I'll never come here again. I took my car in for its 60K service, and told the person at the front desk that I was also experiencing a lot of "shaking" when I would brake, especially when going downhill. He said that they would take a look at the brakes free of charge, since they were covered under warranty, because, I had them replaced in January 2014. After the brake check, they said they saw nothing wrong with the brakes. 3 weeks later, and still "brake shaking" away, I decided to go back in since I couldn't take it anymore. I told them about the brake check they did previously, where they found nothing, and said it was probably the rotors needing to be turned. They checked it out, and said that the front rotors were indeed warped, and they machined them. Unfortunately, this was not covered under my "lifetime brake warranty", so they charged me $75. I had my brake pads replaced in Jan 2014. It is April 2015. 2 days later, I took a trip to Sacramento, and experienced the same shaking I had when I first brought it in. A family member recommended I take the car to Ayres Muffler and Brakes to get it checked out. Ayres found that the recently turned front motors had a coarse cut, were machined incorrectly, and were still run out. They ALSO found, that the rear rotors had run out as well, so they machined them too, and serviced the calipers. They did a road test after, and my car has been great ever since. No more shaking. $150 well spent. Ayres was great. Now, I'm curious as to what work Tires Plus ACTUALLY performed during my 60K service. That total bill was $1K, I guess I'll never know. Tires Plus is horrible. Don't waste your time and money here for car service. Maybe stick to tires. read more

First they don't stick to their times & the take forever to put tires on, not to mention I brought my car in with the spare tire on (keep in mind a totally different rim) and they mounted a new tire on the spare rim!!!! They left the blown tire on the regular rim leaving me without a spare! Paid for a lifetime alignment years ago... only used it one when I first bought it so decided to get my alignment checked. Was told my inner and outter tie rods ends needed to be replaced and there was no way to align my vehicle until this was done and it would cost me $365. Well decided to get a second opinion, brought it to another shop that we take my wife's car too that was fair and reliable, they were able to align it for me with out needing to replace anything for $89. Only reason I'm giving 2 stars is because I have bought tires here in the past and had my alignment done once with no issues and the workers were always friendly but that was years ago. If i could give this place 0 stars, I would! Went in for an oil change and to have my snow tires put on. When I picked up my car the manager tells me I need a fuel system flush and filter replacement because the filter is extremely rusted and looks to be the original filter. Well, if he would have checked his own store records, he would have seen that I had a fuel system flush and filter replaced AT HIS STORE just four months prior!!! So I obviously got screwed....wonder how many other services they have taken me for. I've contacted corporate and am waiting to hear from the regional manager. Won't be satisfied until they pay for every service I've had from their company (the brakes and rotors they insisted i needed and then installed the wrong pads TWICE) redone at a dealership. My son recommended this shop, so when I needed an oil change, I made the appointment online, and they were ready for me when I arrived. The service writer - Brian, was extremely polite, friendly and knowledgeable. The customer waiting area has a soft drink vending machine, free coffee, DirecTV, a clean restroom and a viewing window into the service bays. The bays looked spotless and the mechanics were attentive to getting the job done efficiently and correct. I was outta there in less than 30 minutes, and even though I live on the east side of Sparks, I told Brian he'll be seeing me again. I highly recommend this shop for their professionalism at very reasonable rates. read more

I took my vehicle in for oil change and brake service. I brought a rebate coupon for Wagner® ThermoQuiet® brake pads/shoes and asked the agent to use that. He ended up using brake shoes from a different vendor. He also recommended brake fluid exchange for $71.99, headlight bulb replacement for $46.99 ($13.99 parts+$33 labor), and fuel system cleaning for 90.99. I bought two headlight bulb from amazon for $12.99, and it took me 2 minutes to change the bulb. The agent does not listen to customer instruction, try to push unwanted and over-priced services. I don't know how much I can trust this agent. I took the other vehicle for oil change at the same Tires Plus location. The agent told me that this vehicle had to use synthetic oil. I told him that this vehicle has been doing oil change in Tires Plus, and had been using normal oil. I asked him if he can look up the history and see why this is the case. So... In this case I did not mind that customer service was a little gruff. The same guy patiently helped me and others with tires and without the hard sell. He was direct and honest. And in the end friendly. I also liked their hours. All the other tire places are lazy and closed on Sunday's and by 6pm during the week. I'll be back to service our other car here. WOULD NOT GO BACK!! I took my car in because my check engine light came on, and I told them it was the o2 sensor. When I came back in, I saw a $100 diagnostic fee! They charged me $100 just to verify what I had already told them. Plus they called me and told me my car was ready, and when I get down there it wasn't. I had to wait another hour once I got there. They didn't even acknowledge me or apologize. Just made some lame excuse about why it wasn't quite done, even though they had just called and told me it was. No apologies, nothing to try and make it right, they just choose to act like I wasn't even there. I will never go back. read more

