Well stocked, convenient location. Can be hard to find exactly what you're looking for but great for impulse buys.

I was expecting too much from this location. It's "Eastlake", the "nicer" part of the southern part of San Diego but this TJ Maxx location falls short of what I imagined this place to be. First of all the first thing that I noticed was the parking. WHAT A PAIN IN THE YOU KNOW WHAT. The parking lot does not accommodate the traffic of people that visit this area. IT'S ANNOYING. As I walked into the store, the next thing that I noticed were the high ceilings in the store and thought to myself "Oh, this might be a good trip down here.", unfortunately that thought was quickly shot down by the comment my Mom made, "This store is so SMALL". It IS small. My brother was telling me that he was looking for the t-shirts in the store on the men's side... And in any other location there are usually more than 3 racks of shirts that a person would have to riffle through to find that one shirt that makes something in their head go "BOING". But in this store, they had THREE pegs on on the wall with maybe 9 shirts to choose from. LAME. The shoe section is small. The accessories section is small. ALL SECTIONS ARE SMALL, so disappointing. I expected more in Eastlake. So, as I'm walking around looking to see if there's anything that would catch my attention, I notice that there's an elevator, WHAT, A SECOND FLOOR?! SCORE!!! My Dad done looking around and searching for something else to do other than sit down and wait for my Mom to finish browsing, we decided to take a ride on the elevator and see what other adventures we could entertain ourselves with. So we hit the number 2 and listened to the rumble of the lifting machine and when the noise stopped, we found ourselves in some kind of employee restroom, dining area and warehouse area, NOT the type of adventure I was looking for. They could at least mark some where that it's an "Only Employee" elevator. The lines at the register are what you would expect at any discount store. Staff was friendly but you could see the frustration in their eyes. The store just opened 3 days ago and it seems as though the Grand Opening hype hasn't died down. The Gist: The store is small. Selection is not great. Unless I was in the area, I'd rather go to the Rosecrans location. Scratch that, I don't think that I'd ever go to this location EVER unless they had something in stock that wasn't available at another location and had to pick it up here, that would be the only time that I would go to this location. read more

This place is located in a beautiful village walk plaza surrounded by restaurants and markets (trader joes & sprouts) It's usually easy to find parking spaces. First of all, the staffs here are usually nice. Carries cute home decor stuff and decent workout clothes. Last time I bought a nike legging for about $20ish, not bad! Most of all, this place is neat and organized. Which makes it easy for me to find things I need. I would come back cause they sell decent workout clothes for a cheaper price. read more

There seriously should be an option of 1/2 a star. First let me say that I completely miss the Borders book store that used to be home to this location. We live incredible close to this location and fell into the excitement of waiting for the grand opening. We frequent Golden Spoon, Henry's, Pier 1, and would always look to see how far along the store was coming. Grand opening day. What a huge bomb. My daughter and I drove into the lot to see how bad it was....BAD. There was no parking and even a person directing traffic to help clear out a bit. So we went back the following afternoon during the middle of the day while most were at school or work (our kids hadn't started back yet). I can sum my impression of the new store in two words......UNIMPRESSED/DISSAPPOINTMENT. The store used to seem soooo big when it was Borders and it used to house TONS of books. Now the store simply looks 2/3 less the size it was. Not only does it look smaller, but....there's no merchandise. We were in and out within 10 minutes. I do not expect to go back anytime soon and honestly question the success of this location. I would much rather drive down H St. to the Marshall's or to a location of Ross. read more

