Being from California this place was awesome with super cool beach vibes. From the decor to the music to the menu. I got the Going back to Cali burrito. It was perfectly constructed with delicious tender carne asada. I say 10/10 on flavor! My only criticism is we both got our fries about 20 min before getting our burritos. Soooo yea we ate all our fries by the time the burritos came. And that's after we waited at least 30 min just to get the fries. The waitress was sweet and apologized for the wait. First off, the bartender in this place is the most rude condescending woman I've ever encountered at a restaurant. I ordered 3 steak fajita platters paid extra for the steak and shrimp for each platter. That alone was 90$! Not to mention everything else we ordered. When I checked my order there was 3 fajita "set ups" and only 1 box with protein (pictured) obviously I call the place right away. I was polite but inquisitive about why my order was missing the 2 other fajitas. Bartender put me on hold and stated the kitchen put our three orders together in one box. When I said why would they put three seperate fajitas in one box. Her response was "why not?" with a condescending attitude. When I arrived and showed the cooks and servers my portion and the fact it was missing peppers and onions. I told them I was treated very disrespectfully on the phone and the server replied that was not me and I said okay it's really unacceptable to talk to people this way!! I told them that you do not serve three separate meals for three seperate people to share their takeout in 1 box. Well the bartender was overhearing and walked over to let me know it was her on the phone and got into a full blown argument with me in front of her two customers at the bar and the 1 table sitting and eating. I am talking yelling back and forth across the restaurant. Absolute maddening, disgusting, disrespectful, person. Trying to make me feel like shit that I am complaining? Literally made fun of me, mocking me for complaining I didn't get peppers and onions. It was absolutely shocking I had to compose myself because she even mocked me when I said I had my baby in the car and had to return here and she said "wow you left your baby in the car alone" And I told her no my friend who stayed outside waiting 20min for you to mess up her take out is in the car with my baby. Again all in front of her other customers. Disgusting. I've worked in this industry 15+ years and if anyone made a mistake in the kitchen or at the bar, my job was always to treat them kindly and correct any mistakes or issues so they leave with a pleasant experience. Every single one of my experiences here have been great! I love their cocktails and appreciate that they have so many seasonal specials and deals! Their food is amazing too! Whether I've lived keto or gone with my bestie who is pescatarian, we have always had our needs met. I have enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinners here and enjoyed each one! Their coffee to go is great too. Every staff member I have interacted with has been great---friendly, attentive and helpful. Each visit has been extra special due to servers, bartenders and cooks. The owner, Jeremy, is wonderful too! You can tell he truly cares about his business, his staff, his customers and the community. The ambiance is cool! We arrived to eat there, they told us to seat ourselves anywhere, unfortunately we wanted a booth but they were all filled with dirty dishes. It was not busy at the time, maybe 2 other tables, our server took a while to get to us, drinks were brought first and were great just a little pricey! Our appetizers took a while and while 2 were good the nachos were cold and soggy. The birria tacos I ordered were again, alright at best and over priced I felt, our total came to almost $90 for our food, neither the quality, proportions or atmosphere really reflected that. Jeremy, this place use to slap. Drinks were great, food was better but it's been terrible for months if not a year. Loved this place so much I returned several times to see if it was just a bad spell, but it keeps getting worse. I've had completely uncooked rice & soggy rice in the same burrito. My mom and I ordered salads that came swimming in dressing, and then the waitress chastised us for not ordering dressing on the side. Today, I returned this plate of shrimp untouched and the waitress didn't ask why. I assume because she could see that it was visibly inedible, but she didn't take it off the bill. My friend and I went to check out the coffee flights! I think next time we might try one of the other flights. Our waitress was so amazing- she was running everything by herself which a party of literally 20 people were in there! Talk about a rockstar! After our unpleasant experience in August we had a great interaction with Jeremy who gave us a gift certificate to give