I have been going to Macy's since I was a kid back in Texas. This store has been around for ever and there's always good deals. At this location it is found inside of the Otay Ranch Mall so parking is vast. Once inside you have the scent of the store and perfumes and colognes. There is so much to see ranging from cloths, colognes, makeup and suits. There's also the Macy's card that saves you money, which is usually around 20% discount. The customer service is good and there is usually an employee around to help you with any questions asked. There is always good deals going around and decent discounts and with the Macy card discount you get even better deals! So if you're looking for a good place to shop with great discount Macy's is one of the best bets! read more

I was in this store on Saturday at the MAC makeup counter and was approached by a very nice rep, Stacy! Stacy (Australian accent) , was so nice and informative, she talked me into buying some lipstick that I didn't know existed by Mac, it was the powder lipstick, the best lipstick ever, so smooth!! Stacy also followed up with me to see how I liked what I purchased, and to let me know if anything else is needed, please feel free to reach out to her!! I like this Macy's simply because it is the cleanest of all the ones in this area. There is always parking which is a huge plus and the employees are very friendly. On occasions the signage can be confusing. Most racks had s 30 percent off sign but they were for only some brands. It was a VIP sale for brands that rarely go on sale. We picked out a few items from various racks that had the 30 percent off sign, only to find out they were not on sale. One of my photos will show the sign and how confusing it is. We ended up not buying those items and shopping elsewhere. Oh well not the end of the world but marketing needs to do a better job in transparency. They now carry the Thalia brand as well. That's worth checking out. On a plus side their website is very user friendly but doesn't apply to this store review. We'll be back read more

I shop at this Macys pretty frequently when I am looking for dress shirts or certain shoes. Their selection is fairly good and the prices can be pretty good with sales. On clearance the other day I picked up a bed comforter that was normally $120 for $24.99. Guessing the next line of comforters were coming out so they wanted to get rid of these. Can't find a better deal than that. I'd consider these one of my go to stores for a little bit more upscale clothing for events or work or stuff for the home. read more

I decided to come here to see what they had. I needed a Clinique eye cream for my dark circles. I was helped immediately and the lady was super nice and helpful with questions I had. I also bought my daughter a pretty spring dress and a couple of pieces of clothing. They have some sales but you have to dig deep. The store was clean and organized inside. I love the makeup section. I was tempted but I managed to stick to purchasing the clothing for my daughter. This Macy's isn't as busy as the one in the Chula Vista mall. I like this location more because the workers actually pay attention to you when you need assistance. I will be back. Pretty good selection here as well. read more

Average Macy's that I dropped to 1* because there is only ONE shared bathroom in the entire second floor!!! This is Macy's for crying out loud. How can you only have one shared restroom in the entire floor??? Would've been 3* or 4* but I am reluctant in giving it anything higher. Now there is a long line for the bathroom. I like this Macy's for the most part. The parking is excellent. It's very clean and organized. Nevertheless the Childrens department or lack there of the childrens department is horrible. It's without an doubt understaffed and under stocked. It took me 10 minutes to find an open customer service station on the 2nd floor and I have to check out in the Men's department. They clothing/ accessories for children (boys and girls) are exceptionally limited. They maybe have 6 -8 racks of children/ teenage ranks in a very compact area, if that. So if your looking for school clothes this is certainly not the Macy's for that. On the other hand, they having an extraordinary fragrance and make up department. I never have a problem finding my Chanel chance, Miss Dior or Chanel allure fragrances. It's always in stock. The shoe department is modest however it's completely understaffed and you will be waiting awhile for shoe size assistance. read more

I should have read the other reviews before coming here, but I went by the assumption that all Macy's would be roughly the same. How wrong I was! - terrible selection; was trying to buy an outfit for my goddaughter for a job interview and essentially had nothing. They had one rack of Calvin Klein jackets which weren't too bad but couldn't really find her size. But what was even crazier... they had the jackets but NONE of the matching pants for the suits. WTF?!? - terrible customer service. Went to a counter to ask for help picking out a suit and seemed to be one woman working and she was busy with a customer who seemed to want to exchange something and get money back or something that kept her occupied for quite some time. When we finally got up to talk to her she just told us to go to the other side of the store after I told her what we were looking for. - Couldn't find any shirts or anything or business attire for her to wear other than the jackets with no matching slacks. Went to the shoe section figuring we could at least get a pair of shoes. Again... wrong! She wears 6 1/2 and it's not an unusual size. FYI for Macy's.... we found the exact same shoes at Macy's in her size, and much more, at the DSW store just a block or two away. I would never come to this store again. Horrible selection and horrible service. Go to Nordstrom even if it does mean having to drive a little further. read more

