Anyone thinking of using BestUsedTires BEWARE!! My experience has been nothing short of horrid. From sending me unusable tires that my mechanic couldn't install, to accusing him of "dubious intentions," they are the kind of business that attacks customers who call them out. I can honestly say I've never been treated in this way. They required an array of documentation to support my complaint so I dutifully provided them with everything from my mechanic's researched documentation of why installing their tires would represent legal jeopardy, to my mechanic's PERSONAL STATEMENT to this effect. My mechanic and I jumped through every hoop imaginable to make my case before realizing that BestUsedTires were simply acting in bad faith. As much as I want to leave a bad review, I can't. The customer service is just too good. I ordered a set of front tires, and they both had horrible sidewall damage. A quick phone call later and a new set was on the way. The second set also had sidewall damage from being driven on flat, but after a quick email, a return shipping label was sent and refund on the way. I bought two matching General GMax tires with 10/32 tread rating and never received a tracking number, One tire was in decent shape and the other was around 10 years old with dryrot and someone glued huge white letters NITTO on it. (This was not in the pics or discription) I complained about the tire not being what i ordered and received a email stating I need to pay for shipping and a restock fee. After I filed a complaint with Norton this response I get. Sadly we do not offer refunds to customers that are not happy with the overall look of the tires. An update however that may be useful for others that got the shaft: I disputed the charge with my credit card company and they refunded the total amount charged after discussing the entire transaction on the phone and sending in documentation (i.e. receipts and correspondence with VYC). I understand the return policy for instances where the customer is not satisfied for other reasons aside from defects/false advertising/incorrect item received but come on. This company does not seem to perform any quality checks on their tires which poses a great safety risk. Will update when I see tire, but so far my advice is do not order if you need a tire asap OR reliable delivery information. As someone who works in public relations, customer service and reliability are really important to reputation. So is getting to work. I ordered this tire Tuesday morning at 9:58 am after trying to call since 9 am to ask a question and to try to order by phone since I was having internet issues. I could not get through after many tries so I left a voicemail. I also sent a special note with my order asking to get the tire packed in time since I was not able to get through by phone. I never got a reply, or a return call to my voicemail. The confirmation I received at 11 am Tuesday stated the expected delivery was Wednesday by the end of the day. Then on Wednesday I notice the tracking never changed, so I called and a pleasant person answered after a 4 minute hold and said it did not make the truck in time so would ship later Wednesday and be there Thursday. I live 3 hours away from the location. Now the tracking says it is 2 hours in the other direction and still in PA? and I guess MIGHT be here by the end of day Friday. I would have paid for shipping if it meant I would bee able to drive my car sooner but I did not see that option. Basically my tire sat there for all day Tuesday and for practical purposes all day Wednesday. Waiting 4 days for a tire that is 3 hours away is not worth the savings in this case. I was a four-time customer of VYC Best Used Tires via eBay. The first two experiences were fine, when I bought some ubiquitous OEM tires, well worn but at bargain prices. No surprises, I got what was described. Things went sour, however, when I purchased high-end premium tires from VYC, which were later discovered to be unusable by my tire installer. One pristine looking tire was found to be leaking through a small puncture in the sidewall. With the other purchase, my installer discovered a patch repair located about 3/4-inch from the shoulder of what otherwise appeared to be a nearly new tire. He said this was an unsafe repair, it is not within the industry standard of 1-1/2 inches from the shoulder. He would not mount the tire. VYC would not provide a refund in either case -- their answer was this: "We are sorry to hear of the issue you are having with the order but unfortunately due to the length of time that has lapsed from when the order was delivered to the problem being brought to our attention we are unable to assist with this issue." It should be noted that VYC is an eBay Top Rated Seller, owing to 99.8% positive ratings from over 100,000 transactions. In fact, these statistics include my feedback, having left 5-star positive ratings four different times, immediately upon delivery, which always proved to be as quick as the 100,000+ consensus says. So how do you or I reconcile this eBay seller's amazing amount of positive feedback with my experience of getting skunked with fairly expensive yet utterly unusable tires? To begin the analysis, it's worth mentioning that the business success of VYC as well as most eBay sellers is heavily dependent on maintaining a positive reputation in the electronic marketplace. Clean tires that match the advertised tread depth, delivered to your door promptly, at a significant savings over all-new, makes for very satisfied customers. These folks immediately feel an obligation to respond in kind, by providing timely and highly positive feedback. Afterall, the seller has lived up to all his/her claims so far, and only the most jaded of buyers would bother to hold off on rating the seller until the tire is mounted. Here's my guess at their scam, aka "business model" ... (1) Conduct few inspections and air tests - selective sampling will do (2) Make the return process difficult (3) Offer a narrow return window of only 2 weeks (4) If filters (2) or (3) fail, make cash return small, net to buyer. (1) VYC and most used tire dealers obtain their inventory from wholesalers or directly from new tire retailers. They buy by the lot, hundreds at a time, of unsorted used tires, with an average cost of $5 to $10 depending on total quantity. No doubt that VYC puts in the effort to sort the tires into size and basic condition, screening for those that are obviously defective, plus they likely measure tread depth and wash each tire before photographing it. But my experience and that of other customers indicate that they inspect and air-test only a limited sampling. They apparently take a calculated risk that the cost of unhappy customers receiving defective tires is less than the labor-intensive expense of inspecting/testing each and every tire, and for that matter, twice, as they advertise. (2) A Google search will find many complaints about VYC's tactics to discourage returns and/or bad reviews. I'll not repeat those here. (3) VYC, like many other used tire dealers on eBay, gives a 14-day warranty. This is impractical for many buyers -- most reputable tire installers require an appointment, not to mention the buyer must make time in his/her own schedule. Two weeks can go by very quickly, which is precisely the point. VYC's return policy as stated on eBay ... "Refund/Replacement will not be issued if buyer contacted after 14 days period is over, buyer must contact within 14 days." Additionally, "buyer must return tire(s) back to our location at buyer's expense. Buyers pay all shipping related costs, including shipping tire(s) to and from our location." And the kicker, "Shipping charges are not refundable. Restocking fee of 15% will be applied to all returned orders." (4) If I had contacted them within 14 days, I would have had to pay about $25 for shipping back to VYC, plus a 15% restocking fee, to realize a partial refund. And since I would be charged for VYC's original shipment to me, even though all VYC listings on eBay say "free shipping", the partial refund shrinks to absurdity. For an $80 purchase price I should have expected to see a net refund of about (80-25-25-.15*80 = ) $18 ! A 78% loss on my investment, not including time and aggravation ! Lesson Learned: Alas, because I did not mount the tires within 14 days, eBay's Resolution Center will not side with the buyer since the seller's listing was clear and specific about its return policy. Buyer beware, especially with the likes of VYC. read more