them another chance. When we went back it was worse. We had a reservation for 6 people, there were 6 other tables and two servers. We got seated right away got chips and water right away and then nothing. Absolutely nothing for 25 minutes!! Both servers passed by our tables many times completely ignoring us. Not a "just give us a minute we will be right with you...." nothing! One server was cleaning and resetting the tables around us while ignoring us (that server was the bartender on our previous bad experience btw). Anyone want my gift certificate? I'm in love with this restaurant!! The service was great! The food was great! The energy felt great! We came early and had a good table for 5 persons. The coffee flights were a smaller size, maybe 4oz each so it's great to consume for one person. If I'm not mistaken the flavors swap out often so best to run when a new set is posted on instagram. I was able to have the Girl's Scout theme flights and it's so yum!! I asked for a recommendation on the most popular dish which was the Morning After Burrito and it did not disappoint!! Every bite was so delectable! I especially loved the salsa verde and hash browns in it!! We left mid-morning and it was picking up quite a bit. Arriving for lunch, easy parking, and the place was about 1/5 full. We grabbed a booth, and the server greeted us warmly, with a pitcher of ice, cold water, and the menus. The menu was extensive, easy to read, and fully explained what each item was. Cocktails, along with other drinks were on the other side of the menu. Chips and salsa arrived almost immediately. The chips were homemade, and seasoned to perfection. The salsa was bland. It needed more spices. I ordered the TJ burrito, my dinner lunch guests ordered two beef tacos and a burrito, respectively. My TJ burrito was good for $16. But here was the problem. It was Luke warm. Tasty but that's about it. I also ordered the iced coffee flights. Four smaller iced coffees arrived. They all were flavored. These were delicious. At $15 for the four of them, I'm not sure the price point was correct. It seemed expensive. Restrooms were clean Lunch for the three of us with the tip came to $81, which included that coffee flights, with no soft drinks, or alcoholic beverages. Tried again, still pretty good but not great This place is one of the few that offer coffee flights, and I enjoy trying lots of little bites. So I got their french toast and coffee flight. I did enjoy the flight of coffees, they had good strong flavors and were done well. The french toast flight was effectively a bunch of french toast sticks with a few different dipping sauces. Didn't realize that right away, and although the french toast sticks were well executed, they were not my preference when it comes to french toast. Price was a little on the high side. the coffee flight came out to about 15 and the french toast was 13. The french toast was a little too heavy on the sugar front so I only ate about half. The coffees were tasty, but I felt that I could've gotten a bigger coffee of a single flavor for much cheaper. Overall, an improvement. It's not worth a trek, but it's a solid dining experience if you happen to be in the area read more

My wife & I have eaten at TJ's Burritos off & on for multiple years now & have noticed that the service has been steadily declining recently. The final straw happened when I stopped by for a couple of breakfast sandwiches. I walked in at 10:15AM, the restaurant was totally empty of customers, asked the receptionist for a menu, looked over the breakfast section & couldn't find a breakfast sandwich. I then asked the receptionist, where can I find the breakfast sandwich on the menu & she pointed to the breakfast section. Still couldn't find the breakfast sandwich, asked the receptionist, again, asking if they have a breakfast sandwich? The receptionist seemed to be bothered, then saying that they no longer have a breakfast sandwich! I then walked out. This entire conversation was like "pulling teeth". Proper customer service would have been, right away for the receptionist to pay attention to the customer, especially with the entire restaurant empty. Tell the customer that we no longer offer a breakfast sandwich, ask the grill cook to put his phone down & ask if he has any rolls for a breakfast sandwich. A very easy thing to cook, especially with an empty restaurant. Even he couldn't make one, at least I would feel like I, as the customer was appreciated. Love the ambiance of the place, such a cool concept. I went during lunchtime expecting the place to be fairly busy-and I was the only guest there for maybe 20 minutes. A few people were coming in to get pick up orders. The coffee is delicious and the flights are fun. Service was good. However, the food was just okay. I got the popcorn chicken and waffles and it just didn't work for me. Fried pickles also weren't