I was initially really happy with these guys' work. Unfortunately, the first time I went on the highway after Nzuimanto replaced my tires, it became clear that they weren't properly balanced as my car vibrated at or above 60mph. I went back to Nzuimanto and they rebalanced the tires, much improving the issue, but it wasn't until another shop did another balance and alignment months later that the vibration fully went away. read more

Got my flat tire fixed in less than 10 minutes. They were courteous and super efficient. I was worried any place I brought my car would try to upsell me on replacing the tire (and subsequently the other back tire) but this place didn't try to upsell at all. They patched the tire for $30. The gentlemen at Nzuimanto are proper folk. They offer you speedy and friendly service, and have your best interest in mind when it comes to pricing. My tire had some damage from the curb but was fit to run. My clerk told me so and said that I did not need to swap it out yet but agreed to do so when I asked him to. It takes an honest man to care for the client and not the money. When my boyfriend's tire deflated, we came here, too, and they charged a much lower price than the first spot he tried. I was so happy to come across this tire place that was open for late hours yesterday. The screw in my tire was unexpected and I just wanted to get it resolved right away. They saw us immediately and they didn't even have to jack up the car for the repair (which was done within minutes). Everyone there was very friendly/jolly. Tried to go to a couple other places higher up on the yelp sort list to have a tire I already bought put on. The first (Menla) was a bit rude and tried to charge me $30. I scoffed and tried a second place nearby (name unknown). Just a lone dude surrounded by decrepit cars. Who also wanted $30. So I find this place, a bit farther away but took a chance. It's a small but efficient operation. Everyone's a French-speaking African which is kind of cool (I may have watched Lupin too much). Lead guy is gregarious and keeps it moving. Might have to wait a few minutes for one of the 4 car spaces they use to free up. But once it was my turn they got it done in 10 minutes. Total cost $20. It's a little out of the way but I'd come back here for tire issues. read more

Good, reasonable prices. 2 tires for my Range Rover ran me about $350. This is exactly what you want in a place that deals with your tire issues: 1. Fast 2. No bullshit 3. Cheap The place isn't the best looking or most attractive, but the staff there know their stuff and will tell you bluntly what's up with your ride. I had called a few places inquiring about a patch or a plug they all wanted at least double what Nzuimanto did, and had terrible hours. I pulled up to the shop, took my tire I wanted plugged out of the car, and within 5 minutes in and out. $15 dollars later I was on my way. Haven't explored their used tire setup, but anytime I need wheel or tire related service I am coming here. Went about a week ago to check a slow leak in my tire. I was informed that there were two nails. I got them both plugged and was on my way in about 45 minutes.... Great! Went in to have a different tire checked. This leak was much slower But I figured I would take it to the same place and get it repaired on Saturday 1/4. I was informed that the person that fixed the crack in my rim at another location did not do a good job so I needed to have it welded some more. I was informed that it would be a few hours. I paid $25 for a sealant to be put on and agreed to return on Monday 1/6 to have it repaired. Came back 1/6 but I did not want to wait so asked for the spare to be put on and I would come back later to pick up the repaired rim. I received a call later in the evening letting me know the rim was repaired. I was at work so I asked if I could get it first thing in the morning. I was told that was fine. I came in Tuesday morning at 10:00. I was informed that they were not sure where the rim was and was not familiar with the work since it was a different staff from the day before. I was told that the owner was not able to be reached yet that morning. I was asked to check back in an hour. When I returned I got the spare taken off and my rim put on. I went in and paid. When I got in the car and started to back out the space there was a clicking noise coming from the tire. I informed the staff. I was told it was nothing they could do about it. He said it was a mechanical problem and all they did was work on my rim. I explained that it was a rim problem. I told him the noise was coming from the tire. I asked him to call the owner. He told me to call the number on the sign of the building. I refused nd told him to contact the owner, explain the situation and then let me talk. The owner ends up telling me that it was a maintenance problem..... they did their job right...... he reviewed the work from the camera and it was accurate..... there was nothing he could do for me.... I told him to have his employee get in m car to listen with the rim on and then get in and listen with the spare. I figured that would prove to him it was not mechanical. His response was that a spare is much lighter than the rim soon. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME!! I called him back and told him I was going to dispute the charge on my American Express and contact a lawyer. He had a nerve to tell me that he gave me great discount and could not believe I would call a lawyer. That was hilarious to me. A discount on a crappy job is not worth the savings. Someone needs to be responsible. He finally agreed to tell the employee to put the spare on my car and see if he still hears the noise. When he took the spare off he noticed that there was a large bump where they welded the rim. It was causing the rim to hit in that spot every time as the wheel went around. They ended up welding the bump down smooth to stop it from hitting. PROBLEM THAT THEY CAUSED SOLVED!! I do not appreciate the way I was treated or spoken to. I was not leaving that place knowing I had no mechanical problems at all with my car and whatever the issue was had to be their doing. When I complained about the noise they should have taken the tire off and checked their work instead of the employee and the owner telling me it was mechanical and there was nothing they could do for me. They never have to worry about seeing me or my my car ever again. read more