I was initially very sad to see that this space was getting turned into a TJ Maxx since I absolutely loved that Borders location. I am not a fan of Marshalls or TJ Maxx but this location has completely changed my mind. I was honestly expecting to have the same bad luck that I do at those stores. I know everyone talks about how you can find great deals on great items but I just never found anything that was "my style" but things have changed now that I discovered that TJ Maxx sells Free People and items that you can easily see in an Anthropologie or Urban Outfitters. Let me just say that this store is HUGE! Everything is well organized and clean unlike many Marshalls and TJ Maxx stores I've been to in San Diego. The women section is by far the biggest just like any other store. This is a shopaholics dream! You have clothes, a great selection of great designer bags, great jewelry which is nicely displayed, an amazing selection of beauty products, shoes, house decor, candles, kitchen supplies, and even cute stuff for your pets. As a beauty fanatic I absolutely love their beauty section. Depending on which days you go sometimes you can find AMAZING deals. I recently bought the Vera Wang Lovestruck perfume which retails for $68 at Sephora for just $25! And recently I found the Michael Kors perfume which I really wanted but since I have way too many perfumes I decided to just leave it there. You can also get great deals on Philosophy body washes which are very pricey at Sephora. Another great beauty brand that I've seen is Elizabeth Arden which again is fairly expensive. For hair product junkies you can get your Big Sexy Hair and Chi products for a lot less here. If you regularly go to Sephora definitely swing by TJ Maxx to see if you can find some of the things you want for a lot less money. If you typically don't like these types of stores give this location a shot. The parking is honestly not THAT bad. Stop being so lazy, a little walking is not going to hurt anyone. read more

This location is a good size but VERY LITTLE SELECTION! You have to be really lucky to even find something here. I came looking for a dress... & most stores like TJ Maxx or Marshalls, have racks of dresses.. this one had maybe half of a rack, possibly less than 50 dresses. That's how small the selection was. I was even quite surprise myself because this store is located in Eastlake behind Target & I'm sure if they had so much more products, people would visit this location more often. It was a very sad TJ Maxx. I would definitely recommend to go to the one in San Ysidro or head over to Marshalls off H Street & you can do ALOT more shopping there. read more

I am very please with how much they have improved ! I am SOOOOO happy because this TJ Maxx is less than 1 minute from my home. They have extremely improved their selection. I gave it a chance and Tj Maxx did not let me down. I mostly go for the beauty products and shoes and trust me they have so many cute shoes (AHH! so exciting) The beauty section has its ups and downs but I always find something I like for a reasonable price. (for example; I snagged some eyeshadows palettes from TheBalm for 12.99. Originally 39.50 WOOOO! ) So far soo good! read more

I am obsessed with tj maxx that I had to get a card to shop here. And not only does it apply here but also at marshalls, home goods, Tierra sierra so u can shop at all those. They have clothes shoes furniture food. I get a lot of my makeup supplies at the maxx and Marshall too. read more

Have came here a couple of times with the GF. Usually pretty crowded, and a bit unorganized. Only things I've found have been a couple toys for the pooches. That's about all I would stop here for. read more

I wish this location was way more organized. There is always stuff all over they place, especially in the beauty section; there is always so much broken makeup on the shelves that should definitely be thrown away. Even if someone wanted to buy it, it's very unsanitary and irresponsible on their behalf to sell it to someone. People that work there dressing room always have an attitude every time I come and it is truly aggravating. In my search to find a specific lamp, I ventured out to browse through the store's selection of home goods. I was pleasantly surpised to find more lamp selections than usual. Though I didn't buy a lamp, I did see a few that were noteworthy. Other than viewing lamps, I stopped by the jewelry to see if by chance they had a specific designer watch I'd been looking for. They didn't. The jewelry selection was limited. For the sake of gas usage and comfort, It'd be nice if all the stores carried the same items. read more

If my wife was writing this review she probably would give them more stars. But for me the men's section is relatively small and has limited items to choose from. I get it the store is small and geared towards our better halves. Heck, my wife just came out with three pairs of shoes, hey, I thought she had plenty shoes? Worst shopping experience ever! I spent hours picking out clothes and when I went to go try on the last batch, someone put all the clothes that I had picked out back out on the floor!!! I do like to shop here as a neighborhood, but I had bad experience last Sunday. I was asked to donate $1 for Children by cashier, but I found $1 was a bag fee on my receipt when I went back home. If you donate some money,check the receipt before leave the store. read more

