I've been wanting to part ways with franchise sandwich places for a while now, so searched through Yelp recently. I'm so happy I found this sub sandwich shop! The owner is super nice, and the place looks tidy. Today was my first time, and I ordered a large tuna sandwich - it was fresh and delicious. I like how she made the tuna mix spread. It's very flavorful. I can't wait to come back and try their other options. I may ask her to beef up the fillings a bit though, as I'm not much of a "bread person." Highly recommended. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the Cerritos area! The store itself is clean and has lots of seats available. My dad loves their sandwiches because it's simple, tasty, and the bread is sooo soft! We really appreciate the reasonable prices, especially considering the large portion sizes and quality of the ingredients. We usually order the super sub. Please do not mistake my honesty for anything more than it is. The food was very okay. Probably the most basic faire you'll find. That being said, the owners are very sweet and extremely appreciative of business. Although the food isn't stand out, the people are worth the price. I had high hopes for this place after reading the reviews, but realized I should've listened to the Yelpers that rated it lower instead. Came here today for lunch to support small businesses during these tough times. I ordered a Large roast beef sandwich which I paid about $11for. The sandwich barely had any roast beef !!! C'mon now, stuffing my sandwich with lettuce to make the sandwich look large isn't going to cut it...these small mom n pop shops need to give a reason for customers to come back and a decent amount of meat will do. I didn't order a lettuce sandwich with roast beef...I ordered a ROAST BEEF sandwich with lettuce!!! And for this reason I do not recommend this place. This is a Cali classic, same principle as our burger spots and donut spots, meaning the mom and pop shops are gems and have the best food. Someone said go to Jersey Mikes...HARD PASS. I love their vegetarian sub and the bread is perfectly soft and fluffy. The veggie sandwich comes with sprouts which I personally think goes well with the other ingredients but you can ask to omit those if they aren't your thing. The ladies at the counter are very friendly. Many of their large sandwiches are cheaper than a regular sub at Jersey Mike's. Shop is located in the small plaza on the corner of Artesia and Pioneer, parking isn't usually a problem, but if it's really busy you can park in the Walgreens lot and make the short walk over. read more

Stopped by on the way home. When you first walk in it's a cute little sandwich shop with the old school menu board lettering. We ordered 3 sandwiches, the tj sub, avocado turkey and roast beef. We also ordered a small side of the potato salad. The sandwich was cut in half and individually wrapped which was nice. The avocado turkey and tj sub were pretty good but the roast beef definitely didn't have any flavor or a taste to them. I tried another sub asked for everything on it. The sandwich is good.. It doesn't quite have the zing with onions, peppers, and lack of dressing on the sandwiches. The sandwich does last the next day though. They know how to make sandwiches, but I have eaten tastier sandwiches. Don't expect any smiles or warmth in this basic old-school-style sandwich shop but count on a decent sub sandwich at a great price. This mom & pop shop has been around forever and a day but it was just recently that I came in to grab a sandwich for the first time. There are about 8 tables inside. Two people were in line in front of me yet I was still out the door in about 5 minutes. Order off the menu board; I chose a turkey avocado. I was asked if I wanted tomato, lettuce, onion and pepperoncini ("no onion, please") and then waited for the lady making the sandwiches to work her magic. No choice of bread - you get their fresh, pillowy-soft & thick sub sandwich bread. There was a lot of avocado and lettuce, not so much turkey. They put light mayo on it but no seasoning. The pepperoncini gave many of my bites a much needed kick. I enjoyed it as much as, if not more than, what's offered at any chain sandwich shop despite its blandness. read more

Yum! This is a great little sandwich shop to grab lunch at. I have been twice now, and on both visits I was very happy with my food. - Cheap! Both times I have been my lunch was less than $8 for an Arizona green tea and a "small" sandwich - small is big enough! - Fast! First time I went in and ordered. They were slammed, but I didn't wait more that 7 minutes for my sandwich. Today I called it in and it was ready when I got there about 10 minutes later. - Delicious! I love their super soft rolls and all of the ingredients they use are great. I have now had the turkey avocado and the hot roast beef, both times the sandwiches were dressed perfectly and had just the right amount of toppings. - Nice! The ladies that work here are super sweet and friendly, and they haven't yet enforced the $10 minimum for credit card on me. Also Ordered Beef, Bacon and cheese the beef was raw and not much of it and hardly any of the bacon. They were both dry and when you took a bite all you tasted was the bread. We won't be back. We were craving for sandwiches and decided to try this place as they had some unique items we have not seen before. When we received the sandwiches we were disappointed on the quality of the overall sandwiches. The first thing I noticed was how little servings they gave for the inside of the sandwich. There was not enough meat and very little vegetables as in tomatoes and lettuce given in each of our sandwiches. As for the bread it was not that soft it was a bit on the chewy side which made it hard to finish and chew. I suggest to ask for extra toppings to help you get full to get your money's worth. Some of the meat slices are on the thinner side and you can barely taste them which unfortunately left us still feeling hungry and wasted about 30 dollars worth of food. You can customize any sandwich but they charge the same even if you take out plenty of the toppings. They do not have any pictures on the types of sandwiches they have so you might want to ask what they are to make sure you are ordering the correct item. They do not include a description of what the sandwich is it only tells you if it is a warm or cold sandwich. They also have salad bowls and soup of the day as part of the menu. The interior of the restaurant is still the same from years back and have not changed much. This is the only sandwich shop I have been to where the soda fountains are behind the counter and you have to ask them every time you need a soda refill. read more

I've been going to TJ's for years and have never had a bad sandwich or bad experience. My go to sandwich is the veggie sandwich on a roll with everything which includes cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, sprouts, avocado, Mayo and mustard. I change it up time to time and get rye bread. Always fresh ingredients, always timely when I order, and always amazing customer service. I usually call in advance to place my pick up order and it takes 10 minutes. The best sandwiches around.
