Unacceptable. About six people in front of me and it still took 30 minutes to check out. Only two cashiers were working. A manager opened a register, then walked out the door instead of helping. Two other employees stood behind the counter wandering around, touching clothes, and pretending to work while the line grew to 25+ customers. I finally had to speak up and demand another cashier. The clothes aisles are too narrow. Either have NO shopping carts or make the aisles wider. It is really hard to go through clothes and here comes a woman barging down the aisles with a cart. Thank God they don't have them at Macy's. read more

I am a TJ Maxx girlie. Before I head to Target, Ulta Beauty or Sephora , which by the way, are all within a mile of this location, I always stop here first! I even stop here before I look on Amazon Prime. There is home decor, skin care products, make up, hair care products ( all hair types ) , basically everything you need. Some of the things I have gotten here that deal with hair and skin care feel like such a steal! I've gotten a $28 dollar Morphe palette for only $12 here , Korean skin care products that I usually get, for half the regular price! I have naturally curly hair and the hair products that I use, are more than half the price here ! When I recently stopped by, there were name brand coats here for more than half off and I love the candle section here. The pricing you definitely can't beat. I also enjoy that the line isn't ever too long and it goes pretty fast which always makes me think they're fully staffed lol. read more

Andrea C. Was so nice and patient while helping me try on several pieces of jewelry. She was happy to help and didn't mind showing me all the pieces I wanted to see. Her manager or shift leader, was very rude and snapped at her to get back to the cash registers while she was barely checking out mine and my friends purchase. Clearly she saw Andrea packaging our jewelry while the other jewelry associate helped ANOTHER customer and we hadn't even swiped our card yet and it wasn't even 30 minutes to closing... Came here early Friday morning about 15 minutes before opening, at about 2 minutes before opening an employee was walking in from the parking lot and someone inside opened the door for them to go inside the store, the employee who had opened the door looked at me and said you got 1 more minute to wait, I said ok thank you. A bit later someone had walked up behind me and the same employee inside who had opened the door not a few seconds earlier for the other employee opened the door again, I wasn't sure if she was letting another employee in or actually opening the store. The employee then looked at me and said "well are you going to just stand there or are you going to come in" in my head I was like wowwwwwwww! I apologized to the employee and advised I wasn't sure if she was opening the store or letting another employee in, I then entered the store. The whole incident put a bad taste in my mouth. I've been on a K-Beauty kick, so I decided to test my luck at this location. Good selection all around of skin care. Most of the coveted K-Beauty items were out on the shelves but in the protected plastic security cases. I found some Round Lab, Abib, and Innisfree, and Some By Mi. I was hoping to find Skin1004 or Anua products, but no such luck. Regardless, I'm happy with what I found and went home with! Well checking out other reviews, I didn't know what to expect. It's been a very long time since I've been inside a TJ Maxx. We lucked out with parking right in front. As soon as we walked in we noticed this is a very clean store. They had a lot of brand name items. Kenneth Kole Michael Kors, Juicy Culture etc. They had a really nice selection of luggage as well. In the back they have a decent high end food section at discounted prices of course. That is probably my favorite section. Decent selection of honey, candies , spices and coffee etc. They have a small toys section too for the kids. Prices were really good I saw discounts as much as 60 percent off retail. Checkout was quick and painless. Employees were nice as well. We will be back. read more

Nice selection of items to choose from. This place has definitely improved compared to how it was in the past. The employees are better at keeping items organized and they now have cameras in the beauty department to assist in lost prevention. I think it's great that they're bumping up security in the store because in the past, there was an issue with stealing and I would go to the beauty section only to find empty packaging being sold. They have a decent selection of everything and are always coming out with new items. Found some cute earrings for a good price! read more

TJMaxx is my fave go to spot for retail shopping. I always find great things, brand names from shoes. Handbags, perfumes , accessories and home stuff. I'm obsessed with Michael Kors brand, Kate Spade and CK and so this is the place I shop. Why should I pay for the full price? Amazing deals, prices are unbeatable. Overall awesome store, I go to all TJmaxx and Marshalls (sister company) good CS and they are more organized than Ross (I don't like Ross stores! Too messy) I really like the Carlsbad location they have better top brand names selections. It was a terrible experience from the person at the door to the person at the cashier. Everyone seems so mean this Holiday Season. I understand that they have to work, but that is a choice they made for their lives. I have asked for help at the bags section. All the Michael Kors bags where locked. I have asked for helped and the woman came opened it up. I asked why they were locked. She mentioned that there a lot of Section 8 people and homeless people who now lives around area. I asked what does section 8 and homeless people had anything to do with the fact that the Michael Kors bags were locked. In the beginning, she could bot respond and then said, for security reasons. It sounded very prejudice. On the other, the cashier was not very inviting nor happy to help. Understand the stress and feel bad that they have to work during the holidays. But again, it is a matter of choice. My sister who is not from here felt uninvited and would not want to come back to this store. I can't really say much about this TJ Maxx other than the fact that they don't carry much of a selection here. During a recent visit, I found myself repetitively going back to the same aisles over and over again, despite doing several rounds throughout the store, looking for good deals. Though there were 1-2 items I had been eyeing, I didn't find the prices to be justifiable knowing that I had seen them for cheaper at another discounted competitor's store. As for social distancing measures, I'd say they only really enforce it outside of the store before you're allowed to enter. Everyone does have their mask on while shopping. The cashiers are spread apart, but I can't really say the same for the customers who are waiting in line to check out. The only thing that's great about this place is the location being convenient to those who live in the Eastlake/Chula Vista area. Other than that, I'd say the selection of items here could be better. read more

