Leann is one of the nicest cashiers I have run into at a department store before. She is always so present, kind and engaging. Every time I am at this location she will offer a compliment or start a conversation about one of the objects I am buying. I picked up a DevaCurl product that was on the clearance rack in the beauty section, although it didn't have a price tag. I figured the cashier could price it for me appropriately. When Leann called over her "manager" I assume, she asked me where I got it, and if there was another on the shelf. There wasn't as it was in the clearance section. She took it from Leann and said "she won't be getting this," with a nasty tone. I guess 5-8$ for a clearance product is just too much to risk in this economy... I am from out of town and I have been to many many TJ Maxx stores. This one is by far the worst one. There is no such thing as customer service. The register "lights" are on, but no one is home. That goes both ways. Either they have no clue or they are just not present. I have complained to management time and time again, and they say it's a STAFFING problem. Every time I'm in this place there's hardly any registers open. Maybe it's time to get self checkout registers. Today there were seven employees behind the registers and only two actually rang people up while the line kept growing and growing and growing. This tj maxx has plenty of parking in the area and other stores and food options too. Theres a lot to offer here and the store already has the Christmas items set up. I got pretty wrapping paper and some hair items. The restroom here is very clean and staff is nice snd friendly. My only complaint is that the store should be a bit more neat and organized. It was hard to go through certain aisles with the shopping card because things were blocking. Otherwise, i would come back for sure because i liked the variety or items they offer read more

I had a very unpleasant experience at this TJ Maxx location today. I went early in the morning to return an item with my receipt, expecting it to be a quick and simple process. Unfortunately, the cashier who assisted me, David, had a very rude and unprofessional attitude. His tone was unfriendly and he seemed very impatient while helping me, which made the whole interaction uncomfortable. Customer service is extremely important, especially for employees working at the front desk. Experiences like this really affect how customers feel about coming back. There are many other stores nearby, and good service make a big difference in where people choose to shop. I hope management can improve the customer service experience at this locatio. read more

I tried to return two dresses that my wife purchased online. The email that we received from TJ Maxx said we can return it at store level with no asterisk next to store level. We go in and speak with Charles who's the store manager and he said it has to be returned by us through FedEx. He was very condescending and dismissive. He just walked away from us because he had something to do and said I'm not talking anymore. The top portion of the email says return at store level but as you scan down the tone of the email changes to we have to return it on our own. 20 people on line, 1 cashier. Manager...'on a conference call' or some such nonsense. It took almost an hour to check out and some on line simply abandoned their items and left. This was midday...the busiest time in this store. Numerous requests to said one cashier, who basically ignored everyone...no answer. Finally two more people turned up....the cashier that checked me out said that although the store is chronically understaffed they haven't hired anyone. Just a note...I'm retired and applied myself about a year ago. Never heard from them, though some rocket scientist did call my phone and didn't bother to leave a message. I went here to try to find some shoes for a wedding but they didn't have too many shoes to browse. The purse selection was also okay. If you decide to shop for jewelry at this location, make sure to check the item and any tags closely. I purchased a pair of 14K gold earrings at this store and when I got home, I noticed that one of the clasps was loose. I returned to the store the next day to return the item, only to be told that their price tag did not match the item. I had paid $149.99 plus tax for the 14K gold earrings. Apparently the tag had "tricolor gold" printed on it. I had to speak with 2 associates and 2 managers. The first manager never looked at or spoke to me directly, she merely looked at the item, the receipt, and the tag, and loudly said, "this says tricolor and these are NOT tricolor". When I attempted to speak to her, and I said they should check their camera from the day before, she did not look up, she just walked away. The main store manager was called to the counter, all while they kept the earrings and receipt (and the money I had paid) out of reach behind the counter. When the store manager, John, came out, I reminded him that I spoke to him several days before when I first came into the store and noticed the earrings but could not get anyone's attention to have a look. He refunded my money, apologized, and gave me a $20 gift card, which I handed to my child. Their staff needs retraining. I have been coming to this TJ Maxx for a long time and each experience with the employees has been quite well. Expect for one. There is a cashier by the name of either Ebony or Essence who has long black braids and is very impolite. When a family member of mine went to her register, there was another item of clothing there. My family member put her item down and politely mentioned to Ebony or Essence that the other item was not theirs. The cashier proceeded to ignore my family member's statement, so they reiterated the statement again just in case she didn't hear. Ebony or Essence rudely remarked "I heard you the first time." Well, if Ebony or Essence did, then the proper human response would be acknowledged what was said, no? She continued to give my family member attitude until my family member decided to just leave the items since she couldn't deal with an unruly employee. I was there witness to the whole thing and was in shock. I can't believe this establishment would allow an employee to be so brazenly disrespectful, especially to customers who have frequented this location for years! Even the female manager did not do anything, which was very disheartening. I think it would be best for this location to train their employees on how to properly speak to their customers. I feel so incredibly bad for the people who work at this TJ Maxx and have to deal with Terri. Terri is the assistant manager who walks around with her name tag tucked (probably because she rude to customers). While I was browsing in the Halloween section, I placed a Halloween headband back down in the section. This old woman approached me and abruptly asked me what the item was, when I stated that it was a headband, she snatched it away and said "well that's not where it goes" And quickly scurried away huffing and puffing. I was absolutely mortified to find out that she was the assistant manager. Frankly, I do not care how old or tired you are, It's not my job to put merchandise back where it "belongs" and there's no need to be rude about it. I've been going to this TJ Maxx for years and I've never had this issue or even seen her around. But if you see an older woman, scurrying around with her name tag tucked in and an elastic band Rolled up on her arm with a key on it, I would avoid her at all costs. I've shopped at this location for many years. Probably since I was a teenager. This store is very sloppy but just like a thrift store, you can find a very good bargain ! They carry a lot of baby items here. I previously bought a winter coat for $20 for my daughter, a pair of high waist vintage wash distressed shorts today for $12.99 and Kate Spade Bluetooth headphones for $29.99. Clearance items are always a good way to score a deal here also. I think their shoe racks are pretty good during the week. A little bit more organized with precise ranging from $24.99-$60 a pair. They carry a lot of New Balance and more geriatric styles than anything. The Juniors clothing racks have more stylish selections than the Women's department. I can still fit into Juniors so I usually browse to see if there are any Zara or French Connection on the racks. read more

