Took my Lexus (w/about 34k miles) to Tires Plus because I had a small nail in one tire. Sounds simple, right? Imagine my surprise when David explained that they 'could not repair' the single tire, but that they could replace ALL 4 TIRES for over $1500 -- for the best performance, even though NONE of my tires are even close to needing replacement. (UNABLE TO UPLOAD PHOTO OF THE ESTIMATE HERE, BUT IT IS SHOWN ON OTHER SITES WITH THIS SAME REVIEW.)
My husband & I knew we were being hustled, so we politely left and then drove 5 minutes to Big Frank's in Cocoa Village. Twenty minutes and a whopping $26 later (+$10 cash tip to the repair guy who easily fixed the tire), we were on our way with our repaired tire -- with LOTS OF LIFE LEFT IN ALL 4 TIRES -- and the vehicle drives fine.
Just to be fair, I did online research AND called 2 different Lexus dealerships, and spoke with Service Managers about whether ALL tires would have needed replacement in this scenario. I was assured that if the other tires had plenty of life in them, that it would be ridiculous and wasteful to replace them. I am satisfied that I did my due diligence on this, and I feel David thought we seemed like a 'quick sale.'
SALES LESSON #1: Never underestimate those you're trying to sell.
SALES LESSON #2: Never rely on dishonesty to make ANY sale.
I'm guessing that this is a training issue or perhaps the guys at Tires Plus have quotas to fill. Whatever the problem, it is not MINE to bear. Selling people things they do NOT need is NOT sales -- it is thievery. As owners of a business for 40+ years, we have zero interest in doing business with people who lack virtue, basic decency, and ethics. Not only did Tires Plus lose the future business of servicing all our Brevard fleet trucks & vehicles, but I will make sure to warn friends, neighbors, other business owners, and anyone who will listen, to avoid these lying gypsies!
* Also, just a side note: Tires Plus cannot refill the newer tires with nitrogen because they say 'the equipment is too expensive.' I'll bet if they provided HONEST SERVICE and built a reputation on TRUST & INTEGRITY, that they'd actually HAVE CUSTOMERS and could afford necessary equipment to keep up with automotive progress. read more
