Stopped by for a drink and decided on a lychee pear blossom fruit tea with lychee jelly. Service was quick since there were not many people. The drink had refreshing fruity and floral notes, and the lychee jellies were delicious. Interior was clean and seemed like a good place to do work or study.
Delicious and quick service. Clean bathroom and can see people like to work here. Tip is to bring your student ID for discount. 50% sweetness level is perfect. I recommend the lychee juice if you like fruity teas! The pudding is different than typical ones you get at boba places, similar to almond pudding. The camellia oolong milk tea is kind of half way between milk and tea, light.
I am obsessed with one thing and one thing only from Bopomofo. It is Corn Milk with Strawberry Sorbet. It is truly unlike any other corn milk at any other place on the planet, and I've had corn milk in Thailand and Vietnam. I think they've shared that they use corn juice, paired with milk. The tartness of the strawberry sorbet is a perfect pairing with the sweet, almost decadent corn milk. To me, it's a fun and perfectly balanced sweet treat. I would definitely recommend checking Bopomofo out just for the Corn Milk, although I cannot speak to the rest of the menu. It's all I order haha.
Review 48/365 Day Challenge This was my 1st time visiting a Bopomodo Cafe, on Mother's Day. Getting my Boba fix 5.11.25 I've had their boba drinks b4 but it was delivered by my hubby. This time i had the occasion to step foot in one. After my dinner in the area. What I ordered ~ Assam Milk Tea was good. Fragrant tea flavor. Not overly sweet and caffeine tea wasn't strong. Which i like. ~ Jasmine Milk Tea i liked better than the assam mt. Definitely recommended ~ Boba was good, chewy and soft. Would love to return in future and try their popcorn chicken and other eateries. Associate was friendly and receive our drinks in a timely manner Boba shop was simple with a dragon mural art on the walls. Very clean with indoor and outdoor seatings. Located near Jollibee, same plaza as Cafe 86 with lots of parking available.
BEST POPCORN CHICKEN EVER! It's so hard lately to find a boba shop that serves good popcorn chicken. I'm so glad I finally have a go to spot now. They give you the option of spicy or nonspicy. They even have the option to choose from dark meat or white meat. The quality is perfect. I've been to places where the chicken is so small you can only taste the batter but this place makes it perfectly. Spicy is good and taste is good! Highly recommend coming here for your popcorn chicken cravings.
Placed the order ahead of time via DoorDash and everything was ready upon arrival. I took the wrong exit off of 605 so I wasn't sure if my food would become soggy by the time I make it. Much to my surprise, everything stayed not only warm but CRISPY!! No sogginess in sight or taste! Incredible, knowing everything I ordered was topped with wet toppings or coleslaw/ vegetables. I couldn't help but devour my entire case of mapo tofu tots before even leaving the parking lot. Omg. Talk about flavor explosion nicely complimented by the wonderfully crispy tots!!! And the nori fish sandwich?! The best tasting fried cod sandwich I've had since moving to the US. IT WAS SO DAMN DELICIOUS MY DOG MANAGED TO POACH HALF OF IT!! She's not wrong. It's absolutely WORTH IT! The spicy Taiwanese fried chicken sandwich was also OMG. The buns were subtly sweet and the accompanying veggies sandwiched between the crispy chicken was just perfect. I don't think there was a single item I ordered that I wouldn't get on repeat. I can't wait to return for more and try other items. It's too bad the nori fish sandwich isn't a permanent menu item. I better hurry and go back for more gobbles!
First time here and I would absolutely come back again! Plenty of parking but because it's centered in a plaza you might have to drive around a loop or too when it's busy. Staff was helpful in recommending specific items based on what my likes were. They have a few different seating options with a long communal rectangle table with stools, a couple round tables with 4 chairs, and I believe a table outside big enough for 2. There was a few people studying which means it is mostly quiet and in the calmer side of noise level. They have a self serve water spout with cups on the side I had the spicy popcorn chicken with basil aioli. You can choose from white or dark meat, I chose white and it wasn't very juicy but tasted very clean and light, I very much enjoyed it! Definitely on the spicier side but the basil aioli helps cool it down. I also order the triple strawberry matcha and I enjoyed how strong it was!
If you're looking for a delicious shrimp sandwich, this is the spot. The Honey Walnut Shrimp Burger has a house made shrimp patty that's perfectly fried. Making it a combo adds Mini Mapo tots, tater tots topped with mapo tofu. My husband loves the cheese and adds it for a $1 more. The chicken sandwich is also a repeat order for us. Delicious food and drinks that keeps us coming back. Limited seating inside. We usually order online to avoid waiting. This spot is located in a very busy strip mall of resteraunts and parking can be a bit chaotic depending on the time of day.
First off, congratulations to Phil, Eric, and everyone else on the Bopomofo Cafe team on their seven-year anniversary. They opened in 2019, but I didn't get around to visiting any of their locations until late 2023, since I live in the Bay Area. The Artesia location was the first one I checked out, and it's the one I've been to the most since then (with San Diego in a close second). The best way I can describe my experience at Bopomofo Cafe is that I feel seen. I grew up straddling the line between two different cultures, and struggled with my identity as a Taiwanese-American. I've grown a lot in embracing that identity since then, and Bopomofo's offerings feel like further affirmation of my ethnic journey. I mainly come to Bopomofo for the food, although I do enjoy the drinks too. I've tried their honey walnut shrimp burger, Taiwanese chicken sandwich, nori fish sandwich, and mapo tots, and I've enjoyed them all. They have a harmonious blend of flavors that touches on both the Taiwanese and American foods I've enjoyed throughout my life. My go-to drink is the blueberry matcha latte, and I've enjoyed the BA-LA matcha and B.O.G. as well. For this Artesia location specifically, it's a nice and chill cafe atmosphere with cool original artwork on the walls and sufficient seating. (I've struggled with finding seating at the San Diego location, but I do what I can.) Every time I make visits back down to SoCal, I make it a priority to stop by Bopomofo Cafe. I'm still holding out hope for a location to open up here in the Bay Area, but until then, I'm happy to continue visiting the existing shops.
I really enjoy coming to this BOPOMOFO location! I've come several times now, and I like stopping by either for a meal or even if it's just for a drink or a little snack when I'm in the area. For drinks, my go-to has been their Blueberry Matcha! It's so yummy! I've also discovered a new favorite, the Mint Matcha Latte. It has matcha, oat milk, and muddled mint. Very refreshing, but I wish it came in a larger size as well. I appreciate that all of their drinks have an alternative milk or lactose-free milk! Their food items are so creative! I like the unique, modern take on classic Taiwanese foods! Of course their Popcorn Chicken is always a classic. I wasn't sure if I'd like the Vegetarian Popcorn Chicken, but it's actually really good too! Their Heritage Braised Pork Belly Bowl is also another fave--it's consistently good! It comes with braised pork belly, shiitake mushrooms, mustard greens, soy egg, and fried onions. I've been consistently going back to the Hainan Chicken Tacos. These come with shredded Hainan Chicken, ginger scallion salsa, sweet chili sauce, fried chicken rice, sweet pickled onion, and cilantro on a warm blue corn tortilla. Great combination of textures and flavors. Plus, they're 20% off on Taco Tuesday! The Beef Noodle Soup Sandwich is also super tasty. It really tastes like beef noodle soup in sandwich form! Mapo Tots are a good snack or side option as well. I like that BOPOMOFO offers seasonal menu items, so there's always new food and drinks to look forward to and try! Parking is available in the shared lot of the shopping plaza. It can get pretty full, but I've never had trouble finding a spot. Order at the counter and wait for your name to be called to pick up your food. They have tables available inside if you want to enjoy your food and drinks there.
Located off South St in Artesia. Parking is shared with all the businesses in the plaza and it gets crowded with all the eating places here. The place is not too big there is one large long table along with two small round tables. They do have one restroom as well. The staff were friendly and helpful. I got the strawberry matcha it was good it's up there on my list. Overall had a good experience and I'll be back again.
We placed an online order on a Tuesday evening to grab a quick bite for dinner. There was no line and no one else in the store when I came to pick it up. The store is nice and clean, the workers were friendly. The only thing I disliked was that the chairs/stools were backless, but that's just cause I like leaning behind something when I sit, haha. We ordered the Mapo Tots, Spicy Popcorn Chicken, and Taiwanese Fried Chicken sandwich. We didn't order any drinks. The Mapo Tots were SO FREAKING GOOD!! It was a bit on the oilier side, but somehow the tator tots were still so crispy. They put the perfect amount of cheese and green onions to balance out the tots and tofu. The actual mapo flavor was definitely there too...Would 100% order again. The spicy popcorn chicken was delicious as well. It was a bit on the saltier side, but the spices and aioli really brought it altogether. The Taiwanese Fried Chicken was SO DELICIOUS as well. I loved that you're able to choose the cut of meat you want for it online. We ended up going with the breast meat and it did not disappoint. It was so juicy and LEAN and the breading was perfectly crispy. SO GOOD!!! We added a fried egg to the order and it was a solid quick meal that satisfied our cravings LOL. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to take a picture of the chicken items we got, because we had already taken bites out of them but take that as a testament to how yummy this place is. I would definitely recommend this place for when you're craving something savory and quick!
Ordered the Hey Sesame Milk drink and I am not sure what I was expecting as far as flavor, but it was worth the wait to get it! I came here after lunch at one of the nearby restaurants for a sweet treat. It must have been a lunch rush because it took about 20 minutes for my drink to be ready. The servers let everyone know as they ordered that the wait might be a while, so nothing I could find a complaint about. I know it's a cafe, but none of the food options seemed to appeal to me to encourage a next visit. I will likely come back for another beverage.
First time getting the green onion scallion chicken wrap. I really liked the taste and that it had a lot of chicken. The portion was great if you wanted to not be super full. The only downside was that the wrap started to get a little soggy. At that point I would've preferred to eat it with a knife and fork. Would I get it again? Yes! I'd just ask for a knife and fork once it gets to that point. Location is in a busy plaza but parking is ample. It can get a little bright inside depending on where you are sitting so I would suggest bringing sunglasses just in case. read more

