Had a slow leak caused by a nasty sheet metal screw (probably from the Purple Line work on Piney Branch that I drive through). Stopped into Tire Town today based on the Takoma Park Facebook group's recommendation. For $35, Ventura and Miguel had my tire patched and re-mounted within about 25 minutes of pulling into the parking lot! No issues with the TPMS afterwards either (sometimes mounters can screw that up). Don't even think twice--if you have a puncture, go to these guys. Just remember that the entrance is on Holton Ln., just before the entrance to the car wash. You can't enter from New Hampshire Ave. And bring cash, as they charge $1 for credit card payment. read more

As a women going to any mechanic or car shop can be very anxiety inducing as I'm sure many can agree with HOWEVER, since parking my car in their driveway, I felt comfortable. The manager ( at least who I believe is the manager) and the mechanics were so kind. Didn't make me at all uncomfortable or made me feel like they were trying to swindle me because I'm a woman. They Charged me a 10 dollar fee for taking off a tire and said a used tire was 110. Only went there because it was close. Decided to go my usual spot in beltsville for 50 dollars. Once I said that they started dropping prices. The receipt of the $10 didn't even say the correct thing it said rim installed on tire. I should preface this by saying that I haven't purchased tires from this spot so I can not attest to their prices or quality. I randomly found this place while in the area. My tire light was on and after an epic fail of trying to put air in the tires myself, I had given up on trying again. When I got there, they were pretty busy and the first person I spoke with wasn't too friendly which threw me off a little. I was immediately greeted by someone else who was kind and directed for me to park my car in a specific area. He filled up all four tires and sent me on my way. He was a life saver truly and my tires have been good since. The area to enter is pretty confusing to navigate for someone who isn't familiar with the area because it's next to a car wash I believe. There were a lot of cars waiting on the street so you may want to examine for a bit to figure out which way to go since the area is very small. read more

Great experience with Tire Town. I came here after another shop who claimed I needed rim repair, and almost ended up buying an entire new wheel unnecessarily. Mitch and crew took the time to thoroughly investigate and diagnose the problem, and determined it was actually the tire that was damaged, causing repeatedly low air, not the rim. This place is a lifesaver. One morning I noticed my tire light came on. I just thought ok, Im low on air. Then, a motorist told me that it looks like I had a flat. So I pull in here, and this nice employee filled up my air. I offer some money for his time. He refused. Another time, a friend pulled up and had a flat. They were able to work her in. They patched up her tired in no time. The patch lasted a long time. They get very busy but they get the job done right. They arent too expensive. They will rob you if you come to this place... This is yet the worse place you could go to, they will jack the price if you dont speak spanish. The price at this place is very high and their job is always sloppy, when i get my tired fixed here i always have to come back cuz their job wasn't great, another issue is even they always have things on sell yet comparing to other places this place is very expensive. I needed to fix the rim( wheel) and it was going to cost $160 and they wouldn't go any lower so I went to diffirent places and the prices everywhere else is less by half. I ended up leaving when they tried to bring it down to $150 and that was final. So I went to another place which charged me $90 and their job was very accurate and fast. Make sure this place is your last choice unless you have lots of money and time to come back over and over. read more

This place takes both cash and credit card! When you arrive, flag down a staff member or else you will be confused. If a staff is not available, wait in line inside their front entrance and they will eventually come to discuss about your vehicle. Located on a busy highway, this place gets pretty good business. Rather than having your vehicle serviced inside a garage, most work is done outside in the parking lot adjacent to the tire shop. This is good because you can see exactly what they are doing to your vehicle. However, it might be a drawback if the weather is bad outside. They charge $15 for tire plug and $25 for tire patch in the even you have a nail on your tire. This is around the average that companies normally charge. The staff here were very friendly and genuinely loved what they do. However, the road has tons of debris. I noticed there were small sharp nails and sharp debris on the road next to the shop. I think it came from the staff removing debris from car tires. The staff here need to be proactive to keep the parking area clean to prevent additional tire damage. This place opens 7days a week so expect a crowd on weekends. Definitely will come back in the future. read more

I called them at 9:48am I told them what tire size my vehicle and the year and the manager of the place said he was running a special for all tires on the left side when we arrived he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about . It's nice to come to a business and they know exactly how to help you! I popped my front tire last night and was so nervous about the replacement process. However, with a bit of research @ given the reviews, I chose this location and I am absolutely pleased. The owner was patient and guided me through the process (on a Sunday afternoon might I add) and when I showed up, he sparked genuine conversation and the mechanics were also friendly and lively! I've been meaning to post this for awhile. If you live in the DMV and find a need for a repair or new tire, you MUST take your vehicle to Tire Town!! I found them on Yelp after reading a post from another driver who gave them high praise. Instead of going to the nearest tire center, I had my car towed to Tire Town. I had my tire replaced and back on the road in under 20 minutes...and there were four customers ahead of me! Wait, it gets better. Two weeks prior, my tire pressure light stayed on after I had my car serviced at a gas station. The mechanic advised me to buy a new tire sensor. The mechanic at Tire Town quickly assessed and resolved the problem after I told him what the gas station mechanic recommended and it didn't cost me anything! I have a spare tire, not a doughnut, in my trunk and it needed air. Simple fix! read more

