They were quick to respond to our requests for laundry service and worked with us to accommodate our group who were on site for multiple weeks to get their laundry done. The worst! The white machine is $6.00 it left my clothes sopping wet! I could wring out water! When I asked the attendants they said "white machines are for 6 pieces of clothes" ok so the other options are $10 for a wash! My normal laundry is $3.00 for a large load. The machine didn't fully desolve the laundry soap. The dryer luckily did dry my clothes but again way costlier than other laundry mats in the neighborhood. Also many were broken - as in almost half - no upkeep. The workers must really want to leave, on a Sunday night they were mopping the floor and cornered everyone so you had to walk across the whole of the laundry mat on a wet floor! Dangerous. This laundry mat is in the heart of the Tenderloin! I wouldn't expect PAC Heights prices WTF. I'll have to stick with other laundry mats in the neighborhood as this laundry mat is high way robbery. I'm staying at the Marriott on Post St and they did not have laundry facilities (I like to go home with clean laundry) and they recommended this place 2 blocks down. I read 5 star reviews online so decided to do my laundry here. Uh, what a joke! First off, I understand the Cafe is closed but from their website they make it look like it's a pretty cool place and not one of those shithole laundromats but in reality that's pretty much what it is. Some machines aren't operable as they're taped off. I spilled detergent on my hands and they have no sinks to wash your hands nor can you use their restrooms as they're locked and they won't give you a key. I asked an employee if I can wash my hands at their sink behind the counter and he said he didn't think they were working. Are you frickin serious? So he proceeds to hand me a dirty cotton towel to dry my hands. Uh, I need to wash then not dry them. Whatever happened to paper towels? I understand they're probably trying to limit the homeless washing themselves in the sink and what not but at least put some signage up indicating so. Prices also vary on some of the washers with no reason why and they're the same identical washer (3.50 & 4.75). Note to self: always choose a hotel with laundry facilities on site! read more

These pics are a lie that place ain't nowhere near that clean. And although they have a bathroom for the public, they won't let you use it so good luck! 1. Half the washing machines are broken and have been for over a year! You wanna wash your clothes in hot water? Good luck! Warm water is the most you'll get...hopefully. 2. The dryers (the few that do work) are running so cold, you're basically just paying to watch your clothes tumble. EVEN THE MAIN CHANGE MACHINE IS BROKEN...AND HAS BEEN FOR AT LEAST TWO MONTHS. 3. The dryer temperatures are turned down so low, you can easily spend 2 to 3hrs and a shit load of quarters waiting for your items to dry. 4. The owner or managers invests nothing into the business and that is clearly evident by the at least 20 broken machines. Either the owner who seems to be a nice guy has no technical knowledge or just doesn't want to spend the money. Unfortunately, if either is true he's literally shooting himself in the foot, especially in a residential neighborhood crawling with children and the working poor. To make matters worse the machines and dryers that are broken are the large extra heavy-duty washers and dryers. This is what happens when you're a business owner without a business plan in place. The only goal here is to make money. If he was in business to serve the community, he'd serve them better by servicing his broken inventory. And in doing so, he'd finally find a bigger and better return on his investment, then he wouldn't have to cheat his customers by forcing them to use lukewarm dryers and washers that barely extract water. Even if you're not the owner and just managing the place, you're still a representation of the business model. As a Manager, I would NEVER stand behind a product that was being a disservice to the community. Manager or owner you have a responsibility to the customers you serve. The staff here are super welcoming and friendly! Coming from New York, we don't have these cafe and laundromat businesses. (Which we totally should because it's such a genius idea!) I stumbled across this place after my boyfriend needed his laundry to be done since he was on a business trip. I wasn't going to pay the hotel we stayed at $20 just to get a shirt cleaned so I came across TL Cafe and Laundromat. This place was great since it was only 2-3 blocks from our hotel! That day was slightly raining so the distance was perfect. I immediately fell in love with the decor and the nature of the place. I've never seen anything like it especially with the pterodactyl hanging on the ceiling. It definitely screamed spunk! The laundromat was easy to access and everything was amazing. When we first entered we were not greeted at all and just got a non welcoming vibe from the young man and older lady working they really looked like they were just hanging out and then we stood by the cafe part for about 5 mins which clearly states that they are open online as well as the huge flashing sign that says "Cafe Open" for the young boy to tell us that they are not open. I was hesitant for a moment as I walked up the door and peered in for a quick glance, glad I did. The front of the house is the cafe which has quick eats and coffee, in the back of the house is the self-serve laundry-mat. I saw three different types of washers and at first did not know the difference other than one back shows a cost of $3 and the other two was not clearly marked. I found the machine that I wanted and dropped quarters in it. Straight-forward washing and fairly clean. Waited 25 minutes for the wash and threw my load into the dryer. In and out in less than an hour. Tip: Bring less wrinkled dollars for change, the cafe does not give change. read more

