And i noticed that it does not wring the clothes well probably to increase time you have to pay to dry To dry: its $1 for 16 minutes lol ... so its not that cheap since you need a minimum of 45 minutes... but its also $1 to add 5 minutes.. so you have to stick around to add another $1 after the 16 minutes each time .. what a terrible use of time. I had a really terrible experience at this laundromat. The three washing machines that I used did not dispense hot water, at all. When it came time to dry the clothes, the dryers were not up to par. Again, no heat in three, separate dryers. It took an inordinately long time to dry the clothes; it was a waste of my money and yeah; I'd say this place is definitely a rip-off. I know who owns this place, so it's not surprising to me that they'd do that to their customers. Take your money and business to an honest laundromat. This is not it. read more

#13/2016 With 15 Maytag high efficiency washers and 7 Dexter big-load machines (one seemingly big enough to launder a sofa), The Hayes Laundromat is a solid neighborhood spot when you have to get a lot of laundry done fast- or in my case, launder heavy items like goose down duvets and coverlets that need high capacity washers and very hot industrial dryers to be cleaned and dried properly. The machines are spotless and judging from the empty clang once you deposit your quarters (note to would-be thieves) coins are emptied out regularly. A narrow space that gets steamy once a few dryers are going, The Hayes Laundry would feel cramped, fast, if you were doing laundry in prime time. I got lucky with (unmetered) street parking so I didn't have to haul stuff very far. Not experienced with high efficiency washers, I got frustrated watching a load with one minute to finish tumble dry, then stand still, then tumble dry again and again for 15 minutes, aargh! Clean washers & dryers, average price, they also have a change machine that dispenses tokens good for use only at The Hayes. I recommend. read more

Really not a fan of using quarters (36 for the big wash machine), especially as there is no sink to wash your hands for later handling clean laundry. The dryers are not always great, so plan to spend more than you would in more efficient laundromats and spend more time waiting for your clothes to dry. At my fav laundromat I pay for 20 minutes and everything is dry. At Hayes, I recently ended up paying for 40 minutes and a whole bag of clothes were still damp before I had to leave. Ended up having to rewash them bc them later elsewhere. -- If you're in a pinch and have time, it's an otherwise nice spot and the owners are really friendly. read more

Terrible customer service. I have been using them for occasional dry cleaning and regular wash and fold for our comforter, which is too big for our washer. The price was originally much lower but I learned that this had been done in error, and was disappointed to know I would be charged more going forward. Then I noticed our comforter would get returned to us with our cat's hair still on it and it didn't seem to be actually clean; we were told this was because we chose scent-free detergent. The last straw for me was when I drove all the way to retrieve our comforter, only to learn that the locker in the laundromat would not open for me; I called the manager Vernon, who offered nothing, refused to come in, and expected me to just make a second trip at a later date without any recourse. When pressured by me to offer better customer service given that it was their equipment that was malfunctioning and I had to waste gas at record high prices to make two trips, he begrudgingly offered $5 off but had the audacity to tell me that if he gave that discount, he would refuse to fulfill future orders for me!! To recap: changed prices, did a lackluster job, then treated me very poorly for being assertive about better business practices. We are in no short supply of laundering services in SF. Find another, better small business to patronize. I refuse to be treated like that and so should you! read more

As far as laundromat a go, it's okay. Three main problems: 1) The dryer powered off in the middle of a run and ate $5. No one here to fix it; no phone number to call. There was another woman whose money was also taken. 2) The dryers are very particular about how you put quarters in. It took me almost ten minutes to put $15 of quarters in the machine. Too fast, too slow, not enough spin, dropped in with a plop, and the machine rejects the quarter. 3) Extremely expensive. The $2.75 washer is smaller than a bucket. Really a rip off. read more

If the faithless whore of a washing machine in my basement starts eating my quarters in return for nothing more than a high-pitched squeal, this is where I go. If I need to wash every sheet and towel in my life and throw in a down comforter besides, this is where I go. Prices are pretty reasonable for big, fast industrial washers, and the big dryers are frankly a steal. Why do I haul all of my laundry several blocks when my building has a shared washer/dryer? The Hayes Laundry is an immaculate, inexpensive, sun-drenched laundry paradise. It is never crowded (in fact, I only ever encounter one or two other customers while I'm there) and thanks to the high-traffic location I feel safe leaving my laundry. If I was worried and wanted to wait, there's free wifi and a few places to sit. Only downside I have to mention is that one time I forgot my laundry detergent and used the eco-friendly one they have for sale. I had an allergic reaction to it and need to rewash everything. Not their fault, but if you have any sensitivities at all... learn from my mistake. read more

I lost my iPhone here and swore it was gone. I called the emergency number on the wall and the owner was very sympathetic. I have been comming to this laundry-mat before they changed the name. Even then it was a fine place to watch a swishing box of water. Now with the addition of free wifi I have no reason to go elsewhere. The machines are all in good working order, the prices are fair and the other people are respectful and stay out of your way. Pro tip: the washing machines closest to the door lock while they run. I would suggest hoofing it to Ritual while it swishes. It makes the wait much better. Tl;dr its good to wash your clothes. This place is clean as hell, the staff is all kinds of polite, the change machines work, and there's free wifi up in here. The dryers are super efficient, I'm never waiting for them to dry for inordinate amounts of time. If you're not the type to hang around waiting for your clothes, Hayes Valley and Alamo Square are both walking distance to grab yourself some coffee or some ridiculously expensive shoes while you wait. If there's more you want from a Laundromat, then you sound hard to please and I really don't know what I can do for you. read more

