership where I regularly have my car serviced. My car passed inspection but told me I needed to get my rear brakepads replaced very soon because they were in danger of damaging my rotors; they gave me a quote to replace them for around $200. I thought that was odd because I had just had my 60K check up at my dealership less than a year ago during which they replaced all my brakepads AND I hardly drive my car so I thought something was up. Long story short, took my car back to the dealership and everything was fine and basically in brand new condition. Called Leete to let them know what had happened and that I would NEVER bring my car to them again and I would advise all my friends and coworkers against having their cars serviced there as well. read more

I recently took my car in to have work done at Leete. They came recommended and now I can certainly see why. I had my front brake pads and rotors replaced, no issue there. I also had my power steering pump replaced. Upon picking it up it drove amazingly well. After a mile or so the problems started. Having my car is an intrinsic part of my job, I sell for a living. Being that I had already sacrificed a days commissions to servicing my car I was less than pleased. The staff at Leete were more than sympathetic and helpful and diagnosed the problem the next day as a faulty replacement pump from the manufacturer. It was rectified the very next day and they worked around my availability to get the car back in. Wes, and the whole staff have changed how I look at taking my car to the mechanic. No longer is that overwhelming sense of dread as I know that they are straight shooters and aren't looking to gouge me for work that doesn't need to be done. I generally do not write reviews of places but this time I felt compelled. Recently, my son took his car to Leete in Richmond because it was not driving correctly (loosing power up hills, etc). He had already read the engine codes on the car before he took it in. Leete proceeded to tell him the he needed a new catalytic converter plus a bunch of other stuff, total cost $2,750.00. I recommended to my son that he seek a second opinion. He went and told Leete he wanted to get a second opinion. What did Leete do? They charged him $90 dollars for the estimate of repairs and that $90 dollars was to read the engine codes. My son took his car to another garage and they estimated the fix to be $250.00 and the fix does not even include the catalytic converter. Obviously, Leete felt they could rip off my college age son. I would suggest that nobody take their car to this place. Shame on them. read more
