TJM is cool but today was just all bad. . I went in and couldn't find anything I wanted until I saw a Tokyo Lab product that I've been wanting. The bottle was pretty dirty and you could tell the product spilled through a bit, however, that being said what appeared to be a manager in a bright shirt by the name of Candace left the entire situation awkward and bad. . I asked my cashier to check if the price can be changed considering it got all over my hands and I was waiting in a long line, another girl next to her on register 7 with blonde hair chimed in with very much unnecessary two cents saying it won't be discounted for that type of reason . . Which, news flash. . It's TJM, I've gotten discounts from things being like that too many times to count. Anyways the manager Candace comes and just directly says she can't sell it and I'm just there like well? And she just says was that the only one? I said yes and she just kept saying it can't be sold. . I had mentioned I go to a lot of other locations from Roseville to here and have never seen it, so the likelihood was very unrealistic to find it again and she just was glaring at me. It was pretty awkward considering the long wait and she didn't really have a pleasant tone or any way to make it up? The customer service was just poor today. . This location is alright overall though. For reference this just happened today before closing. . Pretty lame service if you ask me, do better. read more

I go to Tj Maxx nearly all the time and nothing ever goes wrong or there's never a reason for me to leave angry or pissed. However, this visit, I left pissed and disrespected as a customer. I arrived to Tj Maxx and browsed through the active section and selected a couple items. I then proceeded to the fitting rooms and the woman working there, tan/brown skin color, Hispanic, about 5'1, didn't greet or speak to me. She just grabbed the items out of my hand without letting me know and one of my items fell on the floor as she was taking them. She didn't bother to pick it up, say sorry or acknowledge it. I also told her to hold on since my keys were stuck to the hanger but she didn't say a word and proceeded to take the items off my hand. She then gave me the card and as I went off to the fitting room, another coworker(female) came by and all of a sudden, she seemed to have found her voice and started exchanging words with her. Anyways, after I finished trying on my items, I was greeted by a new employee who actually spoke to me and asked which items worked out and which ones didn't. Good job to that gal! After that, I get in line to check out. I was helped at register 4, I believe, and the employee helping me was Maribella. Maribella didn't greet me or provide good customer service....matter of fact, she didn't even provide STANDARD customer service at all. As she was ringing me up, she was more interested in her coworkers love life. Her coworker was right next to her, on register 3. I believe her name is Mikala or Mikayla. I heard what they were talking about very clearly. I'm not saying you can't talk about what you want, but be careful about what you say, where you say it, and honestly, you're working so keep your personal shit in the break room or somewhere customers can't hear you. Also, as I was listening, just because Mikayla was talking quite loud, I heard her use the N*** word!!! Speak however you want with whatever word you want, but don't use that word in a work environment ESPECIALLY since that word is very sensitive and controversial to society. I am highly disgusted with the customer service I was confronted with today at Tj Maxx. Managers, please talk to your employees or you'll soon run out of business and a job!!! read more

i like coming here to shop but i do find stuff here a bit more expensive than marshals. even though they are the same company as marshals. i tend to find this place sells a bit more fancier brand name items for a fraction of a cost but still can be expensive compared to ross. this place is pretty organized and well kept clean. the workers here are pretty friendly which i find i am comfortable coming here. they have a large selection of women's jewelry and hand bags with brand names such as some italian designers and MK and coach as well. they also carry mens jewelry and watches. lack in mens shoes selections tho. great luggage choices here to choose from. overall i will come here to browse for some brand name goodies they sell occasionally but not my favorite store compare to ross. read more

I have shopped at TJ Maxx for years in Elk Grove, however I have never had to deal with the customer service there when things to not go as planned. I went to TJ Maxx today, on Christmas Eve, to make a few last minute purchases. Everything was going great, there were not a lot of people, and everyone seemed to have the Christmas Spirit. However, when I got up to the register everything went down hill from there. I lost my credit card a few weeks ago and so I had to use a check to pay for my purchases today, usually this is not a big deal, however the cashier did not know how to process a check. Then she told me my check was declined, the amount was for around $450, not a large amount during Christmas for me. I called my bank right away to figure out what was going on and my bank, Wells Fargo, told me nothing had even been requested from my bank account, no charges had gone through and I had her verify that the amount would clear with no problem. It turns out it was TJ Maxx's check authorization system that was denying my check because the amount was "so high" and I had never written a check at TJ Maxx before. I had to call the 800 to even get this answer because the store manager had no idea why my check wasn't being accepted. He made very condescending remarks like "maybe you have a limit on how much you can make a check out for" or "maybe you have spent too much today", in which I replied, well my check for $12,000 for work on our house cleared and this is my first purchase of the day. Then another associate said "If you actually have that money in your account why don't you go over and get cash and come back". I was floored by the way I was being treated. I put the charge on my husband's card and left. Well I got home and lo and behold a pair of boots I purchased were not put in my bag of purchases. Perhaps because the first girl who ran me up moved my belongings when they suspended the transaction and asked me to move until I had another form of payment. Then a completely different person rang me up again. I have the reciept to show I was charged for boots, but the guy who completed the transaction forgot to put everything in the bag. Worst experience ever, I thought maybe the store manager would be more professional, however I was sadly mistaken. I shop here every month and spend a lot since I rarely get up to Arden or Roseville, however I will have to take my business elsewhere because that customer service was appaling. My boyfriend and I are always here! i love Tj Maxx and the wonderful things i find here. We were able to find these 2 really nice Nike sweaters for only 20 bucks! Definitely a steal. I also enjoy looking in the kids section for some toys for my little nieces. Tj Maxx has all the girly stuff they would like so its a great place for us to find them gifts for birthdays and christmas. read more

