Sometimes you get a craving for a really big juicy burger. I get them a lot! You can definitely say TJ's Roadhouse satisfies that. In fact, every time I try to order something else, like the steak sandwich or the cheese steak I wind up with another burger. Which is okay. And choice of sweet potato or regular fries. Good ol' TJ's! What's not to love? My only complaint is; it gets busy! In all honesty though, that is a pretty darn good sign that the place is good! My family and I go for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I feel like I'm coming home when we step foot into TJ's there's something relaxing about knowing you are going to get great food no matter what you order! Let's start with breakfast! The chicken fried steak is HUGE, tender, just the right amount of crispiness and smothered in fresh sausage gravy...have that served with traditional hash browns or their home fries that are tasty with bits of peppers and onions. The breakfast burrito is also HUGE and served with fresh guac and salsa. I always order their corned beef with hash, the flavor is soooo good! I ALWAYS order breakfast with one of their mimosas that they serve heavy on the champagne like it should be, ask for a mimosa sunrise and they will splash cranberry in it. ALL their burgers are good, I like them served RARE and they come the way they are ordered. Their teriyaki burger with mushrooms is to DIE for! The flavors of the sauce, delicious meat and yummy mushrooms! Their French dip is good and is served the classic way; the au jus is super beefy! They come up with great dinner specials all the time, anything from fresh salmon to pasta dishes and the all-time favorite prime rib! I have not had a burger that juicy and flavorful in such a long time. My family all enjoyed their food. We sat outside due to having two dogs, but they had a table set up for us and service was quick. I recommend this place for burgers and sandwiches. Definitely a favorite place. read more

Stop by on Presidents' Day on my way back from Lake Tahoe. Waited 15 minutes to be sat. When we were sat The server said she would be right back. We sat and sat and sat. Another person stop by and said they'll be right with us. They finally brought our drinks. And I never saw them again. Because we got up and walked out. Horrible horrible service. This time we had the breakfast burrito (which carries some heat) and the chicken fried steak & eggs with biscuits and gravy on the side. Their gravy is delicious! Service this time was very attentive but there were only a few other tables to compete with. Last time we went they were much busier and the service reflected it. I went there because the powers been out for days and haven't been able to cook. I wanted to just get a decent lunch. I ended up ordering the meatloaf sandwich. When I got my food it didn't look appetizing also barely edible...the meatloaf wasn't even a whole sliced, more like pieces and burnt edges crumbly too..and the bacon wrapped around it resembling rubber more than bacon. I tried to consuming it...again, as I was starving and just couldn't. It tasted burnt with a strange after taste forcing me to put it down. The chips were edible thankfully but, that was the side. Waited for a waitress to come and ask how everything was and realizing it wasn't gonna happen...cause right then I would've said it was terrible. Realizing again at that moment it's beyond the effort it's takes...the restaurant at the time wasn't busy and the waitress seemed reoccupied with anything but me...and when she finally did...it was to ask "can I take your plate" not even a notice that I didn't eat more than a 1/3 of it and still no word of asking if my meal was okay or enjoyed. I knew it was definitely useless and not even bother trying to inform. This gave me the decision and maybe a better way to in today's world to formalize my complaint and go through the set up on Yelp to give my very first review. If I'm a local, getting treated like this I can only imagine how they treat the loads of tourists. Not that I deserve anymore either... I guess that's what you can get away with when you have a location next to busy hwy80 and constant flow of customers. Simply put in my observation and experience, a lack luster product and nonchalant service to see if your customers are satisfied. I'm my world I couldn't ever keep by business running if I performed like this. Needless to say I will not be back for anything. I work waaay too hard to throw my hard earned dollars away even if I'm starving and out of power for going on almost two weeks. It's a shame too, because I always want to support local but, I'd be foolish to do so as the service and quality of food was terrible. As long as mediocrity at best is the standard...it's certainly NO wonder this country is in the current situation and TJ's is at the top of the list in my opinion. read more

Drove from Roseville to Colfax today just for a BLT sandwich..and it was worth the trip. Thick sliced bacon on toasted rye (choice of bread) with lettuce and tomatoes that actually tasted a lot like tomatoes. A rare thing these days. This is a rustic place - western theme - with excellent service. Rumor has it that their hamburgers are even better than the BLT's. A fine place to stop for breakfast, lunch or dinner on the way to or from Reno from the Valley or Bay Area. We'll be back. read more

We've only been here a couple of times...fun place, great waitstaff, good food, good prices. Last time on our way from Reno to Sacramento, the wife and I stopped, I had a burger with jalapeno and green chili and it rocked. I'd actually rate it a 4.5. Food was excellent. Small staff was pretty quick even with the large group that came in the same time I did. The only thing is, although they offer a lettuce wrap for burgers, it wasn't much of a wrap. But since I got a side salad instead of fries I just turned it into a giant salad. read more

My husband and I stopped there tonight for dinner. He had a large beautiful salad, New York steak (medium rare) veggi's and a baked potato and a glass of red wine. I had the TJ's burger. 1/2 lb burger, bacon, cheese, lettuce and tomato and onions on a homemade onion bun and fries with pickles on the side and a Pepsi. The steak was tender and cooked just right, perfect! My burger was as well with lots of bacon and cheese. The lettuce and tomato were wonderfully fresh and the onion bun held it all together. The fries were great. I don't know the name of the chief but that man (or woman) knows how to cook comfort food. We'll be back soon.