This one always feels a bit empty, like it's missing a lot of the fares you come to expect in this breed of hodge-podge retail. Every section feels a bit thin- slim pickings in athletic wear, slim pickings in kitchen gadgets, essentially nothing for homewares. The back of the store always feels like a tornado ripped through it. I generally avoid this location because I generally leave empty-handed. read more

I do not usually shop at this location as I live in Westchester county. I was visiting a friend and we had lunch nearby and decided to go in and browse and do a return I had in the car. Why not right ? Wrong! Worst mistake I could've made. The store was a mess, there was stuff on the floor, abandoned carts, merchandise all misplaced and disorganized. I decided it was to messy for me to shop but i did pick up some cleaning products. Waited on a super long line and when I got to the register one of the managers Lisa M was at the register. I explained I had a return and I'd like to buy the cleaning products. This should've been a simple transaction but it was definitely not. She was very rude didn't even say hello. I handed her my receipt and a cologne and a candle. She took my items and came back saying the items did not match and accused me of putting the wrong tickets on the items! I explained that the items and the receipt matched and this is how I purchased the items. She told me that she can't trust that and to take them to where I purchased them from! She was completely unprofessional and just disrespectful and walked away and left me standing there. I did contact TJ corporate customer service and I also took the items to my local TJ and had no issues. This place is being poorly managed and is honestly embarrassing to the TJ Maxx brand! I worked on this location long long long long time ago. It is a small store but full of brand name choices from clothing to housewares at very good prices. Just put little of your time and you'll definitely get some good deals. You are in luck when there are new set of merchandise out on the floor-grab one right away while sizes are in stock. I am surprised of its new floor layout and the cashiering system. Oh well. They have layaway service when I was working here. Not sure though if they still have the service. I love me some T.J.Maxx!!! I've been in this location maybe 2-3 times and it's always a walk in walk out because it's so packed with people and the line is always so long. It is a larger T.J.Maxx and I'm sure I'd find lots to buy but I just can't do the crowds of people and long lines. This location has a parking lot that is shared with Minado. The few times that I have been there, it has been well-organized, however, there are not that many staff members around to assist. But everything is self-explanatory, there are signs everywhere directing you where to go. All items have a price tag, and even if it did not, you can bring it to the register when you're ready to checkout. If you don't like the price, just tell them to leave it out. This is a nice place to go to when there's a long wait in Minado. I wouldn't be coming here if it was not conveniently located to one of my favorite restaurants. Next time I go to Minado, I'll come again. Good prices and well organized store, unlike other department stores in Manhattan or Queens since there are a lot more people. read more

I had a bit of time to kill before my next engagement, so I wandered into this TJ Maxx hoping to find a good bargain, or at least be able to spot a bargain. What did I find? I totally waste of time. I really wonder how they stay in business. I was looking in the homeware section, and in the past, I was able to find some interesting things for cheap. But this place is scary. I mean, how can you see BPA-free water bottles without their caps? None of the water bottles had caps on them? WTF? Many of the books looked like they were in worse condition than library books. Everything was a huge mess in the home ware section. Thier managers should be ashamed that their store looks like this. I really enjoy shopping here. I've been shopping here for a few years now and always find the prices to be competitive. Yes, there have been occasions where to store gets messy, I don't particularly care for that but I seen that in so many retail locations it's sad to say that doesn't bother me. No, I'm not a slob at home. The kitchen accessories department usually has some pretty cool things. I do a lot of my Christmas shopping at TJ and usually find most of what I'm looking for. Shopping at TJ's is fun for me, I've been to the other locations around Long Island but this one is my favorite. I initially stopped in here to see if I could find a new wallet. I was very disappointed with the selection of wallets, everything was thrown all over the place and in total disarray. What wallets I could find were either ripped, broken, or made more for a teenager as oppose to an adult. I decided since I could find a wallet maybe I would browse around for potential Christmas gifts. I stopped in another section of the store that sold bath product sets and glasses. While it smelt nice in this area because of the scents soaps this area was also in complete disarray and a lot of the bath products had been opened making in potential buys impossible. I then tried my luck in the clothing section, mainly looking for sweaters. I was impressed by some of the sweater I saw because they very pretty and to my liking. The sweater section was arranged by size and for the most part they were in order. The staff at the registers were very nice and friendly despite the store being a bit crowded. The cashier did not make you feel rushed as if you were just another sale to them. I would return here to shop because of the clothing styles I just hope on my next visit the store is a little more tidy and organized. read more

I had to return my Kate Spade bag. I had no receipt. I told them i would take a credit. Manager dont know her name it was on Tuesday June 19th at 9pm refused to give me a credit. She said i need a reciept. Not true! The very next day i went to another TJ Maxx and they had no problem issuing me a credit. The Manager was nasty and just basically waived her hand at me as to go. I gave them an extra star (or half a star) just because I found a nice Nike Golf long sleeve shirt that's over 80% off manufacturer's list price. As for the men's section (compared to Marshalls) it was small and consisted of the corner of the store. Although, other TJ Maxx stores seems to have the same small men's section. The place seemed clean but the lines were pretty long and I was on it for a few minutes even with most, if not all, of the registers open. read more