Terrible customer service. Did not remove a security device that was attached to a holloween costume that we purchased and my child could not wear. We returned it with the security device attached and they said it was store policy that they could NOT return any Halloween costume. No where is that noted in the store nor told to us at purchase time. Furthermore we had to purchase a second costume for our child at target that night once we got home and he could not wear the costume!! We asked to speak to a manager who said it is store policy but it wasn't listed or written anywhere. Helped my sister return a pair of shoes. The lady at the register already gave a rude attitude when I got to the register not even a "hello". I handed her the shoes and receipt and asked for a return. She gave me a look and asked why am I returning. I replied back, "I'm helping my sister return them." She scanned the shoes and receipt and asked if I had the debit card. I said no, it's my sister's card, can't I get cash back? She gave me another look and asked for my i.d. She kept looking at it and then looking back at me and said "This don't look like you. You sure you're Heather?" I said, "Uh...yeah? Do you need me to prove it? All my other cards have my name on it. You need to also see my student i.d.?????? She then said, "It just don't look like you" and handed me the cash. The TJ Maxx in Elk Grove is one of the cleaner and more organized locations that ice been to. There isn't a great selection of designer items, but their housewares and luggage departments have a lot of merchandise that is all well-priced. If you are looking for designer jeans, women's clothing or intimates, I would suggest shopping elsewhere though. I've found the employees to be helpful and wait time reasonable. They have a good system in place to keep checkout fast. A-OK in my book! read more

NEVER AGAIN!! I decided to go to TJ Maxx since all my girlfriends were finding sweet deals on cute outfits. I'd never been to this place, but was totally intrigued when Kelly Coutrone mentioned on the show, The City that some designer clothes ended up at TJ Maxx if the designers didn't follow up with their orders or if boutiques couldn't sell all the outfits they ordered. So obviously that sealed the deal for me and headed there as soon as I could. When I walked in it looked like a nicer and cleaner version of Ross. I was disappointed in the lay out, but tried to stay optimistic about maybe finding awesome outfits for Vegas. I searched for about an hour and came out with nothing. All the dresses were matronly and definitely not for Vegas. The shoes were about the same price as Macy's clearance, but without a box - so I didn't get shoes either. Why pay the same price for clearance items in a better department store when you don't even get a shoe box to house an awesome shoe? Maybe I was at the wrong TJ Maxx, but I'm NEVER going back to this one again. read more

Great place to go for a quick shopping spree on a budget. I was actually able to go down the aisles without stepping on trash and clothes like you have to do at those other stores. Everytime I come, I only stay to the right side of the store. That is, I only look at shoes. Sometimes I look at the odd end items they have by the jewelry section but usually just look for shoes. They don't always have something but I find a nice, cheap pair 4/5 times. I never look at clothes because it is so messy!! And also because their clothes aren't nice. read more

I like TJ Maxx. They sell really great stuff here. Much nicer things than Ross or DD's discounts for sure. But little more pricier, like 3-4 dollars more. But overall, I have great experience shopping at TJ Maxx. I love the handbag section. :) Kinda pricey but the bags are superior. :) Ross's handbag selection disappoint me deeply. read more