I used to love going to TJ Maxx. When I shopped during the pandemic, the store has changed a lot. I'm glad they tried to have the layout to keep 6 feet social distancing but when other people are not wearing their masks, staff aren't making it mandatory to use hand sanitizers, no way to wipe down shopping carts, and staff isn't enforcing the masks in the store... it becomes a major health concern and hazard. They have limited clearance section and the store looks very clean & clutterless (staff is constantly fixing the shelves). My other concern is that how often people are touching things especially their Halloween display had "try me" on it. Kids were constantly touching it and the only hand sanitizer available in the store was in the front of the store or in the body care section (unopened and used for retail purchases). The bathroom soap dispenser wasn't working. There were two of them in there. I informed one of the staff members, they said it takes a while for the sensors on the dispenser to respond. Also, the toilet doesn't flush automatically, you have to flush it manually. At least the faucet was touchless. read more

No wonder the low reviews. Went with my fiancé to pick up some hangers and cleaning supplies. I felt a weird vibe as if we were followed around the store specially if we were near their emergency exit doors on the back. The last thing I want to feel after driving 30 minutes to the store is feel trates as I was a bad person. We're we being prejudge by our outfits? I felt so. Time to check out, cashier Aaron couldn't be any more dry and unfriendly and didn't even offer the credit card they always offer lmao. Didn't even say hello. There was a woman behind me checking on me and my fiancé. It was a very odd situation. Based on what? As Aaron was packing up my items, he would not even hand them over to me in order to be placed on my cart as EVERYONE ELSE DOES as if I was a thief and walk away withOUT paying!! He was literally holding one of the bags on his hands and waiting for me to pull out my card and then after he saw I have a TJ max credit card then he put that one bag closer and the other ones STAYED way back near him . After I PAID I had to bend over and stretch my arms to reach because he wouldn't even put it close to me. THE CUSTOMER! While I was getting my products scanned a woman was behind Aaron as supervising me it was so weird honestly never going back to this ratchet location. Eve after I paid she was overseeing the whole payment as well and gave me a weird smile after I paid. Aaron was only talking to his coworker and complaining about the same music over and over. Wow! This TJ Maxx has some good stuff! They have a lot of fantastic brands here at awesome discounts. They sell a lot of high-end makeup too like Becca, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Stila, MAC etc. I was able to snag a highlighter palette for cheap! My favorite find here was Good American Jeans! The one that Khloe Kardashian created! It's a newer brand so I'm shocked they even had it! It retail's at Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom for a little under $200 and I got it on clearance for $55! Woo! My fave TJ Maxx location so far and the plaza it's in looks nice too! read more

I just don't make enough to buy expensive stuff. I can never buy any clothing from here. I am a little on the plus side. Not too much to choose from. I went to the purses to look and they had nothing I liked. I did find some cute earrings but put them back because they cost $20.00 for one pair of earrings. I also went to the shoe section and there was a small selection there as well. I ended up walking out with nothing. I just came to browse. I can never purchase anything from this location. The staff left me alone and didn't say anything. I like this store, it gives you the chance to make the right decision. Made my decision, and put back the suitcases in their rightful places. In case you are not familiar with TJ Maxx, they sell name brand items at a severe discount. The have home, kitchen & bathroom items, clothes, perfume/cologne, small electronics, a small pet section and shoes. I am writing from a dude's perspective. There are enough female reviews on here. Reasons to go: 1) It is best to not look for anything in particular (which goes against mad law) but you can get Polo, Perry Ellis, Lucky, Calvin Klein, Adidas, Nike, Under Armor, and many other brands of jeans, shirts, sports gear, underwear for DIRT cheap. 2) You can get your wife/significant other a last minute gift for affordable prices. 3) Their staff is consistently competent and helpful with decently fast-moving lines. Reasons to avoid: 1) This treasure is found in the absolute worst parking lot in all of Eastlake. The 'non-traffic' times are few and far between because it is near a Pier 1, Sprouts, Trader Joe's, and a boat-load of fair-to-good eateries. This parking lot is where fun goes to die. 2) The men's section in the store is relatively small. It is not worth the trip to come here just to shop for yourself, guys, but it is a bonus if your wife/S.O. takes you to the area. read more

