When you walk in the ambiance, you get the feel of the Philippines. It's very simple but nicely decorated to reflect the Philippines. It's bright, clean and welcoming. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable of the food. Ginataang tahong (mussels simmered in coconut milk), chicken inasal, tocilog and vegetable lumpia. The chicken inasal was delicious, tender and juicy; flavored just right. The vegetable lumpia was good but was a bit oily, but it is fried. The stand out was the mussels. I've been scheming to get back here after the wonderful intro Yelp event and finally found a good opening to take my very picky parents. We came here to celebrate my dad's birthday and ended up impressing my parents' palette! We ordered: BBQ pork skewers, sisig, pancit with tofu, chicken adobo. Everything looked amazing, was plated deliciously and tasted so so good. Portions were very reasonable and menu was clear and very appetizing. We came on a Friday night with a reservation but the speed of ordering and being able to eat was quite slow. Most of the tables were filled up and there was only 1 server so I get it. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our server comped our dessert as a birthday treat due to a miscommunication on the phone with a different worker so we all got to try halo halo! It was...quite strange! The shaved ice would work better if the flakes were snowy and not so chunky. We ended up putting the ice chunks on the side to avoid them, lol. The ube ice cream and random jelly chunks were fun to dig out! Another note is that the pancit upcharge for protein wasn't clear to us when ordering. We thought only the shrimp was $4 extra but that chicken or tofu would be included. Still fine that it's not but I would expect tofu or chicken to only be $2 or included since the cost is so much lower than shrimp. We would still totally come back to try the other dishes and best of all, my parents were very happy with their meal and discovery of this place. I have gotten catering for them once and dined in once. It is a mixed bag of experience. Some of dishes were phenomenal, and some were just okay. I am just going to talk about my dine in experience here. For appetizers, my boyfriend and I got the tokwat boy, chicken skewers and fish balls. The tokwat boy was basically crispy pork belly. They were very fat but extremely crispy. They went very well with the vinegar sauce. My partner really liked the chicken skewers. There was some char to them. The fish balls were tasty but looked a bit too pale to me. They would taste better if they were fried a bit longer. For entrees, my partner got chicken inasal and I got the tofu sisig. The tofu sisig was so salty. It was hard to eat. The chicken inasal was phenomenal. Next time we come in, we probably will avoid tofu dishes and just order different things to try out. They have some potentially great dishes, just some of the seasonings were a bit salty. read more

Arguably the current staple of Filipino cuisine in Cleveland, you cannot go wrong by trying and patronizing Tita Flora's. She represents Filipino cuisine pretty darn well. An easy go to for Filipino comfort food in CLE. The dining room is well decorated with an array of Filipino art and items on display. Very homey! I've tried many (probably most) of the item in the menu, plus some of their rotating socials. My favorites: for first timers, you MUST try the pork sisig: small slices of cubed pork belly seasoned with spices, chilies, mayo, and topped with a raw egg on a sizzling hot plate! Oh, I could eat this everyday if heart disease and heart attacks aren't a thing Adobo: you have your choice of chicken or pork over rice. Personally, I love the pork. But you can't go wrong with either one. Nothing too exciting about this dish in its looks and presentation, but if there is one dish that epitomizes Filipino cuisine, it's adobo. Yes, it's plain. But it's also just damn plain good! Noodles: gotta try the pansit bihon. They also have pansit canton - again, can't go wrong with either, but I prefer the bihon. Savory with just the perfect peppery complement. Kare kare: this is a beef stew with peanut sauce and vegetables. This is one of their rotating specials, so you won't find it on the regular menu. But if you're they're and they're serving this, TRY IT! Tender beef chunks swimming in that tasty peanut sauce, complemented by fresh and perfectly cooked veggies! Go ahead! There wasn't much else happening in this shopping center on a weekend, but reviews led me to this uncommon place. There aren't a ton of vegetarian-friendly Filipino restaurants, but when I've found them, it's always been an interesting experience. Here, I ended up with a tofu sizzler dish which came out piping hot and delivered a fantastic mix of sweet and savory notes with the occasional chili. I spent extra on getting a size of garlic fried rice, which was as delicious as you'd think. A raspberry tea served to watch things down. Having asked for a vegan dish, I saw no egg and no mayo highlighted on my check. And while the cuisine tends away from this direction, I think anyone who came here for a plant-based offering would feel just as indulged as anybody else. Writing this extra long review because I didn't take a single photo during yesterday's event. Yelp really outdid itself with this one, Sizzle and Sing was, without a doubt, the best Elite Event I've ever attended! From the moment we arrived, it was a cultural celebration bursting with flavor and fun. We were treated to a beautiful traditional Filipino kamayan feast!!! The long table was lined with delicious chicken, pork, noodles, rice, mango, and watermelon, all meant to be eaten with your hands! Gloves were provided for all of us, but the joy of sharing such a communal, grounding meal was everything. We ended the spread with sweet, crispy fried bananas that sealed the deal. Then came the karaoke, and it was on. Performer after performer brought the house down with classic American hits. There wasn't a shy soul in the room, and by the end of the night, everyone was up dancing like we'd known each other for years. And the desserts? I'm still dreaming about them. A small Filipino-owned business (I'll update with their name!) gifted us with polvoron, a traditional cookie that greets you at every port, and the most incredible ube (purple yam) brownies I've ever tasted. To me all Filipino food needs to be judged on their adobe. Tita Flora's passed with flying colors. For dessert, we shared the ube