Woke up to a flat tire on a Sunday morning and needed to get a replacement ASAP! Luckily, I found Nzuimamto Tires and I couldn't have been more grateful! When I got there there is was pouring rain so they told us to stay inside the car so we wouldn't get soaked! We didn't mind waiting for the rain to stop but he proceeded to change our tire in the pouring rain anyways which was incredibly nice! The price wasn't bad either. We paid $140 for 1 tire (no rim). This place is quite a find on the weekend. I hit one of those massive Monster DC next level potholes the other night and slightly bent my BBS wheel. Immediately after hitting the pothole, my greatest fears were realized when I heard the low tire chime and air leaking out. Luckily, my tire was perfectly in tact and I was able to get myself to Nzuimanto Tires on a weekend. The job was done quickly, the wheel was satisfactorily straightened, and the leak was fixed without cracking the alloy. I would recommend this shop for minor repairs and quick tire service if in the Kennedy Street corridor. Great local shop! read more

Great experience and would highly recommend for tire repairs. I had two tires leaking air due to nails puncturing my tires. They were able to work on my car immediately and I was in and out in less than 30 min. One tire they plugged. The other, after removing the nail, wasn't leaking anymore (strange). They showed me each of the punctures and leaks before doing the repair. Since only one tire needed a repair, they lowered the price for me. $25 to get 2 tires looked at and one plugged. Wow, this place is so amazing. I had an accident. And they were able to Weld my rim that had split and fix my other rim that had a dent in it for the such a crazy low price. And they had my rare custom tire and sold it to me super low. They also have free water, which is awesome because it's so hot outside. And the owner is so nice he's like Santa Claus. Listen, if you love yourself, please do yourself a favor and go here the next time DC roads assassinate your tires. After work earlier this week, all I wanted to do was drive to the closest metro's parking lot and take the train to the closest mall. Instead, I accidentally drove over a nail and my tire crapped out on me :(. After waiting 5-ever for my insurance to come out and change a tire (I know, I should have had a jack with me smh) I called to see if Nzuimanto Tires could patch up my original tire that evening. Even though they were closing, they let me come right over! I usually hate going to car shops because I'm almost totally ignorant about cars (how do people learn about cars anyway???) and the misogynistic men who usually run those places can smell it on me, I swear! They usually treat me with contempt or talk to me like I'm an infant as a result. However, These men were nothing but polite, friendly, downright joyful even though it was stingingly cold outside and they could have already been gone home by then! I don't mean to build it up, but these guys were so helpful that they warranted my first Yelp review. This is a (relatively) new business on a street that desperately needs new tenants and Nzuimanto is a good one. I was in the process of ordering replacement tires off Tire Rack and ended up just deciding to go with what they had in stock because it was only a few dollars more after accounting for shipping. I also needed a tire plugged after hitting a screw on North Capitol, so the day I was going to have them mount the new tires, I took it off the car, tossed it in the trunk and headed over to get it plugged at the same time. Easy, no problems, sunshine and daisies... One thing I didn't account for was the fact that I am a raging idiot and, given this idiot-esque behavior, I lost the lug key somewhere between my driveway and this shop which is...wait for it...4 blocks away. So, after a few calls to the VW dealership, I learned I could not order a replacement key without giving them $160 and a human child. Two minutes later, I was back on the phone with Nzuimanto, who was helpful enough to offer to a) use the universal to get the lock nut out and b) sell me a new set of lock nuts...on top of the two new tires, the mounting, the balance and the plug. We're only getting started though. I had screwed around long enough trying to figure out where I left the lug key and then crying and then searching another place, crying, and so on, that it was now 4:30 pm. I had started this early that morning, thinking that was plenty of time to do everything, which was good because I was busy all day the next day and had a long distance trip the following day. (I know, I know...last minute...raging idiot...we've discussed this) I pulled into their shop figuring they would tell me to come back the next morning but I was done and on my way before everyone got out of work at 5:00. So, in conclusion: Me - an idiot. Nzuimato - Great. Total cost for two tires, mounting/balance, a plug, lock lug removal and new set of lock lugs was less than what Pepboys was charging for two tires and mounting...with a total time in the shop of about 20 minutes. This place is small but what makes it five stars is the incredible customer service. After I stupidly lost my wheel key, both my car dealer and a large chain automotive shop told me I was screwed and that I should "search the internet" in the chain shop's word. The owner at Nzuimanto's, on the other hand, immediately helped me and was able to find me a replacement within 15 minutes, all with a smaller. Plus, in my limited experience, this place is much cleaner than most independent tire shops. I will be coming back here for all of my future wheel/tire needs. read more