Beware of any posts that are favorable. They recently sent an email to prior purchasers (including me) asking for a review to be entered on Yelp & other review sites. They're apparently trying to get a few good reviews. Please do not buy from this company. Bait & switch advertising. Tires should have been scrapped. All they want is your money, they don't care about your safety. Sent back set of four Michelin tires, touted to be "nice" with 8-9 tread depth remaining. Only one tire pictured in on-line ad & it looked to be almost "new" in appearance. One of tires received had what appeared to be 'melted rubber' in the tread and also had severe cracking that usually shows up from age & weathering. This tire also measured as low as "6" in some areas. Another tire had a fair amount of uneven tread wear that usually comes from front-end alignment problems. Only one tire was as pictured & it had been plugged. They will use 'return shipping' charges, you can't use their discounted freight rate to return, & pay a 15% restocking fee. You will lose money & be very upset about the experience. Credit card company was of no help (because of return policy). To avoid the hassle and chance of being a 'bait & switch' victim suggest you deal with others that care more about your safety. read more

Super disappointed. the website state the tires were 95% new. I received them last week. 2 out of 4 had patches(not mentioned in the description). One of them after installed had a hole and needed to be plugged. Obviously they did not inspect the tires before shipping to customer. I understand that I'm buying used tired but having 3 defects out of 4 tires is ridiculous and unacceptable and they graded the tires at 9-10 condition which is almost new. After my mechanic showed me the spot that needed to be plugged. I took pictures and tried to call customer service. No one picked up after 10 minutes of hold. Bad customer service. Not knowing what I walking in to. I asked for two used tires. Great, gave me a choice to choose from. So I chose a pair. "Ok sir, have a seat and they will bring them out so you can take a look at them before they put them on." I take a seat. About 12 minutes later they bring them out. This company says they inspect each tire to make sure the tire is safe and in good repair. This is a lie. I received a tire from this company that had 2 punctures. Costco was able to repair one, but the other puncture was in a non-repairable spot. This means the tire was no good. When I contacted the company they wanted pictures so they could send me a return label. However, when I told them I wanted the replacement tire sent over night, they said they could not do this. Even though they didn't live up to their guarantee, they refused to provide good customer service & send a replacement over night. Now, I will have to send the old one back once I receive the return label. This will take a week to go back, and another week to receive another tire. read more

I was given a myriad of choices with what to do. Cancel, take the one good one, get a different pair, mix and match... One tire had one plug and the second had two! I believe this is excessive. Yes, I read the disclaimer but did not imagine I would have three...count them...three plugs. They believe this is ok. Sure they will let me return them, but its cost about half of what I paid for the tires! If I made a mistake and ordered the wrong tires, I would have paid for return.