Remind me not to come to the Eastlake TJ Maxx location again for at least a few months, because I'm consistently disappointed, and a rude employee left a little annoyed after shopping here tonight. I had an unfinished review saved from my last visit, when I planned to leave a 3 star review due to this location having significantly more opened/empty product packages on the shelves than other TJ Maxx locations, but tonight, there were far less empty or open packages than in the past, so my review would have been bumped up to 4 stars.... except now it's the customer service that's lacking. I gathered up a few purchases both for myself and as gifts for others, then made my way to the check-out. The line was slightly longer than usual thanks to the holiday shoppers, but every register was open, so the wait was short, and soon it was my turn. I walked up to the open register, and the cashier was so busy talking and laughing with another employee that she didn't even look at me as I laid all my items on the counter. She continued chatting with her coworker as she started scanning my items, and was 2/3 through scanning before she finally glanced at me for the first time and muttered a robotic, "Did you find everything okay?" I smiled and took a breath to reply, but she didn't even hear me say "Yes, thanks", because she'd immediately returned to chatting with her coworkers before the words even passed my lips. The next time she bothered to turn her head in my direction was as she was scanning the last item, because upon glancing at the phone case with winter deer printed on it (I love deer; I couldn't resist), she decided it was appropriate to tease me about the phone case by smirking slightly and stating in a mocking tone, "Awfully into the Christmas spirit..." Half a second later, she was looking at the employee beside her again, and mumbled my total before rejoining her previous chat. I swiped my card, and when I looked up from putting it away in my wallet, she was standing there holding my receipt close to her chest while engrossed in her conversation. I waited a moment, expecting that she was about to hand me the receipt, since at this point, every other TJ Maxx employee I've ever interacted with has asked if I want the receipt with me or in the bag, then uttered the usual "Thanks for shopping!" as they prepare for the next customer... but I'd already ceased to exist to her. As I gathered my bag off the counter, I finally just had to reach across the counter and pull my receipt out of her hand while she laughingly continued her chat, too distracted talking to even bother giving it to me. I get being bored at work. I get being tired of holiday shoppers. I get wanting to talk to coworkers one gets along with and wanting to continue an amusing non-work-related conversation. I get it, I do. I've worked customer service and cashier jobs, and I've worked the holidays (including Thanksgiving, Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, New Years, etc), so I know it's tiring and that she'd probably rather be anywhere else but at work. But as a cashier, one puts conversations on hold while dealing with a customer for a few moments--at the very least pausing the chat long enough to greet/look at the customer, complete the transaction (stating total, accepting payment, handing customer the change/receipt), and politely end the interaction (even just saying "Thank you" while handing off the receipt is enough). I mean, if you only want to pay enough attention to make fun of customers while otherwise ignoring them and hanging out with coworker friends, then go apply at MAC Cosmetics where they're apparently notorious for that. Don't make TJ Maxx look bad by being rude. Giving 2/5 stars instead of 1/5 because TJ Maxx itself is great and affordable, so I'm satisfied with my purchase and my pre-checkout shopping experience, even if the cashiers have turned me off coming to the Eastlake location again any time soon. read more

I enjoy that there is a TJ Max in Eastlake but find the store to be smaller than other locations. The smaller store size has limiting selection but the friendly staff and fast+easy check out lines make it worth visiting at least monthly. P.S. go visit the Koi carp fish and turtles nearby and feed them some 25 cent Cheerios from the vending machine. So fun and delightful to watch them live their life in such a peaceful pond. I was expecting too much from this location. It's "Eastlake", the "nicer" part of the southern part of San Diego but this TJ Maxx location falls short of what I imagined this place to be. First of all the first thing that I noticed was the parking. WHAT A PAIN IN THE YOU KNOW WHAT. The parking lot does not accommodate the traffic of people that visit this area. IT'S ANNOYING. As I walked into the store, the next thing that I noticed were the high ceilings in the store and thought to myself "Oh, this might be a good trip down here.", unfortunately that thought was quickly shot down by the comment my Mom made, "This store is so SMALL". It IS small. My brother was telling me that he was looking for the t-shirts in the store on the men's side... And in any other location there are usually more than 3 racks of shirts that a person would have to riffle through to find that one shirt that makes something in their head go "BOING". But in this store, they had THREE pegs on on the wall with maybe 9 shirts to choose from. LAME. The shoe section is small. The accessories section is small. ALL SECTIONS ARE SMALL, so disappointing. I expected more in Eastlake. So, as I'm walking around looking to see if there's anything that would catch my attention, I notice that there's an elevator, WHAT, A SECOND FLOOR?! SCORE!!! My Dad done looking around and searching for something else to do other than sit down and wait for my Mom to finish browsing, we decided to take a ride on the elevator and see what other adventures we could entertain ourselves with. So we hit the number 2 and listened to the rumble of the lifting machine and when the noise stopped, we found ourselves in some kind of employee restroom, dining area and warehouse area, NOT the type of adventure I was looking for. They could at least mark some where that it's an "Only Employee" elevator. The lines at the register are what you would expect at any discount store. Staff was friendly but you could see the frustration in their eyes. The store just opened 3 days ago and it seems as though the Grand Opening hype hasn't died down. The Gist: The store is small. Selection is not great. Unless I was in the area, I'd rather go to the Rosecrans location. Scratch that, I don't think that I'd ever go to this location EVER unless they had something in stock that wasn't available at another location and had to pick it up here, that would be the only time that I would go to this location. read more