I went into Macy's looking for a pair of classic fit khaki pants. I found the Dockers pant were on sale for $19.99 down from $62.99. At check out the clerk gave me an additional 25% off, which made the pants $14.99 each. That was an amazing deal and the reason I'm giving them 3 stars. When I entered the changing room there was an overwhelming odor of stale urine. I went into the first stall and found the source of the odor. Someone had clearly pissed on the floor and nothing had been done to fix the issue. read more

I rarely go into Macy's unless I'm buying a watch or something small. The store is always overpriced but this time the ac was the issue and not the $$. I felt like I literally walked into hell when I opened the doors to the store. I get the economy is bad but turn up the ac you cheap bastards. You know a store is hot when the workers are complaining about the heat. I made a suggestion of having someone turn up the ac, since the worker was too dumb to think of it her self, I doubt she'd get fired from turning the dial. The jeans look pretty decent here, you know how hard it is to find a good pair of jeans these days. After going to 3 or 4 stores my g/f found the leggins she was looking for here (thank god). This has got to be one of the worse if not the worst Macy's I've ever been too. No matter what time of year I go in it's always messy and dirty and disorganized. This year I've had the worse experience ever here. I'm looking at earrings for my mother, I find two pairs but guess what no one wants to help me. I ask the ladies in the jewelry area for help and they informed me I had to go to the perfume area for help. (Can someone please explain this to me?) After I head over to the perfume ladies I hear someone ask the lady I just spoke to a question in Spanish and guess what she went and helped her, lesson learned speak Spanish if you want help in the jewelry area. The perfume ladies were very nice and as helpful as they could be considering jewelry is not their area. Next we headed over to the makeup counters. No one was working at the Benefits counter and no one wanted to find anyone to help so we went to Clinique where there were two ladies working. We try to get their attention and nope nada zilch no help they spoke to each other and put on more lipstick than any one women ever needs to wear. No matter what I said or did they would not help on the other hand MAC was there wanting to help anyone but I have issues with MAC so no dice for them. We leave the makeup area empty handed and head up to the housewares area. OMG what a sad, sad, sad site that place is. So small with next to nothing, I asked if they had cookie sheets and the help had no idea what I was asking for, HELLO who doesn't know what a cookie sheet is?!?! Thankfully this extremely helpful gentleman overheard and came to my rescue and showed me the only cookie sheets they had plus they were on sale to boot. We get in line and wait and wait and wait there's one person running the cash register and three people playing with hangers. For someone reason people have specific jobs and some do hangers while others do registers. Funny thing is I always end up here and always get frustrated but this place does have a special place in my heart it's where I bought my first pair of Guess jeans many, many, many, many moons ago and I cherished those jeans forever until I fell and ripped a huge hole in the knee and I couldn't wear them anymore and for that and for the nice perfume lady and the helpful gentleman I can give them two stars otherwise they'd get zero. Don't go here unless you are desperate, because desperate times do call for desperate measures. read more

But now, they let this place run down and it looks like Ross in San Ysidro. This is an attempt to improve current processes and perhaps training for this particular location. After reading the other reviews, looks like there are other concerns for this location. This evening we noticed a boy, maybe 6-7 years old wandering around. We asked him if he was lost, and he confirmed. Walked him to the closest register and the lady asked the boy a couple of questions. "Where did you lose your mom?" "What was your mom wearing?" The kid couldn't answer either of the questions. Something tells me she would've asked a 5 year old the same questions. She finally asked him for his mom's name and picked up the phone. She was on the phone for a while before I asked, "Can't you just page her?" She said she's attempting to contact a manager, only they can use the intercom, apparently. I thought to my self, " Self, OMG! I can't even!" I had to reassure the boy that we'd find his mother. A manager never picked up her call and she finally decided to take the kid and search for his mother on foot. As she walked away, she turned around and said, "thanks". I rate myself 1 star for not staying with the boy and making sure he found his mother. Not sure what the parent(s) were thinking the entire time. Who knows. Maybe they were trying to contact a manager. Hope you can review your protocol or at least give your employees the access to send a simple page via loud speaker. For the children. Thanks. read more