Felt like I was a criminal when I went to the dressing room. Wanted to try a pair of wind pants on, had one item, I was wearing shorts and tshirt, where would I put the wind pants if I wanted to steal them. And why would I steal $20 pants? The mens department is a joke unless you are looking for dated nfl branded clothing or jeans with cargo pockets on them. Please tj max get some better buyers allocation analysts to improve your mens department this is a higher economic area we can afford the nicer pieces. We shop here periodically as we live in the neighborhood and we normally would have a good experience but checking out today was not very pleasant. The cashier that was helping us kept on talking to the other cashiers about random things (about how cute the guy before us was) while ringing us up. I just think when you have a customer in front of you, you should at least stop your conversation and laughing, and continue after you're done. But I do love coming here to find little trinkets and cute stuff to decorate our house :). read more

I love going to this place maybe once or twice a month. They have awesome random things from clothing to shoes to housing materials! I love going here to buy my charger for my iPhone, it beats paying for $20+ priced chargers, and they work unlike those fake ones that are not apple certified! The place was pretty clean and spacious, most the purses I liked here were over $100 so I passed on those, and the decor section here is pretty small in comparison to east coast locations. I came here to find some sunglasses and most cost $10 (although they did have some $70 Dolce Gabbana ones), the lady behind the jewelry counter was nice enough to help me decide between two different pairs I found. The lady at the register although friendly made me feel as if I was cheap since all I found to buy were the sunglasses... but sometimes that's just how it is. Solid discount shopping on famous breads without the discount store blech feel you get at other places. I suggest shopping with a list and sticking to it...otherwise all the tchotkis and bargains will end up costing you what you saved. Today I went into this location to do a return as I walked into the store I walked straight ahead to the registers when I had notified the associate I was doing a return I also let her know that I did not have a receipt​. These items were given to me as gifts that is why I did not have the receipt but even if they weren't the associate wanted to scam me. She responded and said she was going to be returning the items to me CLEARANCE price when I had the original tickets for all 3 items I was returning. I have been shopping at TJ Max, Marshalls, and Home Goods my whole life and have been working for the TJ Maxx company for over 2 years so when she told me that I was in utter shock. I responded and demanded, ​"No, you will not give me clearance price you will give me full price." She tried to tell me some bullshit because THERE IS NO POLICY that states if you return an item without the receipt​ we will return you clearance price that's total BULLSHIT. I let her say her bullshit as I then mentioned I worked for the company which made her look even more stupid I talked to the manager and the manager told me, "Next time bring a receipt​," and I again told her it was a gift I did not have a receipt​ but again even if I did and I had lost it that is no excuse to lie to me I had done nothing wrong I did not come in with bad intention I was hoping to shop after I was done doing my return but after that experience fuck no. BUT, it gets worst the return continues they give me full price as I demanded I walk out took a look at my receipt​ and they returned a 6.99 item to me twice and left out a 29.99 item out I go back ask to speak to the manager again and notified that they returned to me one thing twice and left out one. She defensively​ replied, "we make mistakes too," and I had responded, ​" ​of course I understand." As an associate of the company I am very aware of the policies​ and the return policy is any item/s without a receipt​ will be returned to you FULL price but will be returned as STORE CREDIT. Do not let them scam you with their bullshit. Disgusting horrible service. Made them look dumb didn't even get an apology because they were too afraid of admitting to their lies. read more

I find myself shopping at TJ maxx when Im in the mood to spend some cash and want to get the most bang for my buck. They have a great selection of trendy clothes. I proudly proclaim myself as a maxanista, whenever I go out of town I find one to see what there selection is like. I thought the Eastlake store would become my favorite especially when I saw It was a 2 story building. I was quickly disappointed because although it looks grand on the outside the inside was small and the selections weren't that great. I returned some items that I bought at the Santee store because this one is closer to my home; all of the merchandise had the tags and I had the receipt( I didn't get a chance to try it on first) the clerk checks the computer as if I stole the items!! Really? ? I paid for it with my atm I bought it Friday and returned on Sunday! ! I asked why she did it and she said it was the policy..no honey it's not I go to plenty of stores and have returned things way over the 19.99 and they don't check the system. Not the policy and if it was my items were 19.99 and 16.00!! My intention was to purchase an outfit that I could wear to a party that night and decided that I would not give this store any of my money. I called and spoke to the manager who apologized but doesn't take away the feeling of being wronged! ! I felt it was racist or maybe even classiest. .honey you work at tj maxx. .calm down.