They will have really really good stuff one day and then nothing good for months. One time, I filled my shopping cart with Kate Spade!! i was just there TJMAX today, near the Home Depot at Elk Grove, I shopped my Garden stuff mostly at this store since 2005, But today i saw something on the Jewelry section,a Female employee about at around 10-11am, Monday June 13,2022,she has short wavey hair, Tan skin and around 57yr old. i was already infront of her, still she is ignoring me. so i waited for like 2 mins, because she was cleaning the top glass. still she is not even making eye contact or say Hi! Hello or i'll be with you, Let me just finish my cleaning LOL! so finally i said "can i pls. see that necklace,"i said the pink one. she said there is two pink one but in a rude tone of voice, like i disturb her of cleaning LOL!. then i asked her if she have idea what size that necklace was. "she said NO, again with a rude tone of voice. She is rude, no eye contact, no greeting. Bad customer service. No Thank you. i think she is a racist. because i saw her with other people. she was friendly. i don't think this lady like Asian LOL. This lady is not even trying to make a sale or sale talk atleast make the customer convince or be enthusiatic about the item. she is like can't wait for me to leave her. They have a really great shoe selection right now, this store is overall neat and tidy, not much interaction going on with employees they just kind of let you be, which is nice if you're looking for some peace and quiet while shopping. The fitting room attendants are wonderful, I adore how accommodating they were for my brother who has down syndrome, they gave him the nice spacious fitting room close to the front of the area for him to try on clothes and it was easy for him to just step out for me and my sister to see which clothes looked nice on him without us having to walk deep into the men's fitting room. On my last trip to the local TJ Maxx I was in search of specific polos within a specific price range. I was able to find the polos I needed but needed more of them. I purchased what I had and voiced my concern to the register attendant and he took the initiative of asking another customer service representative to call other TJ Maxx locations to find more polos for me. I was really taken back by the service and the forward-thinking of the employee. He was thinking about my needs but also aware of the customers behind me and delegated the ask. It is very difficult to find good customer service these days so thought I would comment about my recent experience. read more

Very bad customer service of the manager and the cashier. They were overcharged my money, I went there just want they get the money back to me only, NO OFFENSES. I was trying to explain to them why the cashier charged my money last time,but they seem like don't need that. That's fine. I saw and heard the manger lost patience and said return back the money to her, I would write a note on it. And the cashier gave me back the money with dislike. If I could give this store no stars I would. This store is literally just a filthy mess. Most of the employees here are fake and phony. They smile at you but once you turn your back they go right back to doing a whole lot of nothing. The reason I'm writing this is because I felt very offended when I came in. There are several instances on why this store should just shut down. My son and I came in spontaneously to see what's up and what's in the store. As soon as we walk I went to look at purses and some of their new hats. There was a jewelry counter and the lady that worked there seemed nice. But 1.) don't put your walkie talkie on so loud that everyone near you can hear. Which brings me to my second point. I overheard on the walkie a description of my son. Which I thought was odd, but then I realized their racially profiling him. Then this short blonde lady comes to the front of the store and just stares at him. By then I knew something was up. My son hadn't stolen anything, and she just kept watching him as if there was something going on. There was also this lady in the front one instance I was finished and ready to purchase my items, she was very obnoxious, like she commented on everything and tried to make conversation which I thought was okay, this is just their customer service. But wow the way she bosses around the cashiers in the front. I would feel bad working up there too. It's like she sat on this high pedestal and they were all her peasants. As for the store managers I haven't encountered anything with them yet. But one word of advice DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE RUN FAR AWAY FROM THIS STORE. read more