This is by far the cleanest laundrymat I have ever used. Very convenient for us as it was a block from our apartment. Never had any problems with the machines, clothes always came out clean and the dryers all worked well. There is an ATM and bill changer machines as well as Tide and Clorox for sale. Update: The Hayes Laundry has since ironed out all the wrinkles. Yes, pun intended. I'm rating them 5 stars now (based on Wash and Fold, facilities, and super friendly staff), although I still think that the paper wrapping is wasteful and more difficult to recycle than need be. --- I want to give The Hayes Laundry 5 stars, I really do. The facilities are clean, and the staff are friendly. They now offer a great Wash & Fold service which includes a nice, free tote bag for your clothes. And the customer service is pretty good too -- it's just that I feel the need to contact Vernon after just about every wash & fold order to inquire about something. I recently received an invoice for my wash & fold service and was charged the $14 minimum, but the space on the invoice for the number of pounds was left blank. So I had to email asking how many pounds were in the order. Vernon said I dropped of 9.4 pounds and that it was because the order was separated into whites and darks that I was charged the minimum. So, the explanation was confusing, but did offer a 10% credit on my next order. My other gripe is the lack of instruction on how to lock the lockers. This has since been remedied, I'm told. In other words, the customer service is good in that they're responsive, but they would be 10x better, IMO, if they were a little bit more proactive rather than reactive. I know, first world problems... but it's the lack of polish that keeps me from giving 5 stars. The soap, dryer sheets, bleach, etc. in the vending machine are overpriced (as you'd expect). Just go across the street to the corner store and get what you need from there. Of the two change machine, usually only one seems to be working. The paper used to wrap the clothes from a wash & fold order seems wasteful. LaundryLocker asked that you return the plastic wrap to them for recycling, which I prefer. Washing is $2.50, which is higher than most of my friends pay. And $0.25 will get you 6 minutes in the dryer. read more

The Hayes Laundry... what can I say... I know what you're thinking. How great can a laundry place really be, right? That's what I used to think too. But I have the privilege of living near this wonderful establishment and have been doing my laundry there for 3 years. The machines are always in perfect condition and everyone else in there must love the place too because everyone seems really happy to be at a laundromat. Ok I lied a little about "doing my laundry there." For the past year at least I've been using their wash and fold service... and it's the best service ever! I drop my laundry off whenever, text Vernon which locker it's in, and without another thought, it's done! I laugh when I hear my friends say "it's laundry day" - I tell them about my situation and they are jealous. But hey, we can't all live near The Hayes Laundry. Let me put it this way: the two things that keep me in my apartment are The Hayes Laundry Wash & Fold and rent control. It's that good. read more

My first time at this coin up and had a little accident with one of the machines because it took my change. "Ok I get it it happens you know" so I proceeded to email the owner about the mishap and received a reply within the next 10 minutes. Right there I realized these people care about their business running smooth. I give it 4 large stars because of the customer service and wifi!! I've been there on Monday and just to clear out my background - I have never done laundry in coin wash before. My experience was very positive - I've done everything in 1-1.5 hours, there were no lines, some guy helped me out figuring out the process. All my laundry ended up nicely cleaned and dryed. There is soap for 1$ and conditioner if you don't have any and also 8 minutes of drying is only for one quarter! read more

I'll keep this a two-star review even though the owner's response is totally bogus. If I only put white clothes in the air-dry bag why would I bother to write a negative review about them failing to air dry colored shirts? in addition, after I mentioned the response to my partner she reminded me that one of her tans bras had been in the air-dry bag and also went thru the dryer. And one of the colored shirts even came back with bleach stains! I would drop it to one star based on the dishonesty and poor service, but I strive to keep things positive and don't yet know what it would take to cause me to write a one-star review -- probably an attack or otherwise aggressively uncivil behavior. Cramped, expensive, no sink with running water, limited space to fokd clothes. This corner space would be more suitable for a food store but one already exists across the street so maybe a cafe or something. $3 for a small wash, $6 for large wash is pricey. But this is San Francisco where you have choices and can go a couple blocks further and pay $2 and fold your clothes on a large table while listening to some nut play Rihanna on his boombox phone speakers. At least they could install a sink with a drip-drip faucet so you could rinse the laundry detergent off your fingers. Hey, it's a laundromat, be thankful your clothes won't stink. Thanks. The prices are very reasonable. The machines are clean. The only gripe I have is that space is limited. Sometimes there's no seats left, and the aisles are so narrow that you end up having to lift your feet for people walking by when you're sitting down. It gets a bit noisy too so it's probably not a good place to get reading done (plus there's no comfortable seating areas). But I just go on Reddit for an hour and a half and I'm fine. Oh yeah the industrial driers are very industrial. At first I overestimated the amount of time it would take to dry my clothes by 20 minutes, so I ended up just making a donation to the laundromat. read more

I LOVE the wash & fold and dry cleaning service. They do such a wonderful job and the customer service is impeccable. The wash and fold is done within 24 hours and the dry cleaning is done within 48 hours. i recently had some wine stains on my favorite silk dress and I emailed Vernon to see if he could get the stains out. He responded to my email right away and told me that he may need an extra day to work on removing the stains. Sure enough, 2 days later, my dress came back just like new! And there was no extra charge (apparently Vernon had to clean my dress twice to remove the stains). I was amazed. I usually come in on weekends to do my laundry. The place is always very clean, has lots of natural light and the staff are super nice. Now, with the wash and fold and dry cleaning service, I just drop off my clothes to get them cleaned since the price is so reasonable. i feel like I have my own butler. They listen to my concerns and they take better care of my clothes than I can. This is as good as it gets!!! read more