as crispy as I like them to be. A friend of mine works here and has been inviting me to come check them out! Today is that day so here's how it went! There was also a Yelp Elite Event here that I was about 4 weeks late for, so I came with some other folks who also missed the event! Lol. Atmosphere/Appearance: Set out in East Granby, CT is this gem that lies within a lil' strip mall. The outside does this place no justice, but I'm sure if they had their own standalone building it would be done-up. Anyway, INSIDE is where all the fun is! There's so much going on no matter where you look. Once inside you can walk up to a counter to order fresh ground coffee in or some of their other baked goods. Off to the left of that is the kitchen and instructions on how to order your burrito if you want one of those. On the left side of the restaurant is a small stage for when they host live music! And finally, toward the back we have the big wrap-around bar. It was so lively and energetic here on a Friday afternoon. Service: Everything was excellent. I had no complaints and didn't want for anything. Food: The complimentary chips and salsa were very good. The salsa was super fresh and bursting with flavors. The chips were thick, crunchy and also tasted fresh. One of the funniest things about the restaurant is the amount of menus you're given when you first sit down. Lol. I received 4, one for flights, one for beer, one for happy hour and their menu of the season. It was a lot to look through, but if you have an idea of what you're looking for or have a taste for then it'll help with decision making. The margaritas I had were all a bit sweet, so I advise adding an extra shot to each one that you get. So for my entree I HAD to get a burrito. They offer several different kinds of wraps and I went with the keto wrap to up my fiber. I also added smoked chicken and carne asada as proteins. Then I added lettuce, tomato, poblano peppers and sauteed onions. It doesn't come with a side, so make sure to get one if you're really hungry, but the chips & salsa can cover that for you. The burrito was delightful. So I did get chicken and steak, but the proteins were on opposite sides of the burrito, making eating it easier and less confusing on the flavors. I loved how this was done. Value: It's mid-class Mexican food so it won't break the bank. $20.00 can satisfy you here, but if you're a drinker, you're going to need a bit more. Lol. In conclusion, I loved it here and this place felt so unique. It felt like one-of-a-kind and not like a cookie-cutter restaurant. You know what I'm talking about. Walked in and got seated right away. First time going there. Water chips and salsa came out quickly if you'd like to pour salt in your mouth from a salt shaker then eat the tortilla chips. The salsa was flavorless. We ordered our meal, burritos, with steak. And we asked for the steak to be well done. When the food came out, there was blood running out of the burrito onto the plate so we knew the meat was raw. I asked for it to be re-cooked and was given attitude about it. I told the waitress it wasn't her that we were getting up and leaving. I would never be coming back. So many other places out there that are 10 times better. What a neat restaurant!!! I never really noticed TJ's because it's kind of hidden in the small plaza it's a part of. Inside it is jam packed with nicknacks and collectors items. They've created a few special areas too; my son and I sat at a table that was placed on a raised platform, that was framed in such a way it was similar to a tiki bar. At the back end of the restaurant is a huge bar and a raised television. I'm guessing this is a fun place to hang out with friends. We tried the Coffee Flight (5 different yummy coffees) and I highly recommend it, with the gentle warning that these are like sugary Starbucks frappe-chino coffee drinks. We both ordered entrees from the Sunday Brunch menu. He had the big breakfast and enjoyed immensely... I tried the little tater tot like hash browns (my favorite kind), and those were amazing! I ordered the Sausage & Biscuits with jalapeño cheddar biscuits. It didn't have much sausage or sausage flavor and biscuits were really heavy... I *did* enjoy it, so I'm not penalizing much with my ratings. I'm going to assume it was a fluke. I probably won't order it again, but I certainly plan to go back to TJ's again! Service was very attentive and friendly. There's a code on the table that you put your phone camera over and click the link that instantly comes up, which links it to the Toast app. You order & pay on your phone, which was great. My friend and I visited TJ's Burritos in December for their special Elf-themed breakfast. We had so much fun! I had the Elf waffles, which were over the top (the way Buddy would like them), topped with cinnamon sugar fried spaghetti, M&Ms, mini marshmallows, mini nonpariels, and a raspberry sauce--delightful! The presentation was superb! We also had Elf-themed coffee flights. I left full and very content. As for the service, overall it was pretty good. We did wait a long time to order and it wasn't busy at all, but it improved after that. The place was clean, the coffee bar area was attractive, and the general beach/surf-themed decor was cute. The booths by the window are a tight fit for large people, like myself, but they do offer other seating. I will return! read more