Been here multiple times but always forget to review. Love this spot and love supporting Phil from Wong fu! This location is in a plaza so parking isn't a problem, plenty of indoor seating and some outside. Service has been friendly everytime we've come. We got: Guava oolong: (5/5) got 50% sweet and it was still really nicely balanced Lychee pear blossom (5/5) really like how they use real fruit with quality tea and you can taste it Popcorn chicken (5/5) crispy and good flavor. Like the sauces as well Hainan chicken tacos (5/5) super satisfying and had some crunch too it with the added crispies Lu rou fan (5/5) great flavor as well wish it came with more of the sauce! Overall bopo never disappoints and if you're reading this Phil please open one in South Bay! read more
Okay still 5 stars overall, but I gotta be honest bout the large scallion pancake chicken wrap. Thank you for bringing it to other locations! Was excited to finally try it. Flavor was good at 4.5+/5, and like the nori fish sando, this felt like an elevated and Asian-Americanized snack wrap. However, the size was a little overhwelming. My friend and I thought a few medium-sized chicken pieces rather than the huge piece would be nice, as it did feel a bit heavy toward the end. The veggies were appreciated, though I may have liked them even better if the carrots were a little either blanched or pickled? The sauce was very thin/runny, so it kept spilling out of the other side. I understand that thickening might require thickeners, however, so my thoughts are mixed on that. Guava Wang was great! I think i like the OG a bit better. Loved that I got it free with a $20 purchase. ? High Mountain Paradise? Guava Oolong latte was great! But oddly, maybe too creamy? Maybe just a preference thing since I am older than genZ, but next time I would ask for no cream cap or maybe just the cream cap :). Don't worry, I will be back! read more