I came out of my way to come here as I thought it would be good. I thought the service would be good as I have worked in retail and food settings. I got a lid that was leaking and I did not know until I got to Civic Center. The difference between Vietnamese coffee ($4) and cold brew ($3.75) is the condensed milk creamer which isn't much. Also, the TL Cafe had ran out of ice when I came. The coffee isn't special and their prices are close to Blue Bottle and Philz. The location in the Tenderloin gives it an advantage, but other than that it doesn't offer much. My Vietnamese coffee didn't have ice and it and one side was had the condensed milk dripping from it. I was really unhappy with my experience and won't be coming back. I think this place only works mainly for travelers who don't know San Francisco well. As a local, there are better places to go to in San Francisco. read more

TL Cafe is a gem for travelers staying in the neighborhood! Don't be startled by the surrounding streets, this is worth the trip. $3 for a wash, $.25 for 6 minutes of drying. Plus, it's nice to be able to sit and have a beer while you do your laundry! Jim, the owner, is friendly and helps people to understand the machines and get what they need while also serving up drinks and some delicious looking food (I didn't eat). If I could give this cafe six stars, I would. Seriously can't believe the chick below me gave a bad review because she showed up too late to wash. Signs are clearly posted was last wash is, along with signs inside. There have been MANY nights where the owner, Jim, allowed people to wash past the last wash time so that they could have clean clothes. Not only that, but I've seen him leave the desk to go help people who don't speak English understand how the machines work, which is probably why they don't answer the phone; there is only one worker during normal hours because this is a family run business. If you have a question, simply go to the business and ask. This is the only place I would wash my clothes while I was pregnant. Any time I wanted to watch my game, Jim or Michael would play it. Although the majority of the time the tv is on music. When my son was finally born, and now that he's a toddler, he enjoys the Madeline's or the tangerines. The food is simply above and beyond, breakfast sandwiches are worth every penny. Huge sausages and made to order right in front of you. The bicycle coffee direct from Oakland is KILLER. FL visitor here for the week and needed a place to do laundry. The hotel wanted to charge an arm and leg and I only had a small load I needed done. Found this place on Yelp, and I cannot recommend it enough. Laundromat: I roughly spent $6.75- four dollars for the wash, one dollar for the soap, one dollar for the dryer sheet, and 75 cents for drying (they currently charge 25 cents for every 6 minutes). The machines were all efficient, functional and there are plenty available for guests. I went on Saturday morning at 10am, and still managed to find available machines. Cafe: while I waited for the laundromat, I had a bagel and cream cheese ($3.50) and later had a espresso ($3). Both were made excellently and tasted great. Grounds: the facility and cafe were both very clean and it's aesthetic is both simple and inviting. The staff was great. I didn't get a chance to get the man's name, but the employee who served me my breakfast was friendly and prompt! All in all, $13.25 and roughly 45 minutes later, extremely pleased with The TL Cafe! read more

