I am overdue a review for this place. I arrived 5 minutes prior to my appointment, there is parking on the back of the place, easy access. This is a power couple run business, both husband and wife are great. I am extremely picky with getting my Japanese hair straightening, as I have been doing this for many years now, and I have had professionals treat my hair in Japan ever since, so I can tell when I find a good one. Tj delivers it, they know what they are doing, and helped my damaged hair from a different location I had tried before I found them. My hair was breaking off, dry and looked burned. They fixed it, and gave me good advice on how to help the damaged areas of my hair. I live far away from the store, I wish they were closer, but the result is worth the long drive. They are my go to for Japanese hair straightening from now on, I will definitely be going back for my periodically touch-ups. The store is clean and organized, great chilled atmosphere. This is by appointment only type of place, you will need to make an appointment, which helps so that you know your time slot you will be well taken care of. I use to go to them some ten years ago. Found them again since we're in town. Suprisingly, they remembered us. Husband and wife team for over 10yrs. Excellent service. Friendly couple. The place is maintained well. They get an extra star because they are Hong Kongnese and speak Cantonese and English (Mandarin as well, but I don't care for that particular language). In addition, he uses a scissor for mens hair vs. a razor like some places, which we dislike. He takes his time perfecting his job. Book your appointment and keep in mind, cash only. read more

Let me set this place up for you - a small clean simple hair salon owned by a husband and wife duo where one cuts and styles hair and another does the coloring. They handle EVERYTHING. The appointments, hair washing, and sweeping. There are no hair stylist assistants. There are no front desk person. Its just them and its perfect. I started coming here a couple years ago. At first it was just my hair and then I have gotten my hair colored by them as well. He gives me great layers and it always grows out very nicely. Sometimes to be honest, I like it even more as it grows out. The color done here for my hair has turned out nicely too. It's either highlight or all over color for me. People have commented on how they have liked it. (By the way, she gives the best hair washes!!) The prices are average and not what you find at say Super Cuts or something like that. Sorry forgot exact prices but a call to them couldn't hurt. Typically for me a hair cut is 30-35 and hair dye all over is 60s. It will be hard to get walk-ins because people book their time by appointments (remember, its just two of them!). Therefore, you'll have to plan accordingly if you want to check them out or in need of a haircut badly. They are close on Thursdays now and open all the days in the week. Lastly, they are so courteous and honest about what they could do or what is not a good idea for your hair. They make you feel welcome. CASH ONLY FOLKS! read more

The owners are super friendly. They are very attentive and make sure that you get the look you want. They are from New York and also speak Cantonese. They don't accept walk ins and schedule by appointment only. Once, I scheduled an appointment and it was at a later date than I wanted. I've been here several times, and this is the only place I'll go for a haircut. My hair is very thin and wavy, so it makes it hard for typical asian salons to cut my hair because they're used to the straight hair thick hair asians. But this salon does an amazing job! Short hair doesnt usually look good on me, but they know how to cut it! I only come here when I want my short hair cut because I usually cut it myself when i have it long. Great layers, it added volume to my hair. For those who aren't used to the asian layering, this might not be for you...Nothing against any culture, but asian salons tend to style for a different taste. Make sure you do your research beforehand so you know what hairstyle you're going for. Each cutting technique is different (asian vs. other american salons) The husband and wife are extremely nice, very respectful and understanding. Unlike other places I've been to that force some style on my hair that doesn't match my face shape simply because that's the only thing they know how to do. Just make sure to make an appointment. I just got my hair cut at TJ's today and have found my new favorite salon in Orlando... maybe even in all of Florida. After years of going to salons that didn't specialize in Asian hair, I finally searched up salons near me that could be the answer to my hair needs. I went in this morning and was greeted by both Anthony and Jojo, who are so friendly and easy to talk to. They listened to what I wanted for my hair and gave me the best haircut I've had in years! It's exactly what I requested and it looks so shiny and healthy. I will definitely be coming back in the future. TJ's is a gem in Orlando. If you're looking for a great haircut at a not so expensive place then this is the place to go! TJ has cut my hair once and my mother in laws hair once as well and we were both satisfied with our haircuts. The owners truly care about their clients and take time to hear about what they want. I think this shows in the fact that they only take one client at a time so it's very individualized. There's no rush because they schedule to where there's enough time for everybody. Salon is very clean. Husband does the haircuts and his wife does all the chemical work. It sucks that they only take cash though which can be inconvenient since card is widely used nowadays.... I've been on the hunt to find somewhere to make my default hair salon, and I think this is the one! I live about an hour away and couldn't find anything that fits my preferences there, so I headed to Orlando. As all the other reviews say, it's important to make an appointment and to bring cash. I have (had) long hair, and the price was $35 (excluding tip) for a wash and cut/style. I wasn't sure what style I wanted, just that I wanted my hair shorter. The owner is very kind and recommended to me what is currently popular now, and I am very happy with the results! Some other tidbits of info: I called ahead to make sure about parking, and they said to park in the back of the building. I think the side lot actually belongs to another office building, so beware of being towed if you park there! Also, I believe the owners said they are from Hong Kong, and said they are fluent in Cantonese as well as English (but no Mandarin). I'm really glad I found this salon, and I will gladly drive the distance to come here and get my hair cut again. read more