Been meaning to try Bopomofo but I live in NorCal so haven't had a chance until today! The hojicha latte is less intense than what I'm used to but still kept me up all night. The dark meat popcorn chicken is probably my favorite thing here. It did not disappoint. The beef noodle sandwich was an interesting experience and literally tasted like pho in a sandwich. The walnut shrimp sandwich was underwhelming and too dry for my taste. Staff were friendly, seating is limited. read more

This is a cafe that loves! Ive wanted to come here for so long; im glad it didnt dissappoint! Strawberry matcha - new on the menu - absolutely perfect. Just what you'd expect but with more strawberry and doesn't overpower the matcha The brown sugar drink - amazing with pudding! Walnut tots - a seasonal item. Perfect glaze. Each tot has that crispy exterior Pork over rice - what a homely taste! Better than expected The space is small but somehow theres plenty of seating. Minimal cool vibes. Bopomofo Cafe is a popular cafe chain! This chain was opened by the famous Phil Wang from WongFu, and I will say it has definitely improved over the years. This spot in Artesia has existed for a couple of years, and I really enjoy it. This location has great seating and interior designs. I really like the ambiance! The service was also really nice! Very friendly and quick. The Butter Honey Tots were tasty, although a little too sweet for my tastes. The drinks were both pretty good! I liked my BALA Matcha Latte a lot actually! Overall, Bopomofo Cafe remains a great cafe location! read more