I stopped by TJ Burritos on Monday. As I walked in, the ambiance reminded me of a Tiki bar. When I approached the counter, I was greeted with "How can I help you?" I found this a bit unusual, as I typically expect a warm welcome at a restaurant. After browsing the menu, I was served some chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh but lacked spice, so I asked for a spicier version. Unfortunately, they didn't have any, but the staff kindly brought out some jalapeños, which did the trick. I ordered a steak burrito, and given the price, I expected it to be good. About 10 to 15 minutes later, my burrito arrived. The tortilla was nicely toasted, but my first bite revealed a piece of steak with a lot of fat and gristle and cold Cajun fries. The subsequent bites were slightly better, but I couldn't find any quality steak throughout. Overall, this will be my first and last visit. read more

TJ's Burritos' was a bit of a let down today. My mom and I stopped by for a light lunch and coffee. It wasn't busy, there were around six guests sitting inside at three tables. It was very hot inside, like their AC was broken or they didn't have one. I love the look of it inside, it's clearly beach inspired, with surfboards and wicker details everywhere. First we ordered coffee, then we sat down to look at the menu. We waited, and waited over 20 minutes for coffee. I asked the girl for it again, she said "she's making it right now." I was going to get the Quinoa Bowl, but got discouraged after such slllowww coffee service. They also had a bunch of tables that haven't been turned over. It was 88 degrees outside today, but could you believe it, it was still cooler outside than inside? I got the cinnamon churro iced coffee, because I saw this flavor advertised, my mom got the cappuccino. Finally our coffees arrived. The presentation was below average. The cappuccino came in a paper cup, and the iced coffee came in a typical plastic cup. I'm saying this because I've seen them make some cool looking drinks on their Yelp page, as well as when I was there for a Yelp event. The coffee was delicious, it had a light note of cinnamon, I can't say that it tasted like churros, but that's ok. My mom enjoyed her cappuccino, but wished she got it iced instead. We sat outside with our coffees, because it was way too hot inside. There were tables with dirty dishes to the left, right and behind us. In our most recent visit to TJ's Burritos, it kept us wishing our stomachs had room to try even more things. After coming here for a Yelp event, my friends wanted to give it a go ourselves for dinner. This review is based on the dinner (not the event) Start the evening with chips and salsa that come with each table. One thing I loved about TJ's is that splitting the bill is easy. Once scanning the QR code, you can enter each name and send orders to the kitchen by person. This made a huge relief (and maybe got us to order more?) because we didn't have to figure out or tussle with the bill at the need. More restaurants need this! Ordered a kiwi raspberry refresher to start, and I wanted to highlight that it's one of the highlights of the night. I MIGHT have considered getting more refreshers rather than get a margarita flight. Almost! My mind was set on birria tacos. I was so happy that they were able to accommodate my onion/scallion allergy. The cheesy rip and birria sauce paired together for a great flavor. Some thought it was a bit salty, but nothing some margaritas can't fix? I also got a single tuna taco which was on the rotating menu. It was very balanced and i wished I could've gotten a few more (they're $6 each). My husband opted for a taco bowl and did not expect such a large portion. Not only was he full, he had leftovers for DAYS after with our tortillas at home. The margarita flight allowed my variety loving taste buds to really get a taste of everything. Don't underestimate the power of this flight. I felt it when I got home. Next time will have to do the coffee flight or mojito flights. Keep an eye on Instagram for all the varieties of flights available. Finally, I got to try a homemade pop tart from their bakery brought to the table. The rotating flavor of the week was a berry flavor. It was so good that even my husband who doesn't like berry flavor took a liking to it. Cherry on top: I will say I learned from a Yelp elite event that