So I go online and look up oil change coupons find a coupon for a $19.99 oil change at Tires Plus. It's right by my house so I drive over. I walk in and there is a line of three people, one girl working the desk and one guy standing behind her watching what she does not helping her as she's taken 7 phone calls during this time. After 20 minutes I reach the front of the line and ask for an oil change and the lady at the front desk says they're all booked up today. The breaks on my truck needed to be replaced. I dropped it off and they called me after the inspection. Yup, front brakes were horrible. Rotors were bad too. I was told that I likely needed an alignment as they "saw some wear on the back tires." the alignment quote was about $25.00 to check the alignment and if they need an alignment the $25.00 would be applied to that cost. I got a call when the work was done.. only to hear what no one wants to hear. "Your truck is done but I misquoted you.. I gave you a quote amount for only one rotor". So to sum it up. They call and tell me what I need and give me a price. I agree, then they do the work and say oops. It's way more now! I go to pick up the truck and in the Bill is a full alignment charge.. I ask to see the before and after alignment specs.. guess what. There was no alignment ever needed. So the manger took off the full alignment charge but kept the "check to see if it needs and alignment " charge. When a mechanic tells a customer that they may need an alignment.. there should be a reason for it. They just scammed me for the extra 25.00. This place is dishonest, unorganized and has lost a customer.. all for up-sells and bait and switch business practices. We were traveling home from Black Rock when one of the tires on the RV trailer we were hauling completely shredded. We had purchased the trailer used a week before and apparently it had four car tires rather than RV tires. We quickly scrambled to find someplace on a Sunday where we could purchase 4 new RV tires so we could get home to the Bay Area safely. This Tires Plus location had them in stock and worked us into their already booked schedule. The manager and technicians were all very professional and extremely helpful. Although the location is convenient, I've never had such a hard time getting tires rotated. I call in advance and instead of scheduling an appointment I'm expected to drop off my car for as many hours as they are open. Three hours to wait for a tire rotation or three weeks for an actual appointment. I wish Firestone never sold their business to them. Every other location I can get an appointment right away? It doesn't matter the time of year either, I would call another location. There are three tire places within a mile and they are always booked? Kinda a joke. read more

This tire store has a policy in place that refuses to sell people a single tire if they have an all-wheel-drive system on their car. They are using the excuse that it could POSSIBLY damage the all-wheel drive if they install. They are using this excuse to upsell people 4 new tires. SHAME on them for taking advantage of people. They installed tires, did an alignment, and bagged my old tires so I could store until spring. They were very efficient and professional. I did watch the young tech hand tighten the lug nuts, and he even dressed the new tires. They now have a regular customer for all things related to my auto. read more

I've been having work done by these guys for years (oil changes, tires, trans service etc...). Recently had a complex repair done and came across a glitch. They more than made it right via discounted service and FAST follow up. After years of observation, I'd say "These guys really care about their customers" (an unusual trait in the automotive repair industry :). What a joke. Spent $800 with them and they treated me like trash. These guys will tell you everything you want to hear and then fail to deliver. I made an appointment to buy tires and get them installed. I told them I couldn't leave the truck for more than 3 hours and they assured me with an appointment I'd be fine. When I got there I asked them again and they promised me my truck would done in 3 to 3.5 hours max. I told the service person again that I had an important appointment, and needed the truck back after 3.5 hours max. I show up 3.5 hours later and they had just pulled the first 2 wheels of the vehicle. I waited another hour and missed a very important meeting. Furthermore, they charged me for fees for service they didn't provide. When I pointed this out the guy wrote "Free Oil Change" on the back of one of his cards to try and make up for it. I took 6 Tire Rack tires into Tires Plus (my wife's car, plus 2 off-car wheels) for mounting & balancing (they are a "Recommended Installer" for Tire Rack). After returning home, I noticed that both off-car wheels had no weights (unusual). I called Tires Plus, and their Service Advisor confirmed that installing tech "forgot" to balance both wheels. He recommended that I bring the 2 wheels back in so they could get it right the second time. Suspicious, I also checked for weights on my car's wheels, and found 2 without weights. I mentioned this to the Service Advisor, he stated that he was SURE all 4 on the car were balanced. I asked him to re-check those 2 wheels, and he 'declined'. Frustrated, I took the car to another local tire company, and they confirmed that the 2 'non-weighted' wheels on the car were out of balance, and needed balancing / weights. Mistakes happen, and that is not my issue. Yes, it cost me extra time, money, and mileage to confirm and correct Tires Plus's mistakes. However, the tipping point was their arrogant response and disregard for Customer Service (as well as safety). read more