brownie and pistachio cake. The brownie was unrememberable I couldn't taste any ube. But the pistachio cake, yes please, and a slice to go! I didn't get a slice to go but I sure wish I had. A peefect spot right outside of Cleveland. The restaurant is honey feeling. The food is the star. Philipinno food is a wonderful combination of cultures. The noodles were delicately cooked and the seasoning was flavorful and not salty. The chicken was roasted well and had the perfect char. Honestly, I would totally order 5 orders of these and a side of garlic rice as a meal. The pork is so tender, the glaze is fantastic- it's sweet and salty, and the vinegar that comes with it balances it out perfectly. Pork Sisig is fire, it's a heavy dish with mayo and fatty pork but hearty and delicious with a bowl of rice. I love how it comes out in a sizzling hot plate. The Chicken Adobo is Tita's signature dish. The chicken is tender and falls straight off the bone. The sauce is full of collagen too! Ginataang Gulay is a coconut milk stew with green beans and pumpkin. You have the option to add shrimp but we kept it as is. We really liked this, creamy and so yummy. Getting Halo Halo for dessert is a no brainer. It's ube (Filipino purple sweet potato) ice cream over shaved ice with condensed milk and a variety of jellies and toppings. Always happy to try a cuisine that I have never eaten before, so I have had Tita Flora's on my list since it opened. Located in a small shopping plaza off of Brecksville Road I is a can't miss chance to try Filipino food. Although the restaurant is not huge it is set up with lots of room and feels both classy and casual at the same time; plenty of wood and nice accents make the room very welcoming. The menu is concise and features enough choices to make your mouth water. I ended up ordering the fish balls appetizer and the tofu Sisig to get a nice sample of what they offer. Service was prompt and friendly with the little touches like refilling water without being asked. The fish balls came out quickly; 6 balls on skewers with a spicy dipping sauce. The fish balls are ground white fish and then steamed; the result is a firm gel with a nice texture and mild flavor. The dipping sauce is a thickened sweet and soy-based sauce with an amazing spicy kick that lingers on the tongue. I really enjoyed these, a great start for the meal. Next up was the Tofu Sisig, a large serving of Tofu, onions, hot peppers, garlic and an egg on a sizzling platter. You mix the meal together to cook the egg on the hot platter. Eating it with the white rice makes for a wonderful meal since the platter and eggs make the tofu cooked crispy with strong and smoky flavor. One of the best tofu dishes I have ever had; plus it was a very filling meal. The flavors are a bit familiar and a bit different, but definitely very bold. I completely enjoyed my dinner at Tita Flora's; great atmosphere, wonderful food, excellent service and an overall good value. I'm so happy to have a Filipino restaurant in my neck of the woods! We followed their opening closely and visited for a Friday lunch the other day. Our waitress was attentive and more than willing to discuss Philipino food, language, and culture with us. As for the space itself, they need to change their sign to reflect the new business as I had trouble finding it. It is near the Independence post office with plenty of parking. The inside is well-decorated with an Island feel and has plenty of seats. Our food was fantastic and well-priced. We shared two orders of vegetable lumpas for appetizers and then ordered one chicken pancit, one tofu pancit, and one tofu sisig. My order was the chicken pancit, which had quality chicken pieces and the noodles were covered in a nice, tart sauce. We all also had more than enough left for leftovers! We were too full to get our much-wanted Halo Halo dessert to share but we plan on coming back soon and ordering it! Yum! read more

My dream has finally come true: an authentic Filipino restaurant in my neighborhood, owned and managed by some of the nicest people to walk this earth. I've seen a few restaurants that didn't last long in this same space so I pray to the restaurant gods that this place remains steadfast. Parking is a breeze in this strip mall (located in the back, next to the post office), the location itself not being visible off the Main Street can make this an easily missed target but please please please do NOT let this gem pass you by. Make that U turn baby and take a trip to my motherland. Being born and raised in Los Angeles, I've had my fair share of Filipino food (house parties, restaurants, catered events and in the Philippines as well). For Cleveland where the Filipino population is small but mighty, I am so happy to say that this place represents! My usual go to item is the pork sisig (highly recommend for new visitors) But tonight Tita Flora had two new featured specials that I could not resist. I used to abhor diniguan (pork stewed in pig blood) just knowing what it was and how dark it was such a turn off. But when I finally tried it, my eyes rolled back in ecstasy. It's savory, does not have any of that iron taste I expected in a blood stew, and atop the garlic rice: flavor explosion! Tonight also featured another dish, an entire deep fried tilapia topped with sweet and sour sauce. I could have sworn it was actually red snapper to be honest but it was juicy, tender and easy to debone when sharing it family style. Must also mention the pork bbq sticks we got as an appetizer, another one of my highly recommend items when I refer friends here. You get two sticks that have maybe 4-5 pieces of fatty pork. It's basted in a citrus, sweet, salty marinade that just yields this perfect protein snack. It comes with a peppery garlic vinegar dipping sauce that I just wanted to pour onto everything I ate (really enhanced that tilapia). This place just needs a karaoke set up for the fill Filipino atmosphere. They were out of the the sweet pork rice dish and the halo halo dessert, these were both things I had my eye on but it didn't matter because what I had was very delicious. I was sad to learn that there was no ube anything but my ube obsession is heavyyyy. My friend and I started with the fish balls appetizer and vegetable lumpia. We both got the sisig with pork, comes out on a hot plate and the raw egg cooks from there. We both got sides of garlic fried rice which went amazing with the dish but was delicious on its own as well. My guava juice in a can was a bit syrupy.