this locally owned business has a true heart and support for their community. I was recently at TJ's Burrito's for a Yelp event. Since I reviewed my event experience on the event page, I'm basing this review entirely on the desserts I purchased to eat at home and the service I received relating to that purchase. I bought a Brookie, Brownie and a Gourmet Pop Tart style pastry. The pop tart, even the next day, was terrific. The colors, with the pink icing and rainbow sprinkles, were beautiful. The outer press marks were cool. It tasted fresh and had great texture. Delicious. I had a sliver of the brownie. It was also awesome. My wife ate the Bookie and the rest of the Brownie over two days. Although I didn't try the Brookie this time, I've had it at a pop up market. It's stuffed with other treats. My kind if dessert. Been here a few times and I really like it but they need to work on service. I've sat at the bar and had full service a few times here . Took a group of friends on Tuesday and we sat on a booth . It was 10 am and not crowded at all. We sat for 15 minutes and the 2 waitresses never acknowledged us . We finally asked if we could place a order for coffee and meals - it was then we were informed that we had to order thru scan code or up at the counter. Would have been thoughtful if they made that clear when we first arrived . We placed our orders and eventually it came out - 1 by 1 each meal up to 5 minutes apart which wasn't very nice when you're trying to enjoy a meal together. I've heard lots about this place from some of my co-workers and decided to take the trip up to Granby to give it a try. I guess they expanded because the inside of the restaurant is a lot bigger than it appears on the outside. Very casual vibes where you can either order at the counter or via phone and they will bring your food out. Had one of their long board sampler of appetizers. Went here tonight based on some recommendations from friends and wish I didn't. Ambiance was bizarre. I think it's supposed to be tiki themed? Not sure. It was trivia night and was loud in there. Wait staff literally threw your food down, didn't ask if you needed anything and we had to ask for utensils, napkins, and drinks. The food itself was below average. I got a 'smothered' burrito ($3 extra) that didn't come smothered, I had to ask them to smother it and the girl was rude about it. The burrito was ice cold in the middle and so incredibly salty I couldn't get through it. My boyfriend got a burrito bowl that was incredibly salty as well and pretty much a glorified salad. We were excited to try this new place-- some hits, some misses but overall a good experience. I couldn't tell you what the inside looked like since we sat outside, but they did what they could to spruce up the parking lot! The young girls serving everyone were pleasant and seated us as soon as we walked up. Chips and salsa were brought over (fresh made? Nice and salted). I had my eye on their queso with spiced beef appetizer on the specials menu and we were so thrilled with it-- best queso I've had! Came in a small cast iron skillet, piping hot. This item needs to be on the permanent menu! We also started with a coffee flight--my advice is to let them sit for a few minutes. Initially, all I could taste was strong coffee and none of the flavors. As time went on, it gave the drink time for the flavors to meld. Really liked the coconut cold brew and the brown sugar! I went with apps for my dinner after that queso. The taquitos were pretty good, 2 to the order. The empanadas (chorizo and shrimp) however, were so saturated with oil that they weren't enjoyable at all-- the oil taste was overwhelming. Hubby had a burrito (with steak for an extra $4) and said it had a nice amount of steak in it! Nice amount of options for customization. I've had TJ's bookmarked for a while and thought it would be the perfect stop on our way home from Northampton today. We kind of lucked out, because they're normally closed on Sunday but were open today with a limited menu (breakfast only) because there was a baseball card show next door. We went with a $6 Breakfast Sandwich on an Everything Bagel with Ham and Monterrey Jack. I went with an $8 Breakfast Burrito with Vegan Sausage ($2 upgrade), and all of these for free - Monterey Jack, Black Beans, Onions, Chives, Crimini Mushrooms, Jalapenos, Corn, Salsa, Sautéed Peppers, and tomatoes. That burrito was so massive, it was as thick as a brick. I loved it, a real combination of tastes and textures and colors. At $10, it makes for two pretty hearty portions. We met the owners, Tricia and Jeremy, and they told us the menu would be expanding tomorrow as they anticipate more on-site dining. Can't wait to dig a little deeper into their menu. Wish I could rate higher but - half brown quac - stale chips - tough chicken and steak fajitas - and not cheap- no more for me.