Came here around lunch time and there was no line. Phil Wang was actually there when I went and he brought my food out. It was cool seeing him there helping out. I should've gotten a pic. I got the mapo tots, triple strawberry matcha latte, and the shaken espresso. The mapo tots were what I came here for, per recommendation from my friend, and it was delicious. The tots were crispy and the mapo tofu had good flavor. If I had to comment on anything it would be I wish there was more mapo tofu and cheese on my tots. The triple strawberry matcha latte was decent. Good strawberry taste and flavor. I do wish the matcha taste was stronger but I personally like stronger matches. The shaken espresso was good. I liked that I could taste the coffee pretty well. Good balance/ratio. read more

Bopomofo came highly rated by a friend who frequents the area so we had to give it a try. Nice space with lots of tables. Very sleek decor. We ordered 2 Ba-La matches one with oat milk, a Jasmine Green tea, and popcorn chicken. Everything was very tasty. The popcorn chicken was so addicting. MY NEW FAVORITE GUILTY PLEASURE PLACE I'm obsessed. I'm literally still here eating the last few bites but I couldn't wait to review. We ordered: The Taiwanese Chicken Sandwich (Spicy) + Combo with Mapo Tofu Tots The Beef Noodle Soup Sandwich 10/10!!! I really love the concept of Bopomofo bringing a modern take on Taiwanese food and culture to the mainstream, and that they stand for top notch ingredients and make everything in house. TL;DR: Quality of food and drinks are great, and the service is exceptional, but it's definitely at one of the highest price points. DRINKS: 5/5. My favorite drink to order is the BALA matcha. If you love guava, you have to try it. It's a bit on the sweeter side but a great balance of sweet and earthy, and perfect for a hot summer day. They also have really tasty non-caffeinated options like the HEY sesame milk, strawberry corn milk, and taro sweet milk. The only drink I found underwhelming was the hoji-corn latte. At that price point, I was hoping both flavors would come out stronger. Their boba is always QQ (chewy). I wish they had grass jelly. Come on guys, grass jelly is authentic Taiwanese! FOOD: 4.5/5. The Taiwanese fried chicken sandwich: 5/5. The sandwich of my dreams. It's like my childhood breakfast and fav street food snack all in one. The aoli adds a nice modern twist. Eat it upside down if you want more of the pineapple bun (sweeter) flavor lol! Honey walnut shrimp burger: 4.5/5. Doesn't really taste like honey walnut shrimp because of the sauce, but I didn't mind- it's still very tasty. According my husband, it needed to be covered in mayo But I understand, "shrimp patty sandwich" doesn't sound that appetizing. That being said, the shrimp patty is delicious. Kinda those fried shrimp balls you can eat at dimsum. Heritage Braised Pork Belly: 3.5/5. This is their lu rou fan. I really wanted to love it, but I couldn't with the like 1:8 meat to rice ratio. That said, that IS how they often serve it in Taiwan haha (authentic?). But for the price, I was hoping for some more meat. At least there was enough pork fat/oil to flavor all the rice? I was also disappointed that they chose a long grain rice instead of short grain. Taiwanese are all about the QQ!! The texture comes out mushy, rather than chewy, and I felt it didn't pair as well with the sauce. THE EGG, however, was 10/10!!! Braised, jammy, and yet served WARM! So rare not to get a cold marinated jammy egg like most ramen places. SERVICE: 5/5. They have exceptional service, which is unheard of for a boba place. They give good recs, are patient, and apologize for the sometimes long waits, and if you don't like your drink or the sweetness is off, they'll happily remake it for you. PRICE: 2/5. My only gripe about Bopomofo. Their drinks are already on the highest end of the boba price range, and then they charge tax on top of it, so even for a regular sized drink, you can easily come out of the store with an $8+ drink. They also don't have a rewards program. Because of that, it can never be my go-to every day boba fix, and I usually only come for the flavors that would be hard to find at other shops. For example, 7 Miles tea lab next door is slightly cheaper, also good quality tea, and doesn't charge tax! The line is always reasonable if you're not coming at a super peak hour. Same thing for parking. There some seating, but I wouldn't bank on getting a seat since it's usually busy. Plus it's loud, not super comfortable, and you're surrounded by people waiting for their orders. If you need longer catchup time, I recommend the outdoor seating options in the BCD plaza outdoor. Congratulations Bopomofo on making it to Downtown Disney!! Can't wait to visit and hoping to get some ~Family Mart~ vibes :D read more

I love coming to this place. The drinks are so fresh. If you are in the area you should check out their drinks. The service is great. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. I also had some popcorn chicken and it was good. The ambiance is good and spacious. I would recommend coming to this place after lunch. The parking can get a little crazy. read more