I love this neighborhood business and I love the concept of having a cafe combined with a laundromat. For starters, it's a smart business idea to have food and drink (they serve alcohol too!) available for customers as they wait for their laundry. Additionally, it's a great way to create an environment, both physically and atmospherically, that fosters community. Filling people's bellies usually makes them happier, and having the cafe at the front of the business also creates a gateway through that energy, reducing the otherwise sanitary and austere look and feel of a typical laundromat. I visited for the first time today and met Hector, who was working today in lieu of the owners. I asked him what the difference was between the machines and he gave me a quick tutorial. While I waited for my wash, I ordered the egg and cheese sandwich, which was basic but delicious and reasonably priced. They serve Killer Dave's bread as an option, so they use good ingredients. I chatted with Hector for a bit and he was very friendly and welcoming. The machines look clean and some of the washers are new. It was $3.50/wash in the new machines (not sure about the bigger/older washers), and $0.25/ six minutes for the dryers. I arrived around 10 am on a Monday, President's Day, and there were free washers and dryers. I don't know what their busy times are but it didn't seem like an issue for anyone else who came in after me to get a load or two in. I loved the little, or rather big, details - the mural in the cafe, the pterodactyl in the laundromat. It's not a fancy place but it is big, clean, and welcoming. I also loved the diversity of customers, which may be more a reflection of Tenderloin. But for sure, everyone seemed super friendly and kind. One woman, in her limited English, pointed out that I was putting the coins in for the top dryer and not the bottom one (although I ended up using both for two loads). Another woman stopped me from putting in another quarter to my dryer because she was finishing up and still had time left in hers that I could take over. All these things just made a lovely laundromat experience for me and I fell in love with the place. I would go there just to have a bite to eat or something to drink! read more

Update review! Through time this place has deteriorated and became a slum. There's multiple people hanging out in the front. Definitely not social distancing. It makes it super uncomfortable for me to walk in and out to do my laundry. Also no one is really there to support you when you're having issues with machines or the change area. Supposedly the cafe and owner of the laundry mat aren't own by the same people. Overall I'm disappointed at what this place has become. It was my go to laundry spot! read more

I haven't been to a laundromat since I was a kid, so wasn't looking forward to it mid way through a beach trip that required a good cleaning. But the cafe + laundry combo was super attractive and beyond that, the staff was incredibly helpful, treating me like a friend they were wanting to help out. Really it was just a great experience and the laundry didn't even take that long with some seriously heavy duty, new and clean machines. This place is amazing, clean, and magical. My husband and I came here after Brainwash closed, and needless to say it was true love at first wash. The staff is always so kind and compassionate - we love Jim and his rad stories forever!! He also makes a mean michelada.... probably the best I've had. The food here is bomb and worth every cent, and I love their selection of beers. The artwork on the walls adds something special, and it's a place I enjoy doing some art myself. It's a super cozy environment and you can really feel the sense of community here - everyone is kind and looks out for each other. Positive vibes all around. I only came here for the laundry machines and they were clean. I came early in the morning so there weren't too many people. It's nice that you can also order coffee in the front of the store. Wash was $4 and you have to use one of their easy cards and the dryer uses quarters. Great place to do laundry if you are traveling. Our hotel was going to charge us an outrageous amount of money to wash our clothes so I found this place nearby and was surprised at how nice and safe it is. There is a great cafe in the front and the laundry mat is in the back. It's immaculate. The man who works there was so helpful. He helped us through each step of the way. We actually stayed and ate breakfast in the cafe while the clothes were washing because it was such a comfortable and welcoming place. read more

We are vacationing in San Francisco and my husband didn't pack enough clothes. I yelped laundromats in the area because I wasn't about to pay Hilton $10 per laundered item. I found this place a few blocks away, in the Tenderloin district so we made our way there. Interesting concept...with a bar/cafe...the guy running the place was a character....and he was playing 70-80's rock music...and cooking up paninis and bagel sandwiches in his little cooking area. It was clean enough, washers are high efficiency for 3 bucks and his dryers dried our clothes for 50 cents. Not bad for San Francisco. He also let's the homeless wash and leave their clothes there which is pretty nice. We ordered a couple of sandwiches on our way out and enjoyed our time there.