Macy's as a dept. store is a pretty average experience. Don't get me wrong, it's better than JC Penney's, but that's like saying that a hamburger is better than cup o noodle. They're both still junk food. It's a little pricey for what they sell, but if you get their card and wait for sales, you'll get a lot of good stuff. Wow. This is must be where all of the rejected Nordstrom applicants and worthless managers who can't pass a customer service class go to. I came here with intentions of an exchange on a watch I bought a couple years ago that I bumped into when I was moving. I figured I might as well get something I like since I never wear this one anymore. Came across Adriana in the Jewelry department and she was finishing with a guest and I was waiting patiently and she says "I will be with you right now" so of course I said "I would like to see.." (she cuts me off) "Um I said I one second. I need to finish with this lady". Um what? You just said you would be with me right now. So when she finally decides to help me she asked "Oh you're returning something". God forbid right? I said yes, picked my watch out, gave her my item with the return label, case, and everything in tact. She then proceeds to tell me that she can return it but at a much lower price and immediately says she can get her manager to help me even though I didn't ask. I agreed thinking that I would speak to someone knowledgable who practices good customer service. This is not the case. Her manager automatically began accusing me and refused my exchange even after her dumb ass associate was going to do it. I was over it at this point and decided I would take my business to Plaza Bonita where I had NO ISSUE whatsoever and got an even better watch there. I wish I had the manager who DID NOT HELP ME'S name. By the way, good luck tracking someone down to find a department you're looking for. This Macy's is below standards. Place is always a mess and there is a shortage of staff at the men's jewelry counter, at least every time I go. They sold my wife a nice watch and they couldn't explain to her how the special features work. And the shoe section seems to always be messy. They get two stars because the merchandise is good quality. I know this part of Chula Vista is not as "nice" as say...Otay Ranch...but damn...Show you care about your standards Macy. I love the big advantage that stores give to its consumers to purchase things online, but when making returns I have had bad experiences with a specific employee. This employee is named Samantha, and on more than one occasion she has pretended to not be able to find the items I am returning that I have ordered with my Macy's credit card. Automatically when I swipe my card to make the return my account history shows up, but she fails to acknowledge this and asks me for an order number or receipt. I can confirm that my account history should show up in the system because I asked a different employee on a different occasion if all my purchases and returns show up on my card and they confirmed it. This last time I went to Macys, while I was waiting in line to make another return, Samantha was attending a pair of people, and from what I saw she was making it difficult for them as well. Either way Samantha likes making it difficult for Macy's shoppers or she does not have that much experience in making returns. read more

This was the worst experience at the Michael Kors department Iris and Diana were both working and neither one greeted us in fact they did not even look up they continued their own conversation and we had to ask if they worked there. If I could give them zero stars I would. I have had great customer service prior to this experience and must say that neither one was even willing to help or seemed interested in us at all. We asked for a box and they said nope we do not have any and didn't even suggest getting one from a different department all in all my father and I felt very disrespected and it ruined our shopping experience. They really should invest in mystery shoppers so they can see how they treat their customers. read more

Love shopping here it's one of the few original department stores left. My very first credit card was to this department store. Every time we go to this store they are super busy but always helpful, you will need to be patient to speak with someone do to amount of customers they have. My only criticism is how trashy the makeup girls have started dressing. I was with my two teen daughters the other day and as we walked past makeup department I thought we were at a nightclub. I get being edgy and trendy but do they need to be so skimpy? Maybe as a dad of two daughters I'm extra sensitive but my girls buy a lot of makeup and it didn't need to be from a gal dressed like she was going to the club. I've made this my Macy's of choice because I was consistently helped out by April, blue hair, always kind and helpful!! She always made my experience here memorable. NOW, seems like she has been getting less hours or not working here.AND I DONT BLAME HER. I stopped by two days in a row both at different times and wasn't greeted by a single person. I walked up to the makeup section and no one asked me if I need help for at least 10 min. I then left to look at some other departments and came back to the makeup section and still nothing. They clearly didn't want my money so I Left. The next day I came back it was the same thing. There was about 5 employees there and 2 were helping customers but the other three were just gossiping within themselves and hiding behind the counters. I know this because as I walked in I saw those same three in the eyes and then they left as if they didn't wanna work. I waited for about 5 min until I got fed up and I had to walk up to them and ask them to help me. I was rude too and I don't even care. The girl that ended up helping me gave me attitude too.