While contemplating on getting highlights last August, I was searching for an asian salon who knew how to properly color thick, black asian hair like mine, as a DIY job or a bad salon usually will end up a brassy disaster. I settled on TJ Hair Station. When you first walk in, you notice the cute yellow seats and modern looking set-up of the salon. There are Asian pop culture magazines available full of cute outfits and whatnot. Background: They are very experienced in the hair industry and had a salon in New York for about 10 years before moving down here for Orlando and have been open either 6-8 years now here. They are both a lovely and friendly Chinese couple. The wife of the owner was the one to do my hair. She washed and blowdryed my hair so the hair color would stick better and I showed her a picture of what I wanted. I specifically asked too if my results were going to get brassy, and she said no. She uses a high quality German hair brand dye (I forgot the name) to use on clients. I was shown a huge color book with all the swatches of hair colors. She picked out for me the ashe brown blonde to highlight my hair with, as black hair will not left color with medium brown or dark brown. The whole process took about 1.5 to 2 hours, but she worked fast through my many layers of hair since it is very thick. She did not make my highlights chunky or too thin, just perfectly in the middle ending with a natural result. I payed $75 plus $15 tip, but I agreed it was worth the job well done and not risk having brassy hair (depending on your hair length the price can be from $50-70; my hair was very long btw). I ended up coming back in two months for a fresh cut and hairstyle by her husband, who was really quick in doing my hair and blowdryed it with lots of volume! Their blowdry cut and style is $30, a great deal! I highly highly HIGHLY reccomend this place! I will be coming back soon to get a new color for my hair! Anthony and his wife are very efficient in what they do. His wife shampoos your hair and she's in charge of the hair color part; while Anthony cuts/styles hair. I have fine Asian hair and everytime I go to this salon, I just show him a photo of the style I want and he always nails the cut! He takes his time on every customer which I always appreciate. This is the first hair place I've ever gone to where I fully trust the stylist to do exactly what I ask for. And he'll show you what he'll do before he cuts, just so you're on the same page.Too many times I've been to places that cut my hair too short, even when I ask for just half an inch off. The owners are the nicest people. I always feel comfortable here, and I have great conversations with them. I get my hair cut here maybe once every few months, and they always remember me and ask me what I've been up to lately. The price point is perfect and absolutely reasonable. I've been to some "high-end" salons to charge for haircuts based on the length of my hair and even charged extra to touch up the cut after blow drying, which is ridiculous. Absolutely love this place! The staff is very accommodating to your personal preferences and pays very close attention to your needs! The salon itself is very clean and modern. It really reminds me of the nicer salons in Japan that I used to visit especially with the Korean and Japanese music in the background. All I asked was for a simple combover, side short and length on the top. While he did keep my sides short, he cut into my hair taking about a large amount of volume I had without asking. To add to this, he failed to give me a half-decent combover and had me leave with the right side of my hair sticking out. The top left of my hair is ok but my right side was too long. Now I can't even attempt a hairstyle as now my hair is not correct at all. Even when I left the salon my the long part of my hair was sticking out to the sides. read more

One of the worst haircuts I have ever had in my life! The man there is so rude to the customer. I was the last customer of the day so he tried to finish the haircut quick, pulled several hair off. In general, had a really bad experience. The chair was also full of hair when I sat on it. When he was removing the apron, he almost flipped the entire apron so all the hair went on my clothes.