I would have given this place 2 stars but my last visit today totally changed my mind. Usually I find a few things that interest me, but today I found nothing. Nada. Zilch. Their inventory was horrible. I found 3 decent things to try on, and discovered the store did something very bizzare with their dressing room. They used to have the standard dressing room with several smallish stalls with the half-doors and small mirrors. But that is really all you need in a TJ Maxx, you want to get in, try your stuff on, then get out. C'mon now, it's not Bloomies. Now, they have about 3 (maybe 4) rather large rooms with full doors, each room with a huge bench to sit on and overly bright fluorescent lighted mirrors. The dressing room clerk is standing behind a large desk reminiscent of a hotel front desk. Since there are so few dressing rooms now, there was a long line (this was at 11am Friday, imagine what it is like on Saturday afternoon) to try things on. The whole thing is absurd. Why try to make it all posh? It is TJ Maxx for heaven's sake, no one is going to be fooled by this. All I want is a clean dressing room that I don't have to wait forever for. They are remodeling parts of the store, and apparently the dressing room was part of the remodel. I do not know what goal this dressing room design was meant to acheive. If the goal is annoying their customers, then they have succeeded. If you do ever find yourself in the unfortunate position of having to shop here, for entertainment, listen to the store/shift manager (I think)--he is a young (20's-ish) man who seems to take great pleasure in admonishing and ordering around employees in a very loud voice so that all can hear, and so we will all know the enormous authority and power he wields. I grew up in Elk Grove with this TJ Maxx around. Never was impressed. Moved to Orange County and we had the best TJ Maxx. It was always trendy and well stocked with popular items that were a steal and quality. I went there all the time. The customer service was always super friendly even if I did a late night run closer to closing. They were fabulous! I believe I even reviewed it on yelp. I naively believed it was a TJ Maxx changed not a location thing. I recently moved back to Elk Grove and went to this TJ Maxx and had a 3 star experience. Went back again last night June 24 around 9...a half hour from closing hoping to find a little something without a crowd. I'm pregnant and quick and didn't want to deal with long checkout or dressing room lines. After a few minutes I find a few things and want to try them on. Seriously about 9:14 and i go to the dressing room and the lady doesn't even think twice about turning me away. "we close at 9:15"...um then why the heck is your store open. I was tempted to leave right then but thought "nope, I'm going to stay longer just to spite her". So then a few minutes later I hear over the speakers "our dressing rooms are now closed". WHAT?! Stupid lady wouldn't let me go in when they weren't even closed. If I were a normal size person and everything just spontaneously fit me then maybe I'd be ok with it (but lets be real that person doesn't exist pregnant or not) but when I have watermelon size belly and its hard enough for me to get up the energy to get to the darn store, that kinda makes me angry! When a retail store says it closes at 9:30 that doesn't mean all the dressing room employees get to go home at 9:15 or heaven forbid 9:30 when the store actually closes. Closing at 9:30 means people stop coming in at 9:30 and you close up shop accordingly you moron. So why the 2 star well I was determined to buy something and found a Maxxi lucky brand dress and to my great surprise when I got home to try it on it fit. So all wasn't lost. I actually just changed my mind I'm not going to give the second star I'll just go write a glowing review for lucky brand. If you were wondering the Maxxi dress was probably the only Maxxi dress in a size large. And there was only one in a medium-I would have preferred a medium but the large worked. There were several smalls but none of them were cute. Maxxi's are still very in. Especially for a market like Elk Grove where you have lots of moms. Stock up on your popular merchandise. I honestly wish that I would have read the reviews before wasting my time here. The customer service was terrible. I was attempting to exchange a pet costume that I had put on my dog to try for less than a few minutes and it was too small. The cashier seemed nice at first and almost willing to exchange the items. However, a woman, who turned out to be the store manager came over and she was very rude. She pointed to the item and said see the dog hair we can't put this back on the floor and we won't take the item back, sorry and walked off. Then the cashier, a younger female began to lecture about why they couldn't take it back due to the safety of all other dogs. While in a sense this is valid, do we really believe that they have not put merchandise back on the floor that was worn by another dog or slept in by one or chewed on, etc. In fact the costume that I was exchanging it for had some dog hair on it and a few others I looked at definitely had some wear, at least appeared too. The biggest issue I had and the reason why I will NEVER go back is the mere fact that they don't treat their customers well and that is pretty obvious by not just my experience. I worked at TJ Maxx at another location for 6 months or so and customer service was the priority and has been at all other locations I have been to. This is exactly why I wasn't surprised at all when I was able to return the item with no problems at another location. This is most likely a managerial issue that will hopefully get fixed. read more

I don't bother looking through the clothes since I usually don't find anything worth buying and I wish they carried more shoes my size (6 women's) because the styles were cute. So when I'm here, which is not often, I'm usually here to look/buy storage bins, picture frames or mugs. And that's only if I don't feel like driving down to home goods. No customer service (3 associates), Tactless and ignorant manager (blonde) I shop online but I have to return pieces that didn't fit in stores. I used to live in Elk Grove and most of my friends and family live there so I shop at that location. I didn't get a shipping receipt on one of my purchase but the online TJ Maxx return policy CLEARLY states that I can use my email confirmation as a receipt so I printed a copy of that and showed the actual email (with pictures, descriptions, and prices of each item) on my tablet for the return. However when the cashiers-3 in all, found out that I don't have the barcoded receipt, they refused my return. I asked for the manager and the first to come is a white blonde (sorry, I didn't get their names-just the associate number from my receipt) who flat out told me that I can't return the items because I don't have the "correct" receipt. The attitudes of that manager and the cashiers were rude and dismissive. That manager is actually sending me away, she want me to leave without making any effort of finding a solution. At this point, I can feel my "blood boil". So, I asked her the obvious, "You want me to go because there is absolutely nothing you can do about this?" She repeated that without the barcode, she can't accept the return but now she will call another manager. Then a second manager (brunette) came by and found a solution by getting similar items on the floor to scan for the return. Finally someone with common sense. It's not perfect because the blonde manager who watched as the rude cashier processed the return didn't override the return as a store credit-I paid with a debit card and my card should have been credited or they should have given me cash. I used to train people in customer service so I can tolerate some ignorance, but TJ Maxx's district manager should do a better job offering a management position to professional people with manners and intelligence. It is the managers' responsibility to learn all aspects of the store operations including their online store's return policies. The attitude from all employees involved was abrupt annoyance that "it's an online return", like it was such an inconvenience. I used to spend around $500.00 every month and more during the holidays at this store and online. Needless to say, after that very bad experience, I have not spent a penny on that store and all their "sister" companies. I gave my store credit card as a gift to a teenage nephew with a warning. I know that he will not spend more than the card's value. I told this experience to all my friends and family who no longer shop there because they know my professional background and personality. read more