I called on a Tuesday for a tire. Owner said "Yeah, we have plenty. $50 for tire and $13 to mount and balance." I said "Great, I'll see you tomorrow." I had my mom drive our car over there, and when she got there she was told the following: 1. No one called about that tire. 2. We don't have any used tires in that size. 3. We can sell a new one for $148. I told my mom to leave, and once she was about to leave they miraculously found a tire in that size for more money obviously. read more

I found this place last minute after coming outside to what looked like a slashed tire. I'm so glad I went to this place! It was close to where I live, really reasonably priced and customer service was the best. Mitch is wonderful and did a good job of making me feel comfortable. Although there were a lot of customers being helped, Mitch got me started pretty quickly and his service guys fixed my tire and got me out of there in less than 45 minutes. If you're looking for a professional and inexpensive place to buy tires or have your tires repaired you have to go to Tire Town in Takoma Park! On my drive from Miami to New York, my car developed a serious wobble. A quick google search revealed that this was a do-not-pass-go sort of issue and that I should seek out a tire shop ASAP. I found Tire Town through Yelp and they lived up to their reputation. I was greeted quickly and my car was examined, revealing that, at a minimum, I needed 2 tires replaced, but I could stand to get all four replaced. Through this whole inspection, I was told what was he was seeing and what that meant - as someone who knows nothing about cars, the explanation was easy to understand while not feeling like I was being talked down to. I was brought inside to see the stock of tires in the size I needed myself and had the options explained to me. These ranged in price points and longevity, again with everything explained thoroughly. I chose 2 used tires for a very very fair price and will certainly be swinging by here on my way back south to get the 2nd two replaced. The whole process took around 25 minutes, even though they appeared to be very busy. This was great because there's no waiting area other than outside - this would be the only con that I found with going to Tire Town (although I'd rather pay less and be cold for 20 minutes). My car is old and it's been through a lot. A lot of abuse, a lot of tires, just a lot. I never really undersood the "need" to get your tires balanced as most of the time, when I got a new tire it included in the package; and i've never had to go get my tires balanced before. Recently, as I drove and went above 50mph, the steering wheel would begin to shake terribly. it would become really uncomfortable to drive and created in me a sense of anxiety as being the pessimist I am, I would think the car was experiencing a huge issue and would explode at any moment. A mechanic friend of mine suggested I get the tires balanced. I looked for a place on yelp and it was really difficult to find a location which did not have poor customer service reviews or complaints about long waits. That is, until I found Tire Town. Now, the neighborhood tire town is located in is not the best but this is an auto shop/tire shop not a restaurant. Tire town is located next to a car wash and on the sunny saturday morning I went, the car wash was bustling. I pulled in, the mechanic asked me to pull closer to the shop, brought out too hydraulic jacks propped my car up and got to work. These guys are pros. They get the work done and fast. To top that it' won't kill your wallet at $13/wheel. They did find that one of my drums on my car was too bent and should be replaced. Fine. At $60 it was reasonable. The guys don't try to upsell you here and because they don't you do not feel like they are trying to take advantage of you (the feeling that most people get when they go to an auto shop). This place was very helpful. As has been previously mentioned, Mitch the owner came outside and personally greeted me when I arrived. There appeared to be many repeat customers that he knew by name. They repaired the slow leak in my tire that was caused by a bend in the rim of the tire. They also repaired a tire that had a nail imbedded in it. I had that tire looked at when I got my oil changed elsewhere and had been told it could not be repaired, so I was pleasantly surprised to be told that fixing it would be no problem. They also put the hubcap back onto my rear tire because it had fallen off. For all of the repairs and installations, it only cost $25! I also felt like I was treated respectfully by Mitch, which often isn't the case in car shops, as I am a young woman without much car knowledge... read more

At first I wasn't sure about this place. First they thought I was there for a car wash, then for new tires. After I explained that I just needed my tires checked, rotated, and rebalanced, they didn't ask for the key or tell me to go inside or anything. But then they got to work and were done in literally ten minutes. They just put the car up on jacks and had four guys do one tire each. It was $52, and it fixed the problem. I needed my wheels balanced on Saturday; the busiest day of the week for all these tire places. I tried my local shop but they were closed; I tried NTB but they estimated a 2-3 hour wait time. Finally I took a chance and went down to Tire Town. Park in the parking lot and the owner will come out and greet you, then find out what you need done. They did the balancing for $13 per wheel, (BUT WAIT, HERE'S THE BEST PART!) they just rolled a trolley jack and lifted up the back of my car, right there in the parking lot! Not only does this make the job very fast, but you get to see exactly what they do, and during the 10 minutes it takes for the balancing, you can inspect your axles and whatnot. I don't know about you, but my car has a few quirks and I don't like other people trying to drive it, even for a few feet. At tire town, they don't even need to touch the drivers seat. 10 minutes later and the job is done! read more

I had one of the most pleasant car repair experiences I can remember here. They were efficient, friendly, and I believe very honest-- there was absolutely no up-sell pressure. They tidily replaced my spare in its complicated compartment, which I really appreciated.
