We stopped in on April 8. It was still a bit early in the season to see a lot of the varieties in bloom. Rose took us through the gardens and she said ideally around mid April is the best time to view the irises in full bloom. The idea is to view the gardens in the spring and this way you can actually see the flower in bloom & choose the varieties you'd like to purchase for your own garden. They dig up the rhizomes July through August and ship out orders August through October. (Check out their web site which includes videos, how to's, info on insects & disease and of course the varieties for sale.) The varieties that we did see blooming were gorgeous!