I can't get enough of Bopomofo right now in 2025 and all of their drinks and food. They are unique, and all their ingredients are top-notch; my favorite is they do lactose-free milk in all of their drinks. They also have a popular rotation of seasonal drinks! This cafe would only be okay for studying or eating in a group because of the limited tables; they only have one long table. Here is everything I've tried below: - 4/5 Milk teas are solid but nothing too special - 4/5 Flavored matcha - 4/5 Tator tots pair with any of your meals here are perfectly crispy and non-greasy - 5/5 Popcorn Chicken Bento: Everything is well rounded, the slaw is perfect, and the rice pairs with the chicken well. - 5/5 Strawberry Corn Milk: tastes like a damn corn on the cob in a drink but so unique and good. First time trying their Artesia location! I ordered the hey sesame milk and Taiwanese fried chicken sandwich. I'm so glad they had the sesame milk as they can run out fast because of the process of making it. It was so good! It had a nice sesame flavor and wasn't too sweet. As for the Taiwanese fried chicken sandwich, it took a while for them to make but it was worth the wait. I love how fresh the bread was, definitely high quality. The chicken was so good and crispy and I love the aioli sauce they use. Bopomofo has became my favorite boba spot now. I hope to come back soon and try more items on their menu! read more

I've been wanting to try bopomofo for so long, I feel like it's always been so hyped up. And when I came to California, this was one of the spots I knew I had to visit. Sadly, I was kind of underwhelmed. The servers were sooo nice, so the experience there was still good. And I love that they were doing certain deals like, getting a free drink with certain menu options when it's raining out. (Because the prices were quite pricey!) But I think I just expected more from the food. The popcorn chicken was kind of dry, in my opinion. But to be fair, they had run out of dark meat. So it was just the white meat. But then again, we were there on a Friday afternoon, so we were kind of surprised to hear they had run out. But, the flavors were all there. The honey walnut shrimp burger was what I was most excited for. And while it was a really good fried shrimp burger, it didn't really give me honey walnut shrimp vibes. It just tasted like shrimp with like a wasabi mayo. It was really filling though! As for the drinks, we were still not impressed. Since we were using the free drink deal, we were limited to the basic options. Part of me is like, ok usually people hype up the specialty drinks, maybe that's why these are disappointing. But then another part of me is like, but the basics should be amazing too! I wasn't a big fan of the flavor of the honey roasted ooling milk tea. I heard about Bopomofo for awhile and finally got to try it! I ordered the strawberry corn milk with boba and it was surprisingly good. A bit weird at first cause ...corn...right? But it grows on you and the hint of strawberry compliments it really well even though it's very subtle. It's not just muddle strawberry, but more of a strawberry sorbet so it didn't mix in immediately. The boba was soft and chewy, but not overcooked. The wait time was pretty long for two drinks. If time wasn't a factor next time,I would definitely come back and try their food as I have heard positive things about their food more than their drinks at this location. read more

Honey walnut shrimp is my favorite order whenever we eat at a Chinese restaurant. I still remember when Bopomofo was being built and when they finally opened. My children have eaten there and told me about their signature item, the Honey walnut shrimp burger. Up until now, I never made an opportunity to try it. I think mainly because I was told that it was pricey for a sandwich. So now I can honestly say I have tried it for myself and I can give an honest critique of the Honey Walnut Shrimp Burger. The shrimp patty was cook to a perfect golden brown crispness and by itself it was perfect, but it would not be a complete HWS Sandwich. So they put it in between a Hawaiian bun, with a walnut mayonnaise with pickles and jalapeno. That is Bopomofo's creation, but I think to stay true to what HWN shrimp should be is maybe put honey with the mayonnaise and take away the relish and jalapeño. My kids were correct in saying it's pricey. Just for the HWN shrimp sandwich, it was a whopping $15.00. Right now as most things are expensive or have gone up in price, the $15.00 price tag is expensive for a sandwich. It is still worth the try. As for the Bopomofo tots, I didn't care for the combination. To me, it doesn't work together. read more
my friend and i stopped by here after work, and it really hit the spot after a tough day! i got the summer blossom green tea and it was super refreshing. my friend and i shared the spicy popcorn chicken (get the thai basil aioli !!!) and the mofo asada fries, and i would say the fries could use more sauce/flavor on them since they seemed more bland compared to the chicken. the chicken was really flavorful so it balanced out! the ambiance was good too with the music and seating! the tables have outlets too so it seems like it could be a good study spot. read more