My ride was late coming to get me, so they kept the shop open an extra 20 minutes so I could pick up my car. Without a doubt, they got a forever customer out of me!! Rep at Tires Plus tells me I have a nail in my tire and that the tire is not repairable. and... Would I like to buy a new tire ? no thanks. I drive immediately to Big O tires, and they plug the nail hole for $15. Tire, good as new afterwards. Tires Plus had told me that the hole was near the edge of the tire tread.. Turns out not true at all, and a blatant lie. Hole was near the middle of the tire and therefore easily repairable. Beware of this Tires Plus location.. thieves. read more

I had never been here before but I knew they did smog checks so I went in for a smog, oil change and for them to check a slow leaking tire. They didn't even take the tire off to look for holes, then they tell me I need FOUR more things done to my car costing $800 extra. I decide to go with their advice and get a new alternator belt ($107) and cleaning some fluid ($114), the other 2 things I say no to. THE NEXT DAY, the NEW $107 belt they put on is shredded and hanging from my car. I have to take my car to a closer tires plus because my car has no power steering and is over heating due to lack of belt. Took me 45 min to go 1.5 miles and I called and asked if there's anything they could do to help, they say no. We finally get the car to the new tires plus and they're mad because they're doing this service for free (new belt, clean off old melted belt), which means a mechanic is doing 2 hours of work for free, I'm mad, my father is mad. It was a lot of upset people, stress and almost the overheating of my car because the Northwest Reno Tires Plus couldn't take an extra minute and make sure the belt was on correctly. Mind you, my car was working just fine before I took it in for just an oil change and smog. I didn't have to pay for the second new belt, but I never did get offered a refund from the original $107 belt. Keep my money just so I will never have to deal with you people again. Left Sparks last night headed to Sacramento for my daughter's softball tournament. I took my wife's car, and before I left, asked her when her last oil change was. She didn't know of course, and I didn't notice until I got on the freeway that she was about 3,000 miles overdue. It was about 6:45 pm at this point, so I got off on the last McCarran Blvd exit in NW Reno to find a lube & oil place for a quick service before I crossed the Sierras. I found 2 places right off the freeway, the first one (Jimmy's) was already closed, but there was a Tires Plus in the same parking lot. I checked my phone, found out they do oil changes, so I whipped over there to get in before they closed at 7pm. I walked in the door at 6:51, the guy at the counter said they were about to close and there was NO WAY he could help me, even after I described my situation. Thanks dude! Appreciate the humanity there, not willing to stay an extra 10 mins to help a customer with 2 kids headed over the hill. It's not like I would ever even consider going to that store for anything else, being that they are on the other side of town anyways, but now I will go out of my way to NEVER go to another Tires Plus. Let me just start by saying THESE GUYS SUCK! And not a little but a lot. In the real world when you set an appointment, people who want your business strive to keep it. These guys could care less. And if you walk in, don't even expect to see your car pulled into the mechanic's bay for at least two hours. The aforementioned handlebar mustache guy is a jackass. I've been to these guys several times, just for convenience sake, and I must say, their service has never, ever left me satisfied. I had called several places in Reno to get prices and locate tires for my car, and was promised a call back. After waiting a few days, I tried yet another new place and talked with John at Tires Plus, he said he didn't have the tires, but he would check with the warehouse on Monday and call me back (yeah, ok). On Monday, I was pleasantly surprised to get a call from him, but he was not able to locate the tires I was looking for. He did have some ideas for finding them, and let me know I could have them sent to their location and they would put them on for me. I found the tires, had them sent, showed up at my appointment time, and was out within an hour. Great service! I was on a mini vaca in Reno and found a screw in my tire as I was preparing to head back home to the Bay Area. It was a Sunday afternoon and I had to be home to go to work early the next morning. I found this tire shop open on a Sunday and spoke to John. He said come in and we will get you fixed quickly so off we went. I have a Mercedes with what I thought to be special and expensive tires and was really hoping they could just fix it. Well it was on the side and the tire needed to be replaced. I panicked and thought they would have to order it and I would be stuck in Reno another day. Nope. He changed my tire for under $100 and I was in and out. John was friendly, straightforward and explained everything in detail. I watched john as he maneuvered many customers, phone calls and his staff. I'm not sure why they have appointment times when they don't stick to them. The man at the counter was VERY condescending. Apparently women aren't worth respecting. He asked us to wait a minute for a paper to print, so we sat down. He spoke loudly across the store saying 'we can't work on the car without the keys' as if we were supposed to just know he was ready after he asked us to wait. Another woman waited at the desk for at least 10 minutes without anyone coming to speak to her. Meanwhile, our car was finished and we had to wait for the keys for a good 15 minutes. Been bringing my two vehicles here for years, been very happy with the service. The manager John has been very helpful in not only quality service but also in answering all my questions to help me better understand what the problem and solution are. I've always felt comfortable in their work ethic and honest assessments. Months after getting a new tire, we ran over a key that punctured the tire, I brought it back in expecting to pay for a brand new tire. The guys looked up my account, reminded me I had the insurance and charged me less than $20! read more