I would have given this place two stars but the drinks and service were good. If it was a bar, no food, a 5 star rating at minimum. Staff are super nice and drinks are made with care and balance and technique that would impress John Taffer. The food? I got my empanadas and they looked kind of like pierogi, but who am I to judge. I knew this chef had a good reputation and worked at Great Awakening, which I've always thoroughly enjoyed. Against my better judgement and as a person who can fry food, I tried the empanada. Cold in center. Cold chicken in greasy dough. I get a bowl with pork carnitas meat, cilantro rice, lettuce, sour cream and cheddar cheese. To my utter dismay it was..crunchy. The carnitas had the texture of whip city beef Jersey, which normally I enjoy, but not in my burrito bowl. I added the sauce from my empanadas to moisten it. It's not often I wish I just stayed home and smoked my salmon. I was sad. HOWEVER. My husbands portobello and sweet potato burrito was absolutely to die for, so take this with a grain of salt. I first went to TJ's for yelp elite event. And there was an incident that happened none of the staff stepped in nor did the owners even though I had drunk belligerent men degrading me one put their hand on my thigh and everything. They were beyond mad calling me all sorts of names I would think that the staff members or owner would have stepped in. But since that was an outside patreon harassing me I decided to go with one of my best friends to try it out on my own. And well my experience still wasn't great or amazing that I would want to come back... First off when we arrived it was around 7pm. Not huge dinner rush. They had about four inside tables and plenty of bar spots available. A lot of people were staying for trivia which I didn't know they had which I ended up joining. But I would like to sit down and a booth I tried to explain to the young waitress that I have a bad ankle too bad knees and a lower back issue but she insisted that she needed to save that table for a party of four. I totally could maybe understand this if it was really during Peak dinner hours but it was after 7:00. But I decided to sit in the high table setting where I'm only 5'1 so I have to climb up until the chairs. I'll be honest I really hate higher dinner settings because of my height and my injuries. And legit maybe 5 minutes after we sat down a table of four with a high place setting opened up. I watched the booth and it finally did get filled up at like 7:45 but again they had another setting of four that was empty the whole night. I will say we had the $5 raspberry margaritas and they were good.... We also got tacos. And I have to say the dipping sauce was very unusual it was almost like a tomato sauce. And the tacos were actually starting to get soggy on one side which wasn't that appealing. They also have fresh made salsa which is mostly chopped tomatoes onions a hint of cilantro but no salt or any kind of seasoning in it. Also the service was kind of odd my friend and I sat there with empty glasses and nobody came over to ask if we wanted more water I didn't know if we had to like walk up and ask for it from the bar but someone came over to clear the dishes and I asked him for two glasses of water and he didn't even say anything he just came back with two glasses the customer service was just off. Doo doo my Yelp Elite event I did know which two people were the owners and they completely ignored our table didn't ask how everything was one of them overheard me asking if I could sit in the booth and then saying hey I have really bad injuries and my height. Overall the staff and owners ignored me like they ignored me the night of the Yelp event when that guy was yelling at me calling me the c word the B word and I sat there miserable looking.... Meh I will say I did enjoy the trivia game and the trivia DJ and the margarita that's why they're getting two stars. read more

In an unfortunate turn of events, I had to postpone writing my review of TJs Burritos because I accidentally left my to-go 4th of July Special Poptart at the table, and didn't realize until I got home. I mourned this loss until just now when I received a special delivery from my dear friend Jen H. Since the Poptart caused all the drama, we might as well start there. It was WELL worth the wait! The blueberry Poptart was flakey and choc full of blueberry jam (with real blueberries inside). It's one of those treats you just have to add on to the meal even if you're already stuffed. Now, rewind about a month, my friends and I went to TJs for drinks and dinner. We had the summer margarita flight, which was a fun experience, and we each had a different favorite flavor, so points for all of them! I liked the mix of spicy and non spicy flavors. For dinner we had birria tacos, birria French dip and a chicken bowl. The chicken bowl was absolutely massive, and the birria meat was tender and well seasoned. Just one comment, the birria sauce is not the traditional consomé, but rather a thicker sauce that reminded me of enchilada sauce. We also ended the night with a 4th of July Cocktail of the Day. Although we love a $5 cocktail special, this one was just way too sugary and we weren't able to finish it. Points for being adorable and IG worthy though ;) One thing that can really make a restaurant for me is easy group ordering, and TJs has that. Though we dined in we were directed to order online, and each person could order from their own phone making the separation of the bill super easy at the end of the meal. As a bonus, we were still able to submit our order all together so the food arrived at the same time. I always keep restaurants like this in mind when dining out with large groups. I look forward to coming back to TJ's to try their brunch and coffee flights! read more
